Change saved files location

Hi group. I want to send files to my 6270, via bluetooth, but the internal memory is full. How can I make my computer "see" the internal 128Mb card?

With Nokia PC Suite ( http://www.nokia.com/pcsuite ) and the File manager feature of it, perhaps.

  • I want to change the file location for the automatic backup file bookmarks.file, but I can't find browser.bookmarks.file in the list on the about:config page.

I asked about automatic backup of bookmarks and received the following answer:You can make Firefox 3 create an automatic HTML backup (bookmarks.html) when you exit Firefox if you set the pref [http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.bookmarks.autoExportHTML browser.bookmarks.autoExportHTML] to true on the about:config page. That backup is created by default in the profile folder as bookmarks.html, but you can set the file name and path via the pref [http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.bookmarks.file browser.bookmarks.file] on the about:config page. I went to about:config page and toggled browser.bookmarks.autoExportHTML to “Yes” and it’s working. However, I want to change the file location, but I can’t find browser.bookmarks.file in the list.

The browser.bookmarks.file preference does not exist by default. Right-click in about:config and select "New > String" to create it.

  • Changing swap file location on tray-loader iMacs

This is not a question, but something I discovered that makes my old tray-loader iMac (the oldest iMac models) run Mac OS X much better.
As you may know, these oldest iMacs have an 8GB size limit on the boot volume. The largest stock drive on these iMacs was 6GB. That means if your upgraded hard drive is larger than 8GB, it must be partition so that the first partition is under 8GB (7.78GB on my iMac), and it must be the boot partition where the OS is installed (whether it's Mac OS X or 9).
In my case, I have a roomy 120GB hard drive (I believe the useable limit on these iMacs is 128GB). The first partition is just under 8GB, the second partition is the rest of the space, about 104GB. I have used every trick out there to move files (such as the iTunes music folder and most of my user/documents files) off to the second partition, to make free space on the boot partition as large as possible. So I have 3.5GB free on my 8GB boot partition. This is about 40% of the volume's total space so it seems pretty good, until you realize that most recent Macs have much more than the TOTAL 8GB I have, as free space on the boot volume. Mac OS X was just not designed to work well with small boot volumes...
Mac OS X uses the free space on the boot volume for its virtual memory "swap file." Considering these old iMacs max out at 512MB of RAM, virtual memory is being used quite a bit. But since space on the boot volume is very limited, low RAM and lack of free space can lead to performance issues. Here's what I observed. When I initially started up my iMac, I had about 3.5GB of free space. Over time, as I used more and more apps, that free space would diminish until I had only about 600MB remaining (as reported by a Finder window). At the same time, I noticed performance getting bogged down and more "chugging" sounds coming from the hard-working hard drive.
I've known about changing location of the swap file, but never tried it until recently. During the Mac OS X boot process, the Mac sets the location of the swap file. By default, the swap file resides on the boot volume (I believe most other Unix-based systems use a dedicated "swap partition" for the swap file). Since most recent Macs have large drives set up as one partition (and there is plenty of free space), and since many users have upgraded their RAM (and virtual memory is not as critical), swap file location is usually not an issue, and there is certainly no need to change the swap file location. However, on my iMac with an 8GB limit on the boot volume and 512MB of RAM, it made a noticeable difference.
I found one set of procedures on the web that was much better than the others I found for changing the location of the swap file.
    http://www.math.columbia.edu/~bayer/OSX/swapfile/
On this page, there are two choices for Panther users. I used the one that works for both Panther and Tiger, because it appeared to me to be more straightforward. The author intentionally keeps the instructions somewhat technical to discourage users who are not technically inclined. I don't consider myself to be too "geeky," but I can follow instructions and type a few commands in Terminal.
After I changed the swap file location to a large mostly empty volume, I noticed much better performance when I have many large apps open at the same time. Performance no longer degrades over time, and the free space on my boot volume remains a constant 3.6GB.
The reason for this post is to share this information. Some users of these old iMacs may be noticing the same issues I had. This is a possible solution. However, if everything is OK with your set up, there is no reason to change the swap file location. If you try it, be sure to take the usual data backup precautions.
If anyone else has experience with changing swap file location, please post your comments here.

  • Changing the file location of iPhoto library...????

I have a 13' Macbook since early 2008 with an 80gb hard disk.
    I also have a 500gb Time Capsule..
Due to the size of my hard disk and my music collection amassing already 80gb+ I changed the file location of the iTunes music library to the Time Capsule.. this wasn't too difficult to work out how to do, but, i now have over 50gb of photos and videos in iPhoto and do not want to delete any. This has resulted in my hard disk/start up disk being full to capacity.
I now of course need to change the location of my iPhoto library from being on the MacintoshHD to being on my Time Capsule, but unlike with iTunes i can find no way of doing this... can anybody help??
    thanks in advance

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library Folder from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.
    but
    1. Have you a wired or wireless connection to the Time Capsule? A strong warning: If you're trying to edit the Library (that is, make albums, move photos around, keyword, make books or slideshows etc.) or edit individual photos in it via Wireless be very careful. Dropouts are a common fact of wireless networking, and should one occur while the app is writing to the database then your Library will be damaged. Simply, I would not do this with my Libraries.
    2. Are you also using the TC for back ups? because the device is not intended for both back ups and general storage uses.

