Change Sequence TC in Premiere Pro?

How do I change the starting timecode of a sequence in Premiere Pro CS6? I've got a feature film in 5 reels and I'd like each reel to start at its corresponding hour, ie: hour 1 for reel 1, hour 2 for reel 2, etc.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks, Ann. You rock...twice. LOL.
Now a question about your handy-dandy circle vignette trick:  I'm trying to match a client's "raptor dinosaur" point of view effect. What they did was stack two layers of the same shot in an Avid timeline. Then they blurred and colored the bottom layer and then used a feathered matte to punch thru the top layer, effectively giving a blurred and colored vignette around a sharp and un-colored central area.
Your great circle vignette trick works for the color, but is there a way to add blur to the transparent layer?

  • How do you change sequence settings in Premiere Pro CS6, and earlier?

Is it possible to change a sequences settings once you've set up the sequence?
In Sequence Settings everything is grayed out so I can't change it.

What type of camera did you record your AVCHD footage on? The reason I ask is because I'm thinking the most likely reason it thought your video was interlaced is because several AVCHD camera's shoot footage that they call "1080p" but it's not actually normal progressive footage. It's actually PsF footage. (Progressive segmented frame)  Which with this footage it just records both fields, so what ends up happening is that Premiere ends up reading the footage like it's interlaced which it basically is, except unlike normal interlaced footage this PsF has both fields. Anyways though you can find out if this is the case by using the modify>interpet option from inside your bin, then if it says that you files field order is anything besides progressive then you'll know you will need to conform the footage to progressive as explained in this article in order to make Premiere work with it properly. Although this issue might not be the same thing you're experincing I just figured I'd mention that since it's fairly common place for AVCHD cameras to record PsF.
You may want to check out this article although it may not apply to you depending on what type of camera you're using. Although they cover basically all the major AVCHD camera makers

  • Working on keyframes in a copied sequence changes the original sequence as well (Premiere Pro CS5.5)

    Hi everyone,
maybe this is a very basic question, but the search in the forum didn't bring up any related questions, so here i go:
Let's say, i copy a sequence in Premiere Pro CS5.5 and paste it in the same project. I have some textclips with keyframes in them. (I do this, because the videos stay the same, i just write different things into them. When i change the keyframes in the copied sequence the way i need them there and then go back to the original sequence, the keyframes there were changed as well. This is not what i wanted.
My question therefore is: How can i make a copy of one sequence and then work on it without changing the original one at the same time? Why are they linked anyway? Is that just a selection in my version of Premiere Pro or is that a general thing?
Would be great, if someone could explain that to me.
    thanks!

If you have not done the New Title Based on Current Title, what you have are Instances of that Title, and they are all linked to the original Title. Make a change, and it is global to all Instances. This is very useful, if for instance, you have a typo. Say that you have used the old Western moivie cliche Title "Meanwhile Bock at the Ranch," a dozen times, only to discover the typo. You only have to correct "Bock" to "Back" one time, and it corrects all Instances of that Title.
With New Title Based on Current Title, you have separate, individual, and un-linked Titles, so any change will ONLY affect the Instances of THAT Title.
While the Instances can be very useful, one can be easily confused, when a change to one Instance affects all others.
    Good luck,

  • Adobe Camera Raw changes not reflecting in Premiere Pro

I was super excited to try out the new CNDG support in Premiere Pro CC 2014, but I have to be honest - I am a bit disappointed...
I am using 16bit Cinema DNG files and the source settings sliders really aren't doing it for me (notice the pink highlights)
That's alright though, I would much rather use Adobe Camera Raw!
    Right click > Edit Original
There we go, that looks nice - no pink highlights, nicely recovered details in the shadows and highlights.
    PERFECT, click DONE!
Nothing...For whatever reason, changes are not reflecting.
Adobe - please allow us to use Adobe Camera Raw, there are so many folks out there that want to incorporate it into their workflow.  I have tried SpeedGrade and various other color correcting tools and I have found Adobe Camera Raw to work the best IMHO
    Thank you for your time.

