Change the FEED for my podcast

Hello!!!
I have summited a feed for my podcast. And I want to change it. The feed is in my web page but I want to change it to a feed from FeedBurners so that I can get statics about my podcast.
How DO I do this.

I quote from Apple's podcast Tech Specs page
Changing Your Feed URL.
Podcasters occasionally need to move their feed from one location to another. To do so without losing subscribers, you must convey the change directly to all users who are subscribed to your feed. If possible, you should do two things:
You should use the <itunes:new-feed-url> tag described in the iTunes RSS Tags section below. The tag will cause the iTunes Store to be updated with the new feed URL, as well as all iTunes client versions that support podcasting.
You should set your web server to return an HTTP 301 response and redirect when receiving a request for the old feed. Doing so will cause both the iTunes Store and the most (but not all) iTunes clients that have subscribed to your podcast to pick up the new feed URL.
The <itunes:new-feed-url> tag will work for iTS and all versions of the iTunes client that support podcasting. The 301 redirect will work for most of your subscribers who do not use the iTunes client. We recommend that you use both methods to update the greatest possible number of subscribers with your new feed URL.
Be sure to maintain the <itunes:new-feed-url> tag and the 301 redirect for at least two weeks to ensure that most subscribers have attempted to download your most recent episode and have thereby received the new URL.
If you are not able to use both methods, you may want to include an audio note in your podcast, informing your subscribers that your podcast has changed locations.

  • Resummiting the feed for Itunes podcasting

I use Podbean for summiting my podcast on iTunes, I accidentally pressed the block podcasting to “yes”. It deleted my podcast from iTunes, I am trying to resubmit the feed but iTunes is giving me error telling me that the feed already exists. I am not in a position to change the name of the feed. Is there any other way to resubmit the feed back to iTunes?

It's very frustrating for you, but you've done all you can with the feed, which looks fine. The only thing I can suggest is that you try getting help at [email protected] , but I have no idea how likely they are to respond.

  • I fear I changed the feed, for months was in iTunes, now gone completely - Help?

    Our site: http://www.pleased2meetu.com
    Our (newish) feed: http://feeds.feedburner.com/PleasedToMeetYouPodcast
I think in using a service other than Feedburner got me in a pit with iTunes. I used Feedblitz.com - but the artwork never showed, nor any of the descriptors. It kept showing up as "Unknown" for all aspects, but did have the episodes listed.
So, I added us to Feedburner and deleted the Feedblitz entry. Now iTunes doesn't show it at all. I tried submitting the Feedburner one and it comes back with "already submitted"
Feedburner shows the XML file has all of the correct iTunes info, or so it seems.
Sticther now shows it, and the audiance can subscribe via iTunes (I've done it) via the feed URL and hitting "Add to itunes"
    Any ideas?

Roger - first thank you for your quick response - from my research, you are a super star and should be compensated by Apple, LOL!
Change the title slightly across the board? That's going to cause some headaches
I can subscribe through iTunes (as any user can) via the feed page itself, below, on the right hand side at "Add to iTunes"
    http://feeds.feedburner.com/PleasedToMeetYouPodcast
My current thought is to use that code ("Add to iTunes") and put it on our home page - and eventually get iTunes content fixed.
    Your thoughts?

  • How can I change the category for my podcast?

I just had my podcast approved, but the category is not correct.
I checked Powerpress and I selected Health-->self help, but in itunes it's listed under the general Health category.
Also when I submitted to iTunes, it said my secondary category was sexuality which was not correct.
How can I fix my categories and make sure they are in the right places?
Again I check Powerpress and I have the cateogries I want, but it's not showing up in iTunes.
    http://getbusylivingblog.com/feed/podcast/
That is my feed if it will help.

Sometimes the Store will show the wrong category during the submissions process. Wait until it's actually in the Store and see whether it comes out correct there - the feed itself is correct.

  • Switching RSS feed for my podcast

Hi. I may need to change the feed for my podcast. I've read the tech speks about adding the tag to indicate the location of the new feed, but I'm using FeedBurner and have no idea how to do that inside feedburner.
Does anyone know how to add the tags to tell iTunes of the location of the new URL if you're using feedburner.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is something you would have to ask Feedburner. As you have no direct access to the feed I suspect that you may find some difficulty - after all, Feedburner have no interest in helping you leave them.

