Changed the artist name of all of my iTunes library by mistake
Found an album that listed the artist name as mixed. I selected the songs in that album to change the artist name and wound up setting the artist name for all of the songs in my library to that one artist. I was able to recover from a time machine backup, but the information on the cloud using iTunes match is not correct. I have since then signed out of my account until I hear back from Apple. Any clues? No undo.....

If neither of the above and you don't have the CD and can't find your tracks on the computer then they you're stuck. A file recovery utility will cost $100, plus another $100 for an external drive to which to resue the files, and may not even work. You can buy a lot of CDs for $200.

These were all songs I had ripped from old CDs, lot of which, I no longer have. I can't remember that artists' names for all these songs. They are all "oldies" from the fifties and I just accidentally changed the artist for all them to Fats Domino. I'd had them all highlighted because I had done a batch change of their genre to Oldies. I couldn't tell that they were all still highlighted after that change because I could only see two of the songs at the time that I changed the artist name. Is there any possible way to undo this? All the tracks are still highlighted from the naming operation. I can't search for the artists' names online because I didn't purchase them from iTunes. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I found one other way to do it. I just deleted them all out of my iTunes library. Now I can re-import them from Window's My Music file with the original artists' names intact.

I just started using my IPod and I downloaded my library. I accidently changed the artist names for an entire genre category and I can't undo it. I read all the edit help stuff and I either can't select items to edit or I'm an idiot and I can't figure it out. I keep trying and I get a pop up that asks me if I want to change multiple items.
Did you ever resolve the iCloud problem.I am in the same position and its driving me mad!!! If you have a link to an solution I would appreciate it.

Same way you select multipl items anywhere else.
Hold ctrl and click the items you want.
If they are in consecutive order, click the 1st then Shift click the last. -

I am probably missing something easy, but I would appreciate any help you can give. I have downloaded many songs from the internet that were in compilation albums and the artist name on I-tunes shows up as "various artists." I know the correct artist names, but I can't figure out how to change it, so that I can sort by artist name. Tt will let me change the title, but not the artist. help please!

How do I change the artist name when producing the Podcast for release
I submit my podcast, and I automatically become the artist, although I am not. I am posting the podcast with my account for my business. Everything is working fine but the artist listing. I need it to be correct so that it will show up correctly in podcast searches.
JKYou can't change anything in iTunes: all infomation is carried in the feed, in this case in the 'itunes:author' tag. there will certainly be somewhere to enter it but if you can't find it you will need to contacts Libsyn; or quite possible Rob Walch, who works for them and posts here, will see this question.

Itunes changes the file names of all of my music when I connect my ipod...
When I open up itunes on my computer, everything looks fine. All of my music is there and I don't have any "!" by any songs. When I connect my ipod Touch and it syncs, then many of my songs have an "!" by them and if they don't have an "!" by them, they do when I click on them to get info. The file name on the "get info." page is adding "file:/localhost/" in front of the real filename path and therefore causing me to get the message that says: The song "__" could not be used b/c the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?"
I don't want to go and find each & every file AGAIN....what is wrong with this thing & what do I need to do to fix it once & for all?
THANKS!Typicaly this means you have faulty copies of the music file or that the file has been moved or deleted fromt he origional spot it was downloaded to. Chances are you are going to have to update your i-tunes software and get new copies of every problem file before it willw ork again. If you are using a free version of a file sharing software(limewire,sharbear etc.) your best option would be to pay for it. It's not expensive and when you buy the software they usualy come with a virus protector to prevent you from getting bad copeis of the file.

I am using Match. I have tried Tagalicious, as well as a script someone wrote to fix metadata, but they only caught about a third of the mis-tagged songs. Can anyone suggest a way to fix all of the metadata? Is there some kind of automated Shazam type thing that will analyze the track and identify it and update the tags?

Can I change the name of the genre for an artist without changing the genre on every single song? Is it possible to change the genre name for all songs by an artist by just typing in the new genre for that artist just once?

