Changed from Windows lap top to iMac - and can't sync my iPod

I can't get my iPod to sync with my new iMac - it still only recognises the original Windows lap top. I still use the lap top, but have copied my itunes across to the iMac and plan to use this as my main machine.
How do I get the iPod to accept the Mac as it's host?
Thanks in anticipation
John

Perhaps it's me, or maybe I really am just a very old man and am unable to grasp what's going on....
My old lap top still has my original itunes library and still works
My new iMac is running itunes wonderfully well - after I copied it across. But track ratings and play count were lost. No big problem there.
But my iPod will still only sync with the Lap Top.
When I plug it into the iMac it shows up as having a Windows format. I have also read that the iPod can only be in sync with 1 library at a time. But I've completely failed to find any instructions on how to change it to recognise the iMac instead of the Windows lap top.
Do I need to reformat the iPod while connected to the iMac and then ask it to sync to that?
Is it simply a matter of 'resetting' it while attached to the iMac?
Grateful for any help - preferably in words of one sylable!!!
Thanks          John

Moved iTunes library from one lap top to another, and some audiobooks were lost!

    Sorry to hear that.
    Do you have a question?
Copy the audiobooks from the old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer to the new one.

  • Itunes from Windows XP to new IMAC and  IPOD

I had a 4th generation 20 gig IPOD that broke and I have Itunes and all my music on a Windows XP machine. I recently purchased a new IMAC and I'm going to purchase a new 5th gene Photo IPOD to use with my new IMAC. Does anyone know if I can backup my music from the Itunes on Windows Xp and install/restore all my music files on Itunes on my new IMAC, and then connect the new IPOD to the IMAC. Is this possible somehow? I have over 2300 songs in my music files on Windows Itunes, none of them have been purchased from the Itune store, they are all from my own CD's. I want to transfer everything to the Mac but dont want to have to redo my whole music files on the Itunes Mac. Thanks.

  • Moving from Windows Lap Top to Mac Book Pro, i gotta do it ......

My missus dragged me into an Apple Store yesterday, she is itching to get an iPad2, the rest of the store was full of Mac computers, they are so LOVELY and so easy to use, beautifull in every way, so for £1500 + i can get a MacBookPro, but how much of my Windows Software and Hardware would i have to throw away ?.
Will my External USB Hard drives still work ? and what about my Fave Windows software, like MS Office, and how about Torrent files that i have been downloading with free software like Bit Torrent, can i still do that ?.
It looks as if the Mac uses APP's not programs, i do hope they are a lot cheaper to buy than the Windows 7 OS and/or MS Office etc.
I can be very tempted to be converted, but i would prefer it if i didnt splash out loads more money on hardware/software.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
And it will be easier for a Mac to talk to my wifes iPad2 when she gets it, hopefully before christmas !!.

Your external drive will work, either formatted as native HFS+ (Apple's file system) or FAT32. You can even use NTFS but will not be able to write to it, just read from it. Most of your peripherals should work fine, unless they are really, really, old in which case there may not be drivers for the most recent OS X version (old printers, scanners, for example).
Windows executable programs will not run in OS X. You can however, run windows, either from a dual-boot setup, or from a virtual machine (e.g.e with VMWare Fusion or Parallels). So, if you need OS X native MS Office, you would have to buy that new, and it's just as expensive from MS as it is for windows. You can also use OpenOffice (free) or Apple's own iWorks.
Bit Torrent works on Apple machines, but if you have downloaded applications, then again they won't run natively on OS X (an Apple app is just an OS X compiled executable program - analogous to an *.exe file in windows). Cost of commercial apps is going to be much the same - photoshop for OS X is no cheaper than photoshop for windows and that will be true for most commerial applications available for both platforms.

Restore them from the recycle bin if they are there, or your backup, or find an unerase or file recovery tool, or see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device if you have one.

  • Changing from Window 7 to Apple iMac machine

I wish to change my licence and use from my previous Windows based machine to a new Apple iMac.  How can I do this?

    Hi
The message I have on my iMac states ‘Activation Limit reached for Adobe Photoshop Elements 9’.
'This serial number has already been activated on two computers;-
(Please note this is one of two serial numbers on the original package (which included Premiere Elements 9) which included 2 disks each for Windows and Mac OS.  All I have tried to do is download the 2 Mac OS disks.  The other Windows disks are on my old Windows machine and I tried to uninstall the program, but this made no difference.  The other serial is *******.
    Hope you can help
    Regards
    Oliver
PS the version is 9 and I have never received any updates.

  • I have Windows XP and can't sync my Ipod Touch with itunes. Gives error 13019. I did all the recommendations recommended, including unchecking the sync and resyncing all the music, but it came up again. No voice memos or videos checked.  Help!  Please!

Again, I went through the "fixes" recommended, but none of them have worked.  Please help!  I can't get any of my new music that I just bought onto my Ipod!  It fails at the last second with that 13019 error code even after removing all the music and re-syncing.  Thanks.

Thank you, but I did that. I de-selected and then re-selected but because the 13019 still won't allow the sync, all it did was completely delete everything on my Ipod!  I now have no songs on my Ipod when at least before, I had all my songs but the new 12 songs!  I'm freaking!

