Changed settings now its messed up

Hello...3 days ago I was changing my privacy settings for my FB and some of my apps games I play on FB on my iPhone...I went onto my laptop and into my FB and I wasn't able to even get into some of my games and I couldn't even post anything on my wall since I did all these changes I did or so it seems...so I went back into my iPhone and changed everything back and I still couldn't do anything on my laptop in my FB...so this started making me think its something with FB itself...but everyone I talked to wasn't having a problem just me. So I can't figure out what I did. But I'm not sure its not FB either. I went into iTunes yesterday and encrypted my iPhone to my laptop first I backed it up then I encrypted it. So I'm wondering if I should maybe restore my iPhone and what actually happens when I restore it...what do I lose and all...or is there a way to restore my back up from before 3 days ago...I'm not sure if it's something I did or its FB but its driving me crazy...Appreciate any help if anyone can offer anything please

First of all I'm not a dude...and how many people have to look at it and not 1 of them even reply with something...blackberry was nicer...and lastly...learn how to spell and maybe I'd be able to make sense out of your last reply...dude

  • Tried 2 reset my phone 2factory settings now its jus an apple on the screen

i tryd 2 reset my phone 2 factory settings now its just an apple on the screen and wont load or do anything can anyone help?

You will have to force the phone into recovery mode:
Turn the phone off using the Sleep/Wake button, then the slide to power off. If you are unable to do that, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When your phone turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons. Then, leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, iTunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new.

  • Never had a restrictions passcode, can't change settings now

Hi, hoping someone can help figure out what I'm doing wrong.
I've only just updated my iPad to ios 6 and it now asks me for a restrictions password when i need to change any location settings.
The previous operating systems I had never had any restrictions passwords and it doesn't accept the only four digit code that I ever use.
I have restored from scratch and it still asks for a password which I have never set up before.
How am i supposed to change location settings now if this restrictions passcode that I've never set up won't let me through?
Any help would be awesome! This has been really, really frustrating and I won't be buying any more Apple products if this stupid issue can't be fixed unfortunately! Sick of it
    Cheers

Yeah, I'm definitely on the latest and greatest.
I've also trashed Pref's to no avail. Thanks for the tip on dragging the clip into the L&C window. Very useful. That's why I love this place. Thanks.
Let me know if you can do that when you get done capturing.
-Also something else I've noticed. Previously I could also click on the Reel column of a captured clip and change the reel name if I needed to. Since 5.1 I can no longer do this as well. Major pain the butt b/c I have an absent minded shooter that always wants to capture his own footage but never remembers to put his reel names in. In the past I could clean up after him. Now I can't do this.

  • Some one messed with my battry settings, now its ****ed, help.

    hello all.
i have a friend who is a mac fanboy, he knows all these tricks of getting around a mac, and he was showing me some things with my battry settigns, how to show how much time left, and so on.
but later that day, and ever since, instead of my mac warning me its got hardly any power left, and instead of going to sleep it turns off instead.
1- what did the guy do? he doesnt know either
2- is there away to restore the system defaults to sort this out, with out doing anythign to my hard drive applications, music and so on.

    Hello mx:
If we had some idea of what he did, we could trash some preference files. Since we do not, I think I would opt for an archive and install:

You should, of course, back up your system before any software changes.

  • Listing order and dates of my photos have all changed and now it is a mess in my photo library! I tried to list them again by date, but it didn't fix the problem. What to do?

Listing order and dates of my photos have all changed and now it is a mess in my photo library! I tried to list them again by date, but it didn't fix the problem. What to do?

