hello i recently got a macbook pro and i was about to buy an app fro the app store and a menu showed up saying that since it was the first time i was buying an app in a macbook i needed to answer some security questions and i did, i unfortunately only remember one of the questions, so i was unable to buy the app and i was directed to apple website.

My iPad recognises the new detail in iTunes and iCloud but when I go into iCloud through my MacBook Air, it requests a password for the old email account which I can no longer use. There is no Option to be able to change this email/ID detail as I cannot get further than the password request. Can anyone help please - this is driving me insane?!

Go to System Preferences and click Sign Out, select Delete at all the prompts, then sign back in with the changed ID? (Your iCloud data will disappear from your Mac when you sign out and choose Delete, but will still be in iCloud. Provided you are signing back into the same account your data will reappear on your Mac when you sign back in.)

Did you create a NEW Apple ID or did you change the email address for your OLD Apple ID? This will affect how you update apps in the future.
Anyway, go to Settings/iTunes&App Stores, log out, then log in with the new ID.

To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iDevice, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use. If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, and your old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll. When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). I have changed my email in apple id support page, but apple is still sending notification in my old email! I would like for my old email to be completely wiped out from the apple id database. I cannot seem to find out how, any help appreciated!
Some more info: in iphone, in icloud and appstore i see the new email address. however i can log in the appstore with the old one as well!!! crazy!

Edit: it seems in the iphone i can log in the appstore with the new and the old email. In the apple id website, i can log in only with the new email. Still, it seems apple has my old email somewhere stored.

Hi,
I am trying to consolidate my devices into a single apple ID in particular for use of my ITunes account.
I have an IPad which has an @me.com ID, but my original ITunes is tied to an old email address which I no longer use.
I have attempted to update my details in ITunes with the following results:
It will not allow me to use the @me address because it is in use on another device.
My personal gmail address was rejected because it is registered as my recovery address
I looked to change the recovery address but cannot find where I can do this.
Is my best option to create a new Apple ID and use this for my Itunes account and then assign this to my IPad?
Or can I update my existing addresses by changing the recovery address?

I changed my email address, which in turn, changed my Apple ID. I changed the settings of my iPad and things were fine for me, but my husband shares a few apps with me and isn't able to update or use any of those apps now. The change doesn't work for him.

You have to be signed into the correct Apple ID in order to download those purchases again for free.
Settings>iTunes & App Store. Tap the old ID and sign out, then sign in with the new/changed ID.

I am sure there is an easy answer to this. I had to change my email address and filled in all the details on line with apple. Now, however, when I try to download anything from the apps store on my ipod it still has my previous ID and when I try to update anything in my library on my laptop it won't update using my new ID as it says it was purchased by someone else

"Unknown error has occurred" when changing primary email for Apple ID

It tells me the primary email I'm changing it to, is available and everything, but when I click "save changes" it sends me back to the Apple ID log in page and gives me the message "An unknown error has occurred".
How can it be Unknown? How can I fix it? I wish I could ask Apple directly, but I live in a country where I don't think it possible to call them. I've searched and there seems to be no way to contact them through email or something.
What can I do?? This is very stressful.

and I cannot change it on my iPad (1st gen) or my iPhone (4). I researched answers on here and was told to go to settings/itunesappstore then log out and log back in. On the phone, it shows my current apple Id, but my iCloud still shows my old email/id and won't let me change it. On the iPad, there is no heading called itunes/appstore to select and I cannot change my ID in Icloud either. Can anyone please tell me how to change this? My ID is correct on all other Apple functions/apps. The phone is OS 7.1.1 and ipad is OS 5.1.1 (will not allow me to update this ipad to anything beyond this OS)
