Change scan resolution from HP Scan App iMac

I use the HP SCAN app to scan from my Photosmart.  I like it because it lets me crop to constrained size.  However, it seems to scan only at 200 DPI.  I want a higher scan resolution.  I know how to change it through System Preferences, but HP SCAN does not use those settings. How to I adjust the scan resolution from WITHIN HP SCAN application?

OK, from the HP Scan software click the Scan button. From there click the Down arrow () or the Show Details button to view and change any scan settings, including the scan resolution.

    Hi fabiangs,
I'm not sure that I follow. Are you saying that when you open a PDF file in Acrobat or Reader, that the display resolution changes automatically on your system?
What version of Acrobat/Reader are you using? Do you see this same issue in other files/applications?
I look forward to hearing back from you.

  • How do I change the resolution of a scanned document/photo on CC568A?

Its a Photosmart 7520 Series printer.
The scanned documents are way too large to email, and I can't find anywhere on the printer or online on how to change the resolution to shrink the file size.
    Thank you!

    Hi @JeffJohnson,
I see that you are having issues emailing the scans. I can help you.
How are you scanning the emails? (from the computer or the printer)
If you are scanning from the computer to email, you can reduce your file size by:
    1. Reducing the scan resolution. Change the dpi.
    2. Scan your document in black/white or grayscale.
Be aware, that this will change the quality of the scan.
Here is a document for scanning to email from the printer. I don't believe there are any settings to change the size.
How to Scan: From the Control Panel (Including Scan to Email, to a USB Drive, and to a Memory Card).
What operating system are you using? How to Find the Windows Edition and Version on Your Computer.
How is the printer connected? (USB/Ethernet/Wireless)

  • How do I change picture resolution from screen capture?

If I want to take the image on the screen in Encore CS5 and save it as a photoshop picture the resolution is 70 DPI.  Is there any way to change this resolution?  I would like sharper pictures if possible, 100 DPI to 200 DPI if this can be done.
    Encore CS5
    Core 4 2.4 ghz processor
    6 GB Ram
700 GB free on hard drive
    Windows 7 64 bit

I completely agree with your goal - getting as a good a resolution print as possible.  But your focus on dpi for the capture of a frame will not help you.
Kind of like scanning an image.  If you are going to blow it up later you want to scan at higher resolutions than if you don't.  There is of course image quality versus file size issues, etc. etc. but at least I would have the option to change resolutions on capture.
Scanning at a higher resolution adds more pixels.  So, for example, scanning a finely detailed 7.2 x 4.8 inch image at 300 dpi produces 2160 x 1440 pixels.  Scan a grainy photograph similarly, and it will be 2160 x 1440 and look lousy.  Use a 5 megapixel camera to shoot the original scene, you've got more pixels.  If you have only the SD video image, all you have is the 720 x 480 pixel image.  It doesn't matter how you set the dpi on capture, just that you capture all 720 x 480 pixels.
In Premier Pro CS5 and Encore CS5 the image size is 10 inches by 6.667 inches and the resolution is 72 pixels/inch.
Pulling from womble the image size is 7.2 inches by 4.8 inches and the resolution is 100 pixels/inch.
The part you are not listing is the fact that for each of those the pixel size is 720x480.  As long as you capture the 720 x 480, the resolution of the image is not improved by flagging it as 72 dpi or 100 dpi.  You can change that in photoshop for either of those captures, and you get a different print size, but no more or less pixels.
In either case, re-sizing the image in photoshop doesn't change the pixels/inch resolution.  I want to capture the original image in as good resolution as possible rather than having to correct it after capture.
"As good resolution as possible" is 720 x 480.

  • Change apple account from a mac-app.

Hey guys, I have a slight problem. The problem is, I got a mac from a friend of mine, who I really can't talk to because he's mad at me. He baught this Mac, and I got it fully installed. Problem is, I don't have an installation disk, and I want to update iMovie, but it's still under his account, and I don't know the password. Every time I wan't to update it, it sais, there are updates on another account, and I don't know what to do. Do I really have to delete the app, and then buy it again?
I hope you understand enough from my bad English, and the dutch picture...
    Thanks a lot.

