Change Turkish Characters in IE address bar

I want to link a document in our local area network like this:
http://testsite/a.doc
IE can not open this link because it has a turkish character.
when I change it to http://testsite/as.doc it is ok.
But I can`t change all of the docs. There are a lot of.
Is there any way to link http://testsite/a.doc this address.
I tried to change with (& # 3 5 1 ; ) but it doesn`t work.

That was a day out of my holiday weekend I'll never get back again. But I found the cause so thought I'd post it in case it happens to someone else. My new Dell has switchable graphics. Don't know much about this but the control app is called Catalyst Control Centre from Radeon Graphics AMD. When this app switches Firefox to using the High Performance setting, the problem happens as described above. Can't type more than one letter or sometimes 4 or 5. Tabs don't work and other odd stuff.
But switch the graphics to Power Saving mode for Firefox and the problem goes away, Firefox works normally. If I can work out how to report this to Radeon/AMD I will but I hope someone in Mozilla community works for them and can do it directly!
Cheerio.

  • How do I change default search engine in address bar?

I know in previous incarnations of Foxfire I could use about:config and change Keyworld.url to change my default search engine. I recently reset my Foxfire because I've been having issues with the Origin website and.. now it's defaulted back to Google. I do not want to use google. How do I change this? I do not want a search bar, I do not wanna change things in a search bar. I just want the address bar to work the way I've always had it work for me before. Can ANYBODY help me?

That does not help me at all. I do not want the Search Bar. I don't wanna change the default on the search bar. Why would ANYONE want a search bar when the address bar does the searching for you?
I want to change the default on the ADDRESS bar. The main bar and only bar I have. The one that if you type in anything, it automatically searches Google and there seems to be no way to change it. You could change it before by going to about:config and changing Keyword.url, but Foxfire removed that. Now.. I want to take the Address bar off it's default of Google and switch it to something else.
Once again, I want NOTHING to do with the Search Bar. I don't want it, don't want to change what it searches, nothing. I never use it and never have. I want to change the ADDRESS bar's default search.

  • How do I change the size of the address bar in Safari in Yosemite?

I'm hating all this blank space.  Plus, I work with many open windows and am constantly copying and pasting links into the address bar in Safari, so it works better for me to have a longer address bar.  I've already poked around in Preferences and the Customize Toolbar, but maybe I overlooked something. Does anyone know if this can be changed?

Yes. I tried deleting the spacers, moving the spacers, removing and re-adding the address bar, and nothing.  All it does is add blank space to the end (And actually that picture got cut off. There's space on the right side too).  I tried adjusting the space, but I don't think I can do that either?

  • How do I change the wallpaper around the address bar?

I customized the wallpaper around the address bar through a pop up advertisement. The option disappeared after posting a picture. It is too bright. How do I change it?

Ahh. The issue is the system perrefences -> Wallpaper screen came up behind an open app on the second screen and therefore I didn't see it.
    Thanks Mr. Vortex!

  • Http redirects not changing url in address bar

I'm going crazy trying to fix a major bug in our application. Http
redirects are not changing the url in the address bar of the latest versions of internet explorer. But this only happens if the redirected page is an xml page with an xslt reference for the browser to do the transformation. Mozilla seems to work fine, but I seem to have encountered a major bug in Internet Explorer. If anybody can help or at least point me in a direction I'd be SO grateful. This doesn't seem to be a java servlet specific issue, but that's what we're using so I thought I'd ask the question here too.
We have an MVC type framework we developed. For example, if you were to add something to a shopping cart, the url might be:
http://ecommerce.com/cart/add?sku=54321. In the add servlet, we would add the sku to your shopping cart and then redirect to, let's say,
http://ecommerce.com/displaycart. I think this is how most MVC frameworks work. And it works great for us.
The problem began when we started sending XML to the browser with an XSLT stylesheet. So now the browser does the transformations (if the browser is capable of doing them, which we check) instead of the server. This is a major part of our project. One of the reasons we started this.
The problem is that Internet Explorer no longer updates the url in the
address bar after a redirect. Mozilla works great though. We haven't
tested on other xslt capable browsers yet. In the example above, what would happen is after adding something to your shopping cart, the "displaycart" page would be shown but the http://ecommerce.com/cart/add?sku=54321 url would be shown in the address bar. It wouldn't seem to be too big of a deal since everything works. But now all the relative links are messed up. They start from the "cart" directory. So we need absolute links. But that introduces many other problems. We then need to know the host and the parent directories (not as easy as it seems).
So is there a solution? Is this a big bug that nobody has realized yet (or maybe they have, but my searches don't see it) in internet explorer? Is there a way for the redirected url to appear in the address bar from a browser-based xslt transformation in internet explorer? By the way, I'm testing with the latest version of IE6.0 as of July 7, 2003.
When testing, redirects work perfect if I do the xslt transformation on the server side and just send plain html to internet explorer. And it works perfect with either serverside or browserside xslt transformations in mozilla.

