Change system admin with forgotten password

I Book

Hi, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
Are you sure you have an iBook? (No iBook can run Mac OS X 10.6, as is listed in your system specifications.)
But even if it isn't an iBook, or it is, but is running another version of Mac OS X, Carolyn's link should take care of it for you. This post is merely to clear up what seems to be a bit of confusion on your part.

Hi Haldane, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Changing the name can be dangerous, use ChangeShortName 10.4 only...

Chances are you mis-typed a character in the Wifi password and the devices saved that information.  Now whenever you try to connect the device refers to the wrong password and the Jetpack does not accept your connection.  Tell your devices to forget the wireless connection and start over.
Once you enter the proper WiFi credentials the Jetpack will allow you to connect.

  • New imac mini cannot start as pick  up profile of my old  macpro notebook with forgotten  password

just puchased a  imac mini  and  started at home  where I have  a wireless environment  with time  capsule  and  a macbook  pro notebook. At the  start the minimac  recognised the time  machine and  asked it  if  wanted to take  the same profile of  the  notebook. I said yes and  before  launching the  operating  system  asked  the  administartor  password of the notebook. Despite  the  hint  used  I  realised  cannot remember  the password.  I  reset  the  password  in my  laptop using the operating  disk of  my  laptop (which  worked  fine). However  the mac mini  still  is  askig  for  the  old  password.  is  there  a  way to go around  this as  i  am  running   out  of  options.
can i  restart the  miniac using  a  different  profile  altogher?

You are describing features of Muti-User simultaneous login. The cube spins (away from the currently logged-in User) to give you a fresh login screen. The old User is suspended, and you can log in.

  • Change system text with visual studio

    Hello
I'm new to Sharepoint however I learn quickly. I administer multi-lingual website and I'm asked to make some text corrections in system messages that are displayed to users. I was told this can be done by editing .resx file using visual studio?
Can someone explain how to do it? I don't want to change anything manually.
    Thanks!

Changing the SharePoint resource files (.resx) is not supported. After a SharePoint update, your modifications can be undone.
There are several other options to change system text:
    1) Develop a custom control and load it in the AdditionalPageHead. In the OnPreRender event, locate the other controls you want to change and modify the text
    2) Develop a jQuery script that will search the page for the controls and modify the text.

  • Changing an Admin's account password via ARD

    Greetings!
I came across this posting on changing a user accounts password via ARD:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=2130579&#2130579
I tried Vespazzo Unix command in this thread:
    passwd (name of user)
    (new password)
    (new password)
as root, but in the "Send Unix Command" history window that pops up, next to each computer name under the "Status" column, all I see is a green check symbol with the words, "Changing Password for (account name)", and that's it. It won't go any further then that. Almost like it's hung on something. And I'm not seeing any progress bar indicating something is happening or is about to happen?!?
    Am I missing something?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Not sure what's going on with this, but I let ARD sit for about an hour or so, until I finally decided that this wasn't doing anything. I restarted my Mac and logged back in. Opened ARD and controlled into one of our design workstations as the admin, the password we usually use, didn't work! The new one did! I tried a couple of others and those worked too with the new password! So who knows what the problem with ARD was.
As long as the command worked, it's fine by me!
    Thanks anyway...

  • Need help resetting or changing my admin username and password without the installation disc

I accidentally clicked on the check box that is located in system preferences in accounts that says "Allow user to administer this computer" and unchecked it. So the account that I set up the user name and password to is not the administer anymore and I don't know what account is. So now every time I want to make changes to anything and click on the lock button it will not accept my username and password. So how do I reset my username and password for the administer without the installation disc and without losing any files or folders????

