''Change'' Skype username???

Hy. As I can read Skype admins said, changing Skype username isn't possible becouse of security reasons. I have to make objection about this claim. If this is security problem why Skype administrators didn't solwe problem as my???
One day when I try to create my Skype account I realised that somebody used my email to make Skype account. Then I reset Skype account password of this account ([Removed for privacy]) and configure this account as my. I explored and found out that some guy from Bosnia use my e mail address to create Skype account. I change his profile and password and he lost his (my) profile becouse he was unable to use my E mail address and he can't reset password or do something else.
This all isn't problem (mybe this guy have similar E mail address and he mybe make mistake when he wont to make his own Skype account) but problem is that I have Skype user name ([Removed for privacy]) of this guy but not my becouse I'm (tomislav.medurecan). Becouse of that I would like to change my Skype user name.
What can Skype admins say about this problem???

I fully agree with you. I think it is ridiculous that Skype will not allow people to change usernames, I have read of some very valid reasons for wanting to change a username (including your reason). One reason given on another thread was about a transgender female who has now legally changed her name... yet Skype cannot similarly facilitate her name change on their system... incredibly insensitive and discriminatory in my opinion.
SORT IT OUT Skype and get up-to-date with your security processes to allow the option of username changes.

I would like to change my Skype username

I know that this is a topic that most people get annoyed with answering, but I feel like this is really important to me as well. See, I made my Skype account back when I was in seventh grade and in my scene and 'edgy' phase and so it's kind of innappropriate since, at the time, I was not thinking about the consequences of what I used for my username.
I'm now an aspiring voice actress and a video game designer and I feel like I should have a more professional username and I wish that I would be able to do that. Is there any way that, possibly, in the near future the policy could be changed to allow people to change their usernames even if only once or twice?

So I've had this account for many years, but since it is possible to get an IP via Skype calls and so on.
I would like to change my username, since I removed many contacts that I don't know and don't want
them in my list.
Is it possible for me to change my username?
I only ask for username-change, nothing advanced. I would really like this to happen
since I really want to protect my identity. I've had some DDoS attacks lately too.

Is there a way to change my username on Skype or do I have to sign up for a whole new account? If I do have to sign up for a whole new account, how can I import all of my contacts from my last Skype handle?

Change Skype ID

How the heck do i get ahold of somebody at Skype so i can get my Skype ID changed? I started working for an employer that has a Skype corporate account and my ID was setup automatically for me. It got setup as <FirstName>.<LastName>1.rp where rp is the company I work at (RedPrairie).
I've heard numerious times where people said they've sent me Skype contact requests but I have never accepted, because they send it to <FirstName>.<LastName>.rp without the 1. The problem is the 1 after my last name. My name is unique and there is NOT another person with the same Skype ID.
How do i go about changing my Skype ID from <FirstName>.<LastName>1.rp to <FirstName>.<LastName>.rp
Sombody please reply with assistance.

If you selected open a new Apple ID account, go back a step and enter use existing Apple ID.
You will have to set up a separate iCloud account or your iPads will mirror each other.

Can't change my username to my email address

I am experiencing a problem that looks fairly unique. I've searched all around and haven't found any similar cases.
I have an iTunes account with username albedoa associated with a verified email address which I will refer to as email. I know that iCloud will require a username in email format, so I wanted to switch my username to email. In my account settings, I saw this option:
Make your Apple ID and primary email address one and the same.
Your Apple ID will be easier to remember, and your account will be easier to access and manage.
Change your Apple ID and primary email address to:
email
I clicked the Submit button, and nothing happened. I tried it in both Chrome and Safari, but each time the page would reload and my username would still be shown as albedoa. If I tried to edit the username directly to reflect email, I received the following error:
This email address is already in use or you may already have an Apple ID associated with this email address. Please try again or sign in using your existing Apple ID.
So I made a new account with the username email and associated it to the email address email (the same as the other account). However, I cannot install my purchased apps using that account because they were purchased using my other account. What is going on here? How am I to retain my purchases when iCloud is activated? I don't have a MobileMe account.

OK I figured out a workaround. Here are the steps:
1. Go to iforgot.apple.com and retrieve/reset the password for the 'email address' account that you want ([email protected] let's say).
2. Once you have the password for the 'email address' account login to appleid.apple.com using the email address login.
3. Change the username/primary email to another email address that you have access too that is different from the email you want your primary AppleID to be.
4. Verify the change from step 3 by clicking on the link in the confirmation email.
5. Login to appleid.apple.com using your primary, non-email address account and click 'edit' next to the Apple ID field and change it to match the email you want.
6. Click Save Changes at the bottom.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > iTunes & App store, scroll down and tap your ID)
If you are using iMessages or FaceTime, you will also need to log out and into your ID there too.

