Changed the Power Supply, but now just get a Yellow Trickle LED

and no start up. Did I do something wrong? Did the reset on the Logic Board and nothing.  Should I take it all apart and try again?

I do actually, that's how I changed the original power supply.  I even tightened the screws in order and stuff.  I actually talked to a tech in NYC at Digital Society and he felt the Logic Board was shot. I have decided to stop investing money into the thing and buy a Mac Pro.  Anyone need a new Power Supply? or have a good logic board they don't need.... lol

Thanks a lot for your swift response. And sorry if it was a bit too hectic to go through my detailed query (which I did because it was misunderstood when I asked previously). As I've mentioned above, I was informed that updating to 5.0.1 would '''require''' me to '''delete''' the current version and then install the new one. And doing so will involve losing all my bookmarks. I guess I should have been more specific and detailed there. By losing, I didn't mean losing them forever. I'm aware that they're secured in some place and deleting and installing the software doesn't harm its existence. What I meant that if I install the new version, I'd have to delete the old one. And after installing the new version, I'd have to transfer them (bookmarks) back from wherever they are. Get it? When it updated from 3.6.9 to 3.6.13, and from 3.6.13 to 3.6.18, I didn't need to follow that process. They were already present on their own.
BTW, I'm having no problems with 3.6.18 but after learning about the existence of version 5.0.1, I'm a bit too eager to lay my hands over it.
Thanks for your help; hope this wasn't extremely long.

  • How to change the power supply to the CD/DVD Drive so that it is off by default?

When running on battery I often use the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon from XP to "unplug" the Mat****a CD/DVD drive in order to safe some battery life.(Does it?) I use Fn+Tab to bring it back to life. I wonder if there is a way to make my Notebook (M400) boot with the power supply to the Drive off by default. By the way, any idea where I can find the extra battery for the CD/DVD-Drive slot and at which price?
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hello Robert
If you check start page you will see that this support forum is not any kind of Toshiba support directly but user-to-user forum. But you are not alone and many users expect that some Toshiba support team sit in the office and wait to write answers.
Anyway there are many Toshiba notebook users with very good knowledge and also enthusiasts who try to help other guys with different issues and also share own experience.
Professionalism is not forum but action when you need assistance because of hardware damage or something similar. If you need competent answers and help every authorized service partner should be able to give you info you need. But please dont mix service partner and Toshiba because it is not the same.
Anyway I have found info that you can use additional (second expansion battery) and it should be batteries with part numbers PA3510U-1BAL and PA3510U-1BRL. I can not tell you how much it costs but you can find it alone using Google.
Back to your first question: If I am understand you right you want to save more power and because of that you want to disconnect ODD. It is nice idea but you have obviously misunderstood something. "Safely Remove Hardware option is there to help operating system and say this hardware part will be removed and dont exist anymore but it does not mean physically disconnection from other hardware.
If you need more power use second battery and enjoy your life.
If you have more questions you are welcome. Many users here have M400 and I hope in the future some of them will participate a little bit more.
    Have a nice day! :)

  • Is there any way to change the power supply on a hp elite 8100 sff

hello . Is there any way to upgrade the power supply from the  standerd 240W psu . the pc is a hp elite 8100 sff ( quad i7 2.8ghz nvidia quadro 295 nvs and 8 gb ram )

    Joleney-
I do not know of any way to turn off the Sleep button.  If yours does not work, there might be an internal problem like a loose connection in the iPad.
One thing you can try is to hold both the Home and Sleep buttons for several seconds until the Apple logo appears.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" arrow if it appears.  If successful, the iPad will restart after a couple of minutes.
If the Apple logo never appears, it is likely your Sleep button is bad.  If the iPad is still in warranty, show it to an Apple Store Genius.  You may get a replacement iPad if the Genius can not fix it.
If the iPad is out of warranty or there is no Apple Store near you, look for an Apple Authorized Repair Center near you.  There may be one in your city.  If out of warranty, the cost of a repair would most likely be less than Apple's replacement price.  <Apple Authorized Repair Centers>

  • Changed the back case but now no sound or signal

I have just changed the back case on my iphone 3g i have followed guides on how to do this and then done the reverse to put it back together but now when i turn the phone on i get no signal and no sounds. If you plug headphones in you can hear music etc. Anyone know what i can do?