  • Changing download file location in Safari

I want to change the download file location of my safari from the 'default downloads' into my external hard drive. But whenever I tried to change the download location, my external hard drive won't show up under option 'devices' even though it is inserted properly to its usb port. I also have it formatted to exFAT. Previoiusly, I was able to change the download file locations of my Safari to my different external hard drives but now Safari won't let me.
Here's a pic of how I tried to change the file location. But like I said, my external hard drive won't show up in the device option Help please?

  • I am trying to burn CDs to an external hard drive to conserve space on our laptop. When I change the file location it says the folder on the external drive is invalid. Am I missing a step?

I am trying to burn CDs to an external hard drive to conserve space on our laptop. When I change the file location it says the destination folder on the external drive is invalid. Am I missing a step?

It does, but that's definitely strange.  Try showing all hidden files and folders on your Mac to see if that helps.
To do this, head to Applications -> Utilties -> Terminal and type:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE -> Press Enter
    killall Finder -> Press Enter
Then navigate out to your iPod again via the Finder. Any luck now?

  • Locating files after changing iTune file location

    iTunes 7 XP Pro
I changed the default location and moved the contents of the iTunes Music folder, however iTunes does not automatically recognize the new location for existing files. Is there anyway I can globally change the location in iTunes so I do not have to change the location of hundreds of files one at a time?
    Thank you

The location you set in preference only sets the location for all FUTURE additions to the library. Anything already in your iTunes library will remain in the location they were already being accessed.
If you want to move all the files to the new location, then use the consolidate command. This command copies all files not located in the preference location into that location, thus consolidating them to one location. As I said, I think it copies, not moves the files. So after a consolidate, you may need to go and delete the old locations manually.

  • Changing iTunes File Locations

    Greetings,
This is probably a simple question that's been answered hundreds of times, but I can't seem to find it. I just want to move my music files from the "My Music" folder (and all subfolders) to a new external drive. Aside from manually moving the folders over and changing the default location setting in iTunes, is there anything else I need to do?
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi, Gary.
Have a look at this article in the Apple Knowledge Base.

  • How do I change default file location for NON-MUSIC files?

My Laptop's "My Document" folder is on network per the corporate configuration. When I am not on VPN, I can not start iTunes since it looks for files on network.
Also my "My Documents\My Music\iTunes" folder on the network is growing quite large since all *.ipa files are stored there.
Is there any way to point all file locations to my C drive?
    Thx

App store files will get put in a subfolder named \Mobile Applications.
The preference files will stay on the C: drive under your user profile.

  • Saving files, location and format

I just recently purchased a macbook pro, with the aperture software installed, and have a question reguarding the files used in the program.
I know that when you import photos, you must put them in a project, however i would like to know where this project is saved. Also, when i delete a project, if it deletes just the project and any modifications i have made to the master photos, and what happens to the master photos afterwards. Does the non destructive format follow to this as well? What about if i import from memory card to aperature, does it save a master image, and then put it in a project, or what happens?
    Thanks

When you launch Aperture, it will create a file in the Pictures folder called "Aperture Library. aplibrary"
This location can be changed from within Aperture/Preferences, but Aperture will not move this library file to the new location. If you need to move it, use Finder. If you don't move it, Aperture will create a new library in your newly chosen location when you next start Aperture. To prevent confusion, make sure you move or delete (so long as there are no required images in it) an unused library file.
I know that when you import photos, you must put them in a project, however i would like to know where this project is saved.
Aperture physically stores all images within a folder structure within this library. The library is a package, and can be navigated in Finder by right mouse clicking and choosing "Show Package Contents." When you do this, and you've imported some images, you will see some project files projectname.approject. These again are packages (groupings of file/folders). If you open one of these packages you will see a folder per image (image name)which contains the imported image, some index files and any version files for adjustment versions you may have created. Note the size of the version files are tiny, as only the rules/parameters are saved, not the image data itself ... which remains unaltered and pristine in the image name file).
Hence non-destructive editing is achieved without significant impact on disk space.
if i import from memory card to aperature, does it save a master image, and then put it in a project, or what happens?
They will be imported into the above structure under a project you are pointing at during import with that project's name. The "master" will be copied into this project and 3 - 4 support files (all small), including one that is the template to become the first version you create as you make adjustments. NOTE: Each master, its support files (metadata, index, etc), version files are all stored in one folder per master within the project package. The master is not altered or stored in a proprietary structure and so can be copied out using Finder if necessary ... although Spotlight does not scan packages that I know of.
Also, when i delete a project, if it deletes just the project and any modifications i have made to the master photos, and what happens to the master photos afterwards.
If you delete a project, or a master image within a project, the deletion is NOT undo-able within Aperture. However, the deletions do go into Trash under a folder"Aperture" You can drag and drop images out of here and re-import, or drag the project out and re-import.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to change trace file location in Oracle Fusion Middleware

    Hi all,
I would like to know how to change the location of the trace file in Oracle Fusion Middleware - Report Server 11g ?
I notice there is logging.xml file in $ORACLE_HOME/config/ReportServerComponenent/logging.xml. In the xml file, it did specify the location of the diagnostic file and other log files.
Is it the correct way to reconfigure the location of the log file? I havent try it though. :D
    Thanks.

