Change Run-Only Application to Editable

Hello,
Yesterday i've finished part of my APEX 4 application and, in order to get it tested i edited it's properties to Run-Only.
Now i want to modify something in it and i can't since it's "Not Editable".
Any ideea how can i change it to be editable again?

Run Only Applications

Hi!
I am using Application Express version 4.0.2. What I have seen is if I install an application that has been exported as "Run Only" then subsequent attempts to install exported components from the application later are not successful - and an install of the full application is required.
I am trying to learn more about this behavior, and see if perhaps I am doing something wrong. Is it the case that we can only install components (like individual pages) to applications that are enabled for "Run and Build" or should I be able to install individual components to a "Run Only" application?
Does anyone know where I can find some information on this topic?

Run only application

Hi all,
I have 2 question about application installation procedure (via 2.1.0.00.38):
1. in the export-to-file process i specify in the 'build status override' field a value (run only ot build and run). why do i have to specify this kind of value in the import process too (in 'build status' field)?
2. I installed an application in run-only status. now, it disappeared from the application repository. how do i regain access to the application (lets say...in order to delete the application)?

1. You have the option on export to create a file with a run-only status so that it will be run-only after it's installed somewhere else, unless the person installing it overrides that. It's also possible to use SQL*Plus to install applications, so then the run-only or run-and-build status would be taken from the setting in the file with no opportunity for override.
2. Import it again from your exported file, set it to run-and-build and then delete it.

Attribute Change Run- Serial or Parallel

If we are building a chain for Attribute Change Run for all Master data objects, should we:
1. load Masterdata A, followed by attribute change run, load masterdata B followed by attribute change run, load masterdata C followed by attribute change run....
2. Load Masterdata in Parallel followed by AND with ONE attribute change run.
The first one seems grossly redundant but then if we have only ONE attribute change run, wouldnt that lock up all the objects for a LONG time?
Also, does an attribute change run by default include ALL objects which have been loaded anew and for which the change run has not run???

Also, say I have loaded object A , B and C. And in my process chain I have Attribute change run only for Object C.
Will the Attribute Change Run include newly loaded A and B by default?
I ask this because we saw something like this happening

Applescript Editor saved as "Run only" - How do I open my work? Please help

I just spent hours on an applescript project. I'm still new to the Applescript Editor, so when I saved it as a run-only application, I thought that it meant it was just exporting the app. I didn't realize that when I quit, it would not ask to save the file. So now I have a final application that I can't open. How can I get back to editing it?

What I meant was that the indicator at the top center of the window probably should not have turned solid

Well, it was saved but not as a file you could edit.
It's like a file in a word processor. If you save it as plain text, it will remove all formatting and the icon at top would turn solid (indicating it is saved).
But open it again and it won't have any formatting.
But I don't mean to complain. I just wish I could open my work.
I understand fully.
Sometimes ya' gotta learn the hard way.
On that note, a pet peeve of mine.
You do make regular backups of your important files, yes? You at least haveTime Machine running?

Attr change run cannot preceed Data Load?

Hi, all
I need to make attr change run before loading data, because these active MD should be used in data loading routines. When checking this chain BW shows message " A type "Attribute Change Run" process cannot precede process "Execute InfoPackage" var. ZPAK_E5NXARYHE6BXRST2FD3YZAN7B in the ch".
Why? Is that because change run only activated and chain doesnt wait for change run end and starts next process?
Or I can suppress this warning?

normaly attribute/hierarchy change run is performed after all data loading finished, it should put after the infopackage process.

But here I need to schedule another load after this change run. And I want to use results of this change run in this load.
BTW, when running this chain I have dump on this infopackage load with OPEN_DATASET_NO_AUTHORITY on lines
OPEN DATASET L_PFILENAME FOR INPUT IN TEXT MODE
 ENCODING DEFAULT
 IGNORING CONVERSION ERRORS.
When I schedule this package manually everyting is OK.

InfoCube blocked by Change run

Hi all,
we need to delete data for an InfoCube, it was blocked by a Change run that was taking some time running, so we cancel the process to delete first the data. The problem is that it still says that the InfoCube is blocked by the "canceled" change run process.
We run the process again to let it finnish and then delete the data, and the process never finnish, on the change run screen says that the process is running, on monitor says that is restructuring the aggregates for the cube that we want to empty, but there is no activity on SM50 and its been a whole day in this state.
The InfoCube is still blocked by the change run (that says that is running, but its not). What can i do to solve it ?

We should not cancel any Change run...............bcoz if we manually cancel any change run.....lock will never get released........until we repeat the terminated Change run(Change Run id should be same).......
Also when a Change Run get cancelled automatically..........we should check the Log...........if it is a Terminated Change Run...........then again we should repeat the same Terminated Change Run.......
As per my knowledge...........u will not be able to find these locks in SM12.......
Due to this the infocube is still locked and the restructuring the aggregates job is not progressing..........
Do one thing................again cancel the Change run...........
First go to SM12 >> there u will find one Log for Change run..it will be like CHANGERUN 410465767 ...........where 410465767 is the Change run id...........then
As krishna told...............go to RSA1 >> In the top TOOLS tab >> Select * Apply Hierarchy/Attribute Change* >> Click on Monitor and Start terminated Change run >> there click on Start Change run with Set Filters.........it will restart the Terminated Change run.....
After that again Check in SM12...........whether the Change run id is same or not.............it should be same.......
I think this time u will not face any problem............and after completion of the Change run only..delete the cube content...........

