Hi folks,
Can anyone suggest me, is there any functionality changes in Oracle 10g to 11g as we are migrating to it.
I had a look that xpath statement is not functioning in Oracle 11g.Really? "not functioning" is a bit of a general statement. I'm sure you'll find that xpath does work in 11g, most likely better than it did in 10g. Yes, there may be some bugs, but there always are.
So, rather than that is there any functionality is not supporting.There are plenty of functionality changes, but assuming you've coded your stuff using supported methods (rather than undocumented) you shouldn't have too many problems with an upgrade as most of those functionality changes will be additions and bug fixes.

  • Oracle Http server 11g, change ports with command-line tool

    I have installed the WLS11g webtier's Oracle Http server 11g. I installed the OH 11g only.
    The OH is runing fine with ports: non-ssl 7779 and ssl 4444
    I want to change the ssl port to 443 such that we can have the url without showing the port as https://hostname.domain/
    I have looked up the documnet http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15523_01/core.1111/e10105/ports.htm#CIHJIFHB for "managing port".
    it states "You can change the port numbers for some Oracle Fusion Middleware components, using Fusion Middleware Control, Oracle WebLogic Server Administration Console, or *the command line*."
    Because I only installed the OH, I have no the Fusion Middleware control , admin console available for making the port change. And I cannot find out how to the command line tool to make the change.
    I followed the steps in section 5.3.2.1 Enabling Oracle HTTP Server to Run as Root for Ports Set to Less Than 1024 (UNIX Only) http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15523_01/core.1111/e10105/ports.htm#CIHJEEJH
    And I did edit ssl.conf for port change to 443 ---- this is not documented in the document. I think because Oracle wants you to use the console to make the change.
    OH is not working after I made the change.
    Does anyone know how to use the commend line tool for making the port changes for OH11g?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    if u want to achieve it using JMX then u can try :
    http://middlewaremagic.com/weblogic/?p=613
    Using Command Line Option WLST you can do it in ONLINE Mode...like:
    Step1). Please run the ". ./setWLSEnv.sh" script to set the CLASSPATH & PATH in the shell prompt.
    <b><font color=red>NOTE:</font></b> Run the “setWLSEnv.sh” by adding two DOTs separated by a single space …..before the actual script like following : (use ‘cd’ command to move inside the <BEA_HOME>/wlserver_10.3/server/bin) then run the following command….
    *. ./setWLSEnv.sh*
    Note: the first DOT represents that set the Environment in the current Shell, AND the second ./ represents execute the script from the current directory.
    Step2). Now in the same Shell Prompt please run the WLST Utility like following:
    <b><font color=maroon>
    java weblogic.WLST
    wls:/offline> connect()
    Please enter your username [weblogic] : weblogic
    Please enter your password [weblogic] : weblogic
    Please enter your server URL [t3://localhost:7001] : t3://localhost:7001
    Connecting to t3://localhost:7001 with userid weblogic ...
    edit()
    startEdit()
    cd ('Servers/AdminServer')
    cmo.setListenPort(9999)
    save()
    activate()
    </font></b>
    Now you NEED NOT to restart your Server to reflact these Changes....
    The Above JMX Code is also able to do it in Runtime only on the Fly.

  • Skin Customization in Oracle Identity Manager 11g Release 2 (11.1.2)

    I was recently tasked with branding an OIM instance to match pretty stringent branding standards. To accomplish this task, I extended the fusion theme which is provided out of the box into a new custom skin. In the example below, I took the design as far as I could, which required decently advanced css knowledge; however, even a novice web designer could easily make simple updates to the backgrounds and fonts which would also greatly enhance the user experience.
    Utilizing FireBug for Firefox, I inspected elements of the OIM interface to see which div's I needed to modify in the css file. You can edit as little or as many elements as you'd like in your custom skin; however, I'd recommend preserving the primary elements original placements to avoid confusion for users that are already used to an out of the box version of OIM.
    This is the Oracle doc I used when creating the custom skin: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E27559_01/dev.1112/e27150/uicust.htm#BABJIJIA
    Notes regarding the Oracle tutorial mentioned above:
    Be sure and remove the temp directory, shut down your OIM server, upload your files, then restart your OIM server with each css modification.
    30.3.1 - Configuring Skins: 1. After you create the skin in the trinidad-skins.xml file, make a copy of the trinidad-skins.xml from the /iam-consoles-faces.war/WEB-INF/ directory to the
    oracle.iam.console.identity.sysadmin.ear/WEB-INF/ directory AND the
    oracle.iam.console.identity.self-service.ear/WEB-INF directory.

  • Oracle Application Server 10g/Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g

    Hi folks, This question related to migration/upgrade of Oracle Application Server infrastructure.
    I see that the Oracle has come up with Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g. Is it the next release of Oracle Application Server 10g. I have the following questions. Appreciate if any one can provide answers to the following questions. Please correct me if my understanding of these oracle products is not right! Thanks
    1. What is the future of Oracle Application Server?
    2. Is it Oracle Fusion Middleware(OFM) 11g is the upgrade path if one need
    to upgrade?
    3. Is it expected that expected that customers need(if require) to move to OFM 11g?
    4. Does OFM 10g comes with Oracle Application Server? If not what does
    it comes with?
    5. If it does not, what about customers having applications built using oracle forms and reports? Does OFG 11g
    support Oracle forms and reports?
    I understand that OFM 10g comes with Oracle web logic server!
    Thanks in advance.
    movva

