Change site name in google

Hello,
I have published my site trough iweb on my mobile me account. When I look up my site on google it shows "about". How can I change my sites name?

Is the first page of your site named About? If so change the page title to something else in iWeb and republish.
Or, use the free iWeb SEO Tool to give that page a new title that you would want to show up in the google search.
It can access the site on your iDisk, add the title tag to the About page and save it. SEO remember the tags it has assigned to each page of your site so it can be easily reapplied with just one click of the button after any edits and republications are made.

  • Site name on Google

When my site comes up in a Google search, it's name is "Home" rather than the site name. Same is true on the Safari "Window" list once the site is up. How do I correct?

    Hi there,
names/titles of pages are changed in iWeb itself, go to the page and see where "Home" is written in the content of the page (in which textfield). Then type the new name you'd like the page to have. Publish. Visit your site on the net or in folder to see if it changed.
Google will not take up the new name instantly... It really takes quite a long time sometimes until google updates it's entries.

  • Change Site Name, how to announce??

    Hi,
currently i've change my Site's Name let say from www.xxxx.com/xxx to www.xxx.com/yyy
instead of announce this changing through email, any other ways to announced it?
when site name is changed, the bookmark will not reganize the URL then...and it'll shown the error page "We 're Sorry, but we can't......" can i make this error as an announcement for the new URL?posible?
    Thanks!!!

Add the following code to an HTML snipped in the first page of your old site:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    parent.location.replace('URL TO YOUR NEW SITE');
    </script>
    This redirects the visitor immediately.
Or you can do a different redirect using this code added post publication to the entry page of your old site:
    <script type="text/javascript" src="Redirect_files/Redirect.js"></script>
    <meta http-equiv="REFRESH" content="10;url=URL TO YOUR NEW SITE">.
Add the above code just before the </head> tag in that page. You can edit the page in the old site so that it just has text telling them that they are being redirected and to remember to bookmark the new site. The "10; number is the number of seconds to wait before redirecton takes place. You can change it to a shorter time, long enough for the visitor to be able to read the message. You can also put a text hyperlink to the new site for those who are too impatient to wait for the redirection.
This demo page uses the latter method and has the code to use.

  • Change site name

i've published my iWeb site to a folder on my desktop.
    Not to the web yet.
Because for some strange reason, each time i publish (save) my site to
a folder, the folder name always has an underscore at the end.
I did NOT put an underscore at the end of my site name.
On the list inside iWeb, the Site name at the very top does NOT have an underscore at the end.
And my domain name does not has an underscore at the end either.
So I don't know where the underscore at the end of my site name comes from
after I've published to a folder.
It's like this: Before I publish, in iWeb it's www.xxxyyyzzz.com
After I publish to a folder, the folder name is www.xxxyyyzzz_.com
When open the pages in the folder to test how it would look on the web, it has the underscore at the end of the name in the web address bar too. This is weird, I can't figure it out.
I don't know how to fix this except to duplicate the site in iWeb (which does not have an underscore), and publish that one. Maybe it won't have an underscore after published to a folder.
How do i do this without screwing things up.
So, how can I just get rid of that mysterious underscore and I guess change the
name of my site so that it doesn't have an underscore at the end?
Like I said, i haven't published to the web yet, just to a folder in my desktop.
    thanks!

sorry, my bad ... i guess i didn't explain it right.
when i said my domain name, I meant the actual name of my website,
when it's on the web. I thought that's called the domain name.
I use this same name, without an underscore, for my site in iWeb, and
i also name the folder that I publish it to the same name.
For example, let's say the name of my actual registered website is www.yahoo.com
so, in iWeb, the Site name on top of the list I've named "yahoo"
And the folder on my desktop that I publish to is also named "yahoo"
But for some reason, when I publish my "yahoo" site to my "yahoo" folder,
the folder name changes to "yahoo_"
I guess what i need to know is it safe to rename the folder that I publish to?
Say, it now has an under score. Is it safe to rename it without the underscore,
or will that screw up anything?

  • Changing Sites' Names

Although I am expecting this to happen, but when it does happen, it's really irritating.
I read in one of the support documents in Apple's Support site, stating that if I want to change the site or page names, I'll have to do it in the site navigation menu and hold down Option key while click Publish All to .Mac. I have 2 sites in my iWeb, both set up to use my personal domain name. I wanted to change the original site names because there were 'space', capital letters, and mandarin characters that appear to be very confusing and difficult.
So after changing both the site names and some page names, I hold down Option key while click Publish All to .Mac. It didn't work for several times, with error message (at first was connection problem, then it just simply showed that there were error, no code no nothing). When it finally worked after several hours of trying, I lost all the comments in my iWeb.
I am wondering if this is how it's supposed to work? I mean, if the comments were supposed to be lost after you have changed the site name, then why in the first place Apple didn't state that?
Another funny thing is, after publishing and noticing that the comments are gone in my iWeb, I emptied cache in Safari and tried to visit the published page. Both the pages are there, of course with no comments. Then I went back to the pages with the old site names, and I can still visit those sites (with the old URLs with capital letters, mandarin characters, etc.) and the comments are there!
I hope someone can help me out with this. Contacting Apple regarding iWeb never solve my problem, and this is really a sad thing. Many thanks in advance!

I've had a similar problem. Lost ALL COMMENTS after changing the site around... very frustrating. I have a backup of my original domain file, and when i open it at first they comments are there, but when I go to publish, they disappear. What's up with this?

