Changed font in desktop and safari

Hi, I found the following changes in the font in desktop. The font that is used for showing the size of volume, file or folder etc has gotten changed to something ugly.

also, some fonts on safari seem to have changed. Other users on my machine seem to have the leopard defaults. Where can i change the font to the default again?

I validated all the fonts but still no change. I used font smoothing for sizes below 4 point and it improved visibility.

Theme Font & Size Changer can adjust the size of the type Firefox uses in the toolbar area.
NoSquint remembers per site web page zoom levels and you can set a minimum size for all web pages so any site you visit is made bigger automatically. Safari doesn't do this.

Note: Firefox is highly customizable browser, and I added the green with the yellow type, you won't see that when you first start using it.
It did that to match my desktop picture, grey is depresssing.

You can't in Safari.
However you CAN with Firefox and the add-on called Theme Font & Size Changer, also include NoSquint and set a global web page zoom level a bit higher, say 150%.
NoSquint has buttons on the tool bar to increase/decrease each websites size AND IT REMEMBERS IT!
Under the Tools Menu > Customize you can add more toolbars as well, but they have to have something in it of course.
(note: the green with yellow type is a person you can add from thousands of choices, it's not the default look of Firefox)
So this setup, although it may appear large here compared to Safari, is fine on my 17" when sitting back about 3-4 feet, takes up about 1/6th of the screen, so I'm not hunched up close, and I have a lot of screen real estate to play with anyway.

Is it not possible to create a text box, fill it with dynamic (data driven) text, but make the font size either scale up or down automatically, so that the entire text box is filled? This is a feature in PrintShop Mail Pro called COPY FIT. but no such feature in Indesign??

lol... it seems to work, but I have another huge problem!
Apparently .CSV files cannot contain page breaks in the data! The data I am trying to merge is a 'letter', with paragraphs, line breaks, etc.,
But, after data merging, it ignores page breaks and only merges the first paragraph of each letter. (sigh)
Solution? Hopefully, an EASY solution. lol as we have thousands of records.
Is there a third party indesign plugin that will allow .xml, or .xls data merge import??

In the HEAD of each web page, include regular old embedded
STYLE tags,
but INCLUDE an external PHP file:

Now in that included PHP file, just have CSS code which pulls

dynamic data. Here's an example snippet:

Distorted desktop and safari menu

My desktop , all photos, and safari menu are distorted.
I have reset desktop image and it is fine. Then shortly it is as if everything was giant sized and blurry.
Shut down and re open helped a few times but no longer does. Fonts in Mail and articles on Safari are fine but an image is blurry with lines through it as though it was enlarged over and over and over, Tried changed number of colors; screen size. Am at a loss AND AM NOT A VERY TECH PERSON.

I just installed Solaris10 and JDS3 on my standalone SPARC machine. I see that two new directories are created, ${HOME}/Desktop/ and ${HOME}/Documents/. I want to change these defaults to hidden directories, ${HOME}/.Desktop/ and ${HOME}/.Documents/, but I cannot find the configuration file under ${HOME} or any other root-accessible directory to change these defaults?
I also cannot seem to get rid of some small "language" windows that come up, e.g., with lines like [English/European]. Are these part of xterm windows?

AFAIK there's currently no way to configure these... and if you just try to delete or rename them, they'll be recreated the next time you log in. I'm afraid you'll probably just have to live with them until we (and/or the GNOME community) address this in a future release.

These are part of the input method framework, to show you which input method is active for the current window. IIRC, they will disappear if you add the input method switcher applet to your panel, or you log in using the C locale. On Linux, as a last resort you can also just uninstall the GNOME input method packages, not sure off-hand which package(s) these correspond to on Solaris though.

Help with dock, desktop, and safari reseting

For some reason the last time i shut my 20 inch imac down, it wouldnt shut off completely, so i held down the power button to shut it off. The next time i started up my dock, the desktop, and my safari settings all reset, does anyone have an idea of what could have happened?

Similar Problem with MacPro. Freeze up while logging out of non-admin account <force quit using power button <restart resulted in ano-admin account reconfigured and could not acces mail or reconfigure via Preferences (e.g., dock, desktop background, etc. The Administrator account was not effected.
FIX that worked: after much fiddling appeared that Permissions was problem. So- went to Mac HD (startup volume) <users <non-admin account < reset permissions using [command] and set permissions (Ownership & Permissions < Details (for both Owner and Group) to allow read & write ppermissions. Now it appears all is well. For some reason the freeze-shutdown glitch had reset the Ownership & Permissions to "system" and "no access allowed".

Changing font under desktop icons

Something kind of screwy has been going on with the font under my desktop icons for a while now. It's totally different from the font that the rest of my system uses. I'm not entirely sure what font it is, but it looks a lot like the font that terminal uses. It's white and outlined in black when I don't use a color label, and then turns really skinny and black when I do use a color label. Is there any way to revert back to the original font? Thanks.

If you mean Font Finagler, then no, that won't change your fonts. David was saying his fonts weren't displaying properly, which Font Finagler may fix by removing corrupt font cache files.
It sounds like you want to actually change the fonts the system uses for its display. The only haxie I know of that can do that is Silk.

