Changed RDP port to bypass University Network restriction on 3389, now can't access server at all.

I'm new to Windows Server and I recently changed the RDP port from 3389 to 3390, due to University restrictions on Port 3389 and now I can't access the server at all via RDP, the port is not blocked at my end and the server is definitely up as I can still
access my File server.
Is there any way I can fix this blunder, it's a dedicated server so I do not have access to the actual hardware, only via RDP.  Do I have to reinstall? I do still have access to RescueMode SSH.
Thanks!

No, you'll simply need to logon to console and undo the regedit.

  • Can't access server via RDC through one of the LAN port among two.

    Hello!!
I have a window 2008 server with two LAN port. First with public IP Address and Second with Private IP for internal connection (no gateway IP Address). I'm able to connect server via RDC via public IP but not via Private IP.
Pls suggest how can I troubleshoot for dual connectivity through RDC.
    Regards,
    nts007

I have seen this issue with multihomed systems.  I would verify connectivity from the client first.
    1. Can you Ping the private IP from the client?
    If the pings are unsuccessful...
Are your client and server IP on the same subnet
I have run into this problem on multihomed servers.  Because the default gateway points to a router on the public IP, return traffic from the server might be being sent to the default gateway.
To solve this you will need to use the route add command to tell the server to send the return traffic to a router through the private IP.
    2. If you could ping the IP, I would make sure you can reach the RDP port on the internal IP
From a command prompt can you make a connection to the rdp port (3389 by default)?
    telnet privateip 3389
If you can you will get a screen with the cursor at the top right if you can't it will say "Could not open connection"
If you could not connect to the port, then check to see if the Windows firewall might be preventing the connection.
    3.  If that doesn't work then I'd follow Milo's advice and use Netmon.  You might have to run it from the client and the server to get a full understanding of the issue.

I I have changed my email address so I changed my Apple ID and password.  Just realised haven't changed icloud details and now can't access as don't know password or security questions.  Want to delete and set up on new Apple ID.  Help please???

In order to change the iCloud ID on your device you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https//appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

Settings>Mail, contacts, calendars>Your email account name>Delete Account. A window will popu after you select your email account in the settings and there is a large red Delete Button at the bottom of the window.
Settings>Mail, contacts, calendars>Add account. Tap on Add account and start entering your email account details again. If your email account doesn't fit one the per installed accounts in there, tap on Other - and add your account in there.
I would restart the iPad after you delete the email account, just to be starting "fresh" again.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button

How can I access and use documents and drawings created on the PC based computer ?

Clarisworks, you need Appleworks, which will only work with Mac OS X10.6.8 or earlier.  See this tip if you must go newer.  Mac Pros with newer hardware configuration than July 20, 2011 can't use Mac OS X 10.6.8 or earlier without this tip and then it would be Mac OS X Server.  I'm not sure if the new black Mac Pro supports that configuration or not.
iPhoto, there is an iPhoto for all versions of Mac OS X.
iTunes, there is an iTunes for all versions of Mac OS X.  Note with iTunes versions 11 and later, which are needed for syncing with iOS 7 or or later, you will lose coverflow, if you liked that feature.  Sadly you can't run an older version of iTunes from within Mac OS X 10.9 or later.
Sketchup: http://help.sketchup.com/en/article/60107 shows the versions that will work with intermediate Mac OS X versions, and this shows the latest version: http://help.sketchup.com/en/article/36208 be sure to click on the operating system you choose to use.
GIF - Viewing GIFs Apple's Preview can do that.  Editing them, I like http://www.lemkesoft.com/ Graphicconverter.
DMG is able to be opened by all versions of Mac OS X.  This are just "disk images" which store programs on a virtual disk that will open when double clicked.    Frequently you'll find the installer of the said program inside.  To find out if the program itself is compatible with 10.7 through 10.9, see http://www.roaringapps.com/

  • I changed my apple id now can't access iCloud

I got hacked, the support center gave me new I'd with new email. Now I can't access iCloud because it is stuck on old Id, help please I don't want to lose everything from pictures to downloaded apps. How do I access iCloud with new email and Id? How do I change iCloud Id and keep everything?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > iTunes & App store, scroll down and tap your ID)
If you are using iMessages or FaceTime, you will also need to log out and into your ID there too.

