For some reason I can not sign into FaceTime or iMessage using my Apple ID anymore. They both used to work, but they just stopped.. Now when I try to sign back in I get a message than an error occurred during sign in. I use two different Apple id's, one just for iCloud and one for everything else.

  • Can't log into facetime or iMessage on iPad

I am sorry to be posting this question again. I have read many other threads on this matter. I have verified my apple ID, I have changed DNS settings, I have set the date and time to automatic, I have hard reset. I'm at a loss and very frustrated. If anyone could help me figure out why I cannot log into FaceTime or iMessage on my iPad, I would greatly appreciate it.

  • Can't unlock my MacBook Pro. Recently, I've changed my password, now I can't access anything. Please help!!!

I Have a MacBook Pro 13, which I bought in 2010. I'm not really sure which version of operating system I do have, because I haven't updated it for a long time. I've changed my password recently and now I can't unlock it. It just jiggles and says that password is wrong. Then it asks the security question, but even doesn't work. I'm pretty sure that I'm typing everything correct, but it's not working. I took it to the service store, they couldn't do anything. Please help me to unlock it.

A login password for the computer is not the password used for your Apple ID. To change a forgotten or lost password:
    Forgot Your Account Password
For Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks
        Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
When the menubar appears select Terminal from the Utilities menu.
Enter resetpassword at the prompt and press RETURN. Follow
instructions in the dialog window that will appear.

  • I can't sign into FaceTime or iMessage using my Apple ID.

I Have been trying to sign into both iMessage and FaceTime on all my apple devices. And it won't sign into either one of them. I know the password is correct because I am able to use iTunes and iCloud.
but its only with my Apple ID. I signed into FaceTime with my friends account and it worked perfectly fine.
why won't it sign in with mine?

  • Can't log into Facetime or iMessage.

Getting a "Server encountered a error processing your registration. Please try again later."  message after entering my password. I reset me passord and tried again, but still unsuccessful.

I'm having the same issue as well. I just migrated to a new Macbook Air from an old Macbook Pro. Both were running on the latest version of Mountain Lion. My Apple ID/iCloud account services work across all my iOS devices and my old MBP, but for some reason, both FaceTime and iMessage will not log into my Apple ID, even though the info is correct and current. Not sure what to do...

  • I changed my Apple ID and Password, now I can't get into iCloud.

I changed my Apple ID and Password, so now when I get on my iPhone it asks me for my password to my old Apple ID, which doesn't work. I've gone into settings to change the Apple ID, but it won't let me. I've tried to delete the account, but it asks for my password. Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

    saschuck1217 wrote:
I called Apple Support. The solution is absolutely ridiculous. You have to go back and change your Apple ID to your old Apple ID and then go back into iCloud and iTunes on your phone and delete or reset the account. Basically, you are supposed to anticipate these issues prior to changing your Apple ID, or else you're locked out of your iCloud and iTunes. I thought Apple was smarter than this. Very disappointed.
Apple provided a procedure, listed in the first article I posted, that instructs you to log out of all Apple ID related services prior to changing your primary email address.  Granted, I'd like to see a reminder link listed at appleid.apple.com next to the Primary Email Address edit option, but Apple does provide a correct procedure, plus a way to fix it if you don't follow the procedure.
In fact, the last article I linked to gives you three separate steps to try.  If the Apple Support Advisor jumped straight to step three, instead of having you try steps one & two first, then that was not correct on their part.
    1. Use your current Apple ID password
Trying using your current Apple ID password. If that doesn't work, continue to the next step.
    2. Sign out and back in to iMessage or FaceTime
If you are currently signed in to iMessage or FaceTime
If you are not signed in to iMessage or FaceTime
    3. Change your Apple ID temporarily
If signing out and back in to iMessage or FaceTime didn't work, try these steps:
Change your Apple ID to the Apple ID you used previously. You shouldn't need to verify the email address.
Tap Settings > iCloud and try to sign out.
Change your Apple ID to the new email address that you want to use. You'll need to verify the email address.
Tap Settings > iCloud and sign in with the new Apple ID.
Complaining about an issue arising when you don't follow their instructions is like complaining that you lost all of your data because you never backed it up to iTunes or iCloud as they recommend, and you lost data after an iOS update.  In fact, the very first step of [iOS: How to update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Support - Apple] states: "Back up your device to iCloud or iTunes."  And it even includes a link if you don't know how to do that.
When you use the Apple Support Articles properly, you avoid 99.9% of all potential problems.

