Change to Wifi enabled phone?

With my Nokia Lumia930, if I am inside someones house, i.e my own, friends or relitives I will not get signal; and are dependent on wifi messages apps such as Facebook or Whatsapp.  Obvisouly I need to be able to recive calls from other people and not just my friends and family, which I cannot do.  So would it possible to change my Lumia930 for a wifi calling enabled phone? From the EE website I see a grand total of 6 phones that are compatible. would I be able to switch to any of these? Or am I bound to a phone that practically doesn't work....

Hi,
EE don't guarantee any coverage indoors or 100% of the time.
Unless you buy another phone then EE will not exchange your phone.
Thanks,
Stuart

  • Error message when connect to wireless router with wifi enabled phone

    Wireless router model WRT54G Ver.2
i would like to seek help on this.
I have been using a wirreless router to access the internet with my computer and it has been working fine. recently i got a handphone with wifi capability (nokia 5800). I managed to connect the phone to connect to the wireless router (it says so in the phone status). but when i tried to open the browser in the phone i got an error message "No Gateway Reply".
Can anyone help me to troubleshoot?
    I enable WEP for security.
another thing is, i tried to use the phone to connect to another wireless router at the cafe, it worked well.
    thanks

When you connect your handphone to your wireless network, whats the IP address you are getting it on your handphone, if required you can provide a static ip on your handphone i.e IP : 192.168.1.10, Subnet : 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway : 192.168.1.1, DNS1: 4.2.2.2, DNS2 : 4.2.2.1 and after this you can restart your handphone and try to check if you are able to go online or not.

  • HT4137 I plugged our phone into our mac to charge it and it changed the name of the phone to my wife's phone.  Attempt to backup from I cloud only gives backups since the name change. How do I reclaim my phone's name?

I plugged my i phone into our mac just to recharge it and somehow it recognized it as my wife's phone and changed the name of the phone to hers.  I lost the carrier I was using, though it still can connect to internet.  I tried to erase all settings and content, and then back up from I cloud, but it only offered backups since the name was changed.  I can't make any calls at this point.

Just plugging it in doesn't change the name. If this was the first time you connected to this computer, you should have selected "Set up as New Device".
You will need to restore and since you no longer have a backup for this phone, you will lose your data.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Firstly, you need to change your details with Apple,  Start here, change your country if necessary and go to manage your account.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > store, scroll down and tap your ID)

  • Phone functionality on WiFi-enabled IPAD

I want to get an ipad that will also allow me to use it as a phone anywhere I am.  Is this functionality available in the US yet, if I have a WIFI enabled IPAD?
Is there a specific IPAD model I need?  Are there apps that will allow me to use my WIFI-enabled IPAD as phone as well as for Facetime or simply use Facetime Audio as an alternative to phone functionality?

To use it anywere even when wifi is not available you would have to get a ipad that works with verizon and you would have to purchase a plan.  you could go prepaid or add it on to your exisiting plan if you alreeady have cell service.  depending on your current plan would depend on the monthly cost.  as far as phone calls the tablet will not come with the abillity to do so however there are free apps you can download to do phone calls and texting

  • TS4036 My wife and I have iPhones that backup to iCloud I upgraded my iPhone to iPhone 5 when I see stored from iCloud it restored all of my wife's phone data not mine how do I change it

My wife and I have iPhones that backup to iCloud I upgraded my iPhone to iPhone 5 when I see stored from iCloud it restored all of my wife's phone data not mine how do I change it

You need to restore from your backup and not your wife's. You need to check if your backup is under the same or different apple id. If Id is the same you need to erase phone and find correct backup to restore from. If different you just need to use it at restore time.

  • Changed my wifi password on my router. Phone now saying "incorrect password". Know the password is correct.

Changed my wifi password last night. Immediatley my 4s says "incorrect password". Know the password is correct. I've reset network settings, hard restart, turned on/off, reset router, and restored phone to backup before the password change. Both parents iphones connect with no trouble and so does my laptop (pc).

If you get a chance, try another public wi-fi, like a McDonalds for example.  If you still can't connect to that, even after resetting all network settings [again] (which you can try while at the public wi-fi), then it's probably hardware related.  If there's an Apple store near you, I'd have them look at it and try to connect to wi-fi while in store.  If you end up needing a replacement, make sure they test the wi-fi in store, in front of you.

  • Is there anyway to change the iCloud apple ID in the iPhone 4? I accidentally put my in for my wife's phone.

I put my apple id in for my wife's phone when setting up iCloud.  Is there anyway to reset it so I can put her's in?

