Changes in Presentaion layer.

Do we have to say 'Reload Server Metadata' in the presentation services everytime we make change to the rpd file. I made a change in the Presentaion layer in offline mode and started BIServer but when I came to presentaion services the change did not reflect until I asked to reload server metadata. please clarify.

Hi friend,
if you change anything over RPD in online mode you should perform 'Reload Server Metadata'. If the changes are in offline mode, you should stop 'Presentation Service' and 'BIServer' services and then restart first 'BIServer' and after 'Presentation Server' services. It's important stop and start that services in that order.

  • Rename columns in Presentaion Layer

    Hi,
    I need to change the column names in the Presentaion Layer. I need only the beginning of the word to be uppercase. Do I have to go to BMM layer and use the rename wizard and get all the columns again to presentation layer. We have a lot of columns so manually doing it would be very time consuming. I am trying to do in Presenation Layer itself using Rename wizard but somehow the 'next' field is not highlighted to go to the next step. Any suggestions? Also if I change any column name in presentation layer manually do I also have to chnage the name in BMM layer as well.

    Hi,
    Keeping the column names consistent in BMM and presntation layer is best suggested as diffrent names in both the layers can lead to confusion .As Aliastair suggested if you rename in presentation layer then it will create aliases to Old names,If someone delete that alias then you will get view display error in report.So follow a simple approach and keep names consistent in both the layesr unless and until its very urgent to rename columns in presentation layer.
    Thanks

  • Changes to a layer Ph cs4 js

    Hi, I need to make several changes to a layer, but none of them are working. Here what I have:
    doc = app.activeDocument;
    var myLayer = doc.activeLayer;   // I need to specify the layer
    or
    var myLayer = doc.layers.itemByName("Vector Smart Object");     // I need to specify the layer
    myLayer.insertLabel ("INSTRUCTIONS (TURN OFF)");     // I need to rename the layer
    myLayer.move (LocationOptions.AT_BEGINNING);      // I need to move the layer to the very bottom
    myLayer.printable = false;     //  I need to set the layer not to print if possible
    myLayer.locked = true;      //  I need to lock the layer
    Your help is highly appreciated.

    It seems you are again trying to use improper terminology.
    Photoshop’s Document Object Model is different from Illustrator’s and Indesign’s!
    In ESTK consult Help – Object Model Viewer to see what the items and operations are called.
    As for the matter at hand:
    You could either create a Solid Color Layer (using ScriptingListener-code for example) with the intended values, or fill the artLayer.
    var myWhiteLayer = doc.artLayers.add();
    myWhiteLayer.name =  "WHITE LAYER";
    var myWhite = new CMYKColor ();
    myWhite.cyan = 0.0;
    myWhite.magenta = 0.0;
    myWhite.yellow = 0.0;
    myWhite.black =0.0;
    doc.selection.selectAll();
    doc.selection.fill(myWhite);
    doc.selection.deselect();

    "You totally lost me there, and I have no clue as to what your last question means."
    "I think I now know what you mean."
    Evidently language is of difficulty for you.
    Perhaps the Oxford dictionary can provide you with your much needed “sensible, meaningful” content.
    According to the Oxford dictionary, a dialogue is to "Take part in a conversation or discussion to resolve a problem."  It also states that a dialogue is "A discussion between two or more people or groups, especially one directed toward exploration of a particular subject or resolution of a problem.”
    That IS the inherent nature of posts. A conversation is reciprocation.  Questions, followed by more questions.
    It is not difficult to understand.
    "how to ask your questions correctly for quicker and better answers" is best actualized by simply asking.
    Is it a Mac; is it not, etc.
    That IS sufficient.  That IS "quicker and better answers[ing]."  That IS what a dialogue IS.   And that IS actually what is "sensible," "meaningful," and "detailed."
    The Oxford dictionary can best delineate and elucidate your lack of comprehension in what ACTUALLY “meaning” is.
    As well as what is "sensible" AND "detailed."
    By the way, am I being repetitive.
    Still confused.  Let the experts that do not require much explanation respond with "quicker and better answers" for both "sensible, complete" responses." They are not "lost," "blind," or provide "incomplete" drivel.

