  • Impact on roaming profile accounts if we Change User logon Name to Employee Number format in Active Directory for all User accounts

I want to understand if we change User logon Name to Employee Number format in Active Directory for all User accounts, then what would be the impact on existing profile. Whether we need to change it manualy or it will connect to same profiles in terminal
    session.
As i observed it create new profile after logon name changed to employee number where existing users profile settings get fails to load and prompt for new settings (such as outlook reconfiguration, share drive mapping etc.).
Kindly let me know the proper process to overcome with this, how to connect same existing roaming profile with employee number format change.

    Hi,
What if we change the user name of user account, will it have impact on roaming profiles.
Yes, it will affect roaming profiles. Please rename the roaming profile folder as the new user account name, in addition, change the profile path in ADUC.

  • Change user profile

I need to change user profiles in Windows XP and would like to migrate all of my iTunes music, playlists, etc to the new Windows user account.
I considered copying the user profile with Control Panel | System | Advanced | User Profiles Copy To function, but I'm not sure if this will work and don't want to break anything. Is this the way to do what I want or can someone point me to the correct proceedure to do this?
    Thanks, Roy

I suggest consolidating everything to a folder that isn't tied to a user profile.
In XP, everything is stored here by default:
    C:\Documents and Settings\ username \My Documents\My Music\iTunes\ and
    C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music
    See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1660
Consolidate it to something simple, like C:\Media using these directions
    Directions are here - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1364
This will keep your important ratings, play counts, etc if youa lso copy over that important database file (the ITL file).
Then any user on the PC can use it by pressing *and holding* the shift key while starting itunes.

  • Changed user account name and moved to OSX Yosemite. Apps still work, but cannot download new apps or updates.

I recently moved to a new MacBook Air with a physically larger hard drive. I had a coworker move over all of my software and data, and everything seems to be playing nicely. All of the current apps I have in place like Photoshop and Illustrator are working just fine.
Unfortunately when I try to download other apps in Creative Cloud it just shows Download Error. I tried reinstalling Creative Cloud, which did nothing.
I should note that when I moved to the larger machine I changed user account names. Whenever I try to use FileSync, it says it is looking for a folder in the old user account folder. This occurs even after trying to change where that folder is in the Preferences.
Additionally I have updated from Mavericks to Yosemite. I do not know what effect that had.
Any insight how to restore my ability to get downloads and updates? Or perhaps how to fix my FileSync?

I think I have it resolved by uninstalling everything and running the cleaner per these instructions: Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6

  • Changing user profiles activity

    Hi everyone!
Anyone there who can help me on how I can change a user profile by maintaining a SAP_all profile but his access to activity is only "Display"...
    Thanks,
    Bryle

