Changed photo dates--how to fix

I bought a Mac and transferred all files. Now all of the photo dates have been changed to the date I transferred the files! Some of them shot on an actual camera came out OK, but almost all of them that had originally be shot on a cellphone had the dates changed.
Any ideas on how to correct or has Mac just screwed me. I can't backtrack all the dates.

Details help - what version of iPhoto - of the OS?
In any case the Mac has not "screwed" you - obviously for the photos that were properly formed everything is ok -
Some of them shot on an actual camera came out OK,
iPhoto (like all capable photo managers) gets the dates from the EXIF data put into the photo by the camera and if the phone is properly storing photo by the phone
You can correct dates using the Batch change date time command if the EXIF data is nonexistent and using the adjust change date/time command if the EXIF data is wrong (like a camera being set incorrectly)

Changing Photo Dates

Have what could be a simple question. Using iPhoto 6 and really like it, with a couple reservations. What I would like to knw is how to change the dates on photos. Specifically, I am converting some old slide photos and am using iPhoto to organize and edit. Many of the slides are from the 60s or 70's or 80s or 90s but when putting them in iPhoto from my scanner, it shows todays date. I can change the date individually to the approriate year, but I would like to know how to select multiple photos and change a group to a specific year. That's all I need! Thanks in advance!

With scanned images iPhoto will use the created or modified date. There are 3rd party application what will batch change that date but iPhoto won't recognize it unless they are reimported into the library. As Terrance pointed out you can batch re-title them with a date but that's only for iPhoto's use. The actual file names will not be changed and you don't want to do it from the Finder: Don't tamper with files in the iPhoto Library folder from the Finder.

Is there a way of changing photos' dates all at once?

I imported a number of photos taken within one week into iPhoto - some of them were assigned a wrong date by my camera which made the last photos the first ones in the folder.
I know I can change the photos' dates manually one by one, but is there any workaround to select multiple photos and change their dates simultaniously? I couldn't find any automator action...anybody who knows a hint?

thanks for the reply. It does work. Could have figured it out myself, I guess...but I always marked the photos and then tried to change their dates in this little information box in the lower left corner (which doesn't work).

Batch Change Photos' Date - Not Time

Is there a way to change a bunch of photos' date, but not the time?

Not in iPhoto. Unfortunately you've go to change the time as well. If there are not too many of them you can do it this way.
1 - move all that you want to redate to the same date to a new roll.
2 - in the Finder copy the folder in the Original folder that represents the roll with the files to be redated to the desktop.
3 - using an application like PhotoInfo batch change the date to whatever you need. It can just add or subtract a specific number of days, months or years to the date as you see fit.
4 - change the name of the folder and import back into iPhoto.
5 - delete the original roll of photos with the incorrect date.
That's about it. It's not too convoluted and can be done. This way the new date will be embedded in the file and stay with it if needed in a new library or other application.

Changing photos' dates

My camera's clock had a wrong timing with the result of the photos being sorted in the wrong way on iphoto. I tried to change manually the date of the photos but it seems that this is not possible.
Is there any way of changing the dates of the photos that already exist in the library?

First, select all the photos you want (You can even select multiple events), then go to the *Photos->Adjust Date and Time...* dialog. It will show you the date of the first photo in your selection, and then you can make delta adjustments. That adjustment will be made to all photos in your selection. Don't worry about the actual date/time that you choose, as it is only used as the basis of calculating the delta (Difference).
If you select the checkbox, your EXIF data in all your pictures will be updated. If you *do not* select the checkbox, only the iPhoto library database will be changed (not very useful in my opinion). (And just remember that the check box's state is saved until you quit iPhoto. So, if you like it checked, and do a bunch of time/date changes, it will stay checked. But then if you quit iPhoto and start it up again, remember to check that box since it will be unchecked by default.)

The fonts of my incoming email change, and change size. How to fix?

I have a 2009 27 iMac, with Lion.
In my Apple email, the fonts on some of messages change, from serif to sans serif, and change size.
How can I fix this?

2. I did as you suggested.
3. That did change some of the font to Arial in the incoming message.
4. However, the message now has copy in two fonts:
Arial, then Times, then Arial again, then Times again.
And the Times is much smaller than the Arial.
This used to occur with just one person's incoming email. Now it is starting to occur with several people.
(I now suspect that I accused the first guy of having a defective computer.)

Apple TV app testing requires changing the date: how to do this?