  • Changed my apple id now can't access my icloud acct.  not the same password and I don't know it

Can't access my icloud acct to back up data to another phone.  I am the primary and until I can access my icloud account the other phone won't back up.  How do I access my icloud password.  I have changed my apple id password 4 times and still no success.  Now my apple id is now incorrect.  Yikes!  I have had a call with Technical security and they are puzzled as well.  Couldn't help me... is there anyone that has had this issue?

If you changed the password for your AppleID, the only way to change that on an iOS device is to delete the iCloud account, then add it back with the new/updated login credentials.  It sounds awkward (well, it is I guess), but you just need to do that - delete the iCloud account then add it back.

  • HT202860 changed my apple id now can't access iPhoto

    changed apple id
    can not access photos

To use applications that are associated with your old AppleID, you need to sign into the AppStore with the old AppleID, if you need to update the apps or reinstall them.
Is the problem that you need to update to iPhoto 9.6.1 and cannot?
Do you  iPhoto on the Purchases tab of the AppStore, when you sign into the AppStore with your old AppleID?
You may need to unhide your Purchases as described here at this link:  Mac App Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases
If you see the apps among your Purchases, try this User Tip:
Get iPhoto 9.6.1 if you didn't update before OS... | Apple Support Communities
The main idea is to move the iPhoto app to the Trash, so Spotlight does not see it as installed, reload the AppStore, and then to try to download again from the App Store - from your Purchases tab, not from the main page, since you can neither buy iPhoto nor update it, but you can reinstall, if your AppleID is associated with it.

  • Extended network, now can ONLY access extension...?

I extended the wireless range of my Time Capsule using an Airport Express. The Express is working perfectly in it's location, however my devices can no longer access the same network name when in range of the Time Capsule. They can only access when in the Airport Express area.
    Why would this be?

Some devices need the proverbial kick... turn off the wireless and turn it back on again..
If that doesn't work then take more control of the network.. set different names for the 2.4ghz and 5ghz band.. set the channels.. make sure new names are short, no spaces and pure alphanumeric. eg TC24ghz and TC5ghz. You will be able then to choose which band you will to use for link between the TC and the Express.

  • MySQL port open in Leopard firewall (and in ipfw) but can't access

    Hi There,
I'm trying to allow MySQL access to a Mac Mini dev server I've setup using MAMP Pro. I've installed OS 10.5 server because I couldn't open a port manually using the Terminal under a Snow Leopard client install.
    *MAMP Pro:*
    - "Allow local access only" is unticked under MySQL
    *Leopard Server Admin:*
    - MySQL port 3306 is open for "any"
    - I can also see it's open if I run this from the terminal "$ sudo ipfw list"
    *Querious Database App:*
    - If I try to connect to the database from a client machine using Querious via 3306 or tunnel via ssh I can't connect
    *Network Utility:*
    - If I do a port scan from my client machine no ports are open on the Mac Mini
    *Other info:*
    - Stealth mode is off
    - The Firewall is the only service which is running in Server Admin
    - I can connect via ssh/terminal from this same client machine
    - I'm just trying to connect on a local network (so not through a router etc)
Obviously I thought this would be much simpler than it is! Are there other things that need to be configured - do I have to forward the port onto MAMP Pro somehow?
Not sure how it all works sorry so any help would be much appreciated.
    Cheers
    Ben

    Hi Ben,
I have done some brief digging on MAMP and it would appear that you're trying to override the inherent features in OS X Server by using MAMP instead. Apache, MySQL and PHP are all inherent parts of OS X Server, minus the unified interface of MAMP. (phpMyAdmin is open-source and can be installed independently.) This may have been necessary on a non-server (client) version of OS X, but not for Server. As Harry pointed out, removing those elements from OS X Server are not simple tasks and you would be far better off using the built-in versions over trying to bypass them to run MAMP.
3306 is the default port for MySQL, so your pings are reaching the mysql service. You may run into the same problem as I did when trying to establish external connections to mysql from anywhere other than on the host machine (whether that be across a LAN or via the Internet though PHP commands to the mysql service) since requests from anything other than the localhost will be rejected. Working around that with MAMP is not well documented. phpMyAdmin doesn't get under the hood to make the changes needed to allow requests from other hosts.
The MAMP documentation is also lacking on how one can get under the hood of its mysql service, other than that you can access it through Terminal at:
    /Applications/MAMP/Library/bin/mysql
in which case all normal mysql commands should work when working in that directory:
    +/Applications/MAMP/Library/bin/mysql --host=localhost -uroot -proot+
All in all, though, I think it would be far easier to use the built-in versions. OS X Server is configured to work with what is already there and Apple's support documentation is built around that. Trying to get MAMP working means that you're pretty much on your own trying to figure out the whats, hows and whys when things aren't working. The Server Admin application gives you access to all those services (at least at a base level, excluding phpMyAdmin).
For 10.5 Server, the built-in version of MySQL is 5.0.91; PHP version is 5.2.14; Apache version is 2.2.14, all of which are mostly-current, stable releases.
I don't have any /mysql/msql directories inside the /var/ directory.
That is really odd, as they should be there for an installation of Server.