As I've been reading in the specs, microsoft, etc, it seems that it's not what's supposed to happen. But the specs are not very specific about this. However, internet explorer DOES always replace the url in the address bar with the redirected url if HTML is being returned from the redirected servlet. As is the case with all other browsers. So, at least, this behavior is the de-facto standard.
BUT when the redirected to page is an xml page which references an xslt stylesheet.. then, ONLY in internet explorer, the original url is what's shown in the address bar (and, more importantly, what's used as the base url). Regardless of what the links look like or how they're manipulated in the transformed HTML that ends up being shown, I can't seem to make the url in the address bar the redirected url..

  • Address bar foreign characters translation

when i open a wikipedia article with Chinese or Cyrillic characters in the address bar the ASCII translation gets re-translated from the original language .
for example the Firefox info in Chinese language wikipedia is :
http://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E7%81%AB%E7%8B%90%E7%8B%B8 ( this is the way in Firefox )
http://zh.wikipedia.org/火狐狸 [ the address is shown with Chinese Characters ]
( in Opera browser when copied the above address bar is preserved
the sintaxis in the original language , in this case it is Chinese language )
for example the [ ORANGE ] info in Russian language wikipedia is ( address bar in Firefox ) :
    https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%90%D0%BF%D0%B5%D0%BB%D1%8C%D1%81%D0%B8%D0%BD
for example the [ ORANGE ] info in Russian language wikipedia is ( address bar in Opera ) :
    https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Апельсин
in [ OPERA ] browser the web site address bar keeps the original characters on display !
so when you copy & paste the link of the address from the address bar to share with friends on
social network or by e-mail or bookmark it ... the original address is displayed ( kept in tact ) ,
in Firefox we don't have this privilege ?? !! is there are work around for this problem or anybody
can suggest an add-on utility which can fix it ??
thank you for your ideas or helping fix this problem on Firefox for the future versions & updates.
thumbs up ! great work so far , but fixing this will be a major improvement ,
i remember in some of the previous versions this was not a problem and use to be fine,
i guess with some of the engine updates somebody forget to keep the original cycle ( loop ) of
definition instructions when displaying the address in original language to keep that info when copying and pasting the content of the address bar.

see the article about [[http://kb.mozillazine.org/Network.standard-url.escape-utf8|about preference network.standard-url.escape-utf8.]]
setting it to false will do, what you want.

  • I used to write e.g. "onet" in the address bar and firefox opened page "onet.pl". After reinstalling Windows it only moves me to Google. How can I change it?

    Thank you in advance!

Firefox's address bar ("location bar") has an "autofill" feature based on your history. Once you've visited onet.pl the next time you type onet Firefox should suggest that location by pre-filling it in on the address bar. Is that not working? Does it work for .com sites or not for any sites?
Or if you meant more generally that you want to type a word and have .pl added to the end, then you can change what Firefox does with address bar entries by disabling the search feature. Then Firefox will use a "fixup" procedure instead. This change needs to be made in about:config. Here's how:
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''keyw''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) Double-click the '''keyword.enabled''' preference to switch it from true to false
    (4) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''fix''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (5) If the '''browser.fixup.alternate.suffix''' preference isn't .pl you can double-click to edit it

  • Sometimes the address bar / url field is filled up with weird characters. How can I stop this?

