Changed startup sequence with OS 3

after upgrading both my iphones (2G and 3G) show a different startup sequence.
with 2.2.1:
- apple logo
- 1st page of summerboard with message "SIM Locked: OK or Unlock".
- to unlock the SIM i type the password......
with 3.0:
- apple logo
- the screen turns black for an instance
- comes directly in locked position showing the wallpaper getting a message "SIM Locked".
- after unsliding i get a message "SIM Locked: OK or Unlock". to unlock the SIM i type the password......
is this a new security feature, is there a option to disable this ?

Gulliver,
great, it worked.
What I did:
- remove
com.apple.BezelServices.plist
com.apple.ATS.plist
from the preferences folder als described in your article.
- repair again permissions
Restart.
Result:
- Safari starts up and is faster
- Mail and adressbook start up again
- photoshop CS 2 starts Up
- Illusterator CS 2 Starts Up
So all is solved.
Thanks a lot.
Absolutely recommendable tipp page!

  • Can't use MS keyboard to change startup sequence

I'm using a MS Ergonomic Natural Keyboard 4000 with my Mac Pro (10.6.1); I can't select alternate sequences during the startup (Option to choose the startup device, or Cmd-Shift-Option-Delete to automatically select a FW external drive).
One place told me that third-party devices weren't recognized early enough in the startup sequence to change the startup drive, this is sort of what MS also told me, they said I needed to make sure the USB keyboard option (or something similarly named) was activated in the BIOS…(do Macs even have BIOS?)
Anyway if someone knows of a workaround (other than changing the startup drive in the System Preferences) that would be great.

That ability is reserved for Macs that don't already have a built-in optical drive.
I bet you probably looked at some of the guides online telling you to edit a plist file that supposedly unlocks the ability to create a bootable USB drive on a Mac that has a SuperDrive. But that's all it does. It doesn't change anything else about the process of Boot Camp Assistant creating the partition and requiring installation be done with the SuperDrive. All that modification does is literally "un-gray" a checkbox.
Is it annoying that the SuperDrive must be used? No doubt, especially since this restriction was in not in place for older Macs. This is something that Apple would have to address via an SMC or other update, but the odds of that happening are less than those of you winning the Power Ball. It's a restriction you'll have to live with, unless you want to "upgrade" to a Retina display model.

  • Correct startup sequence with external display/keyboard/mouse etc

Most laptop vendors have docking stations or other devices that enable you to use the laptop with the lid closed in conjunction with an external display/keyboard/mouse etc.
Since no such beast exists for the MBP, what is the correct startup sequence for the MBP to do the same thing? Do you plug some parts in first before/after initial power on then others later or what?
Also, the resolution on my external display is much greater than what the MBP provides with its monitor. Will I be limited to comparable resolution on the external monitor or can/will the video card sense and use (to its limits of course) the potential resolution of the external display??
    Thanks

  • Yosemite - Changed Startup Sequence

I noticed the start-up sequence has changed in Yosemite. Rather than going from a progress bar indicator to the login window, Yosemite presents you with the login window right away, i.e.: as soon as the machine is switched on --and I kind of like this new arrangement. Unfortunately, though, I had to re-install Yosemite and now the start-up sequence has gone back to its TRADITIONAL mode (i.e.: progress bar followed by login window). Does anybody know how I can get  the system to revert to the NEW start-up sequence?

Brilliant, thanks! ... and happy new year!

  • WES Startup sequence events

    Hi All,
I'm going to try my best to explain my situation.  I have a Windows Embedded Standard 7 deployment released right now which boots up and runs fine.  I just want to tweak the startup sequence of events, if possible.
We've written all the software that runs at startup from the services to the explorer shell replacement.
I have 2 videos for you to watch.
    1) Explorer embedded start up for our device (Admin access only):
    http://youtu.be/Ge4otXvOUvY
As you can see, I have to halt the auto login and enter the Admin user and password manually to login to the Admin account where explorer runs.  What I want you to take notice here after I begin login, is the full screen black-to-blue background with
the typical Windows loading spinner running (This is Windows loading, not any of my software).  This spinner and background stays on the screen until Explorer is loaded and is ready to be displayed to the user.  There is no time where the user thinks
    something isn't happening.
    2) Normal embedded start up for our device:
    http://youtu.be/4nL0uuXuqYo
As you can see, upon starting up, and our standard user automatic login, Winlogon displays a full screen black-to-blue background with the typical loading spinner running.  After some time, this fades out and displays the users desktop background color
of red.  At this moment in time our explorer shell replacement is still loading and is not yet visible to the user, so the user keeps seeing the red screen for some time while it loads, then without warning our explorer shell replacement is loaded and
is displayed on screen to notify the user the system is starting/doing something.
So my question is: Is there some events that our explorer shell replacement can hook onto and also trigger and event to Winlogon when the application knows its loaded and visible and the full screen loading spinner will fade out and you'll immediately see
our explorer shell replacement INSTEAD of now where it's a red background for some time?
I've found an article explaining a little about how you can change the sequence of applications that run found
here but I haven't given it a try yet.  I wanted to get community feedback first.
Let me know if you need any more clarifications on this.
    Thanks.

