Change song with volume buttons on N8?

When the phone is locked and in my pocket I often want to change to the next song.
Is it possible to remap the volume buttons to do this somehow?

nope
you can only adjust the volume from them (even when the phone is locked something i couldnt do on my 5800 so nice update there) but you can always just use the headset.....

IdeaPad Z370 and Ubuntu 11.10 64 bit - problem with volume buttons

I recently bought my new Lenovo IdeaPad Z370 without operating system and installed Ubuntu 11.10 64 bit (the pre-installed system was FreeDOS which I decided to remove).
Nearly all is working fine. The only exception are the volume keys: pressing them does start adjusting the volume, but causes a system problem. If I press sound up, the speakers move to immediately to the maximum volume and behave as it I was continuing to press the button.
The same happens when pressing the volume down or sound off buttons. It is then not possible any more to use the keyboard or type anyting, nor change the volume using the touchpad and Ubuntu's speaker symbol. It is also not possible any more to shut down the computer using Ubuntu's virtual shutdown button, but with the real button on the computer.
The touchpad is still working and after putting the computer briefly into standby the problem is solved to the degree that it is possible to use the keyboard etc. again, and the sound volume can be adjusted again with Ubuntu's speaker symbol.
I guess this must be a driver issue that ubuntu 11.1 does not support the buttons.
As well, the one-key-theatre button and the thermal-management button do not work. Pressing them, just nothing happens (except that the light up).
I should mention that installing Ubuntu apparently deleted the partitions including the one-key recovery button. At least this key does now only work like a second power-button. Unfortunately I did not receive the User-guide with the computer but only downloaded from the internet after installing Ubuntu.
I wonder whether apart from adjusting the volume buttons, it might be possible to get the one-key-theatre button and thermal-management-button operational for ubuntu too, and whether the one-key-recovery button could work under ubuntu too. Gparted tells me that I have 2 small partitions of 3.9 GiB each, labeled "extended" and "windows swap", and one of 1.02 GiB which is not in use apart from the main drive of course.

The issue you are encountering is due to driver absence in Linux.
The driver for Linux is not available. Hope, Ubuntu new version have more applications and drivers.

Issue with volume buttons on keyboard

I have a Pavilion g7-1167dx Notebook, using Windows 8.
I've had this problem for a long time, but just got around to trying to fix it. The raise/lower volume buttons on the keyboard usually work fine. However, after a while (a few uses or a few days), when I press either of these buttons, the Volume image will appear on my screen and display the current volume level, but I will be unable to actually change the volume.
To restore their usability, I need to open sndvol32 (or the volume icon on the bottom right of the screen) and change the volume any amount. After doing so, the keyboard volume buttons begin working again.
Any idea what is causing the volume buttons to stop working as I've described?

Itunes resets dock and wallpaper everytime i change songs with keyboard

hey everyone, im having a problem with this new update. ok itunes works fine and everything but when i change songs in the application, or on the keyboard, the dock and my desktop reloads. when i mean by reloading the dock disappears and raises up, my wallpaper does the same

Not silly at all. Over the years I have undertaken the gargantuan task of converting my entire CD collection to mp3. It's a huge collection and a massive set of mp3s. More than I care to keep on my PC hard drive. So, from time to time I move some from external hard disk storage onto my PC's hard drive. So, I don't really want the library to grow as much as I want it to be fluid. But I don't necessarily want to remove ALL the songs currently on my mp3 player when I add new ones. Other mp3 players I have owned were a little more flexible in this regard. Heck, even the $50 Disney mp3 player I just bought my 7 year old for Christmas is more flexible than the Shuffle.
You should ONLY have to add the deleted songs back
to the library AND Shuffle... I suggest you think
about trading up to a Nano which functions more like
you would like the Shuffle to do.