Hello! I too am having this same problem. I used Camera Raw (both in Bridge and Photoshop to make sure) to adjust and correct the Cinema DNG files I shot with my BMPCC; however, the video sequence in Premiere does not reflect any of the changes made. Why would Adobe not support Camera Raw settings in Premiere?
Sorry, but Premiere Pro does not have a camera raw importer. You adjust the settings in the Source Settings dialog box instead (for RED, ARRI Raw, BMCC and BM Pocket Camera DNG files). You do have access to some controls for these formats, but in some cases, Camera Raw has more controls.

Camera Raw is an amazing tool for refining an image and gives me the best results compared to SG and Davinci. I was so excited to be able to use it once Premiere supported CinemaDNGs but now I'm confused as to why it's not supported.
Cinema DNG from the Blackmagic Cameras are supported, you just adjust settings in Source Settings, as I mentioned. Have you tried that? The reasoning behind this is that Cinema DNG video coming from camera raw is too difficult to playback and edit with.
That said, some users bring Cinema DNG footage to After Effects, adjust the video there, then render out files that are suitable to edit with.

I thought the point of using Adobe was that all their products worked together seamlessly? I really hope they fix this.
You can always make a request here: http://adobe.ly/feature_request, however, I don't see a camera raw importer going into Premiere Pro any time soon (if ever) because of the reasons I previously mentioned (editing with camera raw would be too cumbersome). I think the more realistic feature request would be to add more controls in Source Settings.

  • One Sequence Freezes in Premiere Pro CC 7.2.2

Has anyone had this issue: one sequence in a project freezes playback and then you have to restart Premiere?
I have tried rendering, deleting media cache, creating a new project, changing file permissions to read and write, logging in and out of Creative Cloud, disabled Blackmagic card for audio and video.
    Suggestions greatly appreciated.
Media is on a Thecus NAS server with 10GB fiber connection. Two editors are sharing the same media. Cache files are saved to the server in separate top level folders for each project.
Sequence is Canon XF 23.98 1920x1080. The sequence has other 23.98 footage in it: GoPro HD, ProRes 422 HD, ProRes 3840x2560.
    Premiere Pro CC 7.2.2
    Mac Pro Quad Core 2009
    Mac OS 10.8.5
    36 GB Ram
    Blackmagic Deck Link Studio 2
Thecus NAS N7700 Pro v2 with 10GB fiber connection

There are several things in the next CC updates for PrPro, Speedgrade, & AeFx that many of us are waiting rather ... um ... waiting for. Trying for patiently but mostly just ignoring the passing time. I think what you're referring to is one of the things there. It was slated for a "late-spring/early summer" release. We wuz hoping May ... though we've still got a week or so, right?

  • Is it possible to show the sequence name in Premiere Pro's window titlebar?

Currently the Premiere Pro titlebar displays "Adobe Premiere Pro" and the project file (ie. D:\Videos\2014-04-30 - PPK\_Project Files\PPK.prproj)
I was wondering if anybody knows a way to also display the name of the current sequence you're editing?
I use time tracking software to monitor my Premiere editing times and uses the tilebar name... so if the Premiere titlebar included the sequence name, I would know how long I spent editing a specific sequence in that project.
    I'm using Windows 8.1

  • Cannot map up/down keys for sequence zoom in premiere pro CS 5.5 (Mac)

    Hi all,
Since year and day I use in Premiere Pro my own custom keyboard settings, a slightly modified Avid layout. I always kept and saved the .kys file. It's dated all the way back from CS3 and I used it (within WIndows) up to CS 5.
Now I have a Mac with CS 5.5, but a few things annoy me:
    - If I want to import my .kys file, where to place it? For CS5 in Windows 7, Its \users\somename\appdata\roaming\adobe\premiere pro\5.0 . I have no clue for a similar location on my Mac.
    - More importantly, I cannot create a good working preset based based on Avid. As I map the keys for zooming in the sequence (up and down), it doesn't work and only jumps around to the next and previous screen in my sequence instead of zooming! ANY other key combo works, including FN+Arrow, except for the arrow keys! Thid did not occur on CS5 on my windows machine.
    Thank you and best regards.