This is a user forum not a technical one, so unfortunately there probably won't be anybody here who has dissassembled an iPhone.
One could only guess that if it is a loose connection, that the no signal could be caused by an antenna not being connected properly, and the speaker issue being related to the cable for the speaker. Due to all the small parts though there could easily have been some damaged caused during reassembly or disassembly.

  • Upgraded to premium but now just get blank screen - nothing happens or liads up

I upgraded last night to premium student, but this morning my Spotify now doesn't work. I'm on a windows phone, Nokia Lumia, always worked fine before. I have uninstalled, reinstalled and it will work the first time upon reinstalling but if I come out of Spotify and try to go back in all I get is a blank black screen, no logo or any loading at all. Within 24hrs of paying I've lost even the free service...not good.

    Hi,
You want to put a Ferrari engine in a Volkswagen and expect to hit top speed?  It's not going to happen.
You need to size the hardware with your application requirements and then determine if your consumer level motherboard will meet your performance expectations.

My 27" Imac (A1312/EMC2390) keeps shutting down unexpectedly with no warning or "screen of death". So far I reset the SMC, and zapped the PRAM. I even replaced the power supply but the problem continues. My error and system logs seem unhelpful too. Can anyone help me out?

You can get a shutdown like that if the computer gets too hot. Make sure the air intakes on the bottom and the exhaust vent on the top are clean and are not blocked by something in your workspace like papers or the back of the computer being too close to part of the furniture. You need a good six inches (15cm) of clearance between the exhaust slot and other objects or surfaces.
Anti-virus/internet security software, especially the "pay for" kinds, can increase operating temps. So can third-party backup software furnished with many "name-brand" external hard drives.
Fan motors and/or temperature sensors can fail. If you have the original grey disks that shipped with your iMac, find the on that has Apple Hardware Test (AHT) and run it. If you have a failed heat sensor or fan motor, it will detect it with an error code containing "SNS" if it's a bad sensor or "MOT" if its a bad fan motor.

  • Does changing a power supply require thermal calibration?

Hi all. I recently changed the power supply on a Late 2005 dual core 2.0 GHz G5 and now the fans are on full bore from startup. Of the 2 fans in the rear of the CPU, only the bottom one (where the 2nd processor would go if it was a quad) was going nuts, the top seemed normal. I swapped that fan with another one and now the top one is spinning away and the bottom seems normal. At first I thought it was only the rear fans but now I think it's all of them. I removed the clear deflector shield, which would normally make the fans kick it up a notch, but they didn't. I think they're already maxed out. The LED on the LB goes off when the clear door is in place so I know it's being seen. It does this with or without a hard drive installed and it does it when booting from an OS disc. I guess my question is: does replacing the PSU require the Apple Service Diagnostic disc? I thought that was only if the CPU was swapped. I put the same one back in. Other than the fans everything is working again. Thanks in advance.

Well, quite frankly, I haven't a clue as to what you might have forgotten. I think that there is a point of no return that you reach where you will need a calibration no matter how you back out, but I don't know what that point is. I've never swapped a PSU in a PMG5.
You, fiveinchwrench, are one of the few brave souls that have both done this an posted your results
I am simply trying to think of things that maybe you haven't. Maybe something is wrong with one of the fans in addition to needing the calibration. I figured that you double and triple checked everything, but it doesn't hurt to ask.
    Luck-

  • How can I replace the power supply IN the time capsule

I have a TimeCapsule that has a bad powersupply. I have opened the timecapsule to confirm this. Has anyone done this before? If so, where did the power supply come from? Cost? I took this to the Apple Igneous bar and they said there is nothing that can be done about it.They said it couldn't even be opened, but simply peeling the rubber bottom off and unscrewing a number of tiny screws and that's it. The 1 TB drive is LOOSE in there. That was a bit of a surprise. I had thought that the issue was the drive itself was bad. I had hoped that if I removed that the AP part would at least work, but after opening it up and firing it up I could hear that the power supply was buzzing thus the conclusion it was the issue.
I am going to put the SATA drive in a reader to see that it is indeed ok. If that checks out, then I know for certain it is the power supply, but I don't know what to use as a sub since the unit needs both 12V and 5V. I'd just as soon find a good supply and use that. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    John A Kostelac