You can enable wallpaper with a custom shell. There was a post some time ago on the forum and it is in Chapter 7 of my book:
Copy the wallpaper image file to a convenient folder in the file system. Example c:\users\test\Documents\myimage.bmp.
Use Reg.exe to set up the registry:
    REG ADD "HKCU\Control Panel\Desktop" /v Wallpaper /d C:\users\test\Documents\myimage.bmp
    Finally call user32.dll:
    rundll32 user32.dll,UpdatePerUserSystemParameters
You make the call to user32.dll on startup each and every time.

  • How Do I Change My Sequence Settings to Match My Clip

    Hello -
I shot some footage in SD with a frame size of 16:9. When I dragged a clip into my first sequence, FCP asked 'if I wanted the Sequence to assume the properties of the clip?' I hit 'yes' which changed the sequence to match my clip. However, when I created a new sequence(in the same project) and dragged a clip into it, FCP did not prompt me with the option to change the sequence settings. Now, I have a 4:3 sequence with a letterbox 16:9 clip. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Thanks for your help!

  • Startup problem with Lion OS 10.7.3

Just recently, I've been experiencing a startup problem with Lion. I don't usually have any issues running my Mac, so I'm at a loss why this is happening now.
I have an Intel Mac Pro running 10.7.3. I usually leaving my Mac running all the time and only restart when the need arises. In addition to being my main computer, this mac alsocontrols a MacMini that serves as a music server thru screen sharing.
This past weekend, I restarted my Mac and could not get past the grey screen. The mac chimes, the apple logo appears with the spinning gear, the blue screen briefly appears, but instead of progressing to the desktop it reverts to the grey screen with a repeating cycle of the spinning gear appearing (spins for a while, stops, disappears, reppears spinning, stops, disappears, over and over) - never progressing beyond that stage.
I decided to reinstall the system and things have been fine for the past few days. Today, restarting again resulting in the same problem.
I've tried several things without success. I disconnected all peripherals, reset the PRAM/SMC, ran Disk Utility from a install volume and ran repair and permissions (no problems reported). Tried safe mode startup - a progress bar appeared but never fully progressed and could not get to the desktop.
Recent changes included updating the OS to 10.7.3 and Adobe Photoshop CS5.5 - no recent hardware changes. No bluetooth devices connected.
    Any thoughts? Thanks -

    Thanks -
I've reinstalled the OS today and am back up and running.
But, since this is twice this has happened within the past week, I'm worried about might be causing this issue - besides bad luck. My Mac is usually rock solid - can't remember the last time I've had to reinstall the OS in the past few generations of OS X.

  • FCP 7 crashes when choosing "yes" to changing of sequence settings for Flip

I've been doing quite a bit of work with the Flip HD video camera recently. I grew tired of rendering everything, so decided it was time to finally upgrade from FCP 5 to FCP 7.
However, FCP 7 crashes every time I try to lay down video files from the Flip camera onto a timeline.
Upon laying the files down onto the timeline, I am prompted with the message asking if I want to change the sequence settings to match the video. I click yes and immediately get "General Error" and FCP crashes.
I tried trashing the preferences. same result.
I tried updating FCP 7 to FCP 7.0.1. same result.
I even tried updating fixes for iMovie as if that would have anything to do with it. same result.
I'm currently rendering it out the same way I had been in FCP 5.
    Any advice or ideas?

AVC is h.264, which is not a work-able editing format, it's a delivery format (and a consumer video camera acquisition format suitable for holiday videos going straight to YouTube), that's why you've been having to render all the time in FCP 5.
Now you're in FCP 7 and it's asking if you want to change the sequence settings to match the video, but there is no sequence setting to match AVC/h.264 so it's freaking your computer out. Still, it shouldn't crash, but that's the problem i believe.
You need to correct your work-flow by transcoding your media into something usable like ProRes, or you can choose not to change your sequence settings, and render the timeline as you have been doing in the past.