We have an app where the user is supposed to be automatically logged out after 45 days of being signed in. Obviously waiting 45 days to execute one test case isn't going to work. Does anyone have any work arounds or suggestions for setting up a way to do this?

VA45 - Mass change pricing date - how to activate

In VK11 we have changed the pricing date. The changes should reflect in contract (va42/va43)
For this i tried T.Code - VA45
Blocked the contract line items - Edit - Mass change - New pricing - I got a pop up - A New price is being processed - clicked Yes - A list of price type appeared - i selected option B- Carry out new pricing.
Still the pricing date is not getting changed in va45 as well when i checked in contract - va42/va43. i
someone pls guide to how to go about.

Let me explain you, we have added a new table/access for an existing access sequence. In order to maintain a differential value for the access sequence.
In (va42 )contracts to make the change in price work , i need to update the header pricing date , so that the changes will be applicable for line item also. I can manually change the pricing date in header in vk12. But the problem is , we have about 1000 contracts. For which i need to update the pricing date.
I tried using option va45 but when i used the mass change - update price option B and C it did'nt work. Pls tell me how to go abt.
Or is there any step i am missing.

MAC OS X updated to FIREFOX 9 - logo in Dock changed - Why and how to fix please.

The traditional FIREFOX logo disappeared from the dock and was replaced by a new one that is for sure no improvement. This happened when I updated to 9. It was not an improvement. We all recognize the familiar fox of fire. The new one is nondescript. Why the change?

I fixed it on my iMac by deleting the new icon from the dock and dragging the old icon onto the dock from the applications folder. I don't know if this will work for everyone.

Changing photo data size

Is there a way to reduce the data size of a photo?

Geno: iPhoto isn't a real photo editing application, and doesn't offer nearly the power of a real one. To have any genuine control over your images, you'll need to use another application. Lemkesoft's GraphicConverter (you may have gotten a free version of it bundled with a recent Mac; if not, download the shareware version) provides Photoshop power at a lunch-money price, and gives you total control over every aspect of your pictures if you're ready to do more with them than iPhoto can. Simply export your photos from iPhoto, and tweak them in GraphicConverter or Photoshop Elements or any of a dozen other apps. When you have them fine-tuned to your liking, import them back into iPhoto so you can organize them the way you're accustomed to doing.
Alternatively, you can open iPhoto Preferences, click the General tab, and set "Double-click photo:" to "Opens photo in...GraphicConverter" [or other app of your choice]. Either of these workflows makes use of iPhoto's easy-to-use album and book creation features, slide shows, print ordering, etc. without leaving you at the mercy of iPhoto's weak photo editing and manipulation features.

Youtube videos wont play after using Quicktime (which changed my preferenaces) how to fix?

I played a video in Quicktime on my pc (against my better judgement). Quicktime went through my FF & changed everything to be played in QT, now online videos, specificallt Youtube, wont play in my FF browser (3.6.14).
I get sound but no picture.
What do i change back to fix this?I have changed everything to either WMP or VLC to try & get it to play with no luck so i must be missing something?

I had this problem and searched it and came up with a solution that works for me.
First, I only started having this problem for the last few days, this came after a multitude of updates from Adobe and Windows.
The videos would only play (though the sound kept playing) if I kept moving the mouse cursor over the video.
My solution, I went into Tools \ Options \ Advanced \ Network ... and simply cleared the Cache Web Content. I might have also deselected Override Automatic Cache Management ... but regardless, this is the solution that is still working for me.
I should also add that when FireFox gets flaky that's where I always go and that seems to solve any strangeness. Just passing this on.
EDIT ---- Just now I experienced the same thing. I obviously did not fix this issue. Sorry for this unnecessary post.

Changing photo date

When I try to adjust the date of a photo, I enter the date I want where indicated; however, the date that the program enters after I click "adjust" is totally different from what I entered - usually in a different century. Does anyone know why or has anyone else had this problem?

Where are you entering the date?
Date issues are usually related to the chose date settings in the Date and Time and Language and Texts (Formats section) in the SystemPreferences.

Messed up my photo location, how to fix?

Hi,
Running Lightroom 1.4 on a Mac, 10.6.2. I have imported many many photos into Lightroom using the copy method. I incorrectly placed them in the wrong spot, not inside my photo archive. Now they are sitting in my hard drive in the wrong spot and I want to get them into the my archive. How do I go about doing that and not messing up Lightroom? I fear making things much much worse.
