Changed my short user name, now getting endless "allow" requests

I have changed my short user name a while back and noticed a few expected issues, fixed some permissions, had added a group containing my old username and the new one, all is fine.
I noticed in the last couple of days ago after changing some sharing settings, that now I'm getting a flood of keychain requests. I have repaired the key chain, sync'd with me.com and still get requests, here and there. How can I get them all resolved?
My keychain is unlocking properly when I login. I have seen some flakiness, but on the whole, just annoying few remaining requests coming. Ideas?

I think you misunderstood. The operation of changing my short user name went fine. I used that note you refer to on apple support, but also found this article, which seems to cover all levels of the process, giving you an understanding of what the issues of each approach are: http://www.macworld.com/article/132693/2008/03/changeshort The author indicates that Apple has worked tirelessly on the issue of changing the short user name and this came off without a hitch.
What I'm experiencing is that I have a keychain access issue which I experience only on one of my snow leopard systems. It will likely go away if I completely replace my mobile me sync on that machine. I'll try that and see.

The Form of the Short User Name

I have a quick question about setting up accounts, notably about user names, and specifically about the form of the short user name (the one used for the home folder).
I’m going to have to set up a computer with Snow Leopard for someone who knows even less about this stuff than me, so I’d like to do it properly from the start in order to avoid any problems, either immediately or down the road.
In Leopard (10.5), Apple clearly says that the short user name should contain only lower-case letters (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1428). For example, if your full name is “Charlie Brown”, or just “Charlie”, then presumably your short user name would be “charliebrown”, or just “charlie”.
However, I’ve read that Snow Leopard now supports short user names with capital letters. So, if your full name is “Charlie”, your short user name, and the name of your home folder, can also be “Charlie” (with a capital “C”). This change is apparently not documented by Apple (as mentioned here:

and there is one previous allusion to it on these forums (here: http://discussions.info.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10722806).
The use of short user names with lower case letters seems to have been the rule for a long time. I’ve read that this practice is attributed to some kind of Unix convention, although I’ve no idea if this is true (and I’ve even less of an idea of the reasons why Unix might prefer just the lower case to the regular combination of upper and lower case). Anyway, the thing is that I’ve read of problems being created by using capital letters in the short user name, for example when restoring from Time machine (see the last comment on this page:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2266359&tstart=225), and so I’m asking myself two questions:
(1) Is the use of capital letters in the short user name definitely supported now by Snow Leopard?
And, more importantly, (2) is there is a “best practice” in this regard? In other words, is the use of lower-case letters in the short user name really some kind of a convention, and is this the advisable way to set up a machine? Or does it not matter at all which case one uses in the name?
As I mentioned, I’d simply like to get things straight from the start in order to avoid future problems, since I know that changing the short user name is not particularly advised.

It strikes me as odd that Apple would appear to make the use of both lower- and upper-case letters possible in the short user-name, leaving the possibility that upper-case letters might lead to some problems/conflicts down the line. It would be helpful if they'd provide some explanation about this. Anyway, as I said, I'm very far from being an expert in all this, and appreciate that people like yourself on these
forums are willing to provide helpful feedback.

Do a factory reset .. nothing will be deleted from your backups and you will be able to get access to them again.
The Factory Reset Gen1-4.
Unplug your TC. Hold in reset. and power the TC back on.. without releasing reset for about 10sec. When the status light flashes rapidly; release it.
Be Gentle! Feel the switch click on. It has a positive feel.. add no more pressure after that.
TC will reboot after a couple of minutes with default factory settings and will wipe out previous configurations.
No files are deleted on the hard disk.. No reset of the TC deletes files.. to do that you use erase from the airport utility.

It's not a big deal and I don't want to make it so. It's just that it would be nice if there were something in place to deal with situations like mine. I have a MobileMe account now that I have a Mac. There is no way to associate my MobileMe .ME email address with my current profile, and I would like to reconcile that email with my user ID. So, the logic goes, if I could change the user ID associated with my non-MobileMe email, then that would free up my current (and preferred) user ID to be usable with my MobileMe email address.
Like I say, I'm not trying to make a big deal out of it, but it would be nice if Apple would make some provision to link a MobileMe email with an existing user ID instead of throwing up a brick wall between the two, thus forcing a new MobileMe user (and presumably a new Mac users) from having to choose between continuing to use their established (and presumably preferred) user ID and having to create a new user ID in the forums simply to be able to use their new MobileMe email address.