    Hello Bryle,
If I am understanding you correctly, you want to create a user authorization profile similar to SAP_ALL, with the difference being that your new profile should only allow to display everything instead of also being able to change and add things like in SAP_ALL.
As far as I know, the only way to do this requires some manual work:
    1. Create a new role in the profile generator transaction PFCG according to your current naming conventions for role generation, e.g. "Z_DISPLAY_ALL".
    2. Wihtin the "Authorizations" tab, create a profile for the role and save your role. You can also add a description and a transactions menu for the role on the other tabs if you like.
    3. From the same tab open up the profile editor by using either the button "Change Authorization Data" or "Expert Mode for Profile Generation".
    4. If you did not add any transaction to the role menu, a dialog will appear asking you if you want to copy authorizations from one of the listed SAP standard profiles. Normally SAP_ALL is not listed here, so you can just close the dialog.
    5. From the menu, choose "Edit --> Insert Authorization(s) --> From Profile...". You can then just enter "SAP_ALL" in the appearing dialog box. This will copy every authorization object from SAP_ALL into your new profile, keeping SAP_ALL intact.
    6. Check if the organizational levels are all set to the generic value "*".
    7. Take some time and edit the objects in your new profile, so that all activity-related fields are limited to "display" and "display changes" (where available).
    8. Once you are done, save the profile and generate it.
    9. Transport your new role into other systems if necessary.
    10. Assign your new role to the users who need it.
The editing of the new profile really takes a good deal of time because of the huge amount of authorization objects copied from SAP_ALL. I did the same thing and even added everything from SAP_NEW, just to be sure that nothing was missing. At least you can save the profile every time and leave the editor even when you are not finished (without generating the profile).
You should also look very closely at every single object. Most of the time, if there is an activity field (named "ACTVT"), it will use the standard acivities where "03" stands for display and "08" stands for display changes (the values in the technical view of the profile). The activities will normally be limited to the ones which make sense for the relevant object.
However, some objects like F_REGU_BUK and F_REGU_KOA (just to use an example) will not only use a different field name for the activity-related field, but also different values for the acivities themselves. You have to take a closer look at the value list for the activity field or - in a case like the one of the above mentioned objects - at the online documentation for the objects.
Also, some objects can be completely deactivated for a "display only" profile, e.g. F_LFA1_AEN.
As long as SAP doesn't change the basic structure for authorizations, this seems to be the only way to do it...
    Greetings,
    Markus

  • Changing User Folder Names

    Hi Folks.
    I’ll try to be brief.
Just bought a new computer with pre-installed Windows 7 home premium.
I’ve always been a little confused since XP (or was it Vista?) by the three user folders; ‘owner’ ‘default’ and
‘public’ but like most people I’ve got used to it and it doesn’t bother me, I know all my stuff is in
    ‘my’ users folder.
What really really bothers me is that on my new computer the ‘main’ user folder doesn’t bear my name but that of the computer
store where I bought the computer. I’ve tried but can’t change the name.
There is no way that I can live with this computer for the next few years with
‘Joe Bloggs Computers’ being the owner and main man on my computer.
Every time I look for files, download files, transfer files, save files, etc,
its to ‘Joe Bloggs Computers’ that they go.
I’ve changed the ‘computer name’ to mine via computer properties and also changed the ‘Registered Owner’ name to
mine via the registry but the main user folder still bears only the name of ‘Joe Bloggs’.
I’ve played around with folder ownership properties (which I find mega confusing) where ownership and rights belong sometimes to me, sometimes
to Joe Bloggs, and sometimes both to me and Joe Bloggs together.
The hard drive has protected partitions which contain the OS but this problem bothers me so much I’d be willing to reinstall the using the
recovery discs to solve the problem but hopefully you guys find a solution.
    Thanks

I think you should do this -
Change your user account name from Control panel.
At the Control Panel you need to click on user account name.
Click on the Change Name option
    Then
change folder profile and make sure create a new account with administrator
This new account is only needed to change the folder profile name.
To create a new account click Manage Another Account > Create a new Account
Log off your computer and then log in with the newly-created account
Now Open Windows Explorer then navigate to C:\users
Right click on the folder you want to rename and change it to the same name as your new  user profile with which you log
    in to your Windows 7
At this point you have successfully renamed your Windows 7 user folder but to avoid possible error you need to perform a registry
edit. Go to registry editor by typing “Registry” (without quote) in Start Menu. Navigate to the following registry value:
Righ click on the profile list and navigate to  “Find” Menu
Type in your old user in the search box and then hit ‘Find Next”.  Navigate to the “Profile Image Path” located on the
right pane of the registry editor and click twice on it
Edit  the registry value to rename it to your new user profile

  • Lost all files and applications installed after changing user profile in the registry of windows 8.1 pc

The original user profile on my windows 8.1 pc is C:\Apple\acer sm. I tried changing it to C:\Apple\Apple. After I rebooted my PC, I found out that all my files and applications are lost. What shall I do to recover them?
Your help would save my life. Thank you!