  • HT204053 How do I link my accounts I have 2 accounts and can't sync my IPod with ITunes

How do I link 2 accounts in ITunes Store so I can sunk music I purchased?

You can't link two accounts, all content is tied to the account that downloaded it and accounts can't be merged nor content transferred between them.
You can have more than account authorised on your computer's iTunes via the Store > Authorise This Computer menu option and you should be able to sync content from both to your iPod. If you redownload and account's purchases (or use iTunes Match or automatic downloads on an account) then you might tie your computer to that account for 90 days : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627 - so you won't be able to do those three things on another account until the 90 days have completed.
To sync music, connect you iPod to your computer and select it on the left-hand sidebar of your computer's iTunes (you can enable the sidebar via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC), and then use the Music tab on the right-hand side of the iTunes screen to select and sync your music to your iPod.

  • Could I connect the lap top to TV and watch movies and control the lap top from a distance?

could I connect the Apple lap top to my TV to watch movies and control the lap top from a distance just like the Window lap top???

Check out Apple TV.  It is a wireless interface to your TV.  It may be the best $99 investment you can make for entertainment on your TV.  It simply requires a standard $10 HDMI cable, not supplied with the Apple TV unit.  Through Apple TV, with Mavericks, you can use the TV as a standard OS X monitor or for entertainment.  Also check out the Beamer software to stream videos to it from your Mac.
Apple TV requires a Mid 2011 or newer MacBook Air with OS X Lion v10.7.5 or later.
If your MBA is not new enough you can use the AirParrot application but the video quality is not as high as with a newer MBA.  It also streams from iOS devices.

AirPlay is available on all devices running iOS 4.3 or later. Some features require the latest software. Second-generation Apple TV or later required.
AirPlay Mirroring is available with iPhone 4s or later; iPad 2 or later; iPad mini; iPod touch (5th generation); and iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer), and Mac Pro (Late 2013) with OS X Mountain Lion or later.

  • Iv'e had my mac for 2 weeks & now have a problem with safari since I changed to a wireless super hub.  It will not open a web site I use my iPad & windows lap top will.  Apple support say it's the DNS settings cable say there okay please can anyone help

Iv'e had my mac for 2 weeks safari was working great until I changed to a wire less super hub.  Safari will not let me open & log into a web site I go on a lot.  My ipad & windows lap top will on the same network.  Apple have said it's the DNS setting my cable provider say it's not it's a problem with my mac.  Iv'e phoned apple lots of times same with cable provider Iv'e tried a few things it has not helped solve the problem.  I'm now advised to return my mac to the shop for a check.  Has anyone else had this problem I would appreciate any help because I'm going round in circles.

Adding a couple of DNS numbers sometimes helps:
System Preferences>Network, select your wifi or ethernet network on the left and click on the 'advanced' button and then the DNS tab. On the left side of the window make a note of any DNS numbers listed so that you can re-instate them if necessary and then click on the '+" button bottom left of the window. Type 8.8.8.8 and click the + again and type 8.8.4.4 save the settings and try the website again.
BTW, I have the same problem with Firefox not letting me input my password in secure sites. I did find a workround in the network settings in Firefpx prefs, but it didn't stick so I reverted to using Chrome as alternative browser. No problems with that so long as you don't mind Google looking over your shoulder

  • How to transfer I tunes from old windows lap top to new Mac lap top

How do you transfer your i tunes account from an old windows lap top to your new Mac?

Drag and drop copy the iTunes folder to a external hard drive on Windows, then take it to the Mac and use iTunes there to import it.
If you want to read/write the external drive between Mac's and PC's, right click on the drive and format it exFAT or FAT in Windows, not NTFS.
Some Mac's can read NTFS, but not write to that format as it's proprietary.
When you format the drive, all data will be erased on it, so make sure before you do so.

  • Transfer Bookmarks from one lap top to another laptop Vista to Windows 7

Have purchased a new laptop which uses Windows 7. Would like to transfer bookmarks from old lap top which uses Vista to the new laptop

On the Vista PC, open Firefox and click '''Bookmarks''' ('''Alt''' + '''B''') > '''Show All Bookmarks''' and on the top left of the new window, click '''Import and Backup''' > '''Export Bookmarks to HTML...'''. Next on the new laptop you have to go through the same steps as above except for the last step where you have to choose '''Import Bookmarks from HTML...''' and browse to the file saved earlier.

I also don't have a disk drive on this Mac. Thanks"
Also please feel free to e-mail the answer because I hate looking for these answers online. It takes me forever to find this section. Not that I have even even gotten a real answer.

    Hi Sonia,
While transferring Adobe from laptop to PC the licensing files got corrupt and the right way to use Adobe Applications is to install first as transferring from a different machine can give you problems.
You can try steps from this article if that helps otherwise you have to reinstall and manually delete some files , everything is mentioned.

  • WISH TO TRANSFER FILES AND ADDRESS BOOK FROM WINDOWS 98PC TO NEW IMAC.

HOW TO TRANSFER FILES AND ADDRESS BOOK FROM WINDOWS PC 98 TO IMAC .

For addresses, general answer is to use Export function in your PC program and export in .csv (comma separated value) format. Then open Address Book app on new iMac and choose Import from File menu and locate the file you exported (on USB stick, or by email, for example). Should work! You've heard that before, right?
