Change timezone in Java-only system

Does anyone know how to change the timezone on a Java-only system?
I have already added the setting "-Duser.timezone=America/Dallas" on the configtool, but when I look at the logs in NWA, it still looks like it is reporting on GMT timezone.
Thanks!

  • Copy VMWare image of Java only system

    Hello,
We are running an SAP Java only System (NW 7.0) with a MSSQL 2000 DB on Windows running VMWare. We are trying to create a clone of that server to create another JAVA only SAP system.
We have changed the Computer Name in MSSQL and that is up and running. We have also changed the instance profile paramters to point to the new Server name.
    Couple questions:
    1) Is this possible to do with a JAVA only system?
    2) The JControl process keeps failing. I've changed the instance.properties file to point to the new server host and when I start the system it keeps pointing back at the old one. Is this file defined somewhere else?
Has anyone done this before or tried it? If you have, can you provide any tips or tricks on how to accomplish this.
    Thanks,
    Dale Dingmann

  • Table in PI JAVA only system & Report development in JAVA only system

    Dear Experts ,
We are migrating from Dual to Single stack JAVA only PI system.
In Dual stack system all the message data are stored in ABAP table from which MONI pulls data .
But in JAVA only system how data is stored ..? and how to access those table ..?
we need a report to develop which will have these data .
    Interface name
    Date & time of run
Key Data (if possible would like to see key data from the run, for example po number, material number, part number, idoc number would all be considered key data)
    Pass/Fail flag

How & where to write code to develop this report ...?

To setup a gateway service on a Java-only machine do the following:
    1.
Edit the profile START_SCS00_##### adding the following two lines

  • EWA for Java only systems

    Hi,
I'm searching for a guide to set up EWAs for Java only instances. Currently I have my Java instances in SMSY as system components, but how do I set up the EWAs as only ABAP instances are selectable. I'm using the latest SP, so this functionality should be available finally. I can't find a document about that anywhere, just some very bad documented snippets in SPRO...
    Regards,
    Pascal

    Hi Pascal,
EWA for Java systems is currently in a pilot phase. It will be released with the note 976054, which is currently still being processed internally.
Note 976054 contains a setup instruction for EWA for non-ABAP-components.
Technically, for pure Java systems the "Central SDCCN" of the Solution Manager is used as indeed pure Java systems do not have a SDCCN.
Double stack installations do not make use of the Central SDCCN, using their local SDCCN to obtain the non-ABAP data that is collected by the Diagnostics part of the Solution Manager.
The note will be released in the very near future.

    Walter Heibey

  • Can Java only system use CTS+?

We have 3 Java only (EP7.0) systems.
    We also have a SM7.0(A+J).
Can we configure CTS+ for the EP7.0 using SM7.0 as the domain controller?
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi Jennifer,
YES it's possilbe. The very basic rational for CTS+ is to support Java based transports.
Please refer to this SDN post for How...to setup CTS+ for your portal

  • How to create a support message in a JAVA only system?

    PLease help, thanks!

    Hi Jennifer,
Work Center are the new interface within SAP Solution Manager shipped as of Stack 15.
They are developped with WebDynpro, which allows an easy Web integration.
    http(s)://<host>:<port>/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/ags_work_incident_man
    http(s)://<host>:<port>/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/ags_workcenter
Work Center Incident Management would handle
    - Create Message
    - Follow-up on created message (reply, confirm, add texts, add attachments)
for the end user, who created the incident.
Due to the Web Access, granting authorizations is quite easy and the user can not perform unexpected tasks.
Usage requires ideally a name user in SolMan system for Logon  and a Business Partner.
See also these threads to setup and adapt Work Centers:
[Setup Work Center|Re: SOLMAN SP 15 - NOT ASSIGNED TO WORKCENTER]
[Adopt Work Center|Re: Incident Management Work Center Customizing]
(By the way, current SolMan release is 7.0, as 4.0 was renamed)

  • Kernel Change on ABAP+JAVA Dialog instances

    Hi guys (& girls).
    Another question from me.
I installed two Dialog instances for an ABAP+JAVA System (BI 7). The Central instance is on AIX, the DIs are running on SLES / x86_64.
Now i want to change the kernel.
It's fully automated for the Centeral Instance - i do it with the JSPM. Is there also an automated possibiltiy for changing the kernel on the DI? Or do i have to do it manually?
There is no extra JSPM on the DIs. How do you do that????
    Thanks for your help,
    Martin

    Hi,
the above link does only describe Java only systems
For my distributed environments, I have setup a global NFS share which looks like:
    kernel
    \_ 640_EX2_UC
    |  \_ linuxx86_64
    |   |   \_ current -> ./PL145
    |   |   \_ PL111
    |   |   |   \_ disp+work
    |   |   |   \_ ... [all other files]
    |   |   \_ PL145
    |   |      \_ ...
    |   \_ aix
    |      \_ current -> ./PL145
    |      \_ PL111
    |         \_ ...
    |     ...
    \_ 700_NUC
The instances are linked against the current link, which points to the right kernel folder. I setup a script with copies my latest downloads to these folder structure by creating a new PLXXX folder. Then, when it is time, the "current" link is set to the new "PLXXX" folder. Thats all

  • NW04S Java - Distributed System. DB Instance migration to new hardware.