  • Change colors in Layer's Panel

    From yesterday my layer's panel changed the active layer light blue color to dark blue color like this.
    How can I change this blue to the original  like this? Is better to see all options.
    Thx in advanced:

    You can change the color by right clicking on your desktop and
    choosing Properties>Appearace>Advanced.
    Choose Selected Items, click on the color, click other. In the color picker
    enter the color value in the red, green and blue boxes, click Add to Custom Colors
    and click okay. (you can get the color values by opening your screenshot in photoshop
    and reading the values with the eyedropper tool)
    This effects all applications, not just photoshop.

  • Avoiding Rebuild of RPD for Change in Physical Layer Data Source.

    Hi,
    I would like to know whether change in physical layer data source will require rebuild of RPD or not.
    Previously our client was using excel spread sheet as source of OBIEE 11g RPD for Phase – 1 of the project. Successive work (design of BMM layer, Presentation layer, subject area, design of report and dashboard etc) for that phase is complete on top of that.
    Now, they would like to use Oracle database as source in Phase - 2, with the same table and column structure as MS Excel spreadsheet.
    We have created connection type of OCI 10g/11g and successfully imported the metadata of the oracle database in the physical layer.
    I was thinking whether it is possible to just redirect the source of physical layer from MS Excel to Oracle database, keeping the rest of the components (including BMM layer etc.) intact.
    This will be pretty tedious job to rebuild all layers of the RPD again and again for change in the underlying database.
    Please advise how this is possible. Many thanks !

    I think..we can do some testing
    you have created Alias for all tables.
    Try checking view data by changing the Source name of any alias table to Oracle Source name in the physical Layer.
    Check the datatypes of columns .
    If these two are passed we can eliminate rebuilding.
    Please post your comments.

  • How do you duplicate a layer and then change its adjustment layer?

    This used to be easy in PS7, but it's evasive in CS4. We occasionally need to duplicate a layer and then change the adjustment layer. For instance, we might have selected a section of an image and used brightness contrast and then need to create a new layer using the same section using selective color. What we have done in the past is duplicate the layer and then change the adjustment layer. Any ideas?

    You're great!
    Thanks a million, we've been struggling with this for at least a year.

  • CS4 Actions change "Show Current Layer, Toggle With Others" MIA

    Greetings forumers,
    I have been using Photoshop for years as a hobby and professionally. My employer recently upgraded our Mac Pro Quad-Core Intel Xeon computers to Photoshop CS4. The transition has been mostly painless accept for all the changes to the keyboard shortcuts (I'll live).
    Recently we have come across an issue with one of our customer's workflows that we have not been able to get by using CS4. Or customer has a workflow that we must work within in order to provide them with the artwork files in a way they can use for other processes. The main parts of this workflow involve layer structure and a set of actions that they have been using since Photoshop 7. Our customer uses Photoshop CS3.
    With the transition to Photoshop CS4 in our shop, one line of their action does not function in CS4.
    Show Current Layer
    Toggle With Others
    What needs to happen is at the end of the action all layers need to be turned visible. In CS3, in the layer palette, by Control & Clicking the eye and selecting "Show/Hide all other layers" produced the recorded action 'Show Current Layer, Toggle With Others'. The names of the layers are not recorded. This is good because the action will work on any layer no matter what the name of the layer is. In essence all layers are made visible.
    In CS4 performing the same above clicks produces a recorded action 'Show , ...' The diference is that in CS4 the action is recording the name of every layer that it is showing/hiding. Simply change the name of one of your layers and running the action again produces a verbose error box.
    So any thoughts on how to make visible all layers in a document using an action that will work on any layered file?
    We are constructing our files in CS4 and opening them in CS3 to run the action for our customer as a work around. Or we are manually toggling the visibility, but what fun is that when it used to be automatable?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    You could try this script (CS4 only) to make all layers/groups visible. If it works for you, you could then call it as part of your action.
    selectAllLayers();
    var sl = getSelectedLayersIdx();
    var sLayers = new Array();
    for( var i = 0; i < sl.length; i++ ){

  • Changing SG300 from Layer 3 to Layer 2

    Will changing an SG300 switch from Layer 3 to Layer 2 cause any significant user downtime, or any at all?  I have two 52-port SG300's and two 20-port SG300's to make this change to.