  • Changing the destination feed for a podcast

    Hey guys.
    Hoping for some help.
I work for am Australian radio station and we're changing the name/presenters of our breakfast program.
This will affect our daily podcast XML which has a lot of subscirbers.
In addition to the name and artwork, we'll also be changing the feed destination itself, where the episodes are hosted. e.g.
    http://www.generic.com/oldshow/rss/podcast.xml
    Is now being hosted at
    http://www.generic.com/newshow/rss/podcast.xml
Is this something I just change in teh XML? Or will it mean creating a whole new podcast on iTunes and submitting it.
    Thanks.

In order to move the Store you need to add a special tag to the original feed an leave it there for a couple of weeks. This will move subscribers to using the new feed and they won't even notice. The method is described here:

  • Podcast is having issues since I changed the feed url

Ever since I changed the feed url for my podcast in itunes I have problems with the feed not working properly.
    http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=157571623
When I try to download random files or episodes in this podcast it wont download in itunes. I get an error code (-50) saying it could be a network problem. But if I go to the direct feed url which is this in safari browser. I can click on the mp3 link and it plays just fine. Then after doing that I can go back into itunes and click "get" on the exact same file that wasnt downloading earlier and now it downloads. Very odd. Once that is done all files in itunes download without any problems. I thought it was just something wrong with my itunes. But it only happens for my feed when I subscribe to it. I tried it on my windows system in itunes and having the exact same problem. I called a couple people up and its happeing with them in itunes also. When one of us accesses the feed by way other than itunes it will then work for awhile then go back to not working again. It started happening when I changed the url in itunes to have it point to the feedburner url. Im having the issue right now as a matter of fact. I cant even listen to the preview of each episode. Maybe someone can try the itunes feed and check it out for me. Any ideas?
Its frustrating. Im wondering if I need to just submit a new podcast to itunes.
PS: I posted this in itunes for windows, Im using both mac and windows. Its not specific to either OS.

Im pretty sure the problem has been resolve. We own both the .org and the .com extensions of our website. The primary being the .org and a redirect if a user goes to the .com address. I use feeder to create the podcast feeds and it has an autofill feature in it. Somewhere along the line on the enclosures I inputed the .com address instead of .org. Why the redirect works just fine in most feed readers. Apparently itunes doesnt support it. One of the users in the feedburner forum picked up on this. I corrected all the enclosure urls to .org as they should be and everything so far works fine.

  • We had to change the feed adress and the epsiode adresses. Now all the episodes of my podcast are downloaded (although i have downloaded them already). How can I make the changes in my feed and avoid that all the episodes are reloaded?

    Hello,
We had to change the feed adress (<itunes:new-feed-url>)and the epsiode adresses in the feed because the feed and the episode-files are on a new server. Now when i open my iTunes subscription of our podcast all the episodes of my podcast are downloaded again (although i have downloaded them already).
My Question therefore is: How can I make the changes in my feed and avoid that all the episodes are reloaded?
    Maybe have an answer?
    Thank you very much.

Thank you very much for your answer
As I see now, our 'guid' tags contain the episode URLs
To avoid this problem in the future i would like to change guid tags. Can you please tell me how a guid tag should look like if it is not the URL?
    Thank you for helping us!
ps now it looks like this eg:
    <guid isPermaLink="false">http://www.castyourart.com/podcasts/213_thinkglobal_en.mp4</guid>

  • Can I change the default for podcast deletion after listening?

I have only just discovered that many of my cherished podcasts have been getting deleted after I listen to them. I originally set the option to NEVER delete after listening when I first installed iTunes years ago and I haven't change it since. However, I can only assume that it was changed by Apple during an upgrade at some point and I never noticed. The delete after listening option has been set to On for podcasts going back many years (2008 at least).
    Two questions:
    1. Is there some way to change the default setting to Off?
    2. Is there a way to bulk change the setting for multiple existing podcasts?
    Thanks.
For what it;'s worth; I'm running iTunes 12.1.2.27 on Windows 7 64-bit on a Dell Latitude laptop.

Choose the Podcast view you are using (either Podcasts/Podcasts or Podcasts/Episode List) from below:
    or
and select Delete Played Episodes <Off> from the drop-down menu

Please always post the URLs of the Store page and the feed when you have a question. For reference, your feed is at
    http://www.japanesebaseball.com/services/jbw-podcasts.jsp
and the Store page is at

Looking at the Store page, the image appears there perfectly well. On subscribing there is no image associated with the episodes because you haven't embedded an image in the files - please see this page for clarification:

If "I Understand the Risks" is missing then this page may be opened in an (i)frame and in that case try the right-click context menu and use "This Frame: Open Frame in New Tab".
You can retrieve the certificate and check details like who issued certificates and expiration dates of certificates.
*Click the link at the bottom of the error page: "I Understand the Risks"
Let Firefox retrieve the certificate: "Add Exception" -> "Get Certificate".
*Click the "View..." button and inspect the certificate and check who is the issuer of the certificate.
You can see more Details like intermediate certificates that are used in the Details pane.
Note that some firewalls monitor secure (https) connections and send their own certificate instead of the website's certificate.

