Changes in secondary controller

Hi,
If two controllers are in ap sso high availability mode, how do we do changes in the secondary backup controller.
Consolling in to the secondary doesn't allow any changes. Is there any command from primary that is used to config or change parameters on the secondary controller.
Thanks in advance.

They are sync'd and therefor you make changes only to the primary WLC that is active and the changes will be pushed to the HA WLC.

  • How to Force LWAPS to Join Secondary Controller

I have an assortment of 1230, 1240, and 1250 AP's converted from autonomous to LWAP mode.  The switch that my primary 5508 WLC is connected to is being retired and I need to move the WLC to a different switch.  What is the best way to force all of the LWAPs to join the secondary5508  WLC prior to taking the primary controller offline?

Go to the primary controller > Wireless > Access Points > Global Configuration
Enter the Secondary WLC details as Back-up Primary Controller IP Address and Back-up Primary Controller name.  Don't save the config.
Go to your secondary controller and do the same process.
When the switch replacement is complete, just revert the changes.

  • I am trying to change my secondary icloud to become my primary account.  When I try I keep getting a message to first delete my icloud from internet accounts then log back in.  I just cannot seem to figure out how to do this.  Any ideas?

I am trying to change my secondary icloud to my primary icloud.  I've read several posts but can't seem to get any of those to work.  It keeps telling me to change this I need to delete my icloud from internet accounts and sign back in.  How do I do this though?  When I go onto internet accounts, I don't see where I can manage this.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

To change a secondary account you have to delete/sign out of both accounts.   After doing so, you can sign back in with the secondary account ID in System Preferences>iCloud and it will become the primary account.  To delete an account from System Preferences>Internet Accounts, select it on the left sidebar, then click the "-" icon at the bottom to delete it.

  • How to change SATA disk controller on Toshiba Satellite A135 s2276

Hello guys, I know that there was a similar question already (kindly answered by Mike), but my situation differs a little.
I'm trying to install the SSD intead of my hard drive.
Problem is that even though BIOS can see the SSD I cannot install Windows on it (tried XP and 7). Cannot even format it from installation disk (it just hangs).
When I hook it up on a usb cable, it works fine (SSD). I can format it (from windows) and copy files on it like and external drive it doesn't have any issues.
When I try to install windows on it (either from a CD or usb) it hangs. The same situation is if I try to install the system when the SSD is in usb port or if I put it inside, where my hard drive originally is (SATA connection). It just seets there. Comes to copying files and then stops.
I think I'd need to change the SATA disk controller in BIOS (sata to ide or compatibility mode) in order for it to work, however there's no such an option in the latest BIOS for this model (1.60).
    Any help appreciated, thanks Miki
ps. update - I succesfully installed windows on another Toshiba (which has the option to change the sata controller in bios), using the same SSD so I think this is definitely the problem. Any ideas apart from buying a newer comp?

    Hi
If such option is NOT available in BIOS then you will be no able to change this!!!
In such case the HDD controller will say in SATA mode and if you want to install an operating system then you need to install the SATA drivers firstly!

  • Aps not finding secondary controller

I have just installed a secondary WLC 4402 where a client has 1121 APs and 1010 APs and I am slightly confused.
We have 2 CISCO-LWAPP-CONTROLLER entries in DNS
The WLCs are WLC1 and WLC2
The 1010 APs fail over to the secondary controller perfectly well.
The 1121 APs do not fail over.
I have given the APs primary and secondary controller names of WLC1 and WLC2.
Is this due to Option 43 not being configured correctly.
I believe though I have not investigated that there is a single entry for the 1121 APs in the DHCP scope for option 43 of the original conmtroller but there is no entry for the 1010 APs.
They are using the same DHCP scope in a layer 2 implementation.
    Any help appreciated

When the ap has joined a wlc, the dns and dhcp option 43 is not used. The information created in the mobility group (mac address, ip address and mobility group name) is used. This is how ap's learn of the other wlc. Setting the ap's primary and secondary and or tertiary wlc is required for ap's to be able to join the other wlc. Option 43 and dns is used if the ap goes throught the proccess of finding a wlc if the primary, secondary and or tertiary wlc is not found. It seems to me that the ap's have properly joined a wlc, there for, you need to verify why the 1121'a are not joining the secondary.
First of all, is the mobility group configured correctly and is ap fallback enabled or not. Also, verify that you can mping and eping the controllers. Is the wlc set to layer 2 or layer 3 mode? I think that the 1121 needs the wlc to be in layer 3, but I will check.
What you should also do is console into the ap and post the log so we can see what errors the ap is getting.