The address bar in Firefox fills sometimes completely with strange characters. There are no letters or numbers, but symbols / icons. Is this a bug or something that I can change? Here you can see how this looks.

Try disabling the RSS Icon 1.0.6 extension. A number of users have reported that extension as causing that type of display.

  • How to change the default BC image that shows in the address bar?

Does anyone know how to change the default BC image that shows in the address bar? I want to swap it out so the client logo shows next to their URL.
    Thank you!

    Hi,
If you are trying to change the favicon for your site,
You can do it from Site Manager-> Page template -> Default Template
Look for the code   <link type="image/x-icon" href="/Path for your image" rel="icon" />, and Click save.
Now where you will use this template, it will display your favicon for that webpage instead of BC favicon. You can define it on Page directly if you are not going to use template.
Please let me know if you have any doubt.

  • How do I change Default search engine in the address bar, not the search window on the top right or by using about:config, doesn't work. Worked fine until this FF 8.0 update, now defaults to Yahoo 7. About to throw it in and use Chrome.

When Firefox 8.0 installed it has automatically changed my address bar default search engine to Yahoo7 which is crap. I can not change this back. So when I start FF it opens to my google home page, when I type a subject and search the results are displayed in a Yahoo 7 results page, not google. I am not talking about my default home page or the search bar to the top right. This is still google.
The settings in about:config do nothing.
This was fine until FF 8.0.

    Thanks dmcritchie,
Nice effort but that answers a different question about fixing the add-on Yahoo toolbar.
Pernich and I want to know; If you type search criteria directly into the address bar and hit enter, how to change that search engine from Yahoo to Google.
Otherwise I too will go back to using Google Chrome, even though I really like FF8.0
    please help

  • How can I change my address bar so it doesn't give me search options?

Recently, I installed a toolbar called Freecorder because I needed to record the audio for something on the internet. Installing this thing also installed some search engine and it changed the default search to something else. I changed it back in about:config, but now when I go to my address bar, I can no longer see most of my saved URLs. I have to click several times to get the drop down box, and when I do, it looks like this: http://i1338.photobucket.com/albums/o698/admiralhip/BRlwXCLCYAEAQjk_zps565a01cd.png
The icons for different websites are next to those weird URLs, and if I click on one it will bring me to the site that the icon is for. I was hoping that someone could tell me what to do to fix this without completely uninstalling firefox or resetting everything to factory default. Thanks.

You may need to reset/modify some prefs that have been changed.
You can do a search in the <b>about:config</b> page.<br />
See also the setting in Options > Privacy for the location bar.
You can use the SearchReset extension to reset some preferences to the default values.
Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the "Firefox > Add-ons" page (about:addons).

  • I can no longer use the address bar to change websites. I can block text with the mouse and input a new URL but when I hit the enter key or left click on the right arrow it has no effect and the page does not change.

Also Ctrl+Enter no longer adds www+.com to words entered in the address bar. I can use bookmarks to change to other web sites or my password manager. Re-booting my laptop makes no difference. Please help.

    Hey CaptRobyn,
Have you tried starting Firefox in Safe Mode? Hold down "shift" while Firefox is starting up. It might be related to an extension. Then you should read [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]].
    Hopefully this helps!

  • When changing "browser.newtab.url" is there any way to prevent the address bar from getting focus?

When I change "browser.newtab.url" to about:home and open a new tab, focus is set to the address bar not the search box on the firefox home page. The same thing happens if i change the url to google.com or another search engine. Is there any way to prevent this from happening.

Custom new Tab has a small bug if the start page is exactly the same as the new tab page. Then the focus of the start page is on the address bar. Just leave the "www." out in the startpage and use "www." in the new tab page then it works perfectly. e.g.
    Startpage: google.com
    new Tab page : www.google.com
Now the focus of the start page is on the search box.

I tried editing my first post but couldn't get there...
If you can open Safari go to the top of your screen, click Safari / Preferences then select the General stab. You can type in the web address for your Home page there.