    Hi AppleMist,
We wonder if you changed the registry entry or path of user profile.
If you did that in registry please try changing it back.
After changing your user profile and reboot, system won’t read the profile you changed but a new user profile (C:\Apple\acer sm or TEMP) should be created by system. Try renaming this new one as acer sm.old and changing the apple back to acer sm.
It should works fine if you didn’t change file in profile, if it doesn’t work perform a system restore.

  • Windows 7, had to change user profile, lost all my Thunderbird info. please help.

Worm or virus caused me to have to change my user profile in Windows 7. I have everything back looking more or less like it did before this disaster on my computer and I am once again able to get into Internet Explorer but when I go to my Thunderbird email, it is as if I have never used it before and it wants me to set it all back up again. All contacts are gone and all my old emails etc. How can I proceed to try to fix this problem?

I just hope you know what you're doing. How those registry manipulations would eliminate a virus infection is a miracle to me. Having said that, viruses are rare today, being infected with some sort of malware is much more likely.
In any case, this is what we have so far:
The old Windows account is underneath 'C:\users\john'.
The new Windows account is underneath 'C:\users\john.john-pc'.
There is an 'appdata\roaming\thunderbird folder in both Windows accounts.
    Please confirm.
Also, in the 'john' Windows account there is a Thunderbird profile 'C:\users\john\appdata\roaming\thunderbird\wmekpsyz.default'.
It has a date of /1/29/2015. This would indicate it's a rather new profile. Can you confirm this is your old Thunderbird profile? If so, it should contain all your mail.
What Thunderbird profile do you see underneath 'C:\users\john.john-pc\appdata\roaming\thunderbird?
Can you post the contents of the file profiles.ini for both Windows accounts?

  • Change User Function Name

    Hi all,
I'm trying to create menus & responsibilities using data loader so that I don't need to recreate it manually but data loader crashed because some of the user function name are the same.
For example, open Sysadmin -> Application -> Menu -> AP_PAYMENTS_ENTRY_GUI12 in Vision. In Seq. 3 we have Payments menu with AP_APXPAWKB_CHECK_MENU submenu and Payments functions. Tried to search in Functions LOV and we'll get some User Function Name equal to Payments but different Function Name.
I'd tried to change some User Function Name and all the menus that directed to it changed too, the referential integrity worked I think :P but I want to ask whether it will caused any trouble if I changed it in Test & Production environment?
    Thx.

I don't consider those to be "hacks" in my book
They are just bad design approaches:
In the first case, you will loose the audit trail to the caller.
In the second case you will be forced to grant authority to the end user to open a step in another user's context. That will open another backdoor for them as well in SM37 etc...
    > PS: If the real problem is just that you cannot grant the authorization on a certain function module as it is used in different standard applications so the authorization for your program would result in to powerful authorizations in sap standard transactions, the I would copy the function module and use it. This Z fm could be authorized bypassing this problem.
A better option with less coding involved, would be to use SU24. This way you keep the audit trail and isolate the transaction as being an exception to the standard checks for one specific object. An auditor might wonder why a user can release a PO when they don't have one of the required objects, but they will easily find it if they know where to look.
It is also easy to do this in a secure way, such that you can document it for the auditor and give it to them upfront to understand. A good auditor should understand and appreciate that.
If you achieve this programmatically with tricks, you will have a tough time... (as will the auditor).
I have done many audits and also hunted down some dodgey coding in my time. The idea should not be to run away from the auditors, but rather expect that they know what they are talking about and make your design compliant with their and your client's control requirements.
This should be the approach regardless of whether or not you can change sy-uname as a developer.
The original question might also have been: "Can I pass a backdated authority-check against a user who once had the authorizations way back when?" Same thing... bad idea...
    Cheers,
    Julius

  • Can I change user profile of an IPOD but keep all of the music and information stored on it?