Hi, I have a distributed NW04S Java only system. CI and CSC on Host A and DB on host B.
1.We want to move the DB instance from Host B to Host C. We will move the database from B to C using Oracle methods. What are the steps that need to be done on the CI/SCS instances/Host A to make the application connect to the DB on host C instead of B.
    2. The new DB host is actually a node of 2 node MSCS setup. How can we enable clustering for the DB instance alone and still make the CI?SCS connect to the clustered DB?
For unavoidable reasons we do not want to follow the sapinst/jload system copy method.
    Any directions, higly appreciated.
    Thanks-Gopalan

Hi, I ve managed to get this working.
    3 simple steps
    1. Change db host entries in the Default profile
    2. Change tnsnames.ora to new DB host in usr..\profile\oracle\ in the App Host.
    3. Change host name in secure store on app server using config tool.
    Thanks

  • XI on java only

    Hi,
Can we install XI on java only system?
    Thanks and Regards.

    Hi,
    No, it is not possible.
You need both ABAP and JAVA stack. As different stakc of XI handle different functionality.
J2EE stakc containd the J2ee adapters while ABAP stack has the Integration Server with BPE, Integration ENgine. etc.
Take a look at the XI architetcure Overview ,

  • Java-only, Component based message alerting - loopback to sender system

    Dear guys,
we are using the alert framework availbale on PI 7.11 to notify the sender system if there is an alert for specific interfaces. In that case a customer function module is called giving the message id of the request message (message is sent via ABAP proxy). As a result the according entry in customer table is updated.
The implemntation is based on the BADI ALERT_MODIFY_TEXT and uses the standard function module ALE_BAPI_GET_UNIQUE_RECEIVER to determine the system /rfc destination to send the alert notification.
This solution works fine so far.
As PI 7.11 dual stack is not the latest release, we are thinking of upgrading to current PI/PO release. In this context also shift to java-only installation is contemplated which will need an alternative solution for the described alert/error notification loopback.
Are there any possibilities analog to BADI to implement such a solution?
What are your approaches regarding this requirement in the context of java-only?
    Any help/thoughts appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Jochen

    Hello,
    >>What are your approaches regarding this requirement in the context of java-only?
I would suggest you to schedule jobs like this:
Customize Alerts Using Job in PI 7.31/PO
    >> alerts are consumed according to the given interval and not in "real time" when error occurs, today solution using BADI is "real time" - if possible I would prefer "real time" solution
    Check this:
Michal's PI tips: How to trigger an alert for Component Based Message Alerts (CBMA) via "API" ?
    >>an separate service determine the actual alert count would be helpful to provide the correct value for maxAlerts, this have to be called beforehand
I haven't tried it but i think u can do that, since these consumers are nothing but JMS queues only so i think there will be a method to read number of alert counts.
    >>In history I saw emails generated by the standard alert consumer which only contain details for the first alert, in my case I need details especially the message id for all errorneous messages
If ur max alert parameter is greater than 1 then u should see multiple alert text  (along with message id and other details) in ur email message.
    Thanks

  • Changing TimeZone for Calendar object doesnt change its time

Hy, I have a Calendar object with I have set with a Date but I I want from this calendar with the Date set, set other timezone for this calendar and get the corresponding time(always gettting the correct time if is in daylightsavings) but I get the same time.
    Calendar calendario = Calendar.getInstance
    calendario.setTime(new Date());
    System.out.println(calendario.getTime()); *// for example I get the 14:12:25 hours for GMT+01:00*
calendario.setTimeZone(TimeZone.getTimeZone("GMT+02:00")); *//change time zone using GMT*
    System.out.println(calendario.getTime()); *// I get the same hour: 14:12:25*
Why? How to do it using GMT format?

Ok, thanks. The last question, this changing of timezone and the hour I am getting, is respecting the timezone daylight saving?, I mean if the TimeZone I set is in daylight savings, I will get the correct hour according to this? What DrClap said.
However, I think you still may be under some misapprehension about time zones:
    1. A Date does NOT have a timezone, even though it stores a date/time value.
    2. Setting a Calendar's timezone does NOT change the time stored in the Calendar. You may even need to run its complete() or computeFields() method to have the timezone change reflected in all its fields (not sure).
    3. As DrClap said, if you are using a DateFormat to display the Calendar, you need to set its* timezone in order to see what you want (for reason 2 above).
It's amazing to me that after 10 years this API still gives so many problems (and believe me, you're not the only one).
One thing you might also want to do is have a look at [url http://joda-time.sourceforge.net/]Joda Time. It's been around for a long time now, and so is quite mature; and is fully interchangeable with standard Java date/time classes. In fact, many of its ideas were under consideration for Java Version 7 as JSR-310, but were decided against (still not quite sure why, as in my view the current API is very poor).
