Change WEBLOC ICONS to show Web ICONS visited

On the last update for Yosemite, all my web icons which I dragged from my address bar to desktop, now show the name WEBLOC instead of  the web address Icon shown as before.  My wifes new apple does the same thing.  How can we get this stopped and when we drag an address from
the address bar to desktop, it will show the web icon visiting and saving to desktop. Would like it to do it automaticaly ,like it did before this update??

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in Full Screen mode with all toolbars hidden.
* Press F11 to toggle full screen mode (Firefox/File > Full Screen)
If the menu bar is hidden then press the F10 key or hold down the Alt key, that should make the menu bar appear.
Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"
* If items are missing then open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout" (Linux, Windows)
* If a missing item is in the toolbar palette then drag it back from the Customize window on the toolbar
* If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up.

  • Changing the icon for saved Web links.

Im trying out different forum topics to see if anyone can help and I thought this would be a cool thing to do and might be doable with an applescript.
I save a lot of web address as files to go back to later and I find the default @ icon for firefox or the blank icon for safari pretty appalling. I was wondering if there was a way to change the icon so that when ever I save a new link file it would use the new icon. I was thinking about just an icon that has the Firefox, safari, chrome logo would be good or even better a little picture preview of the web page its self. Any help on this little idea I have is very appreciated
I really like the idea of a page preview for weblink files. Like this ( http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a238/Nuclearanthrax/Screenshot2010-09-02at1021 41PM.png )
I completely understand a straight up no answer to this. I have no idea how applescript works. I have used it very few times.

    Pierre,
I tried this AppleScript but it was not working. Is there something that I need to check.
I had a few web link files in a folder and the script RAN the INFO window popped up but nothing changed.
This would be a valuable tool for me an my students,
    Thanks in advance

The following script should do part of what you are asking for. However, since it uses [GUI Scripting|http://www.macosxautomation.com/applescript/uiscripting/index.html], you must first enable the Accessibility Frameworks by clicking the checkbox labeled "Enable access for assistive devices" in the Universal Access System Preference pane.
Just copy and paste the script into the AppleScript Editor window and click the Run button.

  • BEx Analyzer Not showing report result in canceling "Change variable Icon"

    Hi Experts,
Do we have any settings in BEx Analyzer for retrive the Result set even after I click 'Change variable Icon' in Toolbar and cancel the variable pop-up window??
Eg: My query Result is displayed in Analyzer selecting some vaues in Selection screen. And when I click the Change Variable Icon from 'Analyzer Toolbar' its showing me 'Select values for variable' window. If I select the cancel button in it, then Query result becom blank showing the message "There are variables; change variable values". Do Analyzer having an option or settings to keep the result even if i cancel the variable selection from "change variable icon".
    Thanx in advance..

    Sari-
If SAP provides such a function, I have not found it. The way I understand it., the change variable value initiates the OLAP back end. This clears the Presentation Manager front end, and clears the 'results' that are displayed on your workbook. If you cancel the OLAP run, the front end clear still executes.
HOWEVER... if you turn OFF Automatic Refresh before clicking on Change Variable Values and then clicking on Cancel, the presentation manager will not write any changes to your workbook. So that is your best solution.

  • Firefox does not show web page graphics or icons, mostly blanks or boxes with type.

With one of the recent updates, Firefox shows web pages without the clickable graphics, such as this page (Ask a New Question) where above the details box, there are only two vertical lines. I know there should be something in those spaces, cause when I click in them something happens - like a dialogue box pops up or a word gets inserted into this typing. This is consistent on all web pages. Major photos show, just not the little graphics. Icons or graphics that are visible sometimes are offset (ex: this page has an arrow in a green box over lapping the outline of the Search Firefox Help box). Other than that, this page has only two other graphics, it's all type. Thanks.

Make sure that you allow pages to choose their colors and that you haven't enabled High Contrast in the Accessibility settings.

  • Why can't I change the icon of my file folders?

I'm trying to follow these directions (pasted below) that I found in Finder Help, but can't do Step 3. There is no icon in the info window that I can select. Can you please help? I have some folders for which it would be extremely helpful to show an image from their contents rather than the generic blue folder.
    Thank you so much!
To use your own picture or a picture from the web:
Copy the picture you want to use to the Clipboard. One way to do this is to open the picture in Preview, choose Edit > Select All, and then choose Edit > Copy.
Select the file or folder whose icon you want to replace and choose File > Get Info.
At the top of the Info window, click the picture of the icon to select it, and then choose Edit > Paste.