  • Changing Site Name

I changed my sites name and now iTunes isn't finding my rss feed. How do I fix this? Do I resubmit my site to iTunes?
    thanks,

Yes you can get you're own www.personaldomain.com address. It is very simple to do this and you do not have to take your iWeb site off of the .Mac servers. There are quite a few third party hosts which you can buy a domain from, once you have purchased this domain, you just link it to your web address Apple give you to your purchased domain. Personally I have an iWeb site I've made located at web.mac.com/jgurbisz/iweb but I bought the domain http://www.vacantnewjersey.com from Yahoo Small business and linked it to my .Mac web address. And now when you type in the www. address it brings my iWeb page up.
Just keep in mind that when searching for a Domain Host, that they provide "Domain Forwarding" (almost all hosts do)

  • Changing Site Name Problem

When I change my site name and upload my published folders to my site the site does not show up and I have to revert to the earlier "site' name. For instance I originally left the name "Site" as the site name and changed, saved, published, and uploaded later to a new site name. The browser could not see the new name and no site was available. Any help is much appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Tried to change "Welcome" so when opens gives site name , valid info, instead of simply 'Welcome."  Site can not be found once I change "Welcome" to other name...

Tried to change "Welcome" so when you type in webpage "millerstalemusic.com" and it opens main search page, you see the site, but it says "Welcome" the search page.  I want it to have site name, valid info, instead of simply "Welcome."
Site can not be found once I change "Welcome" to another name...
Changed name from "Welcome" to another name.  Google wants "Welcome" or can't find my site.  I do not want "Welcome" to be the first thing seen on search page when searching with my website name for my site.  Why can't Google find me?  Changed name back, and worked, but #@!*?!!,
What to do?  Yes, I "Double Clicked" and all that, but internet is insisting "Welcome" remains...
How does Google recognize my site?  I was told it can take 2 months or longer for Google to discover I don't want to have
    "Welcome" as my main Keyword!
    Help!

    hi,
I saw your website the page is named just welcome and it appears as welcome on google search.
The title of your webpage just needs to be changed and nothing else.A Title of your web page is what appears on google findings and it is the title that appears on the top most bar of browser window. On the top most bar of browser is written apple - support. and this is what will appear on google findings. 'Apple - support'
If you know HTML, just change the title.
I dont know but I think Google takes about less than 2 days to find your site thruugh its robots maybe even faster. My site appeared as i checked it - after two days and i didnt go and list it in addyoururl.

  • Changing Muse site name

    Hi,
Does anyone know how to change the site name once you've created the site?
I originally created my site and called it www.jameslewisphoto.co.uk, and that is how it appears on google. However, I'd like it to say just James Lewis Photography.
    Any thoughts? Thanks

    Thanks for your reply.
My site is currently saved as James Lewis Photo, not www.jameslewisphoto.co.uk. I think it's more to do with domain name. Do you know of any settings that would change this on Business Catalyst?

  • How do I remove old web site when publishing new site with same URL in iweb? Hit replace when publishing new iweb site (so we could have control over changes) but new site name is attached to old via a / after our www address we want to keep.

I hit the replace when publishing the new iweb site (so we could have control over changes - last one was not an apple based site) but new site name is attached to old via a forward slash and underscore after our www address. Makes it very messy with a very long web address.  Original address now followed by iweb site name followed by name of first page? Went for iweb as not that computer literate - all going so well?! Cheers for help in anticipation. Have to get off to work now but be great end to week if we could be sorted tonight. Rupes

Well yes of course, if you try and publish through iWeb there won't be an option to publish without your site folder which is exactly why I told you to download Cyberduck and use Cyberduck to upload your site to your server having published your site from iWeb to a local folder.  That is what you need to do if you don't want your site name to be included in yoru url.
It would have been easier also if you had used Cyberduck initially to connect to your server and delete your old site yourself - at least that way you would have deleted the correct files rather than relying on your hosting service to do it and doing it incorrectly.
Download Cyberduck and then select the publish to a local folder option from iWeb and then use Cyberduck to upload your site to your server, but rather than uploading the whole site folder and separate index file, upload ONLY the contents of your site folder and then your url will be http://www.domain.com/page_name.html.
    It really isn't rocket science!

  • Dreamweaver CS4 - Existing Site Name Changed in Manage Sites

Please help me! I have an existing site name from Manage Sites become slightly different site name from original.
For example, existing site name was fashionstars, now become ftp://fashionstars, with ftp:// in it. ( It happen when I did some try and error approach to do certain task, or press the wrong buttons etc) Is there any possibility to change back to original name fashionstars and how to do it? Otherwise I won't be able to upload files to remote site because of different site name appeared in Manage Sites.
Should I remove the modified site name ftp://fashionstars and recreate a new site name fashionstars and copy all exiting files from local site folder to new fashionstars?
    Regards,
    SSYYDD

Additional information, I use MacBook Pro to run Dreamweaver CS4.  The existing site has 150 MB file size, hundreds of files, so to recreate new site name, it has to start to create all manually, will take a long time. Is there any other ways I can recreate site fashionstars without to start all over again?
I am very worry about this, it may not be able to fix it. My website is stuck, won't be able to upload files any more.
Another problem is that I lost the SITE DEFINITIONS for fashionstars or htp://fashionstars . When I go to Manage Sites to edit site of ftp://fashionstars, it goes to CONFIGURE SERVER, not the SITE DEFINITIONS for fashionstars or ftp://fashionstars. Please help me.
( note  that I use the name fashionstars as an example only, not my real site name)
    Thank you.
