It is not that sort of system, You can not just click and change a template. You either need to build out the site or change it yourself or start a new one and if you want to choose one of those default templates you can do so.

Using a Muse template in Business Catalyst

How can I use a template I created in Muse for my blog that is hosted on Adobe Business Catalyst? Creating web content in Muse is a lot easier and faster. I'm pretty familiar with Muse and BC, but I can't figure out how to do.
Currently I created a simple header and footer in BC and inserted {tag_pagecontent}. However, I'm much better at manuevering in Muse. I would also be able to be more creative in Muse.

I tried creating a page and inserting the {tag_pagecontent} in the Object>Insert HTML section. However, when that tag was on the page, the server kept throwing an error; it couldn't find the page. When I took the {tag_pagecontent} off of the page, it found the page.

Muse templates for Business Catalyst

Before the recent update for mobile devices I was able to atuomatically upload templates for webapps in Business Catalyst. Now it removed all my templates and does not to upload. Does anyone have this problem?

Can you help send your Muse file to muse-support at adobe dot com with a link to this thread, and also some information on what page is set as a template, etc.? Thanks.

Problem with merging changes made in Business Catalyst

I put some text frames in my Muse project and now my client try to make some changes in text using Business Catalyst but we have big problem because it is impossible to merge changes back to the Muse project. The site is in Polish language but I also tried to do it with English. The result is different but also wrong.
As you can see bellow (screen1)I tried to change words "Adobe Muse" to "adobe muse" and "apps" to "application". Look at Preview on Page result. The newe phrase "adobe muse" is inside the word "videos" instead of following it. So we have: " ....and videoadobe museuse is....". But fortunatelly after clicking "Merge into Muse" everything is OK (screen2).
But when I use Polish language both results are wrong: Preview on Page and the result after merging (see screen 3 and 4)
So I can't work together with my client and it's a big problem because I choose Muse and Business Catalyst for this project just to have this possibility.
Some ides about reasons? I hope these problems are easily solvable.

The issue you're running into is similar to http://forums.adobe.com/message/6012076#6012076.
There isn't a fix yet. What we know is that HTML character entities (like ® or –) can somehow appear in content edited using In-Browser Editing. The Muse sync process doesn't expect/handle them correctly. What we don't know is what causes these entities to be inserted. To help us figure that out, could you find out:
- Which OS and browser (including versions) were used by the client?
- Did the client copy/paste content from external sources?

Muse will not download changes for Adobe Business Catalyst?

Saya it all. Make a change in Catalist try to sync with Catalist and it say... Text frame on page 'HOME' was modified on this web page, but the change could not be merged into Muse.

Hi,
This error happens in the case where the act of merging a text change from Business Catalyst could end up deleting a hyperlink in your text frame. In such cases, Muse leaves the text frame unchanged but warns you so you may merge the change manually.
The warning message identifies the text frame content, the containing page title, and a link to the web-page on Business Catalyst; that should help with the manual merge.

Editing template content of 'standard' templates in Business Catalyst

I used the Uniquate template example as the basis of the development of a new site. While I can update content I cannot find a way of editing the text within the standard template framework. For example I cannot edit 'Uniquate' to my required title. Have searched through the help pages. Surely there should be an easy way to overtype / edit the backbone structure or is it better to start from scratch? Can anyone advise the best approach. Thanks Stewart

I dont use templates in BC but content can be found in the system layouts, module layouts, templates, pages and things like content holders. What is the context of where that is. Knowing that will help lead you to the layout or content holder or template etc...

Switching to Business Catalyst from Shopify

Hi, I currently have a shopify site here. But, after seeing Business Catalyst through a friend of mine who uses it I want to change over. However, I really don't want to change the look and feel to much. Would it be possible somehow in keeping the look and feel if I make a change over to Business Catalyst?
Any help would be appreciated.

Someone who's familiar with HTML/CSS and Business Catalyst would have to convert it. You can retain a lot of the same styles as you had before but you'd have to update new BC layouts and templates to replicate the markup on your site so the content is styled appropriately.
It looks like you are using Paypal and your categories and products aren't too complicated so it would probably fit like a glove. It's very easy to add/update a BC site once it's been designed by a web designer but to port your site over will require someone who's very familiar with web authoring. Look to your BC partner for help here if you have one.

Business catalyst as fluid grid?

hey just started playing with dreamweaver cs6 and the 2 mains reasons were that fluid grid is included and 2nd business catalyst.
But the templates for business catalyst are not responsive pages.
Is there a template already set up as fluid or
Is it posible to add the modules into the fluid grid set up without any heart ache

Hi Dave, Not sure if anyone is making templates that are what I think your looking for is "Responsive".
Quite a few mis-use of terms going around Adobe bit to blame but they get it right in lots of places too.
- Fluid design is basically using floats, Been around for ages.
- Adapative design - you use css, certain cases you do things that adapt based on some situations, even IE conditional stylesheets fall under this.
- Responsive design - fluid design which is not just fluid but things adapt and change to suit not just the width of the window but the device it is aimed towards.
All are basically evolutions off the same thing.
Anyway, I think there are people like Simpleflame on their TribeVita site doing them? But Adobe BC is a tool, its more then a CMS but it is a tool for you to do what you like. I built my own framework to use and can be responsive and has fluid layouts.
If you want it you can find any HTML5 responsive pure html templates and use those to insert BC modules, layouts and modify to put into BC.

