Changed apple ID - Can't update apps
Help! I changed my apple id bc my last name changed. When I try to update the apps i had purchased with my old id my old apple ID pops up and it wants a password. I entered previous pw and new one but no lUck. Technically the old ID was changed so it doesn't exist.....anyone else experience this? What do I do? I have over 65 updates.
If you updated the old account id as opposed to creating a new account then try logging out of the account by tapping on in Settings > Store and then log back with the updated version and see if that refreshes the account on the iPad.
If you created a new account then you will to continue to use the old account to update and re-download its purchases and downloads.

When I go to the App store I am able to sign in to the welcome section under quick links.
But when I want to download updates for apps under updates ( Imovie etc )...in the app store, it will prompt me to sign in to the app store again...I can't because the email address is non-writeable.

Downloading apps is fine, but I can't update them because of the incorrect email in Apple ID box.

Changing country. Can't update apps via iTunes
Have strange issue with my iTunes. After changing country form Russia to Ukraine my iTunes only searches and displays the number of updates. But when I want to update it and clicking on "update apps" iTunes says "No updates are currently available. To check for updates for another APPLE ID, sign in whit that Apple ID."
But at the same time my iPhone successfully searches and updates all apps for the same Apple ID, and then transfers it while sync with iTunes. What is the problem with my iTunes?The solution:
Delete all your apps in itunes you have purchased in previous country
Reinstall it -

I went to update apps and when the pop up came up there was a different ID there and I can't update.
You can logout of the account via Settings > Store and touching the account id on the right-hand side, and then logging in with the correct it - you can also do it via the bottom of the Featured tab in the App Store tab.

Changed email address in Apple id, can't update apps

I recently changed the email address associated with my Apple ID, so now I sign in to the iTunes store with the new email address. iTunes shows me in the Library that there are a bunch of app updates available. However, when I click on the arrow next to the '16 updates available' link, it takes me to the store view which informs me 'No updates are currently available. To check updates for another account, sign in with that account.' I don't have another account and I think this is happening because I changed the email address. Is there a way to clear this up, i.e. get the store to recognize the new email address with the old account info and apps?
Thanks very much!Try changing your e-mail address back to see it iTunes is working properly. If that doesn't work, then at least you know you have a serious problem with the Apple Store.

My iPod touch was stolen and recovered. I can use my Apple id for this site but the theif changed the Apple id needed to update apps etc and I do not know how to delete his acct. Any help with this will be greatly appreciate
If the thief enabled activation lock on the device, then there is nothing that can be done. Only the password for the Apple ID that it is locked with can disable activation lock.

I changed my Apple ID and now can't update Apps or sign in to Icloud as I'm asked for my Old Apple ID password which is no longer used.

Welcome to the Apple Support Community!
It sounds like your Apple ID is used for both the iTunes & App Stores and iCloud. If you edited that Apple ID before signing out of the iCloud on your devices, it may be necessary to edit the Apple ID back to the original email account so that you can sign out of iCloud. Once signed out, you can edit the Apple ID back to the new email account and sign back in. Please use the attached article for further information.
If you're asked for the password to your previous Apple ID when signing out of iCloud
Change your Apple ID temporarily
If signing out and back in to iMessage or FaceTime didn't help, try these steps:
Change your Apple ID to the Apple ID you used previously. You shouldn't need to verify the email address.
Tap Settings > iCloud. Complete these steps only if the Find My [Device] setting is turned on:
Scroll down and tap Sign Out, then tap Sign Out to confirm. If you're using iOS 7 or earlier, tap Delete Account, then tap Delete to confirm.
Tap Keep on My [Device] or Delete from My [Device]. In either case, your data remains in iCloud and will be updated on your device when you sign in to iCloud again.
Enter the password for your previous Apple ID.
Change your Apple ID to the new email address that you want to use. You'll need to verify the email address.
Return to Settings > iCloud and sign in with your new Apple ID.

Apps store on my iPad shows different apple ID. I changed the ID under general settings for apps store, but it didn't help. Still see different ID when entering the store. Now I can't update apps and resetting iPad doesn't help. What to do?

This is really annoying. . . I go to update my apps in my iPad & iPhone but when I go "Update All" it asks me to sign in with my old Apple ID (that email address no longer exists). Even if I put in the old password associated with that old ID it tells me I need to verify that Apple ID and that an email has been sent to that old email address (that no longer exists!). It's crazy as I have not used that address for years and two years ago I associated that old ID with my new email address, but I couldn't change my Apple ID to reflect my new email address so it just kept the old address but my receipts were being sent to the new email address. .. confusing, but it worked. Now I have a @me.com address and an Apple ID that utilises my @me.com account, but even when I sign out of iTunes/App Store and sign back in with my new Apple ID, I cannot update apps. . . I appreciate exactly where you're coming from. I've been fighting a similar battle for some six months now and I've finally given up. The problem is that, contrary to the semantics on the Apple ID management page, your up-to-date email address is not the primary address. The ID name is the primary address and what's alleged to be primary is actually secondary. I learned this the hard way when I was trying to fix an issue with a very old ID that did NOT have an email address as a name. I changed to to reflect the (old) address and I made matters worse and I can't go back!
In my case, I have a whole slew of free apps on the old ID and maybe US$40 or US$50 worth of paid apps. Little by little I'm deleting the free apps and obtaining them again with the current ID. When I finish that, I'll probably bite the bullet and pay again for the other apps. -

Before you make an apple ID with the new email, go to appleid.apple.com. login with your old email and password. change your old email to your new one. Now you can use your new email as your apple id, but beware if you go through the process of creating a new appleid with your new email address you will not be able to attach your old account to your new email.

I can't update apps on iPhone because of an old Apple ID.

the apps store. Any ideas?First, you are digging up a thread that has been dead for almost a year. So you have no idea what the context of the ASC was at that time and what folks were posting over and over here.
Secondly if you spend just a little time on the ASC you will quickly learn that folks make random Apple ID accounts all of the time.
As far as the exact situation which you mention, you can change the primary email account associated with an Apple ID, without changing the ID, which is why I have an @mac.com Apple ID that uses an @gmail.com email address. And it was for the very reason you mention, I got the @mac.com account (accounts which pre-date @me.com by a number of years) for a free trial, but didn't feel that I wanted to pay $100 a year to use it after the trial period ended, but I had used the account during the trial to acquire a lot of Apple content that I did not wish to loose. -

As long as you didn't create a new ID and merely changed the email address that you use for your Apple ID - go to Settings>iTunes and App Store. Tap your old ID and sign out. Then sign in with the changed ID.
If you created a new ID, you need to continue to use the old ID in order to update apps since purchases are always tied to the ID used to make the purchase. -
I can't update apps on my iphone 5. theirs an old apple ID. That I don't have the pass word. I've created a new apple ID. but the old one keeps popping up. I have it on the Itunes on the phone but the old one keeps comming up and asking for a pass word.
Apps are permanently tied to the Apple ID used to purchase them. You will have to delete the apps from the phone and re-purchase them using your Apple ID.

can't update apps on my iPhone 4s cos it says my daughter's Apple ID password is required: even though I'm signed in via my Apple ID in settings (she uses my Mac for her itunes and didn't sign out, i synced my phone and it's been like this ever since). And there's no option of signing her out, it seems? GRRRRR!
