Change the ringtone on external calls

Hi all,
Working with a SPA 525G. Looking to change the ringtone when any external call comes through the VOIP Phone. Can the SPA 525G do that?
For example: I call our office from my cell, it identifies it as an external number to the site, and a different ringtone plays. I know you can program the personal address book to play different ring tones, but it's impossible to account for every number that might call a moderately sized business centre.
Really appreciate any help,

I was looking to change the ringtone of any interal call coming to the voip phone.
Here is what I did to solve the issue.
Login to the phone via browser on your pc. http://192.168.xxx.xxx
Click on personal directory. Add all of your phone extentions.
Example:
1. n=John Doe;p=100conXXX;r=12
2. n=Jane Doe;p=101conXXX;r=12
100 is the ext# XXX you replace with your numbers. You can find this number in your call logs.
Now when I receive a call from an extention inside the office, it has a different ring then a customer calling.

1. Set any of your songs on your SDcard as a phone ringtone:
Touch Apps > My music
While the music is playing, touch the phone Menu Key > More > Use as ringtone
The ringtone is set as your default incoming call ringtone and copied to your Phone ringtone list.
Note: The above instructions are for the My music player and not for other players such as Play music.      2. Choose Phone ringtones through settings menu:
Press the Menu key
Touch Settings
Touch Sound
Touch Phone ringtone (If option is greyed out, make sure handset volume is not set to Silent Mode)
Select a Phone ringtone from the list. Press OK to set. (Music files you have set as Incoming Call ringtone from your SDcard will be included in this list along with downloaded and preloaded ringtones.
3. Customize the text message ringtone
From the homescreen or from within the applications tray, touch Text messaging
Press the Menu key (On the left with 4 squares)
Touch Messaging Settings
Touch Select ringtones (if option is greyed out, make sure Notifications is turned on / actived)
Touch on any Notification ringtone to select and hear a sample.
Press OK to set as notification ringtone

4. Assign a ringtone to a specific contact:
Press Contacts icon on homescreen or tap on Contacts application from the Applications Tray
Touch and select the specific contact
Press the menu key
Touch Options
Touch V (down) icon next to Ringtone
Choose a Phone ringtone from the list and tap OK to set.
Note: To assign a music/song from your memory card as a ringtone, first follow step1 above and follow step 4 again. 5. Download ringtones from the Play Store
From the applications menu, touch Play Store
Touch search to search for ringtones.

It's not so simple to find it if you don't know what you're looking for... But it can be found via View - Show/Hide - Toolbar Items - Properties Bar.

I am not able to change the ringtone on my Palm Pre?

I spent a couple days on researching and troubleshooting, but unable to find anything. Can someone shed some lights? I followed the same instructions given on the Palm support website, but it wouldn't change the ringtone. I tried using the ringtones that were pre-loaded to the phones as well as ones I downloaded on iTunes but couldn't get it to work.
I am getting a bit frustrated now.

You need to have ringtones made specifically for the iPhone. You can make them yourself with iTunes, or if you are a Mac user, you can make them with Garageband. There are ways to make them with Windows, but you would have to Google that to get answers. We cannot post that information here. Once you have made them and add them to iTunes, you can sync them to the phone and select them on the iPhone itself. You cannot change the notifications for mail or text to personalized ringtones. Just for information.

Why can't I change the ringtone of my contacts?

I am having trouble getting the ringtone for my contacts to change. I have a standard ringtone that I use for everyone that I don't talk to frequently. The contacts in my phone that I talk to frequently I have assigned their own ringtone to differentiate them from other callers. I have been able to assign ringtones to everyone except for 1 of the contacts that I would like to. When I open my contacts I scroll to their listing and open it. Then I hit the menu hard button in the bottom left corner. I will select set ringtone and then scroll to the ringtone I want to use, select it, and hit ok. When that person calls it does not play the ringtone I selected. For some reason it is only playing my text alert sound. Any idea how to fix this? I am running Android 4.1.2.

I figured this out finally. But I didn't start looking for a fix in 2013 May, I started in April 2015. So 2 years late with this post but here's how I fixed this problem.
Delete the contact from your contacts list. Create a new contact listing for him/her, then assign the new ringtone to the new contact listing. Worked for me the first time I tried it. This is such a common fix for un-fixable problems with computers I figured 'What the heck, I'll try it.'.