    Hi Fleix,
For additional instructions for Release 11i, see Note.167635.1 and Note.150168.1.
For additional instructions for Release 11.0.3 and 10.7, see Note.148982.1 and Note.135715.1.
    a. Append the following to the end of the URL used to login to the Oracle Applications:
    ?play=&record=collect&log=/tmp/oracle.FRD.log
** Note: The self service login URL will not work for creating FRD trace files. You may need to talk to your technical team to get the URL that accesses the forms server directly.
    b. If the URL to logon to 11i applications is:
    http://machine:9603/dev60cgi/f60cgi
Then the following label needs to be included:
    ?play=&record=collect&log=/tmp/'file_name'.frd
For example to create frd for above url log in to application as
    http://machine:9603/dev60cgi/f60cgi?play=&record=collect&log=/tmp/4764802.992.frd
    c. Now log into the application and go directly to the form with the problem and perform the actions which generate the error.
Once the error has been generated and cleared, immediately log out of the application so no additional diagnostics are captured.
    d. The diagnostics will be written to the file specifed after "log=". In the example, this would be /tmp/4764802.992.frd
    e. After reproducing the issue, log on the server side of the instance and go to the directory to /tmp (cd tmp)
    f. Retrieve the frd file: /tmp/4764802.992.frd
This file contains all the details about built-in programs, triggers, procedures in a FORM
    Thanks,

  • Profile storage space - Mozilla saved files location

Currently I have user with a 'Profile Storage Space ' of 30000kb on the C:Drive.. The C:Drive itself has about 100gb free but the user can't have his profile size increased..
Just to let you guys know, any personal/unshared files would be saved onto his personal F:drive with 100gb free space..
The issues my user is having when installing and using Firefox it installs fine as it saves onto his C:Drive but then when you launch Firefox it saves some cache settings etc in C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Mozilla (which is part of his profile space) and hence he gets a message your Profile Space has exceeded and delete items or else you can't logout..
So I delete this folder, run firefox again and it again imports 'something' and back to the same issue..
How can I map it so it saves this info into another location, maybe his F:Drive?
    All help much appreciated..

  • Changing mp3 file locations - how do i update / save information in iTunes?

I am getting ready to put an additional hard drive into my computer - an old 60GB hard drive from another computer to act as the slave drive - in order put all of my music, movies, and pictures onto to save space on the main hard drive for my computer (only a 40GB). What do i have to do within iTunes to make sure it will still read the mp3 files when i move them to the new drive? Will iTunes save the changes and additions that i have made to the files?
I've been working on my music library for over a month and updated all of my mp3 files to include the artist and song title, so that info will transfer with the file; but I have been working within iTunes for the past 2 weeks getting everything just right - changing artist and title names, adding artwork for cover flow and updating album information to group songs and artists the way i want. What do i need to do to save all of this within iTunes, so that when i change file destinations of my mp3 files everything stays the same? Can i select all of my songs within iTunes and back them up directly to the new drive and then delete the older versions from the old hard drive?
Sorry if these sound stupid or are easy to fix, but i just don't want to lose all of my work that i put into my music library and have to start all over.
    Thanks for the help.

What do i have to do within iTunes to make sure it will still read the mp3 files when i move them to the new drive?
    Don't move them yourself.
Point iTunes prefs -> Advanced to the location where you want to music to go.
Then go to menu Advanced -> Consolidate library.
This will copy all the music in iTunes to the new location.
Then you can delete \My Documents\/My Music\iTunes\*iTunes music folder*.

  • Can't change music file location

    Hi All,
When I go to preferences>advanced>general and browse to change the locations of my Itunes file (on another hard disk partition)I can not get it to recognize. I need to do this since the first partition is nearly full.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Chris

Sounds like you did something wrong.
Everything worked well until yesterday when some bug appeared which necessitated me reinstalling the system software
All you need to do it start iTunes and hold the Option key and select the library on the 2nd partition.
When you change the iTunes music folder location in the prefs, iTunes will use that folder to store the music but it will not add what is in that folder. You need to do File -> Add to library.
Here's what I did:I simply highlighted all the music folders and dragged them on to the iTunes window. It copied everything, except my ratings, and left the files on the other partition.
Now you have an iTunes library file on each partition. and a new iTunes folder on your 1st partition.
Not a problem but as you see, you did lose your ratings (and date added and a few other fields).
All the old info is still in the library file on the other partition.
As above, start iTunes and hold the Option key and select the library on the 2nd partition.