The apps are tied to the account from which they were purchased. If the apps were purchased from the previous owners account, then they would have to be updated from that account. you should not have these apps anyway. You need to buy your own.
Read the manual. it will tell you how to sign into your account to buy apps.

I've had the 2nd generation Apple TV since this past October when it was released and it has worked fine until I recently changed my Apple User Name (email address). After changing my user name my Apple TV and iPhone 4 no longer find my shared network. Home sharing is enabled on all devices, including my Sony Vaio Laptop, iPhone4, and Apple TV 2nd generation. Everything else has remained constant, including service provider, router, modem, and internet security (Trend Micro). Also, my library is on a networked hard drive, which didnt seem to make a difference before, but I figured I'd mention it. Any thoughts?

Thank you for the information. He confirmed that the ID and password are the same on every device. This only started happending when he changed his User Name with Apple.

In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)

Accessibility changes to the MSAA name of several components, as requested by Freedom Scientific. These changes make Flex controls behave more like standard Windows controls.
In Accordion and TabBar, the name is now just what is displayed, without " Tab" or " Tab, Active" appended.
In ComboBox, List, and Tree, the name of each item is now just what it displays, without, for example, "2 of 7" appended.
Removed an artificial limit of 100000 items in List and Menu.
A Slider with an MXML id no longer returns that id as its name; no other component does this and id's are certainly no intended to be spoken.
Removed the getName() method of ComboBase, which isn't used.

I have contacted the internal alias to find why the [email protected] alias isn't working for you.
Regarding the specific question, I have not been able to find a way to achieve the same results in the source view as what the "double-click on the empty Starting Event target" does.
I can send you specific snippets of code which gets generated for each choice, but unfortunately, there are certain parts of this code which are auto created and should not be edited by the user.
In my experience with WLI processes, I've noticed that certain operations are restricted to just the design view.
I'll go ahead and create an internal CR to track this.
Regarding the second question, I was able to find the documentation you are referring to, but unfortunately I do not have much information regarding the specific configurations. I'll try to get some clarification and get back to you.

Used Macbook Pro, trying to change the admin/user name. I've tried to change it, but wasn't successful.

I'm relatively new to Mac, and I'm still learning my way around my Macbook Pro 2010 from this summer. I was using terminal to do some class in work, and I keep noticing that the user name is something close to 'hello$' (as shown in the screenshot). I purchased this from another Mac user, and some of the settings weren't restored; like the user name and default language on the notebook was in Chinese.
In short, how do I change the user name. Also shown in the screenshot is my name, as you can see I already tried to change the computer's name/admin name.
also, if anyone could answer this simpler question: How do I save the preferences on my terminal to remain the color I have now. Everytime I quit Terminal it reverts back to the same black text - white background.

The root user is NOT the owner of that little house. That belongs to the user that's logged in. To change that, see Changing user account shortname.

How to change newly registered user name, without changing entire apple id, in iCloud?

Recently created new user name. Need to change it. I do not want to change my entire apple id account information. The only information I can find in communities, has to do with the previous Mobile Me stuff and not the new iCloud stuff. Again, I don't want to change my long standing account id with Apple. There must be some sane way to do this! I've been searching now, for over 2 hours. Help!

Go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https//appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

How do I change the admin user name?

After a recent crash on my Macbook, the local repair store reinstalled Leopard on it for me, and did all the preliminary setup. Unfortunately, they misspelled my name, and so my "Home" folder in Finder has my name misspelled on it. I can't rename it directly (It says it can't be modified because Mac OS depends on it).
Is there some other indirect way to correct the spelling (like through terminal or similar) , or is my only option creating another user name and moving all my files to it?

You have to delete the old account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use. If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, you will have to do one of the following:
If you still have access to your old email address, go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your iCloud ID. Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email account and verify it. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You should then be able to turn off Find My iPhone with your password. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back and change your primary email address and iCloud ID back to the way it was. You will then be able to go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current ID and password to reconnect to your iCloud account.
If you don't have access to your old email address, you will have to contact Apple to get them to reset the password for it so you can disable Find My iPhone and sign into your iCloud account. You will have to prove your identity to them in order to do so. You can either contact iTunes support for assistance with this (https://ssl.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html), or contact Apple Support (http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/contact/).
