Change unknown password on encrypted vol

ok new to me mac username "New Owner" I cant get in with what I thought was the password and the volume is encrypted
so resetpassword shows no volumes .However mount -uw / works as I was looking for a .AppleSetupDirectory to delete
as well some suggested opendirectory.plist daemon which since its not there how do I get this password reset?

Who encrypted the drive? Call the person you bought it from and ask them.

EFS, password change denies access to encrypted data

Hi,
Has anyone had the issue with admin changing users password in Console One
resulting in users not being able to access their encrypted data.
Laptop users are using EFS to encrypt their data.
These users have WinXPPro SP2 and we are running ZfD 6.5SP2.
I have found IR 1 for ZfD 6.5 SP2 which includes TID3003874 "Personal IE
certificates and EFS stop working after password change" however this does
not fix the issue.
Could someone explain in more detail what this fix does as I may have
misunderstood what this fix is.

HT201401 Whenever I download an app, "unknown error." appears and will not let me continue. It also redirects me to change my password even though I'm entering it correctly. What is wrong with it?

I've tried everything from restarting the phone to changing my password multiple times and it still says unknown error. I'm more than a little aggravated.

How do I change the password of an encrypted Sparse Bundle disk image?

I tried to change the password of an encrypted 'Sparse Bundle' disk image but it seems Disk Util doesn't let me choose this type of disk image for the Change Password function (Menu Imgaes->Change Password...)
How am I supposed to change the password? Do I really have to create a new disk image with a new password and copy the old one? (I'm using the 256 bits encryption)

There is no error. Just nothing happens. The problem is a little different for the sparse image and the sparse bundle image. When using the menu command Images->Change Password... you get a file dialog where you must point to the image. The sparse image is selectable (not grayed) but when selected nothing else happens. The sparse bundle image is grayed out in the file dialog so you can't even select it.
Something else. When creating a new blank disk image it shows up in the left pane of the Disk Utility app. But after unmounting the images I'm left with Disk1, Disk2 in this list. Re-mounting doesn't change that. It seems rather useless as you can't do anything with them.
All this happens consistently on multiple Mac's, all with 10.5.2

My email was "compromised" today and batches of unknown data was emailed to hundreds of my contacts. I changed my password. How do I let all contacts know what happened?

My email account was "compromised" today...Apple Support term but I call it a virus. I changed my password but not before batches of messages were sent to my contact list. I don't know the content but imagine it was junk type stuff. Is there a way to inform my entire contact list of this error?

It's not a virus.
You can send a message to a group of your contacts, if you feel that's necessary, as follows.
Open a new message window and write the message. From the Mail menu bar, select
View > Bcc Address Field
if not already selected. Launch the Contacts (OS X 10.8) or Address Book (other versions) application. Drag the group(s) you want to send the message to into the Bcc field of the Mail window. Send.
Note that if you address too many destinations at once, your mail server may reject the mailing as spam.

Changing the password for OIM Database User

We need to change the password of the database user that created and user to run the prepare_xl_db.sh. I changed the <password encrypted="true"> to "false" and modified the password in the xlconfig.xml and restarted the app server but I can't log in. I get the below error. - what else is needed?

During oim installation datasources are created to access the database.
So when you change the password for the database user you have to adjust the password in the datasources.

Unknown parameter name 'ENCRYPTION'

I've made a dmp file using expdp for a table containing encrypted coulums.
But when I tried to use ENCRYPTION parameter to enable encryption of data in dump file sets the command pormpt gives this error:

Password for encrypted backup on Time Capsule never asked

Hello,
My system is Mac OS 10.8.3 on a MacBook Pro.
I do encrypted backups with Time Machine on a Time Capsule.
I wonder why I am never asked the password I chose when encrypting for the first time, especially when I do "Enter Time Machine".
As a comparison, I also have external disks formatted as "Mac OS Extended (Journaled, Encrypted)".
When I connect such an external disk to my laptop, before it is mounted I am asked the password I chose when formatting, which sounds good.

