Change standalone instance server name in EM Console.

I am looking for a way to change the standalone instance name in OEM. The standalone instances are found under the farm. I need to change the servername to servername.domainname. I looked at the targets.xml file, it is for changing opmn components not the servernames as they display in the farm. I am using EM 10.1.2 on Windows 2003. I did change the hosts file but how does EM pick up the changes? Any ideas? Thanks.

Make sure the new DNS URL is in the Default Zone for AAMs. Also make sure none of your content is using hard-coded paths, instead using relative paths.

Change the Exchange server name in outlook

Hello All,
Configured two Exchange server 2010. Both server have Mailbox, CAS and HUB installed. All the user use outlook (Exchange Client). All outlook configured with exchange server host name not mapi name. Now i need to change the exchange server name in outlook.
Is there any procedure to change the Exchange server name for outlook automatically. Please suggest.

In this case, except with recreating a profile, we can move mailboxes to force the Outlook client to do a profile discovery and update the profile based on new information.

I have copied a number of SSID packages from a live server to my test server and am trying to get them up and running but I have a problem with the connection. The only thing that is different is the server name. I decided to keep the same connection in the connection manager as it is referenced in a dtsConfig file. I changed the dtsConfig file to reference the new servername [Data Source= new test server name]. I also check my paths and they are pointing to the correct config locations etc.
I found this post which was similar to my problem but I still get problems with the connection

I updated the connection by changing the server name in the actual connection. I did this from the data flow tab in the Connection Managers sections (MS Visual Studio). Right clicked - Edit - changed the name of the server name to my test server and selected the database. Test connection was fine, and saved this.
Once I saved this, the connection string changed to my current test server in the properties of the connection. However when I run the package I get the following error:
Error: 0xC0202009 at ReportsImport, Connection manager "myconnectionstring": SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR.  An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80004005.
An OLE DB record is available.  Source: "Microsoft SQL Native Client"  Hresult: 0x80004005  Description: "Login timeout expired".

So even if I change the existing connection properties and save and Build my package again, my connection properties (connectionstring, servername etc) all revert back to its original data source when I re-open the package. Simply it does not seem to be saving the connection properties i put in.
What am I doing wrong or how can I change the existing connection manager to look at the new server. The database is the same and I have full admin privilege on the server.
I don't want to recreate my packages as there are alot and they are not simple.
After changing the connection properties, saving and reloading I get a connection error. But this is because it is not retaining the new connection manger setting i entered.
Incidentally - I created a new SSID to perform a simple connection and write to the the server and it was OK so there is no problem with actually seeing the my test server.

Yes, the package is in visual studio and I have executed it. There are no errors but in the output i have the error message about my connection. My dtsConfig file is added to the project in the 'Package Configuration Organizer' and path and files are correct. This is the output error:

I will try and run it using dtexec.exe. if I have two config files do i use

How to get orchestration instance server name

I have two server where orchestration can run...I need to know the server name where my orchestration instance has run.
How to get this information...

When you have more than one BizTalk-processing server and if your orchestration is bound to host instance which exist in more than one server (generally for better resilience, the best practice
is to have multiple instances of host in different servers), the idea of get the server name where Orchestration instance has run is INVALID.
With the BizTalk features like scalability, resilience and persistence points an Orchestration instance could run in more than one server.
For example due to persistence points, if that BizTalk server were to suffer a power outage, another BizTalk server could continue the orchestration from the checkpoint rather than having
to start the orchestration from the beginning. Or during or during long-running process while waiting for a response, then message being consumed by an orchestration instance would be persisting the in-memory representation of an orchestration (to its last
good state) and any associated messages in BizTalk MessageBox. So when the response comes back the rest of the part of orchestration could execute from other server instance. So an orchestration would not always run from one server.
But if you have specific “Expression shape” which you may have been using for logging/tracing then you can get the server name which executed that particular “Expression shape” from an Orchestration
instance (not the whole Orchestration instance). This is done using the standard .NET code to get the server name -
System.Environment.MachineName

Server name changed but old server name reflecting

Hi Experts,
Issue is In the SQL server name is changed.
When the user is logging on SAP old server name is appearing and in SAP 8.8 there is no option of change like in SAP 2005B and 2007B so no database is appearing on screen.
What should be done in such condition.

In 8.8 you need to add and maintain servers through the license manager of the server tools. Open license manager settings and click the button on the bottom left (Configure Security). Enter your B1 site users details and then in the next screen you can define an additional server as well as remove the old one; I had the exact same issue a few days ago!

On versions Oracle 8.0.4 and 8.0.5 you need to change the server name in the listener.ora file.

Application name is not really a problem, changing the server name is not the nicest depending on how the products have been registered, you would have to take a look at the shared services registry report.