  • Problems with the RSS feed for my podcast

Hi, am very new to this so apologies if this requires a simple solution.
I was told that to find the RSS for my podcast, I hover my cursor over the subscribe button and this will be it. When I do this I get:
    itpc://www.jilt.org.uk/publichtml/publichtml/Podcast/rss.xml
I have tried this with itunes and it has been rejected as not working.
Other information that might be useful for anyone trying to help is that my url is www.jilt.org.uk.
I have entered "jilt" as the sitename on Iweb but this doesn't seem to come up anywhere.
Am very confused by it all and would hugely appreciate any advice.

You seem to be uploading to a server that uses a public_html folder as the root folder.
Inside this you have a copy of the public_html folder and, inside this is a copy of your website.
You also appear to have your files uploaded to the public_html folder because your podcast is available here....
    http://www.jilt.org.uk/Podcast/Podcast.html
So that you don't break the RSS feed what you need to do is this:
Publish the site to a local folder and you should get an index.html file and a folder named "jilt".
Upload these to the top level public_html folder. Now open the site in the browser and hover over the "Subscribe" button to get the feed's URL.

  • Is it possible to change the name of my podcast?

I want to change the name of my podcast. Is it possible? Please help.

This depends on the situation. If you were hand-writing the feed (which I assume you aren't) you could just change the 'title' tag. Some podcast creation programs or online service will let you change the podcast name, and doing that and re-publishing will get your name change onto the Store after a couple of days.
However, some programs or services create the feed with a file name which is drawn from the title. If you change the name you will change the feed URL and then iTunes won't know where to look for it and your podcast will cease to update.
So you need to take that into consideration before changing the title.

  • How do I change the name of a podcast once submitted to itunes??

how do I change the name of a podcast once submitted to itunes??
anyone know? I submitted my first podcast, then changed the name in feedburner. The new name is appearing once you are in the podcast window of my itunes, but not in the itunes store catalog. how do I fix?

Here's what iTunes Podcaster help says:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/store/podcaststechspecs.html
    Troubleshooting Your Feed
iTunes should update your listing at least once every 24 hours. If you made changes more than 24 hours ago that are not yet reflected in your iTunes listing, there is a good chance that your feed has broken. When iTunes encounters a broken feed, it ignores the feed and continues to display the old data.
Here is a set of recommended steps to fix your feed:
Ping your feed to make sure iTunes has attempted to update your feed recently.
Review the technical spec, particularly the example feed, to ensure that every detail of your podcast’s feed is supported by iTunes.
Use a feed validation service like www.feedvalidator.org to check for particular problems. This may be helpful in determining a specific problem with syntax.
If you used a software- or online-based feed creation service, check to ensure your settings there are correct and iTunes-compliant.
Subscribe to the feed in iTunes to see if it works. Open iTunes, go to the Advanced menu, choose "Subscribe to podcast..." and enter your feed’s URL.
Hope this helps - Podcaster's discussion board might have more answers:

  • When i try submitting my RSS feed for a podcast itunes says we are experiencing technical difficulties...... why is this and when will it be fixed?

when i try submitting my RSS feed for a podcast itunes says we are experiencing technical difficulties...... why is this and when will it be fixed?

Well, I can't see any problem with the feed, and the episode media file is correctly referenced and plays. Incidentally you do have a 'copyright' tag - it says 'Wippenberg'.
When a podcast feed is rejected, corrected and resubmitted there is a minor bug in the Store which causes you to be told that the podcast has already been submitted (which is true but irrelevant - it's really meant to prevent duplicates). To get round this you need to make a small change to the title - for example you could add a hyphen and space before 'Podcast'. You can always change it back once it's been accepted.
The other issue might be the content. The reason given for rejection tends to be technical issues, whatever the actual reason is. I haven't listened to your podcast, so I can't comment directly. Possible reasons for rejection are unacceptable content, sexual content or strong language when the 'explicit' tag is not said to 'yes', and copyright infringement: a lot of people fall over this one by including 'mixes' or indeed full plays of commercially issued recordings without having written permission from the copyright owners or alternatively a valid Podcast Licence (not available in all countries, possibly only the USA). I have no idea whether this might be an issue with yours.
