Change source mac address in real-time

How can I send Ethernet packet with fake source Mac address, or using more than one mac address upon one physical interface (probably by using some DLPI massage)?

HI,
The mac address of a machine can be changed with command #ethers or ether chekup with the 1 given by u . # ether

  • How to change the mac address of thunderbolt to ethernet adapter?

    Hello everyone,
    I am using Macbook pro retina display 2013 version. I have bought a thunderbolt to ethernet adapter in order to connect my Macbook to LAN. But in my area there is a shared line and I have to clone their mac address to my Macbolok. I could not change the mac address of my thunderbot to ethernet adapter. Can anyone please tell me how to change the mac address of thunderbot to ethernet adapter step by step??
    Thanks in advance.

    Open terminal and type the followings;
    1) sudo ifconfig bridge0  ether xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx(it will be your new mac address)
    2) Type your password to confirm
    3) ifconfig bridge0 |grep ether (to see if change is successful)
    PS: *This should with your thunderbolt adapter, but its not working usb to ethernet adapters without installing required drivers.
           ** You may need to do these steps every time you boot your mac.

  • Change phone mac addresses in bulk

    Running 7.1
    I have a block of 80 phones that I need to change out. They are exactly like the old phones so all that I need to do is change the mac address in the device information field. What I was hoping is there was an easier way to do this. I will have to do this multiple times. I was looking at the phone migration tool but that looks like it changes other fields except just the mac address. Is there a way to do this?

    Hello,
    yes you are right. Here are some screenshots:

    After export, you delete the phones. Update the CSV with excel and import the CSV (all details).

  • I need to change the MAC Address for Airport on MacBook

    I have a specific need to change my son's Airport MAC address as his school requires the use of USB network cards that aren't compatible with MACs. These cards are needed because the school's router uses MAC address filtering.
    Before we upgraded his Mac to Snow Leopard, we were able to change the MAC address to the MAC address of the useless dongal the school supplied. We basically created an AppleScript program that ran the "sudo ifconfig en1 ether xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx" and all was good.
    This command no longer works for changing the MAC address. We tried it as root user as well and by typing it into the terminal window as root. After running the command, we can run "ifconfig en1" and it does display the new mac address but when we turn the airport on and try to connect, it just hangs and won't connect.
    Our other non-Snow Leopard still works fine after running the commands so I'm guessing Apple disabled this functionality. It's hardly a security issue by being able to change your mac addres.
    Is there a new way to accomplish this? I've searched everywhere.
    Thanks!

    Would an easier solution be to provide the school's IT admin with your mac address and have it added? If they can add a block of mac addresses for the usb dongles, they can add more for machines that cannot use the dongle.
    Also: "It's hardly a security issue by being able to change your mac address."
    While it may not be a security issue for your machine, it is a security for the school network who is using mac address filtering as hopefully only one part of their wireless security.
    That being said, have you read this?

    On windows XP or linux have a MAC adress Change function  allow 00 mac adress and another normal mac adress range.On windows 8.1 all Mac changer program dont work.This 2,6,A,E on second adress are not vaild Mac adress. You simply can not use normal MAC
    addresses on windows 8.1.When i connect the usb the Pc windows 8.1 recognizes the adapter but the default  driver and the downloaded ralink driver the same problem.On windows xp the current driver works perfectly have (Local Mac Network Adress) funktion
    and works with the 802.11b hot spot.I got the internet my PC and laptop too public HotSpots and another wifi HotSpots if wont work correctly i can not use neither the windows 7,8,8.1 or 10. Many users have expressed interest in the problem more forums.
    The 3. problem im tested in virtualbox the windows 7 and 8.1 on 8.1 (on the blue wifi platform) not show correctly the signal strengh. On windows 7 show this correctly.The windows 7-8.1 Configure/advanced the advanced options on Ralink 3070 the default (windows

    Today it is very common these wi-fi technology increasingly used (hotels,Public Hots Spots,Internet coffe,) growing free bublic wifi projects. The wifi funktions on windows  need debugging and modernize.The quality of Wi-Fi is now the operating system

    Hi,
    For changing the MAC address for Windows 7 is designed with some limitation, we cannot get over it. Thanks for your understanding.
    Under Windows 7, the possible range of spoofed addresses for wireless adapters that can be set is limited.  To be used by Windows 7, a spoofed MAC address should have 0 as a least significant bit (unicast) and 1 as a second least significant
    bit (locally administered) in the second nibble.  Thus possible values for the second nibble are limited to 2, 6, A and E.
    In other words
    MAC address:  “XY-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX” “X” can be anything hexadecimal.  The hexadecimal “Y”, written in binary format, is  Y:  “kmnp”,  where “p” is the least significant bit;
    p=0 --> unicast;
    p=1 --> multicast;
    n=0 --> globally assigned MAC;
    n=1 --> locally administered;
    So, actually MAC can be changed  to any combination in which p=0 and n=1;
    “Y” can be 2, 6, A or E.
    So the possible MAC addresses in Windows 7 for wireless adapters:
    X2-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX
    X6-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX
    XA-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX
    XE-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX

    I have just changed my ISP and they have informed me that i have to change the IP address on my time capsule. Please can someone tell me how todo this? Thanks

    This should really be unnecessary but anyway..
    If you mean the internal IP of the TC, the it can be changed by changing the dhcp settings.. which is weird.
    It looks a bit different in the v6 utility but is easy to do..
    See the DHCP beginning address is split into sections.. change the front section from 10.0 to 192.168
    Then update the TC.. then you will need to change everything on the network as the IP will need to change.. I recommend you simply turn everything off and then on again in correct order.. modem.. TC.. clients. 2min gap.

