Change start timecode in sequence

Just upgraded to Premiere Pro CC 2014.1 8.1.0 build.
Where is the option for changing the start timecode for your sequence.  It used to be in a contextual menu on the timeline, now it is not.  Where has it gone?

The drop down menu next to the Sequence Name in the Timeline:

  • Change starting timecode

    Hi,
I don't understand why and when I need to change the starting timecode? what is the reason for this?
    can someone explain to me?
    thx

    A couple of possible scenarios...
Lets say you have a preview version of a clip from CGI (3D animation or something) that needs client approval. It does not have embedded TC, but it does have burn in (TC visible on screen). You can change the auxillary TC in Final Cut Pro to match the burn in. When you get the final full res copy of the CGI with TC, you know where to set in and out points so that you can replace the preview version.
Broadcasters have strict specifications for the copies you send them. As an example, most in Europe will require that program start on a master or station copy should be at 10:00:00:00. The ability to change the sequence TC means you can playout to tape at exactly the right point. It will also give you the numbers to correctly fill out the mandatory recording report.

  • FCP Adding two frames to Starting Timecode change in Sequence Settings

Hi I am trying to change my starting timecode in my sequence to 09:58:00;00 but FCP keeps adding an extra two frames to make it start at 09:58:00;02 - my sequence is in DF. I am changing this by going into Sequence Settings > Timline Options > Starting Timecode. Anyone else have this problem? It's awfully frustrating - perhaps a glitch?

IF you ripped to DV NTSC, it should have come in as DF.
What are the specs of the Digibeta material?
Are you delivering on Digibeta or as a QT file?
Is your client asking for a master beginning with 09:58:00:00 DF starting timecode? You could set the starting timecode for 09:57:29:00, then add an additional second of black at the head of the timeline. The client is most likely needing DF timecode for 'show timing' purposes...is this to go to broadcast?

  • How do I change media start timecode?

I'm working on a project that was handed to me after a significant amount of capturing had already been done. Much of the footage (I'm praying that not all of it is like this) was captured using Capture Now, so there is no room left for pre-roll on any of the clips I am now trying to recapture (literally like 2 frames). I searched the forum and the web for a solution, but came up with some solutions that didn't work in my particular case. I have made the clips offline which for other users seems to have solved the problems of not being able to edit the Media Start/Media End timecode, but I still cannot get it to work.
Could it be that since I've used the clip in a sequence, it will not let me edit the timecode? Assuming there is some solution, and I am able to change the timecode, will any clips in sequences be trimmed to match the changes (for example, if I used the beginning of a clip in a sequence, and have now changed that clips beginning timecode, will it automatically trim the clip in the sequence or will it not reconnect at all?)
    I'm working in FCP 4.5.
    Thanks a bunch

    Hey Jack
]Thanks for your continued posts Peter.
Always happy to help out, but thankyou for the acknowledgment! Often busy stressed people on this board forget that essential ingredient of good manners! So thank you!
]Does that really solve it? I'm not sure that it does
Absolutely! I had exactly your situation a couple of years ago, when I took over a job from someone who hadn't left any room on clips. I gave adding extended handles a shot, and it worked.
Once again I am just sorry I did not remember this workaround sooner.
As always, I would do a little test run first. I have mentioned this previously on the board, but I will again because I find it an invaluable tip:
]<small>A good little technique I have gotten into over the years is learning any new functionality in FCP with what I call my “dummy” project, dummy.fcp.
]This is just a normal FCP file with a couple of dozen clips, a few sequences and so on. Nothing too fancy, but designed to tap into most of the essential features, and broadly represent a typical type of job I do.
]Every time I want to try something new, and am worried I might damage existing work, I close the project I am working on, make a duplicate of dummy.fcp, and experiment on that. And I do it a couple of times, just to make sure for myself that the new functionality is well understood and predictable. I even try and do it wrong a couple of times, just to see what the results of mistakes would be like... Better learning through mistakes on your dummy ...
]If things go crazy, I have lost nothing, my current real-life project file is safe, and one of thee following is true:
]• I am doing something wrong -- so I log on here
    ]• I don’t understand the functionality - so I log on here
]• FCP might have a bug -- so I log on here
]• All of the above -- so I log on here</small>
I recommend that you -- and everyone else! -- make one of these dummy projects for yourself, and try this solution out. And keep a copy for later, when you come across that next possible workflow enhancement / project destruction tool.
    Regards
    Peter

  • How to set Start-Timecode in a sequence?

I cannot find the "Start-Timcode" option in the new timeline panel.
    Where has it gone?
    Premiere Pro CC 2014.1
    Thanks for any help.

The help is your friend. Searching for "start time" took me directly to this page: Adobe Premiere Pro Help | Adding clips to sequences
The last section on that page:
    Set sequence start time
By default, each sequence’s time ruler starts at zero and measures time according to the timecode format you specified in the Display Format field of the New Sequence dialog box General tab. However, you can change the starting time of the sequence’s time ruler. For example, you may want to set the start time to match a master tape, which typically begins at 00;58;00;00, to accommodate a two-minute leader before the standard program start time of 01;00;00;00.
In a Timeline panel menu, choose Start Time, and enter a starting timecode, and click OK. (The starting time must be a positive number.)