Thank you SO much! Funny thing, I didn't even notice the tiny folder icon at the top of the info window until I saw it in the screen shot at the beginning of that article.
See, I have begun changing the icons of the folders of digital scrapbooking alphabets I have (screenshot below). Now it will be so much easier to scroll through my hundreds of alphas and choose one, because I can SEE them without going in and out of each folder.
    A million thank yous!!!!!

  • Change the @ icon

I would like to be able to change the @ icon in the dock - can anyone suggest how? I really want to do it for 10.3.9, but I'm interested in a solution for 10.4.5 too (I use both).
The long story: I've got two @ icons in the dock linking to different web pages, and I would like to make them look different. They've got different text labels when you hover the mouse, but I need different icons (its for my 3 year old!!).
    Cheers for any suggestions.
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

If you drag a URL from the browser address bar to the Dock, the Dock recognizes it as web location, and knows it is supposed to assign the custom @ spring icon. There's only one, and there is no way to assign different icons to different addresses.
What you can do instead is drag the URL from the browser to the Desktop (or other convenient location). Now do GetInfo on the the webloc file and paste in a new custom icon. Once you have different icons assigned you can then drag the webloc file to the Dock. The original webloc file remains wherever you stashed it, it has a custom icon in the Dock, and goes to the address when clicked.

  • How I change the icon for iTunes songs?

When I drag iTunes songs onto my desktop the icon is white with a gray iTunes icon. How can change this icon for all of my iTunes songs?

Thanks Patrick. I used Control-Click on the actual audio file on my desktop opened the Show View Options menu and turned off the icon preview option. That changed my icons from gray with a white background to red with a white background which is exactly what I wanted.  You pointed me in the right direction. Appreciate it.

  • Change .pdf icons to generic icon instead of preview image

How can I change the icon of a .pdf on the desktop to the more generic red and white Adobe logo instead of the little preview picture? With the old-style icon it's easy to determine what's a .pdf - with everything a little preview now (which is too small to tell anything, at least for me) I have to actually read the file name to see what type of file it is.
Not the end of the world but it would be nice to change.
    thanks

What app do you want your PDF files to open with when they are double-clicked?
If you click on the Desktop, type Command-J, and in the Desktop's view-options window uncheck the box for "Show icon preview," you will convert all the Desktop icons to whatever image the default "Open with" app has provided. If you have set Adobe Reader as the default app for PDF files, the icon will look like this:
If you have set Preview as the default app, the icon will look like this:
I don't know of an automatic way to have PDF files display an Adobe icon and still have them open in Preview when double-clicked.

  • When I click on a link in an RSS feed it used to indicate that I'd viewed that particular link by changing the icon to the left of the link. It doesn't do that anymore. [SOLVED]

When I click on a link in an RSS feed it used to indicate that I'd viewed that particular link by changing the icon to the left of the link. It doesn't do that anymore. This started happening right around the time I updated to Firefox 4, but may have been a little before that too. For some things, like news and web comics it's just a little annoying. For important things like looking for new journal articles for my job, it literally makes my job more difficult. So fixing this would make my day.

I seem to have solved my own problem. When I disabled the add-on "Tab Renamizer" everything started working fine.

  • How to change the icon for print dialog?

    Hello,
I have a JTable, and with the print() method, I'm able to bring up the Print dialog and successfully print the contents of the table. Example:
myTable.print( JTable.PrintMode.FIT_WIDTH, myHeaderFormat, myFooterFormat );This works great, but one small detail I'd like to change is the icon in the top-left corner of the dialog. The icon is currently the default Java coffee cup icon, while the rest of my application uses my custom icon. I couldn't find any documentation in the API or tutorials that Java has listed which shows how to change the icon, so I'm not even sure if it's possible (but why shouldn't it be?).
My question is this: Is it possible to change the default icon in the print dialog? Or do I have to either make my own print dialog somehow, or use a third-party print dialog?
    Thanks

tjacobs01: Appreciate the assistance (despite your sass). I've already searched the API, tutorials, and this forum. I'm already well aware of the setIconImage() method for JFrame -- after all, that's how I set the icon for my other frames as I previously mentioned. However, I want to set the icon for the print dialog called from the print() method of JTable.
How would I use setIconImage() for the print() method of JTable? The print() method returns a boolean value, not a JFrame, so I'm just not sure how to implement what you're saying.
    Thanks

  • Change an Icon in the Dock?

Is there a way to change the icon of a program in the dock? More specifically, I'd like to change the icon of my Intel Mac Firefox build to the actual Firefox icon (to make it easy on other people who may use my compture and because it looks cool :D). Thanks for any help!