Change application to RUN ONLY via API?

Is it possible to set an application to be RUN ONLY via the API instead of accessing the Workspace manager? We have an environment that discourages access to the workspace manager in production and try to do as much as possible via SQL Plus..
Right now when we migrate an application to production, we get a copy of the application from version control, modify the app to a RUN ONLY version and then pass it over to our DBA to load into production. We would prefer to made the RUN ONLY change when the app is loaded into production via SQL Plus and the APEX API...
Any suggestions?

How do you delete an application that is run only ? (Apex 3.1.2)

Hi,
There must be something simple I'm missing here ...
I've deployed an application as run only on a server and I'd like to drop it and then import a new version (I'd like to keep the application number).
But, from the application builder I don't get the option when I click on it ... how is this done using the screens or do I need to use sqlplus and an API call ?

If you just want to delete applications set to 'Run Application Only', 2 possible methods (method 2 is much easier, but relies on use of SQL Developer):
1) The first method involves firstly changing the status back to 'Run and Build', which must be done in the APEX instance administration application, then going back into your workspace and deleting the application(s). So login to the APEX instance administration module (you'd need to have instance administration access), go to 'Manage Applications > Build Status' and click on the Edit icon of the application you eventually wish to delete. On the next page change the status to 'Run and Build Application'. Then you can log back into your workspace and delete this application as normal.
2) Use the SQL Developer integration to do this. In SQL Developer, open a connection to the parsing schema defined for your application. Then you'll see an Application Express node within that connection. Expand this and you'll see a list of applications (regardless of status). Locate the application you wish to delete and right click on it, select 'Drop' and click 'Yes' and your done.

Applescript application(Run only)/Password protected

Hi,
I'm copying files from source to destination using input XL then relink the images in InDesign Files. Saved that Apple script as Application(Run Only). When I run the application its throwing "0 doesn't understand the count message". But Code is working fine for me. Don't know why. Can anyone help me...
And also I need to protect that apple script using password as manual. Is it possible??

admin is the normal "admin rights" under SL. I would NOT change these. If you have an admin account then you have the proper rights.

how do I get The ipad locked to run only one application for customers (just one web app, or video- instructions, or just safari). What I really want is that my customers to only use one app that has all my services. It is an interactive app so I would not like them to go surfing elsewhere while they are in my store.
Is it possible to do this on the iPad ?

HT1751 i bought a new, larger external hard drive. copied my itunes library from the old drive to the new one, changed the libarary location in Edit/Preferences/Advanced to the new drive. iTunes will not start or run unless old hard drive plugged in.??

If I disconnect the old drive iTunes shuts down.

Thank you for providing so much information about what is going on. It sounds like you have setup iTunes to save new content to your new external hard drive in iTunes>Preferences, but it sounds like iTunes is not opening iTunes Library.itl file on the new external drive. You have one last step to take to have iTunes point to your new external hard drive rather than your old one:
Steps to create or choose a different iTunes Library file
If iTunes is running, quit iTunes.
If you are using Windows, hold down the Shift key and from the Start menu and choose All Programs > iTunes > iTunes.
You should see the following screen:
Additional information
If you do not see the screen above, then you did not hold the correct key at the correct time. You may want to try again. Note that if you pinned iTunes to the Start menu programs, and open it that way, it may not work.
Once you select "Choose Library," you will need to navigate to the iTunes Library.itl file on your new external drive.

How to run Windows-only applications on Macs?

Is there a way to do this without having to purchase huge software programs (like Parallels, etc.)? I am only wanting to run 1 Windows-only application, not install the entire Windows-theme onto my laptop. Thanks for the help!

there is Windows emulation software called Wine that can run many (but by no means all) Windows programs without needing a Windows installation. It is gratis, but on OS X you need to compile Wine yourself; they do not have precompiled downloadable disk images for OS X. However, a company called CodeWeavers does offer a precompiled version of Wine called CrossOver Mac for OS X, but it costs $59.95. They do have a gratis 14-day trial version, so you could download that to see if your lone Windows application would work well under OS X with it.

Run only allowed application gpo and ie 11 on remote desktop server (terminal server)

I configured win 2008 R2 server as Remote desktop server (terminal server) and I have domain GPO that's applying to this server. when I configure "Run only specified Windows application" IE 11 does not work.
I have iexplore.exe as allowed application.
when new user profile is created it setup and user can open other listed application fine but soon as IE 11 launched the IE windows loads up and after about 15-20 seconds it closes.
if I remove the "Run only specified Windows application" policy then everything works fine.
I am trying to figure out if any other .exe I have to allow in order for this to work properly?
nothing in event viewer about ie crashing.

Don't use this setting... This only restricts explorer.exe from
launching applications. If you manage to create a cmd file or open a
command prompt, this policy is useless.