    From the admin guide p.254:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/csbms/sf30x_sg30x/administration_guide/78-19308-01.pdf
    NOTE Switching from one system mode (layer) to another (on Sx500 devices) requires a
    mandatory reboot, and the startup configuration of the device is then deleted.
    So, you will want to backup you config, do this in a scheduled maintenance interval and reload the config by hand.
    Also realize there may be L3 commands in your config that will not apply in L2 mode.
    Good luck!

  • Changing color of layer

    Hi, I moved a couple layers into sublayers for another layer. The layers are different colors and when I tried to change them to match each other, the only options I see are to change the layer name and to show or lock the layer.
    Layer 1 (blue)
    Sublayer 1 (brown)
    Sublayer 2 (brown)
    Sublayer 3 (blue)
    In this example, I'm unable to change the brown layers to blue. Any suggestions? Thanks!

    Perhaps restart Illustrator or trash the preferences.
    I have no issues altering the layer selection colors at any time. With layers nested or not.

  • How to change 'half-moon' Layer Thumbnail to a graph

    I've noticed that in some of my images, the Layers Thumbnail -- the black & white circle between the Layer Visibility and the Layer Mask -- is not a circle but a graph. How do I change from one to the other?
    I can understand the graph, but what is the circle supposed to represent?

    Thanks Zeno, for the suggestion. I had already checked out the section in PS Help that you provided the link for, but I couldn't work out why, when the setting for Layer Thumbnails were all set to small, that some of the images had graphs and other had the circles. You confirmed the solution and now I know where the problem was:
    * the images that had the graph were vertical format and there was enough vertical space to fit in the graph;
    * the images that had the circle were horizontal format. The vertical dimension must have been just under the size limit for the graph.
    A bit confusing. I assumed the thumbnails would be scaled so that on a certain thumbnail size setting, the vertical dimension of the thumbnails was the same so that the spacing of the various layers remained constant. Not so. The longest dimension appears to remain constant.
    Anyway, problem fixed. Thanks.

  • Change default new layer order - top to bottom

    By default Adobe Photoshop creates new layers on top of the current layer. In the Western languages we read from top to bottom and left to right. So when I start creating a web site in Photoshop I start from top to bottom as well. However Photoshop creates the new layer above the current, which is the opposite of what I would like to do. I need Photoshop to create new layrs below the current layer. I know by holding CTRL/COMMAND and clicking the NEW LAYER icon, will do what I need. However if I do CTRL+J to jump/dublicate the current layer, or select a layer and ALT+DRAG again to dublicate it, again it puts the new layers in top. Is there a way to reverse the default order Photoshop places layers? If not, I suggest that to Adobe implement an option in the general settings for Photoshop. Flash for example had similar option to read/place layers from top to bottom or bottom to top. Thanks!

    Trevor.Dennis, yes you are correct that perhaps the new layer MIGHT be hidden, but since I am asking such quesiton I am aware that this might happen. I see your point and why what I need is not the default option in Photoshop. However, for some (like me for example), it will still be a lot better of I could tweak that as an optional setting KNOWING what I am doing and the risk behind it.

    when I open Project Info Window in iDVD to change the type of DVD I'm using, I can't open the drop down window for DVD type. What am I doing wrong? or How do I get the DVD type to work?

    Hi
    It's not iDVDs faulth. It is depending on Your DVD-burner.
    Most Mac burners are DVD-R burners but some can also burn to DVD+R.
    Go to "About this Mac" then select "More info"
    Now find Your DVD-burner and read what it can address.

  • Why when i make any changes on a background layer is it automatically changing to a layer?

    i have two computers running cc and one if fine the main one has started doing this and it's very anoying!
    Hope someone can help???
    Many Thanks
    Michael

    The Photoshop Background layer does not support transparency there is only one background layer and its the bottom most layer. A Background layer is not required. If you want to add transparency to the background layer you must first convert the background layer to a normal layer.  I the latest release of Photoshop automates that  conversion sometimes for example if you add a layer mask to a background layer the background layer is automatically converted to a normal layer.  There may be other operations that would also convert a background layer to a normal layer.
    Photoshop also also grays out features when the background layer is the current target like free transform....

    Yes Florian,
    read properly! You should have known he already knows how to do it through SE80. Anyone who reads this knows it, so why don't you? We all even know why he needs to do it through a program and not through SE80.
