  • SP-3102 - Unable to make VOIP phone calls after switching router

I had to change the router from Netgear (g) to Belkin N+ (n). Changed the SPA-3102 config to DHCP, it picked up an IP and showed the 1st 3 LEDs lit, status Registered. So, good news.
I am able to receive VOIP phone calls, but not able to make phone calls, it won't dial. I installed slogsrv.exe and got the following log: syslog.514.log. Unfortunately, it's chinese to me.
    Please help,
                Daniel

Try checking any settings on the old router which you might need to configure also on the new router to get VoIP working like port forwarding, dmz or disabling the NAT. The Belkin might have a feature like NAT which behaves differently so you might need to open up VoIP ports or enable NAT mapping and NAT Keep Alive on the SPA.

  • VoIP phones losing connection randomly for a brief moment

So back story here. Just installed two SG200-26 switches (replacing a unmanaged switch) which are connected together via a trunk.
However my SPA921 VoIP phones randomly have the Mic light flash red (which indicates loss of network connection). It happens for a literally a second and reconnects. When pinging the phone you can see a single ping not getting a reply. It also appears randomly on what seems to be most of the phones but not all at the same time, some may be fine while maybe one or two have the issue. It may have it continuously loosing connection for a brief moments for a while then likewise it my be fine for a while or the rest of the day.
Im looking for some ideas for troubleshooting. So far I tried changing the phone ports to static 10M half duplex instead of autosensing and this seems to not have resolved the issue.
    Your help is appreciated.
    Thanks
    Liam

This was one of the ports I was having a problem with, It went down and up becuase I had done a Admin Shutdown on it. However what is it refering to by 'Aggregated'?

  • VoIP phones in public rooms

We have been tasked with deploying VoIP phones in our patient rooms at our hospital. So far we have only deployed them internally. We do use voice vlans for each floor that gets ip phones. We have a Session Border Controller in our DMZ for users that have our IP phones at their homes. A few thoughts have come up about using port security on switch ports to lock down the MAC address on the port. But windows now allows users to change their MAC address without the need for spoofing software. Not to mention the calls we would get at 2:00 am when the staff replaces an ip phone. We could use some kind of ACL on the port but it would always be changing as we deploy more and more ip phones. So we are kind of stuck. Has anyone went through this type of deployment and how did you do it? Maybe an internal SBC? Thoughts???

No need.  Just make sure the PC ports at the back of the phones are disabled or get the phones without the second port.
But this will not stop someone from unplugging the phone.  So you'll need to employ a cable lock, like the following:

Another method you could try to use is make sure that the port where the phones are in public do not have any data VLANs configured.
Trying to hardcode an IP address to a MAC address is not foolproof.  Anyone can spoof a MAC address and coding the values ain't easy.

  • HT5538 Registering a VoIP phone number to Apple ID

I'm using an VoIP based phone on both my iPad mini and my iMac desktop. I DO NOT have a carrier based iPhone number.  So how can I associate my assigned VoIP phone number with iMessage? I can get iMessages using my email Apple ID, but this is way too confusing for other iPhone users who "text" to phone numbers and let iMessage resolve the message path.
In my opinion, Apple needs to either: (1) allow for the verfication & use of non-iPhone numbers in their Apple ID database, or (2) change iOS on the device to allow for the entry of an "Apple ID" into the contact's information.  This "Apple ID" entry could then be used for both iMessage, and FaceTime.

  • Running VOIP phone from shared LAN on iMac 27" running latest OSX Mavericks

Hi, I´ve got a mid 2011 27" iMac which has been updated to the latest version of OSX Mavericks.
I connect to the internet over WIFI from the router and have shared the WIFI internet connection with the ethernet port to connect my Aastra 6730i VOIP phone.
I work from home and I am able to make outgoing calls no problem but cannot receive any incoming calls and the phone displays a "no service" message on the screen.
I do not know if this is a IP configuration issue with the ethernet port on the iMac or if it is to do with the config of the phone itself.
The ethernet is configuring the IP address on the iMac using DHCP and currently gives a self assigned IP of 169.254.xx.xx with a subnet of 255.255.0.0.
The IP address programmed to the phone is 192.168.2.6, subnet of 255.255.255.0, gateway of 192.168.2.1 and primary DNS of 192.168.2.1.
I used to have this working fine and able to make and receive calls without any manual configuration, the only things that changed recently are I updated to the most recent OSX Mavericks (10.9.4) (was running Mavericks 10.9.3 previously) and that we moved house, same iMac, same handset, same LAN cable, just unboxed it all and connectd it all back up same as before.
I am no networking pro and have tried everything I can think of so far, if anyone out there has more experience or knowledge and has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated! (and no running a LAN cable from the router direct to the phone is not an option)
    Thanks in advance

A few days after I originally posted this and I have just solved the problem, nothing to do with the iMac or the VOIP phone.
I figured out that I needed to do some more configuration to the router I received from my new ISP in order to disable a hidden SIP setting hat otherwise prevents VOIP from working properly.

  • WRT54GL & Cisco 7960G VoIP Phone

    Hello fellow Cisco users,
I use a Cisco VoIP phone, the ubiquitous 7960G IP phone, and have no problem using it with non-Cisco routers.  The phone does not seem to work with the Cisco WRT54GL router under the setup I have as explained below.
I usually connect my Cisco IP phone directly to my laptop's ethernet port giving the phone a shared internet connection.  This arrangement works fine with two non-Cisco routers I've used.  With the Cisco WRT54GL router however, the phone cannot get an IP configuration, even after opening the needed ports, leading me to believe the problem is likely to be something with the router.  I have also tried setting up a DMZ for the router without success.  The biggest problem is that the phone uses DHCP (which I also prefer) and the DMZ and port forwarding features require I set the phone's IP address.
I would greatly appreciate any thoughts on how to resolve this.
    Many thanks for suggestions.
PS:  I forgot to add that the phone works (i.e. receive and make calls)  when plugged via ethernet cable into the router.  Apart from the problem of having an ethernet cable running across a room, this setup also has some features missing like date and time so calls aren't stamped.