    To run Forms and Reports in Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g you have to use the distribution "Portal, Forms, Reports and Discoverer" in the FMW 11g software pack.
    The structure of what we used to call "the application server" has changed a bit however, in the following way:
    - In 11g you need to install the Javaserver WebLogic software (version 10.3.3 for the current Forms 11g version 11.1.1.3) first.
    In 10g the installation of the Javaserver (OC4J) was part of the App server install.
    Note that you just have to install the software, the configuration script for creating a Forms app server instance creates the WebLogic domain (comparable with the OC4J instance) for you.
    - In 11g the Fusion Middleware software installation is separate from the creation of an application server instance.
    This is more convenient and comparable to Oracle database and Weblogic installation.
    - The Fusion Middleware Configuration script installs two parts of the product: 1. A WebLogic Domain. 2. A Fusion Middleware instance.
    The first contains everything related to Java, such as the servlet configuration file (formsweb.cfg), while the latter contains everything that has less to do with the Javaserver
    - No more Infrastructure server
    The Infrastructure server does not exist anymore. If you want to use Single Sign On with Forms/Reports 11g you can install Identity Management 10.1.4.3 (or use Identity Management 11g, and configure separately the 10.1.4.3 Single Sign On) or keep your old 10g Infrastructure installation.
    During installation you just have to specify you want to use OID and SSO and it configures out of the box.
    Under normal circumstances the same licenses apply to 10g and 11g (as long as you do not use WebLogic for other purposes).

    Due to the business rule changes, one of the numeric column in a large table (20 millions rows) will be expanded from number(8) to number(10). • Info about Listener for oracle 10g and 11g installed on single systm

    Hi,
    I have installed oracle 10g n 11g on my system. I have question regarding oracle listener.
    oracle 10g , Listener.ora
    LISTENER =
    (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC1))
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = kankala.kalyan)(PORT = 1521))
    oracle 11g, Listener.ora
    LISTENER =
    (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC1522))
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = kankala.kalyan)(PORT = 1522))
    my question is why the listener's names are same even though thy are on different ports?
    and for people worrying, why i have installed 10 n 11 is
    Initally only oracle 11g was installed on my system. Later, I was learning forms for first time and i have to connect to database frm developer suite 10g. so i installed oracle 10g database.

    The names are the same because that is the way you created them.
    If you want to make a change use NETCA to drop and recreate one of them.
    Just make sure you've defined ORACLE_HOME correctly before you do it.

    Is it possible to install Oracle 10g and 11g client on the same Linux RHEL 5.4 host and have the application switch between 10g and 11g? and how would the 10g and 11g be installed?

    Typeically if 10g is installed in /home/roacle/product/10.2.0, are you saying that for 11g, it would be /home/oracle/product/11.0.0 ?
    How about switching the application? Does changing the ORACLE_HOME and PATH environment variable setting enough ? Let's say from

    How to do this using OBIEE 11.1.1.7.1 because it is using  s_blafp & sk_blafp along with s_FusionFX and sk_FusionFX
    As said in the blog when I create
    c:/obiee11g
    Do  I need to copy all the four folders
    S_blafp ,

    s_FusionFX,
    sk_FusionFX
    I want to change the Oracle log on the login screen and put my company logo and also I have some write back templates I want to save in separate folder as said in blog like c:/obiee11g .. so that they won't get effected when upgrading .....
    Please throw some light on how to proceed..
    Thanks
    OBIL

    Hello OBIL,
    This we can achieve in 7 steps:-
    1. Copy styles and Skins from C:\Middleware_Home\Oracle_BI1\bifoundation\web\app\res (sk_blafp and s_blafp) to C:\OBIEE_SS
    2. Rename these folders to sk_deepak and s_deepak respectively.
    3. Copy WEB_INF from C:\Middleware_Home\instances\instance1\bifoundation\OracleBIPresentationServicesComponent\coreapplication_obips1\analyticsRes to C:\OBIEE_SS
    4. Make modifications in Skins and Styles. As an example I am replacing oracle_logo.png file with my logo in C:\OBIEE_SS\sk_deepak\b_mozilla_4 and C:\OBIEE_SS\sk_deepak\login folders.
    5. Modify instanceconfig.xml (location) file: Insert the following inside ServerInstance tags.
    <URL>
    <CustomerResourcePhysicalPath>D:\OBIEE11g</CustomerResourcePhysicalPath> <CustomerResourceVirtualPath>/OBIEE11g</CustomerResourceVirtualPath>
    </URL>
    <UI>
    <DefaultStyle>deepak</DefaultStyle>
    <DefaultSkin>deepak</DefaultSkin>
    </UI>
    6. Deploy OBIEE_SS as an application directory from Weblogic Admin Console.
      a. Click on Lock and Edit (From Change Center)
      b. From Domain Structure select deployments under bifoundation_domain
      c. Click Install
      d. Select OBIEE_SS folder from path C:\OBIEE_SS and click Next
      e. Select Install this deployment as an application and click Next
      f. Give your deployment a name or keep everything default at this page. Make sure to select I will make the   deployment accessible through the following location and click Finish
      g. Select Take me to deployment configuration page and click Finish
      h. Make sure under target tab you have the Admin Server or BI Server selected and click Save
      i. Click Activate Chnages (From Change Center)
    7. Restart BI Services.
    Do let me know if you need any help in doing this.
    Mark if helps,
    Thanks,