The easiest way would be to open up both Firefox.apps content folders by selecting Show Package Contents from the Finder contextual menu.
Then replace the Firefox.app/Contents/Resources/firefox.icns file from your Intel build with the file from the "actual" Firefox app ensuring that the filename is the same.
Just to test it, I replaced the Firefox icon with the Realplayer icon and it worked perfectly for the Dock. If you want to then change the Finder icon as well, you can do the regular method of copy/pasting via the Get Info windows
EDIT: Actually, Firefox (1.5.0.4) is Universal, so I'm not sure why you would need or have two different versions.

  • Changing PDF Icons

I am having some trouble managing PDF file icons... I am hoping someone here can help. I am running Leopard; everything up to date.
I downloaded several books in PDF format. I now want to change the icons of each PDF file to match the front cover of said books. So I click on the file, get info, click on the icon on the top left, and paste the image. Everything seems to be fine on the get info screen; the icon on the top left changes to the respective image.
I then close get info and look at the Finder window containing the PDF files. This is where the problem begins. In cover flow mode, some of the images are simply not there, or they will appear and disappear if I resize the window, or click through the preview. The icons are all correct on the bottom file listing in this mode. Looking at the icon mode, some of the icons will have changed while others will not. I primarily use the icon or coverflow modes in finder which is why this is a problem.
I cannot detect any pattern in this behavior; some icons behave normally, most do not. All of the said images are PNG. Preview is my default PDF viewer. I am willing to do away with the "preview" function (where you can click through the PDF document within finder) in coverflow mode... it is useless anyway and I feel as if this is the actual problem. I can't seem to find a relevant set of preferences/settings, however.
Am I missing something? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Whether this is your problem or not, I don't know. But there is a bug in pasting icons where the icons won't show up in Cover Flow if the source png file for the icon was opened and copied out of Preview, and is of a largish size. Don't remember what the upper limit is, but I think is is 256 pixels max dimension. Any way, I just tried one using 500 pix max, and it doesn't show up, while 200 pix does.

  • Finder questions (changing file icons, moving files, home/e)

    Hello all!
I got my 17" Intel iMac just two days ago. Gorgeous machine, feeling very comfortable. I switched from Linux and there are a few things I can't figure out on my own, I'd appreciate if someone anmswers these simple questions.
    1. How can I change the icon which represents a certain file type?
    2. How can I "move" the files from a, say, removable drive to my local drive? When I drag the files it shows "+" in a circle and copies the card. But i want to move the files from it, not copy. Command+X and Command+V don't work.
    3. I am used to that home/end buttons bring to the beginning/end of a line, but in OS X they bring to the top/bottom of the page. Makes editing documents very hard. Is there a way to change it?
    Thanks in advance,
    Artemiy.

PHP and CSS files are associated with XCode but the icon is plain whiteOK, I can see the problem. I just created a small file of each type, and both acquired the TextWrangler icon. I then changed the .php to "Open with" Xcode, but this did not change the icon. The only way I could change it was to select another editor (SubEthaEdit) – so you may want to experiment here. Of course, it would then be a pain to have to know two editors!
How do you move the files from a removable drive to HDDI don't do this that often, but if I had a lot I would be inclined to put them in a folder and move that.
Well, this happens everywhere actually.Probably for GUI editors, since they would use the same OS text-handling features. But sometimes an editor will have extra controls.

  • Changing multiple icons?

    Hi,
Is there a way I can change multiple icons of folders, subfolders and their content?
I have all my music on an ext. HD, with it organised into artists>album>songs and a similar setup on another HD for video files with organisation being TV show>season>episodes. I would like all audio files and folders to have the same icon and all video files and folders the same as well.
Is there anyway I can do this without the labour intensive task of opening each folder, going ot the the "Get Inf" for each file or folder within it and pasting my preferred icon??
    Thanks
    E

You can do it with just the OS.
First, copy the icon you want to use to the Clipbioard (Command-C).
Then open a folder containing files which you want to change. Slect all the ones you want to have the icon on the Clipboard; if it's all the ones in the folder, just press Command A.
Then press Command-I (Get Info) without clicking on one of the selected files. A single Get Info window will open, showing the number of files selected as the 'name'.
Click the icon at the top of that Get Info window, press Command-V (Paste), and in a few seconds all the selected files will display the same icon, the one you had copied to the Clipboard.
Folder icons - I would do those individually, unless you have hundreds. You can, of course, experiment with the same technique with a bunch of those.