I can't change the ringtone on my iPhone 4

I recently changed my wife's incoming ringtone on my phone to one I recorded from a CD. The default ringtone on my own phone is one I bought from Apple*.
Doing this changed the default for ALL incoming calls to the one I set for my wife even though SETTINGS shows my phone to be the default one as the one from the Apple ringtone.
Wait- it gets worse. I set my wife's personalized incoming back to the same default as I had on my phone. It looks correct on her CONTACTS profile, but still plays the one I recently set for her.
I tried resetting all of them to the original Apple marimba ringtone with no luck. How can I fix this?
*BTW-- older users will remember this tone. It's from the old movie In Like Flint. It's the ringtone from the President's "red phone" for international emergencies. It was sort of prophetic because the movie was from the mid '60s, when phones had actual bells, not ringtones.

How to change the letter on external HDD

My external hard drive was originally on the F drive and with this I had all my iTunes music too. However, for some reason, my computer has stopped recognizing the F drive; the following message is displayed when trying to open this drive:
"The drive or the network connection that the shortcut 'F Drive.ink' refers to is unavailable. Make sure that the disk is properly inserted or the network resource is available, and then try again."
The problem I now have is that the external hard drive is now the G drive and iTunes doesn't seem to recognize the path (G:\iTunes) I have told it to use, i.e., my music is not loading properly and only a small fraction is playable.
Can anyone help me on this matter?

I would recommend changing the external drive letter (G:) back to F.
Do you know how to do this?
After the external HDD was connected you should access the disk management and there you will see the HDD (single partitions) and the other drives.
Then you should mark the external HDD and should change the letter to F.
Possibly the F letter was reserved for another drive.
In such case you have to unlock the F letter by assigning another letter to the drive which uses the F letter.

After OS update, the ringtone of my text messages changed, and I can't find any option to change it. I find alert options for several apps, phone, e-mail, etc. But short text messages is not available to change in the menu.
I've deleted the original SMS app, maybe this cause this problem. I just can't find it in the app store (Blackberry World) to install it again.

Anybody? Any ideas?

How can I change the suffix Lightroom adds to externally edited files?
If I want it to be "-E" instead of "-Edit" for example, or "-Mod" instead of the long and ugly "-Modifier" in french version.
That would help me to get shorter filenames.

How to change the name of External Hard Disk?

I am new to Mac so if this is really easy and I am being completely lame here please excuse me.
I have an External Hard Drive that is being used by Time Machine. I don't want to see it on the desktop so I was going to change the name so it had a '.' character in front to hide it, as suggested on another thread because the hiding of external disks in the finder preferences doesn't quite work right.
How can I change the name? Do I have to reformat it? I don't want to do that because I have been using it for several weeks now so was hoping there is another way.

If I understand your question correctly, you erroneously placed a "." in the name field of your external hard drive to make it invisible. Now that the hard drive is invisible and therefore unusable, you want to remove the "." that you placed in front of the name of your external hard drive.
TinkerTool will allow you to see the drive and remove the "." from the name field using the TinkerTool>Finder>Finder options: [✓] Show hidden and system files.

Targus does manage our inter-carrier caller ID feature. However, if the field is coming up as California, it may be because you have a California number, and the person receiving the call has a city/state identifier based on the number calling them. This is something that cannot be altered because it is up to the person receiving the phone calls to disable that feature with their cellular/landline provider.
Here's a second scenario: On the other hand, if the person you are calling doesn't have the state/city identifier on their caller ID, and your NAME comes across as "California" on the caller ID, we would open up a trouble ticket to have the name cleared with Targus.
Note: The name can only be cleared, and not altered. After it is cleared, it will show up as Cellular/Wireless Caller.

How is it not letting you do it, what happens exactly? when you try to change the profile?
If it is BES, if you wipe the device by going to options/security/general settings then pressing the menu button and going down to wipe handheld, that is the best way to get rid of it of BES mail. Obviously back up your device first. People say you can just delete service books, but those can be repushed.
If it is a BIS account, call your carrier and have them remove the account, or call your friend and have him log into the BIS account and remove the email account. To determine what kind of mail it is, open a message, scroll to the very top and read the top line. If it says received using desktop secure, its BES, if its the email address, its BIS