A friend updated my IPOD with all of their music with their profile. However, I would like to make changes but keep most of the music that was uploaded.  Can I change the user profile (username and password) of an IPOD but keep all of the music and information stored on it?

Your frend does not have the right/lience to give the music to you. You should delete that music.
If he set up the iPod with his iTunes account you should restore the iPod from a backup of the iPod that should be on your computer. That will delete his music but restore your settings.

  • Problems after changing user folder name

    Hi everybody,
My pc had a problem with the HHD so I needed to send it back to the repair centre. During the reparation the company created a user called 'user'.
Since I had a backup that had to restore data in C:\Users\Andrea I changed the user's name as in this guide http://  superuser.com/questions/495290/how-to-rename-user-folder-in-windows-8 (I followed the step: 'I have
already logged into that account' since that was my situation.)
Now when opening Windows Update (only the desktop version, while the metro version works fine) I got this error
    http://  postimg.org/image/6c6konbhh/
I hope someone has an idea of what's happening.
    Thanks in advance.
P.S. Sorry for the links but I couldn't post links or pictures because the forum says that I am not verified.

Create new user account with administrative privilege and try Windows Update.
If same issue, follow the steps to solve.
Start > Control Panel > System and Security > Administrative tools > Services
Stop the Background Intelligent Transferring Service, Cryptographic Service and Windows Update service.
then goto C:\Windows rename the Software Distribution folder as Software Distribution.OLD
    Reboot the PC.
Now you can try Windows Update.

  • Changing User Profile

    Hello,
Would anybody happen to know how we can change the telephone or fax number in our user profiles? The areas are grey for me and can't be edited. Do I need to contact somebody to do this for me?

    Hi Diana,
Have you tried to change it at accounts.sap.com?  You should be able to edit your personal contact details there.  If you have issues, the alternative is to contact the Customer Interaction Center at http://support.sap.com/call1sap

  • Change user profile when he is alive.

Hi, guys. I have 5 users(2 not very important+3 very very important). And when hard time comes... i need to limit cpu usage of the first 2 to give others to do their job. At the same time i cant't set low cpu usage by default for these two guys... This will be not efficient.
How can I change user's cpu usage on the fly? With out forcing them to login again.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
It is not possible on the fly.
This is statement from concept guide. Ch:20
"If you set resource limits, then a slight degradation in performance occurs when users create sessions. This is because Oracle loads all resource limit data for the user when a user connects to a database."
Which means that all resource limits will not affect the running session, you need to force login once again if you want to change resource parameters.
Also check parameter RESOURCE_LIMIT is to be set to TRUE.

  • Changing user profile attributes via the admin console

    Hi all,
I created my own login module (like the existing Membership module) which
extends the Login class. It works just fine, and can create user profiles
and allow people to log in. When I log into the admin console and try to
bring up the user profile to edit the attributes for this module [Manage
    Domains->(domain)->(role)->Users->(user)->Authentication(authentication
module)] it displays an error stating 'This profile contains no data which
can be administered.' It also does this when I create a user via the admin
console. I know the profile exists (the user can log in, and doing a
'ipsadmin get user (user)' produces the profile). In the login module XML,
all the necessary attributes are set as "userConfigurable=TRUE" with the
right privileges. Looking at the Membership module as a template, I saw it
puts a configuration file in the '/opt/SUNWips/locale' directory which is
used apparently for editing the profiles created by this module. I made a
similar one for my module, but the same error occurs. Does anyone know what
    I am failing to do?
    Thanks,
    Mark

    Hi,
After creating your own Authentication module You have to import your "iwtAuth[NewModule].xml" to the profile server.
You can find a sample file for Membership module
    " iwtAuthMembership.xml" at "/etc/opt/SUNWips/xml".
Modify "iwtAuthMembership " in the above xml file with "iwtAuth[NewModule] "and import the
    "iwtAuth[NewModule] .xml" using
    # ipsadmin -import iwtAuthNewLogin.xml
    and restart the server.