Yes, you really do have to delete iMovie and purchase it again through your own Apple ID. Your friend cannot transfer any apps he purchased through the Mac App Store to you, so you will similarly have to delete and repurchase any other apps from the Mac App Store. This includes Mac OS X 10.7, if it was not included with the iMac when it shipped form Apple.
    Regards.

  • Cannot change paper type from Android ePrint app when printing photos

I have the ePrint mobile app installed on my Android phone (Samsung Galaxy S4) and have a Photosmart 7520 printer at home. When I'm at home, I can see the same printer listed twice from ePrint mobile app on my phone, once via ePrint (with the printer's email address shown) and the other via wireless (with the printer's IP address shown). If I were to print a photo from ePrint mobile app, if I select my printer via wireless connection, I can see the option to change the paper type, i.e. either the plain paper or photo paper; but if I select the same printer via ePrint, the option to change paper type no longer appears in the app. When I'm on the go, I can only see my printer via ePrint and I cannot print a photo on plain paper due to the absence of the "paper type" option. However, if I were to print a document via ePrint mobile app, the option to change paper type does show up. So to sum it up: 1) Print photo from ePrint mobile app via wireless -- the "paper type" option is present;2) Print photo from ePrint mobile app via ePrint -- the "paper type" option is absent;2) Print document from ePrint mobile app via ePrint -- the "paper type" option is present. This cannot be by design, correct? Thanks.

    Hi phibei!
    Thank you for posting.
I have done some research on your post.
You are correct, this is by design. This is due to the communication method being used. When using the ePrint app via ePrint it's sending the information via an email and limits the options available.

  • Change grub resolution from within grub console

    Hello!
I'm looking for a way to change the grub resolution from within the grub console. Note, that I am not looking for a way to change the grub resolution in the config files!
This is why I'm asking: my laptop stopped booting whenever the grub resolution is not set to 800x600x32. This is very strange and I do not know the reason for this issue. It hasn't been a problem so far, because I'm just using the config file to set the resolution to 800x600x32.
Now I'm trying to reinstall, but the live discs won't boot since the resolution of grub is not 800x600x32. I tried dropping to console and typing
    set gfxmode=800x600x32
    set gfxpayload=keep
    load_video
    insmod gfxterm
    but nothing happens.
So the question is: Is there any way to change the resolution of grub from its own console? Or is there a way to manipulate the live images before burning them in order to start grub with the desired resolution?
    Thanks so much!

    Did you add
    terminal_output gfxterm
at the end. Although I doubt whether that will change the currently set menu resolution.

You may want to checkout grub-emu (available in grub-bzr aur pkg, not in core/grub). It emulates a grub menu from which you can test all graphics related stuff. I haven't tried it myself though.

  • Contacts App in my macbook pro displays an image and I don't want it. I can change it but I cant just get rid of it. Actually I cant change it, neither from the contacts app or the settings users profiles. Appears changeable but changes dont stick.

The image in question is next to my own entry in the address book. If I open the padlock any change in the selected image appears set but when I send an email the default image still appears so I cant even change it let alone achieve my goal of just not having a silly icon/image next to my name. I actually dont want an image at all, I want my recipients just to recieve my email. I think its really unprofessional to have silly images assigned and I cannot stand to send emails this way. Really appreciate if anyone could help me rid this daft image from my emails and contact app. I just dont get the point of not having control over this silliness myself. Apologes for being grumpy but i just wasted and hour and half trying to simply stop this happening. Really frustrated. I cant use my macbook pro for emailing as they look unprofessional and silly if sent from the mac.
    Thanks for any help.

It doesn't show when you send mail.  It's only there to tell you which user sent the mail.  It does NOT show up on any mail you send.  It should be the image that you selected in System Preferences> Users & Groups > Your Account. That is where you can change it, and it will "stick."