I think your phone is not getting IP address when it is connected to the computer. But when you connect it directly to the modem, it works.
You can try to upgrade/re-flash the firmware on your router.
Connect the computer with the Ethernet cable to the router.
Download the latest firmware from Linksys website and save it on your computer. Open the setup page of the router. Click on Administration tab and go to Firmware upgrade sub tab. Browse the firmware file that you have already downloaded and upgrade it on your router.
After upgrading the firmware on the router, it is recommended that you should reset the router and reconfigure it. Press and hold the reset button on the router for 30 seconds. Release the reset button and wait for 30 seconds. Power cycle the router and reconfigure it.
Also try to change some advanced wireless settings on the router. Click on Wireless tab and go to Advanced wireless settings. Change the Beacon interval to 75, RTS threshold to 2307 and fragmentation threshold to 2306. Save the settings.

  • BEFSR41 fed from SPA2102 VoIP Phone Adapter with Router

urrently, a broadband cable modem is connected  to the input of a new BEFSR41 4-port router.  The router feeds 4  computers (a newer "primary" PC, and 3 secondary "old goats" that I use  to print online grocery coupons).  The 4 PC's are networked to share a  common printer, a single directory on the "primary" PC, and using a  4-port KVM switch - I switch a single keyboard and mouse to whichever PC  that I am using at the time.
I  want to purchase a Linksys SPA2102 VoIP Phone Adapter with Router and  integrate it into my existing system (noted above).  This is probably a  no-brainier for some, but I am new to routers and VoIP and that is why I  am posting here, before buying the SPA2102.
According  to the SPA2102 instruction manual that I downloaded from the Cisco  website, there are two RJ45 connectors, one YELLOW and the other BLUE  with the following typical connection configurations:
YELLOW  . . . Connect one end of an Ethernet network cable (included) to the  ETHERNET port of the Phone Adapter.  Connect the other end to the  Ethernet port of your PC.
BLUE . . . Connect one end of a different  Ethernet network cable to the INTERNET port of the Phone Adapter.   Connect the other end to your cable/DSL modem.
What  I would like to do is, hopefully, simple and effective.  I want to  connect my cable modem to the SPA2102's BLUE connector, and from its  YELLOW connector connect to the BEFSR41's input.  Will this work,  ensuring both the BEFSR41 and SPA2102 function properly?
    Thank you.

if you have access to the device and it is not remotely provisioned by the VOIP company. try to change the registration expires to a 24 hour time period as well as well as the Resync Periodic: in the provisioning tab to 24 hours as well.

  • My daughter has just changed her phone from an iphone to a nokia but when i send her a message it still comes up as an i message and she doesnt receive it?

my daughter has changed her phone from an iphone to a nokia but kept the same number but when i send her a message from my iphone it still comes up as an i messsage and she doesnt receive it can anybody tell me how to fix this please

She needs to remove that device from the iMessage database, or if she still has the phone, she can go into Settings, Messages and turn off iMessage. If she still has the phone, she just needs to put the SIM back in for a couple of minutes to turn that off.
If she does not have the phone any more, she will need to go to her Support Profile, if she registered the phone and delete the phone from the profile.

  • I currently have Imessage turned off on my phone since there is no blocking feature on the Iphone 4.  If I change my phone number and turn on Imessage, how do I make sure I won't get Messages from person I have blocked?

I have the Iphone 4 but before this I had a different phone and had blocked someone from contacting me via calls/texts.  Unbeknownst to me, when I got the Iphone 4, that I cannot block Imessages.   I have turned off Imessage for the time being but I'm seriously considering changing my phone number.  If I change the number with my carrier and turn Imessage back on,  what do I have to do to ensure that any previous messages don't come through and any future messages cannot be sent?

  • HT1918 I am unable to locate where to change the phone number that is associated with my itunes account.

I am unable to locate where to change the phone number that is associated with my itunes account.  I have a new number and the old number is no longer accessible by me.  I've logged into my iTunes acct and it seems I can only change my appleID itself, my billing address info, and password and things like that.  I cannot find where to remove a number and add a new one.  I've gone to my mobile devices (iphone, ipad) as well as my mac and I'm getting a bit frustrated with it.  I'm sure there's a simple solution and I'm just missing it.  Going to settings>messages>send&receive....there is the old number and no option to make a correction.  I've unchecked it but why can't I add the new number?  On my iphone the ONLY option that shows up is my current number but when I set up my new ipad I have the issue described here.  I want this number completely removed from my account there has to be a way to get it out of the system.
Also when going to settings>facetime>you can be reached at:  shows email addresses as well as the OLD phone number with no option to make the correction, remove the incorrect number, or add a new number.  I figured this was tied in to my appleID since thats when it showed up (right when I signed in on my ipad).  So I went to itunes on my mac and went to my account and there I find AppleID Summary, itunes in the cloud, purchase history, and settings.  I've gone through each of those and am still unable to figure out where to change it.  Somebody PLEASE tell me where to find this data so I can change it.  I've seen multiple inquiries about this all over the internet but everyone's solution is to do exactly what I've already done.  No resolution to the real issue.

Apple will have it, but if there is ever a question/problem, the store that you made the exchange at will have it on record.
But if you're worried about it call 800-APL-CARE and see if they have it.