Server name SSL does not match subject of certificate Server-Cert

We see the following warning in the startup log everytime. We have been ignoring this for awhile now since SSL is working fine and browsers don't complain. But recently we found some mobile browsers are not happy with our SSL pages. So we are thinking this may be the casue.
warning ( 3256): CORE1251: On HTTP listener http-listener-2, server name SSL does not match subject "www.ourdomain.com" of certificate Server-Cert.
What does this warning really mean? Do we need to rename the server name "SSL" to match the domain name?

AFAIK That warning is a result of the fact that the hostname doesn't match the certificate.
The cert has a Common Name (CN) attribute of the certificate's Subject Name or Subject Alternative Name (SAN) of type DNS name
should match with the server's DNS name.
hostname == machines name
I don't know if we need to change the instances server name as well.
I will try on my machine and and will let you know.
Are you sure this warning is the source of your problem? Look at what Joe has written :
"If most of your users are not getting browsers complaining of a mis-match then this is likely not the source of your mobile device problem."
Which mobile model and browsers are you getting complains from? We can try testing it here.

Change server name in SM51

hi guys,
we have two instance central and dialog running on different server cofigured by clustering . whernever sap failure or any other reason when we stop and start cluster we got change in sm51 status. the server name of dialog remain same but central instance server name changed by cluster package name. and it will correct by restart sap application. can anyone tell me what the issue and how we solve it.

I guess you might need to get cluster log, system log, audit log to capture the changes. So that you know which function is involved in triggering the changes.

Changing server name

I have created a proxy for accessing a web service on a remote server. It works fine
Now I wish to move to the productive remote server (which has an other name and IP but has the same WSDL)
Of course I can generate again the proxy but I find this solution not so nice, as we have to generate all the java code just because a change in the server name
I have looked in the code and found that the server name is hard coded in the java file xxxBindingStub.java

The server name is also referenced in lports_1.xml

I do agree this is hassel as of now if you are working in Java environment, but there is no shortcut to this and it is very complicated as well.
My suggestion is to create another proxy.
Other possible way is to use "Service Registry" for this (not tested). Use service registry to refer your "remote service" and use service registry wsdl for coding.
Whenever url is changed, chage it in service registry and your client application should work.

Max Length of Essbase Server Name?

Hi - we're installing 9.3.1 and are coming across a problem related to replicated partitions that I'm hoping someone else has also encountered and resolved.
Since partitions aren't covered by the Migration Wizard, they were migrated from our 7X environment by exporting them from 7X as xml files, doing a "find/replace" within them to change the old server name to the new server name, and then reimporting them in the System 9 environment. Short names were used for this. This was done for them all (we have one or two dozen), and everything worked well. We kicked off a few and all was good.
Then we went back a few days later and all of the partitions had gone to Orphan status. Looking at them just in the tree view in EAS, they were all saying that they were using the fully-qualified server name (which, in our environment, is 31 characters) instead of what we had originally created them under, which was much shorter: xxx-xxxx-xx = 11 characters. When you open one, it even still references the shorter names in the connection tab. However, whenever you execute one, it goes against the fully qualified name, which appears to be just 1 character too many, because every kickoff of replication fails saying that its an invalid server name, giving the full name ending with ".co" instead of ".com". We had a problem like this in 7X, but we could always get around it because the process would work if we just created and executed using the shorter name (also, we could use App Manager to kick them off, which I'm reluctant to do against System 9). Thus far, we've had no such luck in 9.3.1 - even new partitions created under the shorter name automatically orphan and use the longer name.
While changing the server name is an option, I'm hoping someone knows of some way to get Essbase to read a server name longer than 30 chars, or to force Essbase to stop using the fully qualified name and just use the shorter one.

One way around this would be to use the IP address instead of the server name. I ran into a similar problem and that was the answer I was given by Oracle. (see my blog http://glennschwartzbergs-essbase-blog.blogspot.com/2008/08/partitions.html)

Report server name (unix)

i've forms and reports running on iAS under win2000.
now i'd like to transfer them to tru64 unix.
normal forms (without reports calls) work fine. but the reportsserver on unix has a different name than the one on windows.
- can i change the reports server name on unix?
- or what else do i have to do with the forms to find the reports server?

Hi,
If it is Reports Server 6i then you can define a tnsnames alias that is the same as the name used on Windows.
Reports Server 9i and above need unique names in the whole network, which means that you can't have the same name twice.
As a best practice I recommend passing teh Reports Server name as a Forms user parameter when starting the application instead of hard coding the name.
parameter in Forms : reports_server
entry in formsweb.cfg: otherparams=reports_server=repsrv
usage in Forms: set_report_object_property(handle_id,REPORT_SERVER,:parameter.reports_server