Maybe, but it's not the way I read it. I think the issue here
    is the OP
is not being very clear as to WHAT resolution he's referring
    to. I tried
to clear that up in my post, but I should have replied
    directly to the

  • HP Officejet 8600 Pro - how to change scan resolution presets at the printer

I have an HP Officejet 8600 Pro and wish to scan to email from the printer and wish to change the default resolution setting.   I would like to change the default scan resolution so I dont have to remember to change it every time I scan.
If I change it with the HP Windows Printer Assistant software it only seems to change the resolution for this time and only from the computer not at the printer.
Is it possible to change the scan resolution settings at the printer? I cant find detail in the manual or on the printer console.

    bvlusa,
Open the Icon labeled Officjet Pro 8600 on your desktop, and then click on Scan a Document or Photo. When the Scan application window opens you can change the Resolution from the drop down menu.
    I hope this helps.

  • In Lightroom 4, is it possible to change the resolution when exporting to Facebook?

Is it possible to change the resolution when exporting a photo to Facebook using either the regular plugin or Jeffrey Friedl's plugin?  I can't seem to do it; I only have control over the image dimensions, not the resolution and the dimensions, as you can see in the screen shots below:
I have control over both when I export to my hard drive (or a flash drive, etc.), as you can see below:
I can't find the option to control the resolution when I try to export to Facebook.  Before I got Lightroom 4, I would create whole new low-resolution files of images I wanted to post online using Photoshop.  The image size settings I would use are a longest edge of 10 inches at 72ppi, and I would like to continue doing this.  If I can only set the longest side to 720 pixels (I can't even seem to set the longest edge to an inches value - I can only choose a pixels value) and not change the resolution from 300ppi to 72ppi, then my photos' longest edge will only be less than 3 inches long (right?).  Thus, I really want to be able to upload low-resolution photos to Facebook via Lightroom with the ability to change both the resolution and the image dimensions.  Any idea how to do it without having to export to my hard drive first?  Thanks!

    Rob Cole wrote:
I'd be inclined to set it to zero so it obviously doesn't mean anything
You can set it to whatever you like, and it makes no difference. Most of the time (depending on how you saved it), it will still open as "72".
When you save an image for web, the resolution is usually stripped from the file. It's simply not there anymore. That's probably what happens in the Lr facebook module, and that's why there's no entry for it.
But when you open that image somewhere else, that default of 72 ppi is assigned. Most apps need to know what to do with a file if asked to print it out. So there is a default, and that's usually 72, mostly by convention. With that default ppi, it prints out at a comparable size to what you see on screen at 1:1 display.
And when people see that, they think "hey, web images are 72 ppi". But they're not - that figure is just inserted there by the opening application.

  • Unable to Change Screen Resolution in Remote Session - Windows Server 2012 R2

Does anybody know of a way to allow Remote Desktop users to adjust their own screen resolution in a remote session under Windows Server 2012 R2? We are struggling with this and can't seem to find a solution.
When users login to their RDP session and try to adjust their screen resolution this message is displayed in Control Panel:
"The display settings can't be changed from a remote session."
We don't want to use the "make text and other items larger or smaller" scaling feature, as this produces undesirable results with some of our applications.  We also don't want to have to support multiple types of RDP clients or RDP shortcut
    files.
We have looked at other posts but can't find an answer that applies to Windows Server 2012 R2.  The closest thing we could find is KB2726399, but it only applies to Server 2008.
Does anybody have a solution for Server 2012?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Currently you cannot change the resolution from within the session.  This is normal and expected behavior.
Unfortunately this means you need to set the desired resolution before connecting by using custom .rdp files, manually within the Remote Desktop Client, custom web launch page, custom windows launch program, etc.

A picture is attached with the final result.
    Thanks

Hi, so I have to accept the idea of thinking the resolution that I want before doing any work?
Absolutely. Best practice is to know what your end product is going to be before you start any kind of project.
to me it looks that Keynote should do a better work in that aspect
Its very good at adapting to slide size changes now, earlier versions completely messed up the assets and we had to start over again.
