Changed emails and forgot icloud Password

My family recently changed emails from Earthlink to Gmail and my Icloud account is now not letting me change emails. I seem to have forgotten my password for the icloud and every time I try to reset the password through security questions I end up resetting my Apple ID password. Is there a way I can change my main icloud email to my gmail email? Or should I just start a new icloud.

You can change your ID as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5621. After doing so, you will need to sign out, then back in with the new ID on all of the services you are using it for. For iCloud, you will need to delete the iCloud account, then sign back in. Be sure to save you photo stream photos to your camera roll before deleting the account.

You'll need to reset the password that account then before you can transfer these purchases to your iTunes library and your iPhone.

If that doesn't work, you'll need to contact Apple support directly by phone and have them walk you through resetting the account information.

Make sure you are signed into iMessage and FaceTime with your current ID. If they are signed into the old ID, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and Settings>FaceTime, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with your current ID.
Then temporarily recreate the old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. (You should not have to verify the old email account so it doesn’t matter if you no longer have access to it.) Now go to Settings>iCloud, turn off Find My iDevice and enter your current password when prompted (even though it prompts you for the password for your old ID). Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Sign Out (or Delete Account if you are not running iOS 8) and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign back in with your current iCloud ID and password (your data will download back to your device).

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; this can be done by phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, or clicking here and picking a method, or if your country isn't listed in either article, filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

I'm sorry, but I know nothing about iCloud email. I stayed away from iCloud email and only use iCloud for limited purposes.

Because I can't delete the icloud account, I keep getting view terms to accept and it wants to go to the old company account. I can't do anything to get rid of this - when I try to delete the icloud it wants me to delete find my ipad and asks for the old co. id and password - it's a vicious circle and i just want to get rid of it and start fresh with my regular personal email id and password!!! Help!

You will need that old Apple ID and password, which does indeed still exist. Apple doesn't delete Apple IDs, though if this ID was in the control of your company they may have changed the password. If so, you will need your former company to log into the iCloud account using that ID and password and erase the iPad or remove it from iCloud:

Until that's done you cannot change those settings, and if you try to restore the iPad will have it locked with Activation Lock and thereafter be unusable.

Hi Tiffany. I duplicated this my self and I was able to set up yahoo mail on a 3gs, it should be the same. Can you verify if you are online like browsing a website just to check the internet connectivity?