If your preferences keep getting messed up try this:   make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

The first thing to do with a second-hand computer is to erase the internal drive and install a clean copy of OS X. You — not the previous owner — must do that. How you do it depends on the model, and on whether you already own another Mac. If you're not sure of the model, enter the serial number on this page. Then find the model on this page to see what OS version was originally installed.
    1. You don't own another Mac.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.4 or 10.5, you need a boxed and shrink-wrapped retail Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6) installation disc from the Apple Store or a reputable reseller — not from eBay or anything of the kind. If the machine has less than 1 GB of memory, you'll need to add more in order to install 10.6. Preferably, install as much memory as it can take, according to the technical specifications.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.6, you need the installation media that came with it: gray installation discs, or a USB flash drive for some MacBook Air models. For early MBA models, you may need a USB optical drive or Remote Disc. You should have received the media from the previous owner, but if you didn't, order replacements from Apple. A retail disc, or the gray discs from another model, will not work.
To boot from an optical disc or a flash drive, insert it, then reboot and hold down the C key at the startup chime. Release the key when you see the gray Apple logo on the screen.
If the machine shipped with OS X 10.7 or later, you don't need media. It should boot into Internet Recovery mode when you hold down the key combination option-command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a spinning globe.
    2. You do own another Mac.
If you already own another Mac that was upgraded in the App Store to the version of OS X that you want to install, and if the new Mac is compatible with it, then you can install it. Use Recovery Disk Assistant to create a bootable USB device and boot the new Mac from it by holding down the C key at the startup chime. Alternatively, if you have a Time Machine backup of OS X 10.7.3 or later on an external hard drive (not a Time Capsule or other network device), you can boot from that by holding down the option key and selecting it from the row of icons that appears. Note that if your other Mac was never upgraded in the App Store, you can't use this method.
Once booted in Recovery, launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the internal drive — not any of the volume icons nested beneath it. In the Partition tab, select the default options: a GUID partition table with one data volume in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format. This operation will permanently remove all existing data on the drive.
After partitioning, quit Disk Utility and run the OS X Installer. You will need the Apple ID and password that you used to upgrade. When the installation is done, the system will automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant, which will prompt you to transfer the data from another Mac, its backups, or from a Windows computer. If you have any data to transfer, this is usually the best time to do it.
Then run Software Update and install all available system updates from Apple. To upgrade to a major version of OS X newer than 10.6, get it from the Mac App Store. Note that you can't keep an upgraded version that was installed by the previous owner. He or she can't legally transfer it to you, and without the Apple ID you won't be able to update it in Software Update or reinstall, if that becomes necessary. The same goes for any App Store products that the previous owner installed — you have to repurchase them.
If the previous owner "accepted" the bundled iLife applications (iPhoto, iMovie, and Garage Band) in the App Store so that he or she could update them, then they're linked to that Apple ID and you won't be able to download them without buying them. Reportedly, Apple customer service has sometimes issued redemption codes for these apps to second owners who asked.
If the previous owner didn't deauthorize the computer in the iTunes Store under his Apple ID, you wont be able to  authorize it immediately under your ID. In that case, you'll either have to wait up to 90 days or contact iTunes Support.

    Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

My dvd player will not let me change regions, it says i have one more chance to change it, then it just quits when i do, now its stuck on region 1. Any thoughts how i can solve this problem or get round it in some way?

Usually if you have some kind of hardware failure there is some beeping during POST or most motherboards now have LED indicators to produce and error message based on the type of failure
So if its bad memory, not place properly, mismatched, processor not inserted properly, mismatched voltage or voltage connector not present etc it beeps or generates the error id.
Power supplies can be tested for failure. There are some walk throughs for testing just them with a switch, paperclip or a jumper (I'd suggest not doing this if you are not familiar with the dangers of electricity).
Memory can be tested with memory diagnostics programs like Memtest+
Processors can overheat if the proper precautions have not been taken usually you will get a POST beep or error code for that.
If the motherboard has no response then do the basics first:
Check power connectors and power supply. Once you determine that is not the case move on to other items like graphics cards in all the way or memory.

When I use find file http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/30073/find-file (which does tend to find files that "Finder" can't), it's not coming up with any other itunes library files that have been modified in the past week, which I know it would have been - unfortunately, I don't have a very recent backup of the hard drive.  It would be a few months old so it wouldn't have the complete library on it....any ideas?  I'm wondering if restarting the computer might help but have been afraid to do so in case it would make it harder to recover anything...I was looking at this thread https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4211589?start=0&tstart=0 in the hopes that it might have a helpful suggestion but it's definitely a different scenario.

For a "hard" restart of your iPad just press the home and power button at the same time and hold it for at least 10-15 sec. until it restarts.