  • Change the starting timecode

    Hi,
I don't understand why and when I need to change the starting timecode? what is the reason for this?
    can someone explain to me?
    thx

Because some broadcasters may require additional information before program start such as color bars, a slate, a countdown or a certain amount of black. You'd set the timecode start earlier to account for these elements. That's why program start is 01:00:00;00 instead of 00:00:00;00. Broadcasters often have specifications dictating exactly what should be shown at certain timecodes before the program starts.
Also, in Europe program start is often 10:00:00:00 so it allows you to change it to meet European broadcast specs.

  • Problem with starting Timecode in the Timecode effect

    hi everyone,
I have a problem with the timecode effect in my sequence. The strating time of the sequence ist 09:59:50:00, I copy/pasted it into "Starting Timecode" in the Timecode effect controls panel and chose "Generate" from the Timecode Source options, but the numbers shown on the display were different as the starting timecode I set. So I had to change the starting timecode in the effect controls panel to 09:59:14:01 and now it shows the right timecode on the display. how is it possible? any ideas where this difference could come from? the frame rate is set correctly. is this a bug in the PPro CC 7.1? I had to downgrade from 7.2.1, because of many problems it was causing.
    cheers,
    Michal

We had a SCEP ADR applying definition updates to All Systems, we applied the ADR to a different collection, removed all the SCEP updates to All Systems and successfully re-imaged the workstation. Following article was of great help in identifying the problem

  • Failed to run task sequence. Error occurred while starting the task sequence (0x8007000E)

    Hi there
Patch Tuesday yesterday (10th June2014). As always we deploy new patches first to a test collection where Windows 7 updates automatically apply.
Upon trying to rebuild any of the machines in this test collection, we were presented with the following error message:
Failed to run task sequence.  Error occurred while starting the task sequence (0x8007000E)
After searching about this, I found this page from Niall Brady, which explained the problem:
    http://www.niallbrady.com/2013/05/17/after-selecting-a-task-sequence-in-configuration-manager-2012-sp1-you-receive-threadtoresolveandexecutetasksequence-failed-code0x8007000e-in-smsts-log/
So I removed some of the machines from the test Windows update collection, and as per the advice in the above link, the error was gone and those machines could be built successfully.
So the problem is there were too many many policies downloaded (apps, packages and most of all updates) for the task sequence ram to store, hence the error.
    Now...
    ...I have a question.
The next logical step to my mind is to patch our OS image with all missing patches, so these do not have to be downloaded at build time. Niall mentions this as one of the resolutions to this issue.
However there seems to be some confusion over whether this would actually make a difference.
    I read through this link:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/7e597b44-2586-4063-b6d0-cec48a7c11c7/sccm-2012-task-sequence-failure-0x8007000e?forum=configmanagerosd
There's seems to be no consensus on this.
Is SCCM 2012 clever enough to - when the task sequence is first started - to download ONLY the updates (policies) it detects as NOT present in the OS image...
    or
Will it simply try to download policies for ALL items deployed to it, whether the updates are present in the OS image or not?
I will be disappointed if SCCM 2012 SP1 CU2 isn't clever enough to only download policies at build time for the apps, packages and updates it detects as needed.
I'd be grateful for some clarity on this.
    Regards,
    John, Glasgow.

    Hi Jason
Thank you for replying, I appreciate it.
    1) We currently have 15 or 16 software update groups for Office updates, dating back a month or two. The latest software update group contains all the patches in the previous software update groups plus the patches released on 10th June. Do you recommend
deleting all but the latest software update group?
    2) I'm almost reluctant to ask this, but based on what you have advised, is it the case that when the task sequence executes, it will download policies for each update in each software update group regardless of whether it has already downloaded a policy
for an update in a previous software update group? So in effect it's downloading policies (for updates) it has already downloaded?
    3) I'm not clear on why there would be no policy for an image; in Niall Brady's informative page on the 8007000E error, he writes the following:
"The reason it has run of space could be due to four possibilites: too many applications, too many Windows updates, too many Task Sequence steps, too many referenced packages'.
Can you shed some light on why there isn't a policy for an image?
    Thanks again for replying,
    John.

  • Change start of cycle date in maintenance plan

    Dear Experts,
We would like to change start of cycle date in maintenance plan. Iwe have rescheduled the plan but the start of cycle date remains the same.
could you please confirm, whether it can be changed. The requirement is because of some Mt plan created with future start date in production (Year-2020) and we want to correct the same.
    Thanks

    Don,
To determine the next maintenance call date you need to tell the system when the last maintenance call occured
    Example:
You want the next call date on the 1 June based on a six month cycle. Therefore the last maintenance date would have been 1 January (assuming key date scheduling).
In your case you need to RESTART your single-cycle plan on the 1 January and the system then calculates the next maintenance calls.

  • How to dynamically  change start time in calendar

    Hi !
Is it possible dynamically change start time attribute in calendar. Let's say I'd like to have start time = sysdate through 24 for display

    Hello Johann,
If you created the calendar region using the wizard, it should have created a page item 'P#_CALENDAR_DATE' (# being your page number). Look at the Default setting for that item and it will likely be:
return to_char(localtimestamp,'YYYYMMDD');This is the default date for the calendar (current date), in 'YYYYMMDD' format. Any code that sets this item to a date in 'YYYYMMDD' format should tell the calendar to display the calendar for that date. For example, I just changed it to this:
return '20080101';And it displayed the calendar for that January, 2008. To test further I created a submit button and a branch, and in that branch I specified to set my P1_CALENDAR_DATE item to 20080601 and when I clicked the button it redisplayed the calendar for June, 2008.
    Hope this helps,
    John