Just press Delete Account and then delete content off the phone - nothing will be removed from the cloud - then press iCloud option in Settings - and enter your credentials

Verizon is using the Elipsis tablets to steal data from their customers.  The only way to stop data from registering as cellular data is to pull the SIM card.  This occurs with wifi enabled and cellular, dara disabled.  If,you take your tablet to a Verizonstore they will upgrade your data plan to cover the overage and credit the upgrade.  You will then have to remember to downgrade your plan or continue to pay for more data.  Verizon, how would you feel if I walked into one of your stores and started filling my pockets with merchandise?  If cought can I just give the product back and say "oops, sorry"

Today, my FCC complaint hit the same person working on the BBB complaint.  Jimmie has been very nice and seems willing to work with this problem.  We have been able to come to an agreement.  I paid the purchase price for the phone and he returned my upgrade and unlimited data plan.  This is what would have occurred if Verizon had given me correct information to begin with.  I am happy with this result.  He also brought quite a few instances concerning the handling of my transfer and upgrade that did not follow proper procedure.  I am also confident that I would not have resolved this without complaining to BBB and or FCC.  Verizon had no interest in solving the problem nor did they show any propensity to keeping a 20 year client.  Even though this last CSR was very polite and helpful, his sole job is to respond to formal Federal and State complaints.  He is required by law to address every complaint and report the reporting agency the agreed upon results - good or bad.  Again, I suggest - If you are not getting the proper customer service, complain to someone outside of Verizon.  Jimmie had not received any complaints registered with Verizon directly and I still have not had any contact with any other management representative that I was told would call.

  • How do I add another iPhone to my Find my iPhone app (my wife's phone)?

While pretty explanatory in the question, the problem is this: I'd like to add my wife's phone to my Find my iPhone app and mine to her's so we can not just track each other but the other's phone in the event of a loss or theft.  My products are already added.  We're just seeing if we can do this.  Any help is appreciated.  Thank you.

The app will automatically show devices that are have Find My iPhone enabled, and are using the iCloud account that the app is signed into.  If your wife's phone is using a different iCloud account, you'll have to sign out, then sign back in using her ID to view it.

  • Windows 7 thinks my phone is my wife's phone when connected.

Not sure where to post this.  I found one other person with this issue after I Googled it but no solution.  Long story short - we have 2 iPhones in the family and 2 separate profiles set up on the PC with Windows 7.  When I plug my phone in via USB on my profile, the auto play window pops up (to view files or import photos) and it displays my phone with the name of my wife's phone.  In Windows under "devices" it is also recognized as my wife's phone.  Before iOS5, Windows used to differentiate between our two phones and displayed our different phone names correctly.  Now both phones show up as the name of my wife's phone.  Anyone else run into this issue after iOS5?

Sadly, no.  It shows up as a "portable device" and a "digital camera."  I can go to properties and highlight the incorrect name, but cant edit it or delete it.
I found this with a Google search:
You can change the name text in the '[Strings]' section of the .INF file included with the driver (edit it with Notepad), then run the setup.exe. Windows will then display that name in "Devices and Printers" and "Device Manager".
Meh.  I like Apple because 90% of the time you just plug it in and it works without issue.  I'm not comfortable editing .INF files.  I shouldn't have to.  I'd be curious to know if this issue is happening to Mac users after the iOS5 update.  I wonder if it has to do with the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver that was automatically installed after I updated her phone to iOS 5.  I did mine first and then hers.  Perhaps if I updated my phone after hers it would display only my phone name for both phones.

  • Dissapearing emails appear on the wife's phone

Third time now that my Charter emails have dissapeared from my phone, and appeared on the wife's phone. They also dissapeared from Outlook on the home computer. We both have an Iphone 4 and use the same Apple ID account. Our Bellsouth emails are unaffected. Now I'm getting her texts on my phone. What gives?

    Hi alvarez007,
It sounds as though your and your wife used your Apple ID to set up your iPhones at some point. You will want to change the Apple ID that her phone is using. Use the steps in this article -
Find My iPhone Activation Lock: Removing a device from a previous owner’s account
She can then use your Apple ID just for purchasing by following these steps -
Using your Apple ID for Apple services
    Specifically -
In Settings > iTunes and App Stores, sign in with the Apple ID you want to use for Store purchases (including iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match). You may need to sign out first to change the Apple ID.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • Why do my incoming phone call ring on my wife's phone as well as mine?

Why do my incoming phone call ring on my wife's phone as well as mine?

That is a new "feature" described in Connect your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch using Continuity
You can turn it off by going to Settings > FaceTime and changing "iPhone Cellular Calls" to off.

  • My wife's phone became mine, but it shows her icloud account rather than mine when it was restored, how do I correct?

My wife's phone became mine when she got the iphone 5.  We reset the phone and I restored it off my PC, but it held her icloud id so mine is not showing up.  How do I change it to mine?  I can't see any way to logout and relog in under my info?

This is with iOS6 on iPhone.
Go to Settings > iTunes & App Stores.  Click on the Apple ID field & it should give the choice to sign out.  Then sign into your other Apple ID.