  • Imported PSD files showing up as images rather than sequences with layers

I am trying to import layered photoshop files (.PSD) into FCP 6, but they are not showing up in my browser as sequences with a video track dedicated to each layer, like the manual says they should. They show up instead as still images. It worked once on a previous project, but not any more and I haven't changed any FCP settings or Photoshop settings that I am aware of since then.
If any can tell me how to import them as layered sequences, I would greatly appreciate it!
Please note: I already confirmed the image mode is RGB colour and that the bit depth is 8 as someone suggested in a December 10th post to someone with a similar problem.
    Rookie

Tom W, Meg the Dog & David H,
David H - No, they wouldn't open as sequences when I double clicked them.
Meg the Dog - I confirmed the settings you suggested and noticed that a few of the images I wanted to import were over that 4000 pixel width restriction you mentioned, however, without resampling them, I was able to import them...but only after Tom W's suggestion...
Tom - I'm glad you raised the point about photos edited in Photoshop on a PC versus a Mac. My photos were in fact edited on my PC, and it wasn't until I opened them and re-saved them on my Mac, that I was able to import them as a sequence into FCP. Thank you so much for pointing this out!
Problem solved! Thank you so much Tom W, Meg the Dog and David H!

  • Change the sequence settings from NTSC 30 fps to PAL 25 fps, is possible?

    Hello,
I have a finished project that was make in a sequence with the format NTSC 30 fps. Now I need to change that sequence and the project to PAL 25 fps. I have changed the settings of the source secuence to PAL 25, but in the resulting sequence the audio and the videos are different in time and speed.
With the videos I have make a match frame to find the source, but with the audios I have problems. ¿There is a automatic proccess in final cut pro 7.0 that could make a translation of a finished sequence that was developed in NTSC 30 ftp to a PAL 25 fps?
Can you give me a tip or something to make the trasnlation ?
    Thanks in advance

Sorry...but it isn't as simple as changing a project frame rate. FCP is NOT good at mixing frame rates. And when you put NTSC footage (29.97fps), into a PAL timeline (25fps), that is exactly what you are doing. No, this won't work. No magic solution for this (although Avid MC5 does this nicely).
You are going to have to export a QT file, and let Compressor tackle this job (and it will take a WHILE, and you will have to run a few tests to see if your settings work to your satisfaction), or take that QT file to a post house with a Terranex or Snell/Wilcox to do the conversion ($$$$)...or output to tape AND THEN do the Terranex thing.
    No easy button here.

  • Changing selection sequence for logical database

    Hi,
One of my current report is using logical database PNP. The users are satisfy with the standard selection screen. However they would like me to change the sequence of the selection field. Example, current sequence is Personnel number, company code, employee subarea. They would like it be Personnel number, employee subarea, company code.
Is there any way I can change the sequence of the selection screen? I tried using report catagory but it don't allow me to change the sequence. Please advise.
    Regards,
    Lanwu

Rich is correct.. but there is a workaround..
Use the Report Category that suppresses all the selection fields.. I the program deifne your selection screen with the fields in your own order preference. In the STARt-OF-SELECTION event.. pass the values entered to the PNP fileds.. ie suppoes you have declared S_PERNR ( for Pers No), then use PNPPERNR[] = s_pernr[]. This way you will not have to change the LDB program..

  • Deployment order of MDBs vs EJBs in WL startup sequence

This is a problem that follows on from my last posting.
To recap, we have multiple WL servers not clustered, one acts as the JMS server that
all of them use as their MDB jndi-provider-url so when a message (on a JMS topic)
is published to the main server, all the WL servers receive it.
The main WL server acting as the JMS server is started up first, then the others.
              The following problem can occur.
A message can arrive at the main server while another server is booting up. The MDBs
on this booting server can deploy it's MDBs before it's EJBs. Because this server
is subscribing using the JMS server on the main server, the message is delivered
and the onMessage() method is called. But this method may have to do lookups on EJBs
that have not been deployed yet.
So the question is, is it possible to ensure that all the EJBs deploy before the
MDBs in a WL startup sequence? Does it require two separate JAR files to control
the order, or can you control the order within a JAR file or have you simply no control
              over the order at all?
              Regs,

When you say the text shrinks when you change the size of the window, do you mean in terms of making the window smaller / zooming out from the page so that for instance you can see more of the "page" that you're working on?
If so then that's by design and is how it's always been. The view you see in Word is designed to represent what would appear on the page if you printed it, so relative to the page the text remains the same size. If you change the page so that you can see
more of it, eg effectively zooming out, then the size of the text must shrink. It's no different to holding a physical document in front of you, if you move the paper further away from you so the page looks smaller, the text will as well.
On the other hand if you mean when you make the window smaller, eg displaying less of the grey space on either side, that the page and text shrink then I don't know what you mean. Which version of Word are you using? I've tried with Word documents in Word
2010 and Word 2013, and in both cases simply changing the size of the document window does nothing to the view of the document (other than make it impossible to read all the test on a line without scrolling if I go too far.