  • Changing ethernet Mac address in Leopard 10.5.3

    I am trying to change the Mac address (ethernet) of my MacBook Pro, with Leopard 10.5.3. It used to work with Tiger, with the regular command (in Terminal): sudo ifconfig en0 lladdr 00:00:00:00:00 (where the zeros represent the new Mac address). However, since I've installed 10.5.3, this doesn't work. I'd appreciate any help.
    Thanks!

    Thank you both. I looked at the ChangeMac program, and it looks like it should work. I simply have this problem: I can not use the Internet on my laptop, because in order to use it, I need to change the Mac address first. I am in Eastern Europe for the summer, which is why I have this problem. Do you happen to know a prompt or command I could put it?
    Thanks!

    Use the trackpad to scroll, thats what it was designed for. The scroll bars automatically disappear when not being used and will appear if you scroll up or down using the trackpad.
    This is a user-to-user forum and most people will post on here if they have problems. You very rarely get people posting to say there update went smooth. The fact is the vast majority of Mountain Lion users will not be experiencing any major problems with the OS, or maybe with apps which are not compatible, but thats hardly Apple's fault if developers don't update their apps.

  • Any ways to change the MAC address permanently?

    Are there?:)

    when i was still using netcfg2, i was doing the following to get a randomized, manufacturer-valid mac address every time i connected an access point:
    in each network profile:
    PRE_UP='. $SUBR_DIR/spoof.subr; ifconfig $INTERFACE down; ifconfig $INTERFACE hw ether $(generate_random_mac)'
    the 'ifconfig $INTERFACE down' is necessary for my card, annoying belkin-made rtl8185 pcmcia card.
    /usr/lib/network/spoof.subr:
    #!/bin/bash
    SPOOF_DIR=$SUBR_DIR"spoof/"
    SPOOF_VEND_FILE="stefan-maclist.txt"
    generate_random_mac() {
    echo $(${SPOOF_DIR}/fakeap.pl --vendors ${SPOOF_DIR}${SPOOF_VEND_FILE})
    the following is extracted from Black Alchemy Weapons Lab's fakeap.pl
    /usr/lib/network/spoof.pl
    #!/usr/bin/perl
    use strict;
    use warnings;
    use Getopt::Long;
    use Time::HiRes;
    use vars
    qw( $vendors_opt $wep_opt );
    my @vendors = ( "00:00:0C:", "00:00:CE:", "00:00:EF:" );
    # load_vendors
    # args: none
    # rets: none
    # Loads vendor mac prefix file into @vendors
    sub load_vendors {
    @vendors = ();
    open( my $FH, "<$vendors_opt" ) or die "Could not open $vendors_opt: $!\n";
    while ( my $line = <$FH> ) {
    chomp $line;
    $line =~ /^(\w\w:\w\w:\w\w)/;
    push @vendors, "$1:";
    close $FH;
    return;
    # gen_mac
    # args: none
    # rets: none
    # Returns a random MAC address with first three octets from @vendors
    # last three random.
    sub gen_mac {
    return sprintf(
    "%s%02X:%02X:%02X",
    $vendors[ int( rand $#vendors ) ],
    int( rand 256 ),
    int( rand 256 ),
    int( rand 256 )
    # Main
    GetOptions(
    "vendors=s" => \$vendors_opt
    load_vendors() if $vendors_opt;
    my $mac = gen_mac();
    print( $mac );
    i know of two sources for a list of valid manufacturer mac address triples.  stefan-maclist.txt comes with fakeap.pl.  a much more comprehensive list is the file 'manuf' in the root directory of the wireshark source, but it needs some editing before it will work with the fakeap.pl code snippet.
    one thing this doesn't do is avoid using your actual mac address.

