Change tmp path in Database & Application

I am using 11i (11.5.10.2)
I have one Server having Two instance one DEV & another DEMO
both using the same tmp directory in database & application
Please help me,
How can I define separate tmp for each instance.

I don't know what is wrong but it gives me a message saying (more o less) that "o:/yyyy.mdb" is not a valid path. I don't know why it changes the path i use in the "getConnection" parameters. I don't kow where it cacth the "o:/yyyy.mdb".

I finaly found the solution. My mistake.
The database i am accessing have some linked tables to another database. My statement is querying one of this tables. That is because te system returns me the message with another path.

How to change the path of all dbf files once database installed...

I m using 10g Database...
During my DBCA installation I forget to change location of the database files, redlologs and control files... and my Database is successfully installed. Now, I want to change my all these above mention files location And also adump,bdump,cdump and udump...so what I did is
1- create pfile from spfile.
2- Shutdown immediate.
3- from OS level copies all files to new location.
4- Editing in pfile
5- Startup with new pfile and check all the locations...
for datafiles
SQL> select FILE_NAME,TABLESPACE_NAME,STATUS from dba_data_files;
(this shows me the older location not new one.)
for controlfiles,adump,bdump,cdump and uduump
SQL>Show parameter...
6- create spfile from pfile .
pl. suggest me what should I do for the datafiles?

I go through with both links and able to success for the renaming of all datafiles except system and undotbs.. as below :
SQL> alter tablespace sysaux offline normal;
Tablespace altered.
SQL> alter tablespace sysaux rename datafile '/u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/oradata/elitrepl/sysaux01.dbf'
2 to '/u01/app/oracle/oradata/elitrepl/sysaux01.dbf';
Tablespace altered.
SQL> select FILE_NAME,TABLESPACE_NAME,STATUS from dba_data_files;
FILE_NAME TABLESPACE_NAME STATUS

but for the system n undotbs.. what I did is below :
SQL> startup exclusive mount elitrepl

Database altered.
SQL> alter database elitrepl open;

Now, I don't hv any backup of my database.... let me know how to overcome this scenario?

Although i have installed xamp on my windows7 and have stopped mysql service.
But still dont know why this error persists.

I am facing a problem while installing developer trail version. Below is the error.

Now the installation struck at "Install database client". I have checked all the place that I know in windows like "Processes" and "Services" to see any MaxDB instance is running. I could not find any such. So I am thinking There will not be any applications which can acces database. unfortunatly installation step is thinking it as if there were some other applications running on it.
Any help to solve would be a great help.

Change /servlet/ path

Hey guys.
I have a application developed to tomcat, I can deploy it ok in my OC4J 10.1.2.0.2.
But the application has some "hardcoded" URL to search the servlets like this /servlet/co.com.pragma.eo.servlets.usuarios.activacion.UbicarUsuarioEnEnlace
The thing is that in the old tomca I was able to call the app like this:
http://machine.com/app.html
But in OC4J I need to call this app like this:
http://machine.com/appname/app.html
and all my code is trying to look into the root and all the servlets; and this ones are suppose to be somethih like /appname/servlet/co.com.pragma.eo.servlets.usuarios.activacion.UbicarUsuarioEnEnlace .
What I need is to tell OC4J that all the servlets in /appname/servlet/ can be also called from /servlet/
What can I do?

If you are using the Oracle Application server suite with the IAS, you can configure this option under -
/Apache/Apache/conf/httpd.conf
Look for DocumentRoot variable and give the path as
../j2ee/home/applications/<application_name>/<application_name>
once you make changes and save it ,
Do a restart of the application server by doing a opmnctl restartproc and check up your application.
One drawback in this approach is that you need to change it back to the original parameters when you undeploy the application and then change it back after the application has been deployed.
Dont know why this happens .

The question I have is... How do you change the path settings for the 2 required swfs (the skin swf and the player)? I would ideally like to have all my flash components including the skin swf and the player swf in the same folder as the flv (rather than have the swfs in the root of the same folder as my html doc), but everytime I try to adjust the path settings of the swfs in the above code I get a white screen.
hope this makes sense and is not confusing...
Any suggestions?

Is it possible to change the path of the JSESSIONID in WebCenter Content (formerly UCM)?

We are having problems with multiple portal applications, spaces, and WebCenter Content all using JSESSIONID. I know you cannot change the name or path of the cookie in spaces and I know how it can be changed in the apps. I also know that Oracle do not recommend changing the name in UCM, which would be OK if we could change the path from "/" to something else...say "/cs". I have not been able to find a way to do this so any help would be appreciated.

Simple java/mysql database application question about triggers

I am planning a new database application using java and mysql. I may want to use some triggers to automatically update the tables when a change is made. my question is this: If I write the trigger, and I use Java to modify the database, will java automatically pause and let the trigger finish doing its task before it continues? what if it writes more to the table before the trigger is finished modifying the table? how do I get java to pause and let the trigger finish?