Yes and no.
You can select all the tracks you wish to change the Genre of and change them all at once. Then choose File>Get Info or type command-i.
You'll be warned that are about to edit information for multiple items.
Click OK. Then make you Genre change.
Just remember any field you change will be changed in all the selected items.

Why do I receive the exclamation point when I just change the album name? File goes missing?
I keep all of my itunes media on an attached network hard drive. Had no problems for months but over the past 45 days I've noticed that material has started to go missing that I know I did not delete. I have found no malware on my system.
I read a script to tell me all the files that had an exclamation point. There were some TV shows (an entire season gone missing) and some CDs.
I just did a test and imported a CD. I then clicked "get info" and changed the name of the album. Immediately I received the exclamation point and when I tried to find the original file it is gone. I have no idea where the file has gone to. I've tried searching, looking around to find it, and I can't.
Why is itunes having this behavior? How is the file being deleted? Any other thoughts or ideas of what I should do to stop this?
I've also sent a support request to the hard drive mfg (lacie) but I'm not sure I'll get much help there.
Thanks.More info: I just ran the same test two ways. One, I had some files on my desktop, run a script to move these files to the "automatically add to itunes" folder, the files move just fine to my external hard drive and to itunes. The file plays just fine and the "get info" tab shows it is playing the file from the external hard drive where the file was moved to (not copied). But, as soon as I change the artist name or the album, the file goes missing and I get the exclamation point.
I ran the same test by putting the files on my desktop, but instead of moving the file to the "automatically add to itunes folder" I just double clicked the file to play it. I let itunes add a copy and organize my folders. This time, the file would have been copied (not physically moved) and I see itunes is playing the new copied version. This time, when I try to change the artist name or album, I have no problems.

How do I change the artist of an album on my iPhone?
I bought a new album a couple days ago and my phone lists the artist as "unknown". I switched my iPhone's settings on iTunes so I can manage my music manually and deleted the album. Then I loaded it again and it still says the artist is unknown. How do I get it to recognize the artist name? All of the information on my iTunes library is correct, it's just the iPhone that won't recognize the artist.
Right-click on the songs in the album in iTunes on your computer, select "Get Info", go to the Info tab and make sure the Artist field correctly shows the name of the Artist. If on your phone in Settings>Music you also have Group By Album Artist turned On, you will also want to be sure the song tags show the artist name in the Album Artist field. Make any necessary corrections to the song tags then sync your phone and see if it's correct now.

Issues after changing the AP Name on Wireless LAN Controller
I recently changed the AP Name of all the Wireless Access Points in my branch office (which are all associated to the branch office Wireless LAN Controller(s)). After that I noticed that all branch office employees are unable to connect to the employee SSID. The employee SSID uses web authentication and employees are authenticated using Head Office AD via Cisco ACS, both located at the Head Office.
There are other SSID's on the WLC which all work fine, but only employee SSID which uses AD authentication does not work. AD authenticaion is working fine because employee's in HO are successfully able to connect to the employee SSID at HO.
The branch office is connected to the HO via a tunnel link. We noticed that if we restart both the ASA at either ends of the tunnel. The employee SSID starts working again but only temporarily for a day or so... what could be the issue? Can renaming the AP's cause issues? How can I fix this problem?

Artist name not showing up in itunes
I just imported an album and the artist names didn't appear in itunes. So, I selected all the songs and added the artist names in the Get Info window. They still don't show in the list on itunes, but they do now show in the info windows of individual songs. Ideas? Here is how the artist names are listed: Frances Clark, Louise Goss, Sam Holland

Try this:
1. Select all of your songs, (click the first song then hold down shift and click the last song).
2. Once that is done right click the highlighted songs and click get info.
3. A message will pop up asking if you want to change info for multiple songs select yes.
4. Once your in this get info screen go to the album artist field and type in all of the artists in that field (make sure you put them in the order you want to see them listed in the itunes libary).
5. When your finished select ok and you're done!
(NOTE: *an easy way to see the album artist is by going to the top of the itunes window and you should see three buttons with the word view under them and select the middle button, now you can view all of your albums songs & artwork under the artwork should be the artists name(s).)