If you are completely confident that you didn't hide it, then you purchased those with different apple id. If you completely confident that you purchases with same apple id then you have hidden it. One of the other or you are speaking about a miracle. While miracles are possible they are not very likely. Remember

Restore as new, if that fixes the problem it is something in your settings or backup that was causing the issue.
If it does not fix the problem, you have a hardware issue.

Anyone had problems with volume button (6th gen)

Volume button appears to act as if stuck - not constantly but in last days more and more - even if I hold down + button (to increase the volume) the volume then instantly reduces (as if I am pressing the - button) ... or I can be listening to music and then volume suddenly reduces (nothing is touching the - volume button).

This can happen to all of the buttons on this model. Theres is basically a pad on top of each of the clicky parts on the buttons on the inside of the ipod that WILL come off after being used alot, some genius design. When the pad comes off there will be a space between the button on the outside and the clicky part on the inside rendering the button useless. It costs 75$ to replace if it isnt under warrenty and the ipods you get back from the repair are refurbished, which will break even sooner. I've gone through four of the ipod nano 6 gen, i dont abuse it or drop it. Avoid this model and shoot for older ipods. Or simply dont shop at apple at all.

#2 - take the iPod Nano to an Apple store or an AASP. Whichever is more convenient for you.

Issues with volume button

Have an iPad 2 that's just 2 weeks old. Has been working fine until tonight when I went to turn down the volume...wouldn't turn down, will only turn up. Anyone else had this happen and suggestions to try and fix?

Volume buttons loose

I notice my volume buttons are slightly loose. I went to the apple store and almost every iPhone 4 on display had either the lock/unlock or home or volume buttons loose...I only have the volume button. I would hate to swap it and get one with the home button loose.
Any one else with volume button loose?

What constitutes a loose VOLUME button and not a HOME button is when you move it up and down it feels loose instead of being rock solid like I have seen on some iP4...and I find it annoying. Some would not...call it OCD if you like but I don't like it. Now the thing is that I know there are more people having issues with HOME loose button which is worse in my opinin so I would hate exchanging mine and get solid VOLUME button but loose HOME or ON/OFF buttons!

The iPod was bought in America, however I live in South Africa and there is no official Apple support over here.
To my understanding Apple warranty is international? Should I try get a replacement through Apple (and how?) or just take it to a third party repair shop over here?

You have 14 days from the date of purchase to get a "replacement." As for repairs, the standard warranty is one year from the date of purchase. The extended Warranty is called Apple Care which last 2 years from the date of purchase.

Volume Button to shuffle songs

I am having a problem with the "Shake to Shuffle" when jogging. I find it hard to switch to the next song without skipping couple of songs in the process.
I am aware that it could be deactivated from Settings->Music->Shake to Shuffle.
I was wondering if it would be easier to use the volume control button (on the side) to switch songs for a brief amount of time?
So when the Home button is pressed, give the user the option to alter the functionality of the volume button to switch songs (instead of raising volume). Then revert back to volume control after few seconds of inactivity.

Most podcast episodes are set to skip during shuffle mode. Go into 'get info' for them and change the setting. Don't remember right now if it is a check box or drop down. No way to turn this off by default, when new episodes download they will be set to skip also.

Volume buttons interfere with firefox plugins

Hey there ThinkPad community!
Recently I have noticed that when using the Adobe Reader Plugin for firefox the volume won't change anymore upon pressing the volume buttons. The onscreen display pops up showing the current volume yet it won't increase or decrease. When pressing the mute button nothing happens at all. This behavior only occurs when the focus is set on the plugin (i.e. I have clicked somewhere on the PDF)
Also when I am watching a flash video like this one: German News (and again the focus is on the plugin) odd things like video pausing will happen whenever I press or hold one of the three volume buttons. At least then the volume does change.
Is this a problem of firefox or is it one of the ThinkPad drivers?
I am using firefox 11.0

Shockwave Flash plugin version 11.1.102.62
on a X201t with Windows 7 Professional 64bit SP1