When you originally set up the Time Capsule, you were asked to establish a Time Capsule or Base Station "device" password, which is stored in KeyChain Access on your Mac.
Rather than have to enter the Time Capsule Base Station device password each time that you access the device, KeyChain Access on your Mac remembers the password and enters it for you when your Mac connects to the Time Capsule.
If you do not want KeyChain Access to remember your password, and you do want to be asked to enter the password each time that you connect to the Time Capsule disk, then change the password using AirPort Utility and remove the check mark next to "Remember this password in my keychain" in AirPort Utility. Then, click Update to save the new settings.
It is much easier to let KeyChain Access remember your password on your Mac, but you can do it all manually if you wish. Remember that other users will not be able to access the Time Capsule disk unless you have given the device password to them.

Password for encrypted backup of device

I need help to change the type of encryption for my iPhone and iPad backups in itunes. I have tried all the passwords I ve used in years and have no clue. Somewhere in Support I found an instruction that did not lead to clearing the password. It did send me to backup to iCloud and do a restoere from there. But this is not what I am trying to acheive. I already was backing up to iCloud. If I need to do a restore from a backup in iTunes on my PC I cannot do it because I cannot provide a correct passowrd for the encrypted backup.
Can anyone help me with a solution?

If the user cannot remember the password for the backup, the backup is useless. There is no way to reset or remove the password requirement.
If the user did not enable backup encryption, the backup is corrupt.
In other words, the backup is no good without the password, delete it and move on with life.

When I look at my account, I can see the $20.00 purchase of music volumes that I did not purchase myself and was not uploaded to any of my devices; however, I cannot find a solution to getting my money back or to file a complaint against the unknown person that did this. I had to change my apple ID due to someone else using it and changing the password, so now i can't sign out of icloud as the email is wrong and i dont have the password to turn off find my iphone. Help!

Basically, someone was hacking my apple account for a while and kept changing the password so i kept resetting it, now i've had to change my email as icloud still wouldn't accept my new passwords - even after being updated. Now i can't sign out of icloud due to it being the wrong email and an unknown previous password, as i can't turn off find my phone.ipad. If you mean that Find My Phone is asking for a password to a different Apple ID to your current Apple ID and that ID is a previous version of your current ID, not an entirely different one.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details and some other circumstances.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID using your current password, you don’t need access to this address if it’s previously been used with your Apple ID, once you have saved these details enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone" and delete the account from your device. It may take a short while to remove the account.
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, save it once again and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

Connect the iPod to your syncing computer and restore it via iTunes. However, if iTunes asks for the unknown passcode you need to place the iPod in recovery mode and then restore the iPod from backup. For recovey mode see:

The camera is working fine in the local network.
Open the Internet browser and in the address bar type the IP address of the camera. That will open the setup page of the camera. Click on setup tab and go to ' options '.
You will find ' Alternate Web Access Port '. Enable that option and in the Port number type 1024. Save/Apply the settings.
Now you need to open the port 1024 on your router for the IP address of your camera.
Check the Internet / WAN IP address on your router.
Let's consider the Internet IP address is A.B.C.D ( where A, B, C, D may be any number).
Open the Internet browser and in the address bar type http://A.B.C.D:1024 and you will see your camera on the Internet.
The Internet IP address on your router may change periodically ( depends on ISP)
To use TZO, make sure that your TZO account is setup properly.

Changing security password to no password needed

Hi,
I'm running Mavericks on my laptop and now need to share the computer. It has a security password, but I need to disable that so my spouse doesn't have to learn it. I'm not finding a way to do that. I can only see where I could change the password, but it doesn't allow there to be no password.
I'm sure this can be done, but I'm at a loss to know how. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Don't know what FireVault is or what it does though.
FileVault is "Whole Disk Encryption". Everything on your disk is encrypted, so that if you loose your Mac, unless they have your password, no one can access the data on your disk. They cannot remove your disk to get to it. The only way to get to the data is to access it while you have the Mac unlocked, or by getting you to give them the password.
If you have a SSD, it is also the only way to insure that even when the data is erased it is no longer accessible, do to the nature of an SSD sector replacement algorithms, ware leveling, and replacement for failing sectors.