Had my hard drive replaced and I've restored from TimeMachine backup. I have changed my username and now I can't access my old backups on my TimeMachine hard drive

I've recently had my hard drive replaced in the Apple Store.
I used time machine to backup and after I got my mac back with the new hard drive I restored all my files which are now on my computer and I can access it with no problems.
The problem is that I've changed my username (admin) and when I enter time machine, I can't access the backups of my old hard drive which is really frustrating.
A red negative sign appears on most folders. Also in macintosh HD/users there is a folder named with my old username and I get the same red negative sign in the folders.
Any idea what can be done about this?

Turn Time Machine OFF temporarily in its preference pane. Leave the window open.
Navigate in the Finder to your backup disk, and then to the folder named "Backups.backupdb" at the top level of the volume. If you back up over a network, you'll first have to mount the disk image file containing your backups by double-clicking it. Descend into the folder until you see the snapshots, which are represented by folders with a name that begins with the date of the snapshot. Find the one you want to restore from. There's a link named "Latest" representing the most recent snapshot. Use that one, if possible. Otherwise, you'll have to remember the date of the snapshot you choose.
Inside the snapshot folder is a folder hierarchy like the one on the source disk. Find one of the items you can't restore and select it. Open the Info dialog for the selected item. In the Sharing & Permissions section, you may see an entry in the access list that shows "Fetching…" in the Name column. If so, click the lock icon in the lower right corner of the dialog and authenticate. Then delete the "Fetching…" item from the icon list. Click the gear icon below the list and select Apply to enclosed items from the popup menu.
Now you should be able either to copy the item in the Finder or to restore it in the time-travel view. If you use the time-travel view, be sure to select the snapshot you just modified. If successful, repeat the operation with the other items you were unable to restore. You can select multiple items in the Finder and open a single Info dialog for all of them by pressing the key combination option-command-I.
When you're done, turn TM back ON and close its preference pane.

Changed icloud username and password can't access other devices

I have three devices from which I use the same iTunes and ICloud account. I changed my username and password on the accounts yesterday. Now I am only able to get it to work on my IPhone 5S. My daughter's IPhone 4 and my IPad will not accept the new passwords. I can't access FaceTime or IMessage on those devices as it keeps prompting me that it is incorrect and to reset. If I reset, it won't work on my IPhone 5S. Help!

If you mean that Find My Phone is asking for a password to a different Apple ID to your current Apple ID and that ID is a previous version of your current ID, not an entirely different one.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details and some other circumstances.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device. It may take a short while to remove the account.
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

Now to make sure that we are on the same page, as long as you have followed the steps from the original article that you came from then you should be good. Those steps were to sign out of iTunes with the AOL account and then sign back in to walk you through converting it to an email address as the username. As long as when looking at your Apple ID that is signed into iTunes, you see an email address then you have made the change. If you are still stuck then I would recommend that you contact Apple before the deadline of March 31st so you will not have any issues.

As you can imagine, I would prefer the following:
"Volker Gueldenpfennig"
This seems to be caused by a wrong conversion between your databases from UTF-8 to ASCII Latin-1 ...
But, I was not able to change my username ...
Could you please help me with the trick ?

Login Hook stops working once I've changed the username

Hello. I need to change the usernames for a number of local accounts on a 10.5.8 mac. The accounts were set up by someone else who is no longer working at this education insitution and hasn't left any documentation. Currently when each user logs on, a script runs that does the following

However, once I change the users account name, the script doesn't seem to run correctly as the screen captures fail due to not having write permission in the intended destination.
I rename the UserName the ShortName, the HomeDirectory and the folder here /Library/Scripts/GHS/Docks/UserName
The idea is, once I've updated this one mac with all the new accounts, I will then duplicate the image across all the others that we have
I'm very new to this and I'm not sure how much of this works

I'm handing off my 24" iMac to my dad and I want to change the Username that appears in Finder - Places (on left side of window. I try to edit, but it will not let me. I have changed the System Pref to reflect his name and make him the the Admin for the computer. Now I want to change this part. I can't find any info on this subject. Anyone have an answer? Thanks!

Control-click that account, choose Advanced Options, change the home folder name, restart, and move everything from the old home folder to the new one.