  • How can I change a Mixer filter in real-time? (11.5)

    Hi all,
    I'm currently coding (or trying to code) an interactive soundboard that users can play with in their software. They can turn inputs on and off, increase the volume, change the EQ, etc. The nice is, and I was really pleased to discover this, Director already has a feature called an 'Audio Mixer' that has filters to satisfy all these functionalities! The bad thing, I can't figure out how to change these filters in real time.
    For example, here's the code to MUTE a specific mixer (activated when the user toggles a button):
    member("channelOneMix").mute()
    But how do I tell it go INTO that mixer, find the existing High Pass Filter, and change the value of that High Pass Filter's 'highCutOffFreq' property? It's a classic case of knowing exactly what I need to tell the code to do, but I have no idea of the SYNTAX of actually telling it to do that.
    I hate to be 'that guy', but it is somewhat urgent. This is for a college assignment due Wednesday (yikes!). I didn't quite know what I was getting myself into with this code, but the end is in sight if I can figure out how to write this particular code.
    Many gratuitous thanks in advance for any assistance!
    PS: It won't be enough to simply add a new filter to the list. The user needs to be able to turn a dial up or down to increase or decrease the High Pass Filter, in conjunction with several other dials manipulating other filters. I need to be able to actually change what the filter's value is.

    Thanks for your help!
    The problem is that I think that I changed the "default" name for the state where the photos were taken. I have 50 differents locations, that are all correct, and photo per photo, I can modify the original location, but only at "local" level.
    How can I change the name displayed in State section as "Casa David i Mireia" for "Catalunya" that is the real name for the State where the photos where taken?
    I don't if this post is comprehensive. I'm not sure.
    Thanks for your time!
    Jordi

  • Need to monitor any file change in the system, in real time

    Hi,
    I am running a program that I suspect may be doing changes in the filesystem, but I do not know which ones. I would like to know if there is a daemon/program that could help me monitor those changes. I tried AIDE, however, it works by creating a database of checksums for each file and does not report in real time potential changes. I would rather use a program that logs changes and timestamp them. Furthermore, AIDE is not useable with /var files, since there are many of them and they change so often. Is there another good solution?
    Alternatively I would like to run the program with monitoring. For instance, run the process as:
    monitor_program my_program_to_monitor logfile
    This would dump in logfile what my_program_to_monitor does to the filesystem.
    Thanks in advance.

    no, at least with inotifywait, it is not possible. once you know what file is being changed you can use "lsof" to see what process have opened that file.
    i tried the following to search lsof output first thing when inotifywait finds a file change.
    file=$(inotifywait -r /home/mang/watch --format %w | sed 's/.$//'); lsof | grep $file
    while in another terminal running "vi /home/mang/watch/test"
    the output is:
    zsh 12574 mang cwd DIR 254,11 4096 4723089 /home/mang/watch
    vi 16790 mang cwd DIR 254,11 4096 4723089 /home/mang/watch
    try it!

  • Someone has changed my mac address

    Hi everyone,
      Having problems with my connection and my emails getting"lost" , not received either by me or my contacts, I want to undertsand what is going on, I suspect someone is spying , somewhere.
      I checked , through my router interface all the mac adresses and did not find my imac.
      I then went to check in my network preferences and saw that someone had changed my mac adress?? how come?
    I want to know what was this mac adress to whom it belongs, please help??
      Thanks a lot,

    No. The person who has said they have evidence that my and other account have same mac and ip addresses has not shown me what they have or said how they got it.
    They told me that myself and other user had same mac and ip addresses and that it was an iPhone that was used to send the messages over the site.
    To them the evidence they have shows it's me using my phone to use 2 accounts.
    However. I've only used this phone for the one account.
    So if no 2 iPhones can show the same MAC address if through the same wifi router this could be what's happened?
    If no 2 iPhones would show the same MAC address then what on earth has happened for her to see this?
    Also - how would she of got this info and is it illegal or dangerous that she now has my mac and IP address?????
    I'm sorry to ask so many questions but I really need to sort this and you are really helping. I appreciate all this help.

  • Block internet access by MAC address all the time

    I want to be able to block MAC addresses from accessing the internet but allow them to use the network.
    I can do this in other router interfaces but the BT Home Hub 2.0 has a VERY un user friendly interface and will not allow advanced internet access or other settings to be modifyed to suit my needs.
    I am at an intermediate level at understanding network equipment and an expert at residential networking.

    Not sure about the home hub 2, but on the home hub 1 you can use a "user defined" firewall setting to block access to a computer by specifying its IP address.
    Source LAN
    Interface 192.168.1.xxx  (address you wish to block)
    Destination WAN
    Service ANY
    Action Deny
    You can tell the home hub to always use this IP address for the device you are trying to block.
    There is probably a similar setting on the home hub 2.
    By default I block all Internet access for devices, then I have rules to allow HTTP, HTTPS, POP3 and a couple of others.
    I also have UpnP disabled.
    This prevents any computer on the network accessing any non-standard ports.

  • Changing ethernet MAC address

    I would like to change my macbook pro Core2Duo's ethernet MAC address. Has anyone succeded in doing that? how is it done?

    Not sure why you would need to, but here yah go:
    For anyone who has not noticed it ... you are now able to change the system's Ethernet card MAC adress without any third party software. Just do a:
    % sudo ifconfig en0 ether aa:bb:cc:dd:ee:ff
    where en0 is the network interface (numbered from en0, en1, en2 ...) and aa:bb:cc:dd:ee:ff is the desired MAC address in hex notation.
    Be careful...