Business Catalyst Site Manager Only Showing Web Forms

I am having a horrible time trying to just apply and setup a template in business catalyst. I have gotten to the point where you add the HTML {tag_pagecontent} into a page in muse. Now I went to my admin panel and went to the site manager drop down. All it shows is web forms and system emails! Isn't there supposed to be buttons for templates etc?! I hope someone has the answers, btw I am using a trial site currently but that shouldn't make a difference right? Thanks in advance.

I figured it out, I had to click on my name in the right corner within the BC admin. Then click on my details and scroll down and check box the "enable web editing" and save. That made all site manager options available.

Why I don't see eCommerce, CRM in Business Catalyst?

Hi I purchased Adobe Creative Cloud yearly membership full for $49.99/month but I don’t see ecommerce, CRM, templates in Business Catalyst. I was wondering if I need to purchase BC membership separately?

when is adobe muse going to be able to use the ecommerce features in business catalyst? I need to figure this out asap. my client is using one of your templates in business catalyst but we are designing the new site in muse. How do I transfer over there current ecommerce products over to my muse design?

why is there a full version of Photoshop available on NON mac products now if that is the case?
That would be because ADOBE wrote and released a version of it for those devices.
Complain to Adobe and tell them you want iOS versions of the apps. Apple has nothing to do with it.

Dreamweaver error when using Business Catalyst module tags in template

Hi all,
this is a recent and very distruptive error I have come accross in Dreamweaver CC.
When editing a document attached to a Business Catalyst template in Dreamweaver,
I was getting an error message (attached) saying:
"You have made changes to the code that is not marked as editable. If you retain those changes, they will be lost the next time you apply a template update to this file. Do you want to retain the changes until then?"
This happened every time I added a new html tag to the page, p div etc... which made DW unusable for editing files.
Having not got any useful help from BC support, they told me to contact Dreamweaver support!
In the end, I found through troubleshooting that it was the content holder module tags from Business Catalyst that were causing the problem,
I had recently converted my Header, Footer, Scripts etc to Content Holders in the site admin,
and when I removed these tags from my template and replaced them with the original html the problem disappeared.
The problem was happening on both my macs so the problem looked real to me,
but from searching online I couldn’t find people with similar issues, which made me think I must be doing something wrong.
As an aside,
I find the workflow between Dreamweaver CC and Business Catalyst, particularly in relation to DW templates very confusing.
I couldn’t find any up-to-date best practice guides for using DW in the Business Catalyst workflow that discusses the real issues I get every day:
- Best practice DW template editable region for {tag_pagecontent}
- BC pages updated from DW lose their page titles {tag_pagetitle} in BC admin (always causes problems for me)
If anyone is having these issues and found a way to get around them I’d be very interested,
I hope that this post will help some people who run into the same problem.

I found what may be at least a temporary solution to this problem. The error seems to something to do with the template file not having been updated, so whenever DW reads the file it looks like the template code has been changed (which of course it hasn't). It may be to do with the way BC treats the template code on the server side, as it seemed to start happening after I had downloaded some files from the server.
I opened the affected page and clicked Modify->Templates->Update Current Page and so far no error messages. Just one gotcha though. If you have any BC tags or Liquid code in your templates, DW converts it all to some kind of gobbledegook, so before you update the Template, copy all of your editable code and then paste it back in once the update has been done.

Changeing a site from Muse to Dreamweaver in business catalyst

HI guys, I have used various forums in the past to answer many questions about web design but never have I actualy asked a queastion - I really hope someone can help me please! (I can't seem to find a simple answer anywhere!)...
So here goes...
Being new to web design I created my very first site in Adobe Muse. My reasons for this were coming from a graphics/ print bacground the transition between the programs were really easy. I created my muse site quickly and uploaded it to business catalyst (incredibly easily) under the domain www.keep21.co.uk.
However as I progressed in learning more about web I decided to try and move away from Muse because I wanted to have more control of the code. For this reason I started to learn Dreamweaver. Being a person who never does anything by half I decided I would start from the basics and firstly learn HTML and CSS before I looked into the program. Having gotten my head around that I created a root directory and began to re-create the site I had built in Muse by hand-coding it into Dreamweaver. I made a few changed a long the way to simplify the design and I am now happy enough to take this site live (replacing the muse site I'd already created). HOWEVER.......... I have noooooo idea how to do this and have become very confused.
Can anyone please explain how to do this please? So to re-iterate I am looking to replace the files I have on business catalyst for the site 'keep' with my new dreamweaver site.
When I started the site I created a root directory and have four basic pages within the folder (index.html, about.html,pricing.htm and contact.html) I a lso have images, templates and CSS ready to go.
Any ideas?

Hi INTW,
While in Dreamweaver, Go to Site>>Manage Sites... >>Import Business Catalyst Site
Login if prompted and then select the site from the list and choose your current root folder
A connection will be automatically setup.
If you left the download entire site checked, the current remote site folders and files will be downloaded to your root.
All you have to do is upload your new files then go to your admin and set the 'site's start page'.
That's all there is to it.
PS, id suggest you 301 redirect the old pages instead of deleting them.