  • Can't login to Facetime and iMessage on macbook pro

Very recently, I am unable to log in to iMessage and Facetime on my macbook pro.    I also have an iMac and I am not having any issues with that.
When I try to login it says:
Could not sign in to iMessage.
An error occurred during activation. Try again.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This could be a complicated problem to solve, as there are many possible causes for it. Test after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Back up all data before making any changes.
Before proceeding, test on another network, if possible. That could be a public Wi-Fi hotspot, if your computer is portable, or a cellular network if you have a mobile device that can share its Internet connection. If you find that iMessage works on the other network, the problem is in your network or at your ISP, not in your computer.
    Step 1
Check the status of the service. If the service is down, wait for it to come back up. There may be a localized outage, even if the status indicator is green.
    Step 2
Sign out of iMessage and FaceTime on all your Apple devices. Log out and log back in. Try again to sign in.
    Step 3
Restart your router and your broadband device, if they're separate. You may have to skip this step if you don't control those devices.
    Step 4
    From the menu bar, select
               ▹ About This Mac
Below the "OS X" legend in the window that opens, the OS version appears. Click the version line twice to display the serial number. If the number is missing or invalid according to this web form, take the machine to an Apple Store or other authorized service center to have the problem corrected.
    Step 5
Take the steps suggested in this support article. If you don't understand some of the steps or can't carry them out, ask for guidance.
    Step 6
    From the menu bar, select
               ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Network
If the preference pane is locked, click the lock icon in the lower left corner and enter your password to unlock it. Then click the Advanced button and select the Proxies tab. If the box marked SOCKS Proxy is checked, uncheck it. You don’t need to change any other settings in the window. Click OK and then Apply. Test.
The result may be that you can't connect to the Internet at all. Revert the change if that happens, or if iMessage still doesn't work. Remember that you must Apply any changes you make in the preference pane before they take effect.
    Step 7
    Select from the menu bar
               ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Storage
    and click
Block all sites from storing information on this computer
    Close the preference pane.
    Step 8
Make sure you know the ID and password you use with iMessage. Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Use the search box in the toolbar of the Keychain Access window to find and delete all items with "iMessage" or "com.apple.idms" in the name. Log out and log back in.
    Step 9
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
If iMessage worked in the guest account, stop here and post your results.
    Step 10
Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you start up, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound outputand Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. After testing, restart as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and test again.
If iMessage worked in safe mode, but still doesn't work when you restart in "normal" mode, stop here and post your results.
    Step 11
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Preferences/com.apple.apsd.plist
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Restart the computer and empty the Trash.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Step 12
    Reset the NVRAM.
    Step 13
Reset the System Management Controller (SMC).
    Step 14
    Reinstall OS X.
    Step 15
If none of the above steps resolves the issue, make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or contact Apple Support. When you set up a support call, select "Apple ID" as the product you need help with, not the hardware model. That way, if you're not under AppleCare, you may be able to talk your way out of being charged for the call.

  • Can't login on facetime and imessage

    Hi everybody.
Yesterday my little sister got the iPad 2 as a birthday present. After we created her a Apple-ID we wanted to sign in on facetime to try it out.
But instead of logging in nothing happend.
After we entered the ID with her password we came to the next page and after some seconds it jumped back to the login screen. The same happens if we try it on iMessage...
    Please can you help me?!?!?
    Thanks a lot!

  • I can't log into FaceTime or iMessage?

I bought a brand new iPad mini 3 from Apple, it is up-to-date as well as the time and date being set to automatic. I have tried manually setting it, which makes no difference. When I attempt to log on to either application, it either does not respond or a message appears informing me that there is a connection error, to check my network and to try again. There is nothing wrong with my connection, as it works perfectly fine with everything else?
I have even attempted to create two separate Apple ID accounts and neither of them have worked.
    Can anybody help please?

Apple has a problem with the IPad Mini 3, new AppleIDs and FaceTime, iMessage. This version started back in March.
You need need to call AppleCare and tell them. I went to the Apple Store and while they couldn't help, later when I called AppleCare and they said it was my network I could tell them I tried their network too.
It's not a quick fix. I think they are fixing AppleIDs one at a time!
You don't need a phone number with an iPad to use those apps.
There are a lot of posts here about this, the biggest one is imessage and Facetime sign in activation error iPad ios8.1.2
Start at page 18 for the current issue. Good luck