What version is your TC.. A1xxx from the rubber foot?
Power supplies are not available from apple. They do not consider it repairable. It is a sealed consumable.
Power supplies are available from ebay.. simply type time capsule power supply into search.
This is absolutely standard issue that has been ongoing for ages and ages.
    See https://sites.google.com/site/lapastenague/a-deconstruction-of-routers-and-modem s/apple-time-capsule-repair
For a multitude of ways to fix it.
The 1 TB drive is LOOSE in there.
No, it is not loose, it has rubber mounts with pins in the bottom base plate. You cannot see the mount points with the base off. This is standard hdd mount for low noise and vibration.
I had thought that the issue was the drive itself was bad.
Drives seldom are the problem. The Gen2 WD black has been less than great though.. and later spinpoint in Gen3 not so good.

  • I had an Intel-iMac fried by lightening. UPS, surge protectors but it happened as I was reaching to unplug.  Cold now.  Could it just be the power supply?  Can I replace that myself?

This is the full question since I couldn't get it all in the box.
I have some complex questions regarding an iMac, a Time-Machine backup, and iTunes on an iPod.
I live about halfway up an extinct volcano about 12 miles north of San Jose Costa Rica.  Some months ago, we had a thunderstorm and as I reached to unplug my computers lightening struck about 50 meters from my house.  I had an iMac with a 3-Tb external backup drive, a PC laptop and a laser printer on the same power strip.  There was a definite surge and the light brighten and then power was lost for a few minutes.
When power was restored, the PC and the laser printer seemed to work fine but the iMac was cold.
First questions:  Is is possible that the power supply was fried and not other essential parts?  Would it be worthwhile to replace the power supply?  Can I, with limited experience and tools do it or need I take it to a technician?  My concern is that if the hard-drive is good, there is personal information on it that I don't want to risk.
Next question:  Do I need to replace the hard-drive before taking it for service?  How hard is that, can I do it? I have seen videos of the drive replacement on-line.
Those are my iMac questions, now the questions about backup restoration.
If there is a saving grace with this it is that the Time-Machine backup seems fine although I have only accessed the data through Finder.  I replaced the iMac with a Macbook Air with significantly less mass storage and I can't just move files to the Macbook.  My problem is that I have an iTunes library of some 10,000 songs on the backup and until recently on a 160 Gb iPod which was old and it crashed.  I have replaced the iPod but have not tried to restore the iTunes library to it because of my confusion about how to do that.  Can anyone tell me how I might do that or give me any insight into the process?
Thanks for any help you can give.

Quite possible, but working on iMacs is not easy, & PSU might be prohibitive.
Hopefully the Drive might have info on it, but even pulling that out can be a chore.

I'd get an external drive & restore the whole works to it, then boot from the External drive.

  • I just got my cable company to switch my wireless router to a wired one considering now I have the wireless airport device (the newest one) but now I can't get a wireless signal. The router works when directlyplugged in,the aiport wireless device is green

I just got my cable company to switch my wireless router to a wired one considering now I have the wireless airport device (the newest one) but now I can't get a wireless signal. The router works when directlyplugged in,the aiport wireless device is green. I've tried going through my new MacBook Pro settings and it the diagnostics check, it says network changes detected, I tell it that it "yes" does connect to a cable modem, it tells me to restart it, after I do it asks if there are any other devices hooked up ( firewall) and when I say no it tells me that it can't fix the problem.
Now I know that I probably have a new IP address because of the cable company switching the boxes but it was working fine with the other box, now there isn't a signal to be had on it!
Please anybody out there that can help!!!??

Any time you change networking hardware it is always a good idea to perform a complete power recycle with the new equipment. Check out the following AirPort User Tip. Please post back your results.