Cant find any .kys file on the Mac
Did you check the path I posted above?
    User\Application Support\Adobe\Premiere Pro
It's possible that the Mac version doesn't use file extensions for these files--that's a common Mac trick.
I went to Keyboard Shortcuts, and then Sequence > Zoom In , Zoom Out. I mapped the keys Up and Down to them. If I select my current sequence I'm working in, and try to zoom in with the freshly mapped keys, nothing happens but again it skips to a later point in the timeline.
Yep; I can replicate this behavior on a PC, but...
Originally the arrow keys are used for 'Next/Previous Screen' in the Avid preset I modified, but I cant find that setting nowhere in my Keyboard Shortcuts dialog.
That's precisely why. I'm not sure how Premiere Pro assigns priority to different commands, but clearly, if those commands are set, they override the desired behavior that you assigned above. The solution is simple: go to Panels > Timeline Panel (or just search for "screen") and clear the shortcuts for Show Next Screen and Show Previous Screen (or assign them to other keyboard shortcuts), like this:
Once you do that, the Up and Down keys as assigned in Application > Sequence > Zoom In/Out will operate as you like.
FWIW, I don't think this qualifies as a bug; it's simply a matter of something having to take precedence/priority over something else. Hope that works for you.

  • Missing Sequence Presets in Premiere Pro CC

I've recently installed Premiere Pro CC and there are loads of presets missing on the new sequences dialogue box.
Beside, I can't open and preview MP4 file which works fine in CS6.
My operating system is Windows 7.
I've tried these two methods and didn't solve the problem:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/kb/features-presets-missing-premiere-pro.html
    http://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/kb/missing-sequence-presets.html
    Any help will be appreciated!

MP4 and MXF files used to work well in cs6, why can't those files work with cc version?
I hope these 3 screen shots will help you understand my problem, Thanks for your kindness!

  • Crash rendering sequence with titles, Premiere Pro CC

Just establishing fresh thread for CC from the reply I posted in the Premeire CS6 thread.
    Summary with updates:
After adding titles from Premeire's bult in titler, on a 1080/24p sequence containing a mix of 4k R3D and 1080 ProRes 422 files, I received the following error when trying to render *some* of the clip previews with those title overlays:
"Sorry, a serious error has occurred that requires Adobe Premiere Pro to shut down. We will attempt to save your current project."
Subsequently, Premeire wouldn't actually shut-down, but switch to a recovery file.
Disabling the title on the 2nd layer would result in the underlying video rendering without issue.  Trashing media cache files did not remedy the problem.
Exporting video seems to function, though the render/export times have quadrupled from before adding the simple, text-over-video titles to the project.  A 15 minute sequence containing 70% 4k raw/30% 1080 ProRes422 and with roughly 3 minutes of title overlays is about an 8 hour render vs. 2 hours without the titles.

Well, certainly one of my sequences (let's call it "A") always causes a crash.  Sequence B was NOT causing a crash last week.  Today sequence B started crashing (in 7.0).  So I updated to 7.01 and tried again.  Still crashing (always, now).  So I set out to create a new sequence C.
To create sequence C, I opened a successfully completed project from last week.  I Saved As... "New Opening Sequences".  Next, I cut away every sequence except for the sequence that holds the intro.  I did a Project > Remove Unused to get rid of all the footage, titles, etc.  Now I had a project that only contained Sequence C and it's linked media.  Nothing is offline.  Everything is in tact.
Finally, I open the project I need to finish today.  I need to add the bumper to the front of the video.  So I navigate within the Media Browser to find the "New Opening Sequences" project.  I double click.  I get the yellow, dynamic link-like loading bar.  When the project media, bins and sequences appear, I double-click the sequence I want to impor.... KKKKKEHEHHE!!!  Crash.
I'll restart to get you the exact error message...
WOW!!!  I just left this window open to go get the exact error message for you.  I went through the same steps above.  It worked this time.  So to answer your question, Sequence C is also hit or miss.  This is the first successful attempt today (about 10 previous tries, restarts, etc).
Definitely seems like a bug.  Can anyone else reproduce this crash?
P.S. - Perhaps it's significant, perhaps not:  In all cases, A, B and C, these sequences have Dynamic Linked footage from After Effects (animations).  While they do have some live-action, they are primarily AE animations.  This may help you reproduce the crash.
I'm also not running anything unusual.  Mainly the OS, a browser, Webroot SecureAnywhere (Anti-virus), Premiere.