  • Help! I installed the wrong firmware and now can't access the camera to change it back!

I have done something silly and wonder if you can help to get me out of a fix. Yesterday I upgraded the firmware of my camera and I can no longer see the camera on the network, even when it is connected by a wired connection. I have tried a hard reset but that has not helped.
I now realise that I have upgraded with firmware via a link from the US website and it is a different firmware version to the UK site. It is also designated as a  RoSh version (although I do not understand the significance of this). Presumably US networks are set up differently to EU ones?
I upgraded the firmware from version 1.10 to version 1.25 (RoSh). The European firmware upgrade is designated as version 1.21.
The only way forward that I can see is to find a network that will recognise the camera and then change the firmware back to the European one.  Any ideas?

Whats the Model number of your Camera. As you have uploaded the wrong firmware of your Camera. I think you can download the Latest firmware from the European website and upgrade the firmware of your Camera using TFTP tool utility.
Go to ftp.linksys.com/pub/network... and download TFTP.exe File on your computer. Once done connect your camera to the Computer and provide a Static IP to your computer.
Double click the tftp.exe file and click run :
For Server- Enter the IP Address of the router that you assigned.  By default, the router is 192.168.1.115...
For Password- Enter the password you assigned the camera. By default, the camera’s password is “admin”.
For File- Click the triple “…” button and browse for the .bin firmware file...Click Upgrade button to start upgrading.  A progress bar should show up to show the progress.
Once the Upgrade is done press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your camera, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your camera...

iTunes 10 for Mac- Update and restore software on iPod, iPhone, or iPad
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
    iOS- Understanding passcodes
If you have forgotten your Restrictions code, then follow the instructions
below but DO NOT restore any previous backup. If you do then you will
simply be restoring the old Restrictions code you have forgotten. This
same warning applies if you need to restore a clean system.
A Complete Guide to Restore or Recover Your iDevice (if You Forget Your Passcode)
If you need to restore your device or ff you cannot remember the passcode, then you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and re-sync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.
Try restoring the iOS device if backing up and erasing all content and settings doesn't resolve the issue. Using iTunes to restore iOS devices is part of standard isolation troubleshooting. Restoring your device will delete all data and content, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar information, and will restore all settings to their factory condition.
Before restoring your iOS device, Apple recommends that you either sync with iTunes to transfer any purchases you have made, or back up new data (data acquired after your last sync). If you have movie rentals on the device, see iTunes Store movie rental usage rights in the United States before restoring.
Follow these steps to restore your device:
         1. Verify that you are using the latest version of iTunes before attempting to update.
         2. Connect your device to your computer.
         3. Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes under Devices.
         4. Select the Summary tab.
         5. Select the Restore option.
         6. When prompted to back up your settings before restoring, select the Back Up
option (see in the image below). If you have just backed up the device, it is not
             necessary to create another.
         7. Select the Restore option when iTunes prompts you (as long as you've backed up,
you should not have to worry about restoring your iOS device).
         8. When the restore process has completed, the device restarts and displays the Apple
             logo while starting up:
After a restore, the iOS device displays the "Connect to iTunes" screen. For updating
to iOS 5 or later, follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant. For earlier versions of
iOS, keep your device connected until the "Connect to iTunes" screen goes away or
              you see "iPhone is activated."
         9. The final step is to restore your device from a previous backup.
If you can not restore your device then you will need to go to recovery mode.
Placing your device into recovery mode:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
         1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the other end
of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
         2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the
red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake
and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake
              and Home buttons.
         3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device.
The device should turn on. Note: If you see the screen pictured below, let the device
charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some charge, and then
             start with step 2 again.
         4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.
When this screen appears you can release the Home button.
         5. If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:
         6. Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
    Additional Information:
Note: When using recovery mode, you can only restore the device. All user content on the device will be erased, but if you had previously synced with iTunes on this computer, you can restore from a previous backup. See this article for more information.