It doesn't have anything to do with java at that point.
When you execute, for example, an insert statement, then the database executes that statement. The database (not java, not the driver) decides with that statement is complete. Control returns to java when the database decides that execution is complete.
And except for tricks that one might do (or attempt to do) via SQL or triggers then when the statement execution finishes then everthing has completed running.

Nokia PC Suite 6.86.9.0 and change default path

Hi,
Does anybody know how to change the default paths for "File Manager", "Contacts" and "Messages"?
When entering those parts of PC Suite it automatically tries to open C:\Program Files\Nokia\Nokia PC Suite 6 folder (installation folder) but in my case this path _must_ be changed in order for the application to work (We use Softgrid to virtualize the application and cannot use hardcoded paths).
Any ideas?

what about installing the app to a different folder that you need from the very start?
also this path is mentioned in the following registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Nokia\PCSuite\ApplicationPath1
but i'm not sure if its a good idea to mess with it

Did you try to remove the "#" character before every line you changed?
Save the file...
Reload/Refresh it in the Portal...

How to manage a Database Application with more than two tables

Hello All,
I need to manage (reconciliation and provisioning) a database application where user attributes are strored in seven tables.
Reference guide for Database Applications Table connector says that only two tables can be managed using this connector.
Which is the best way to solve this problem? Could I create a view in my database ? are database views supported? Must I create a new conector?

I developed it from scratch due to complex requirements for accessing tables and their relationship. You can use current connector for your reference.at higher level you need to do only two change (1) build query from xml files to add,update,delete* record across seven tables - (2) changing oim elememnt ( use connector guide for changing element to match your needs)
To develop new connector :
(1) study relationship between these tables (1:*) and fields of interest and also ,as earlier mentioned timestamps for fetching changed record. based on your requirement.
(2) create OIM elements , something you have when you deployed DB app. connector. modify it for requirement. i.e fields .. trusted , non trusted. process task,adapter
(3) Develop classes to get execute query on database. create adapters to perform add/update/delete operation on 7 tables.

YES!!!
I finally managed to recover my iPhoto library!
But it was not easy. I had to hack into the database file to put up things right.
After a significant amount of trial-and-error, here is the procedure I came to, which finally worked for me (use at your own risk):
0. Make sure you make enough backups so as to revert to the previous state if something goes wrong!
1. Make a copy of your iPhoto Library [Show Package Contents]/Database/apdb/Library.apdb to your desktop.
This file contains most of the data involved for managing your iPhoto data.
2. Open this file using a SQLite database manager.
I used Navicat 9.1, which has nice import-export features. For direct editing, Base 2.0 is may be easier.
3. Open the table RKMaster.
This table contains all records for the individual pics of your library.
4. Correct the path of each of your pic files in the imagePath column to their current filepath.
This contains the path of your pic files at the time they were imported, and is not updated by iPhoto even though you have moved your pic files somewhere else.
If you have several thousands of paths to correct, a good idea is to export this column to a text file (also including the modelId column for referencing), and to correct paths using the substring Search&Replace function of your favorite text editor. Be sure to re-import the corrected data properly using the modelId column as references.
5. If needed, correct in the same manner the content of the fileVolumeUuid column to the value of the drive currently containing your picfiles.
If needed, obtain this value considering a pic which was recently imported from that drive.
6. If your drive name was modified, also correct its name in the name column of the RKVolume table.
Identify the proper record by considering its uuid previously obtained.
7. If you're happy with your work, quit the database managing program and put Library.apdb back in its original location inside your iPhoto Library.
Keep the older somewhere in case something goes wrong.
8. Run iPhoto to see if your work is successful!
At this point, you might consider rebuilding the Photo Library (hold alt-cmd while launching iPhoto) and choose Repair the iPhoto Library Database (Be sure to leave the Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup unchecked!). This might correct some possible unconsistencies resulting from your edits. Also, a good thing might be to rebuild all thumbnails. If iPhoto does not bug you for locating files during that process, you have possibly done your work right! If not, back to step 1.
As said, this worked for me, with no visible inconsistencies or side effects to be noticed in the behavior of iPhoto (at least for now). But possibly some knowledgable people might comment and improve that process, and some database script guru might also help automating this. Please comment.
Lessons learned (How I understand the things as far as I know):
A. Library.apdb stores the initial drive and path of the pic files at the time they were imported. This is not modified as the files are moved around.
B. Some other data (BLOBs?) is used to track the files at their actual location. Therefore, it seems OK to move the pic files after they were imported.
C. Unfortunately, this other data is broken if the file is recreated (even with same content and location), for example with a file-based backup and restore (Time Machine).
D. In that case, iPhoto is unable to recover the file if its current drive and path does not match the one when the file was imported, stored in the database. Also there is no mechanism in iPhoto to correct this data.
E. Therefore, it is very important to import pic files in iPhoto only when these are already in their final location! If not, your iPhoto Library won't survive a TimeMachine backup and restore! (Possibly, a block-based drive backup could work... I don't know).
F. ...And Apple should really, really fix this issue! (By correcting the stored filepath and drive to the current file location at least when the database is repaired, and by offering at least some basic file reconnection options).