  • Change encore timeline from premiere pro cs5 via dynamic link?

I'm sure this has been covered before, but I can't find
anything on dynamic link in this forum.
I created my video in encore, and exported the sequence to encore via dynamic link.
I then created all my menus etc. in Encore, after which I noticed a couple of glitches I wanted to change, so I went back to premiere and edited the changes.
How do I get encore to pick up on these changes? It didn't happen automatically as I had hoped, and I don't want to have to recreate  my menu structure again in Encore.
So, basically, how do I make a change in Premiere, and have it reflected in my Encore project without creating a new project?
    thanks,
    Andy

    I have a similar problem:
I created a project in PremPro CS5, then used Adobe Dynamic Link which loaded into Encore
where I created menus then saved off both PremPro and Encore.
Today I opened each to make add some titles in PremPro, however, Dyn Link did not send them to Encore
as I assumed it would. How do I get link to do what I have been lead to believe it will do, that is, carry
over changes from PremPro to Encore?
(I tried "Revert to Original" botton suggestion but Encore does not give me this option.
Seems like a strange suggestion since I want to update not revert.)
    Details would be helpful.
    Thx

  • The new Import Sequence feature causes Premiere Pro CC to CRASH!

*** This was happening before the update, and the update to 7.01 has not fixed this issue.***
I have a series of intros and end slates for a YouTube series.  I (kind of) love the new Import Sequence from Project feature, new in PPr CC.  But more often than not, trying to import a sequence from another project using the Media Browser causes Premiere to crash.  Can anyone else report whether this is NOT working for you, too.  I can imagine scenarios where you either don't use this feature, or haven't gotten around to it since the launch of CC.
Thanks in advance for anyone who is willing to test and verify whether this is a bug.

  • How do you change sequence settings in Premiere CC

I bought me a new external disk and I copied the project over to my new disk.
But how do I change the sequence settings to my new disk?

I see it now that it can be misunderstood a bit. What I mean is that I wan´t to change the render workflow that you choose when you start a new project.

  • Random frames in sequence after render, Premiere Pro Cs6

I've had this problem a few times before, but I'm going to finally open up about it since this is happening beyond my personal projects and is effecting my corporate work.
After I do a render of my entire sequence I end up with a frame of a title I created at the start, in all my cross dissolves.
Here's a video of the problem. I've read of someone having the same problem in the past, but I can't recall how they solved it.
I really don't understand what the problem is, and it's effecting my work. I've tried clearing my cache, re-rendering, clearing render files, and re-rendering, and all the procedural stuff.

That worked in removing the opaque title in this specific situation. I'll keep it in mind for the next time I need a solid background color. Thank you.
But how would you go about trying to resolve a random frame in the middle of a clip? The frame is of a shot earlier in the sequence, and it has no reason to randomly appear in the middle of a rendered clip. No transitions, just hard cut and placed together clips.
I'd post screenshots of that situation, but I had already tore apart the sequence and re-rendered it to make it work.
For whatever reason, out of the blue, when I render footage a random frame from the sequence will occasionally embed itself in the video preview files that were just rendered in the sequence.
As for this project. I exported this corporate shoot, and the slightly opaque titles weren't in the cross dissolves, thankfully. The client was happy, but I was still confused as to why my rendered video previews would contain random frames of the sequence. For just a frame.