Hello all, I am using Crystal Reports v10 and I created my report. The report works fine and the export function works fine in some particular servers. We were developing under Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 using Visual Studio 2005 Service Pack 1. We created the deployment and in our testing servers works fine (Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP these machines doesn't have any development tool).
When we installed the same deployment (MSI) file in the customer Windows Server 2003, the exporting function to PDF or using it the Crystal Reports viewer doesn't work (Same worng thing that is displayed in the viewer is in the PDF). We had detected labels cut in the middle, some fields changed the font size or alignment and some lines move it up, down or growing. Obviously this looks like a environment problem, but we don't have any idea how to fix it, or what is missed.
We tried to install, Windows Service Pack 2, install Acrobat Reader v8, verified the dll's, try to install the "dbex10win_en.zip" hot fix (we were not able to install it, setup file fail due some registry inconsistencies), Validate that the fonts are the same, and nothing fix the problem.
Could somebody help us, we are a little desperate.

1) Ensure you are using the latest Service Pack as suggested by Jonathan
2) See what USP10.dll is loading (use the [Modules|https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100006252802008E/modules.zip] utility)
Also, if this is a win app, compile it to an exe and run the exe to see if the issue persists. (when running the app exe, the USP10 loaded should be from the CR bin directory. when running ion the .NET environment, the USP10 will load from win\system or other)

Can I change fonts ? (size and/or style)

I have just got a printer for the first time (with my iMac). I can't see how to adjust/choose a font style or size if ,for instance I want to print off an email i receive.
Any advice would be welcome,thank you loons

For emails (and all documents) you can just make the fonts bigger before printing by Command-"+".
You can also change the scale % under File> Page Setup which will adjust the document you are printing. Use that with a combination of Print Preview to get exactly the size you want.

Changing fonts in paragraph and character styles (AppleScript, Grep or JavaScript)

I have been trying the javascripts in this discussion:

but I cannot get any of them to work. I have been putting them into CodeRunner then saving them into the InDesign Scripts folder but I have specific error messages for the ones I have tried. I am wondering if they actually solve my problem anyway, which is:
Helvetica Neue LT seems to add another LT to its description thus: "Helvetica Neue LT LT 45" instead of just "Helvetica Neue LT 45". InDesign does not recognise this and thus when I open each file I get a list of Fonts to be found. I have dozens of styles (Paragraph and Character) in dozens of files and have changed some of the styles manually - a laborious task. The styles must be changed otherwise I am still stuck with Helvetica Neue LT lurking away, waiting for the style to be applied. So I cannot use "Find font..." in the Type Menu.
I am changing to "Helvetica Neue LT Std" with many faces: 35 Thin, 45 Light, 46 Light Italic, 65 Medium, 75 Bold...
from the similar faces in Helvetica Neue LT. These currently display in the Styles Menu as [Helvetica Neue LT] [LT 45 Light]
Sometimes when I change to Helvetica Neue LT Std manually the face sticks (even though I have changed it) so I have "Helvetical Neue Ltd Std [LT 45 Light]" and I have to go through the styles again and again. This is very tedious.
So if anyone can help me with this problem I'd be eternally grateful.

Even the name of the thread is similar to yours.
But first, you should do a bit of housecleaning in your font library. From your description it sound like a big mess.
Do you use any font management tools? Most of the times they do more harm than good (but i am aware that it's a necessary evil for the most part).
The fonts you are trying to use are in the font library or in the indesign document's folder?
While Mac is a lot better than Windows in managing multiple fonts/font versions, it's also a lot more "fragile" if something goes wrong with a font.
Try cleaning the font cache first:
sudo atsutil databases -remove
the restart the font server
sudo atsutil server -shutdown
sudo atsutil server -ping

Type tool issue: Type in saved document changes font when reopened and clicked on.

I've recently started getting a problem with document which I've saved a type layer to with a particular font. Reopening the document for reuse, I find clicking on the type with the type tool changes it to a different font. I've done a check on this and it was a known issue with CS6 and there is an adobe update to install: Adobe - Photoshop : For Macintosh : Adobe Photoshop 13.0.1 update for Adobe Photoshop CS6 : Trouble is, the install doesn't take and is advising me to seek customer support. Any ideas anyone? Recreating the file and font everytime (which is a work around) is a pain.

I suspect a damaged install.
Let's do an uninstall/reinstall. Be sure your account has admin privileges.
Uninstall CS6, checkmark "Remove Preferences"
Use the CS Cleaners to remove anything that might interfere with a reinstall
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
Use Disk Utility to repair permissions.
Reinstall CS6 and immediately apply the update.

I have lost the ability to change fonts,use color and size and when I try to write anyone,I cannot see my mailing list and there is no send button.

A few months ago my ability to use different fonts, colors and sizes suddenly disappeared. These choices were always available when looking at my email and I used them regularly . No one I asked ever heard of such a thing happening. I left it alone until I found someone to help. Then, a few days ago, when I clicked "write" , two things happened. First, I could not forward, reply or even see my collected email addresses. Second, there was no longer a place that said "send". My email page filled the entire screen and when I scaled it down, there was still no way to see my list or to send. I am a novice when it comes to fixes and terms but, I have asked people who have some experience with PC's they were stumped. I contacted Fairpoint and they said it must be a Thunderbird problem. Most of the people I asked said they didn't know Thunderbird. One suggested that I reinstall T.bird but, said I also might lose everything on my PC. I would appreciate any help you can give. When you click Write and open the new message editor, press Alt to show the Menu Bar, then enable all the toolbars under View/Toolbars. Plus, press F9 to show the Contacts sidebar.

Microsoft auto loaded what appears to be a new XP file that has changed the entire desktop and made my Firefox bookmarks go away. What is the name of the bookmark file and extension and where can I find it? Thanks for the help. Spit on you Microsoft.