Those changes require an installation DVD. However, see:

  • How can I change the admin username and password

how can I change the default admin adminadmin username and password for the server

What version of Creator are you use?
In Creator 2 Update 1, using Application Server version 8.2, you can do the following..
    1) Log into the Admin Console using the default UID/PWD
    2) Expand the tree view by following this path:
    Application Server > Configuration > Security > Realms > admin-realm
    3) Click on "Manage Users"
    4) Click on the UserID "admin"
    5) enter the new password that you would like
    6) Click on the "Save" button on the upper right side of the page.
That should do it for you.
    Good luck

  • BPC System Admin ID

    Hi,
We are trying to install SAP BPC but we won't make it further than the Service Account page.
When trying to fill in the System Admin ID (and the other two IDs), the following message is given: "Invalid System Admin ID or Password".
The following is written in the SAP documentation:
    ===============
System Admin ID ‒ This ID is read-only and is the same as the installation user ID. This ID allows
access to code that provides system administrator-level functionality. For example, this ID can
write to the Windows registry, has full access to the FileShare server, and can create, remove,
backup, and restore OLAP and SQL databases. The system administrator should be a member of
the domain users group, local administrators group, and SQL administrators group.
    ===============
So how can verify that the System Admin ID 1) is member of the domain users group, 2) local administrators group and 3) SQL administrators group?
    Thanks

    Sam,
    Here are some answers:
    1) I*f you can log onto the server using the domain name, then you are a domain user. Also you can ask the company's IT department.
    2) Right-click My Computer, select Manage. Expand Local Users & Groups, click the Groups folder, then double-click the Administrators group on the right. If you get any error message along the way, you are not a local administrator. If you can see the members of the administrators group, check to be sure that your sys admin id is part of the group. Do this on each server if multi-server.
    3) The Sys admin need to be a SQL SA user. You can check this in SQL management studio under logins. If you are using SQL 2005 and the sys admin user is in the local administrators group, then there is a good chance you are a sys admin already because SQL 2005 automatically allows all users that are in the local administrators group to be SQL SA (however, IT personnel can always change this). SQL 2008 restricts SA users by default, so your ID would have to be added as an SA in that case.

  • HT204053 Although I have iCloud, my system preferences still show Mobile.me.  I have to sign in with my mobile.me ID which is not the same as my Apple ID. I want to change my iCloud ID and password.  How do I do it?

Although I can access iCloud, my system preferences on my iMac still show Mobile.me.  I have to sign in with my mobile.me ID which is not the same as my Apple ID. I want to change my iCloud ID and password to be consistent with my Apple ID and password.  How do I do it?

you need to be running OSX 10.7 or 10.8 to use iCloud i believe. It shows you are using 10.6.8 which doesn't support iCloud.

  • The password for the account "account name" was not changed. Your system administrator may not allow you to change your password or there was some other problem with your password. Contact your system administrator for help.

I have a user who's Active Directory password is going to expire. I had her reset her password by going to apple > system prefs > user > and clicking change password. She received the error "The password for the account "account name" was not changed. Your system administrator may not allow you to change your password or there was some other problem with your password. Contact your system administrator for help."
I had her change her password via the kpasswd command in terminal and that changed her password on the server sucessfully however the laptop has FileVault on it. Filevault is not recognizing the new password just the old password.
I have deleted the keychain which didn't resolve and now I am going to decrypt and reencrypt the drive. I'm hoping this is an isolated issue I have over 25 laptops configured like this.

I "think" the trick was unbinding and rebinding the computer account.
After unencrypting and trying to reencrypt Filevault would still not take the new password.
Rebooted the prompt to update the keychain appeared. Updated the keychain. Filevault would still not take the new password.
Unbinded and rebinded the computer account. It worked and let me add the user to filevault.

Contact the Windows NT system administrator.>. Any help is appreciated.

I want to change the default admin password to a different one,
I thought I could change it via HSS but when I open the properties menu, there is no option to change password,
Does anyone know a different way?
    Thanks,
    Yuval

You can also change the Password from Your relational db
    For Example
Go to db and Type in query
    Select * from css_users;
    Result

native://DN=cn=911,ou=People,dc=css,dc=hyperion,dc=com?USER admin {SSH2}L+o8ap4rF392KtWf6/druBlx96bqIOcvRh+fbSdeeXNyjdMLdSTEpmB0nJBqaJoF Administrator Shared Services Administrator 1 Shared Services System Shared Services System
    Edit the Password column line
    "{SSH2}L+o8ap4rF392KtWf6/druBlx96bqIOcvRh+fbSdeeXNyjdMLdSTEpmB0nJBqaJoF"
    and replace with Password123
and save the query .You need to restart the hyperion server and login into the shared services with lastest password