  • Force AP to secondary controller

I would like to force AP to the secondary controller without taking down the primary controller. It there a command that would accomplish this? I would like to move AP individually and not all at the same time.
    Thanks
    Chappy

You could always use the master controller mode (Not recommended for production use). Also, the APs will upgrade or downgrade depending upon which controller they associate to. I like to upgrade all my controllers at once and reboot them at the same time via WCS.

  • APs continually registering with secondary controller

    Hi All,
For some reason all of the APs on a particular controller deregister from it and register with their secondary controller. Both controllers are running version 4.1.171.0 and I cannot see any issues on the LAN that would disrupt comms between the APs and their primary controller.
Any pointers will be greatly appreciated.
    Many Thanks
    Scott

    Hi Eric,
I haven't tried either of those but I will do as soon as.
I'm using names for the first and second controllers (I'm haven't spec'd a third due to the controllers being geographically distant).
These particular APs had been quite stable until I upgraded the controllers to said s/w version around a month ago, though APs on other upgraded controllers are fine. Also no matter where the APs are registered to they report (via WCS) that they are running vers 3.2.195.10 s/w, however interrogating the relevant controller directly says they are running vers 4.1.171.0.
I was also in the midst of adding some new APs; these were autonomous ones that I converted (at my desk) and specified the suspect controller for them to register with during the conversion, the new APs registered ok with the controller and I set the same controller as their primary and set them aside for installation. After your reply to my initial query I've booted one of the newly converted ones again and they have registered with a random controller elsewhere on our network (I'm using option 43) rather than their primary.
Apologies for the info overload, hopefully you can make some sense out of it.
    Many Thanks
    Scott

  • How do i change the secondary click from starting up mission control to standard right click

Downloaded lion but i can't seem to changes the secondary click. The secondary or right click opens up mission control instead of the standard right click menus
    Any ideas?

I had the same problem with my 2010 MBA.  I plugged in a mouse and changed the preference on the right button to secondary click in the mouse preferences.  For some reason it changed the setting on the trackpad from mission control to standard right click as well, even after the mouse is unplugged.  So if you have a mouse you might try that.  Hopefully Apple will fix this with an update.

  • Desktop pictures do NOT rotate/change on secondary display

For some peculiar reason, my desktop pictures do NOT change / rotate on my secondary display.
I have a MacBook Pro 15" (Late 2007) running Snow Leopard 10.6.2 and I have dual displays. My primary display (the MBP screen) DOES change / rotate picture every minute, but I want my secondary display to do the same.
It seems that restarting does fix it, but only temporarily. I think it might have to do with plugging/unplugging the secondary display and sometimes if it's working, I disconnect and reconnect the monitor and then the pictures stop rotating.
All my desktop picture settings are correct in System Preferences. I tried unchecking then rechecking the "Change picture:" checkmark, but that doesn't fix anything. I also tried clicking on different folders in the left column of the Pref Pane, then clicking back on my chosen desktop pictures folder.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

I discovered that for this particular file if you check the "random order" box under Desktop preferences, then the pictures will rotate like the rest of the photo files in the collection

  • How much time does an AP take to failover to secondary controller

    hi All,
My query is to understand how much time will an AP take to failover to its secondary WLC(Backup) incase primary goes offline.
Whats the heartbeat time for each AP to verify reachability to WLC.
also what is the purpose of AP Fail over priority under each AP. i want to ensure AP's fall back to primary WLC once its back online.(Preemption)

    Hi Matehw,
My query is to understand how much time will an AP take to failover to its secondary WLC(Backup) incase primary goes offline.
We can not tell exact time but normally It takes 1-3 minutes.
Whats the heartbeat time for each AP to verify reachability to WLC.
AP Heartbeat Timeout - AP sends heartbeat to WLC (By default its 30s). Once the primary WLC(or where AP is connected to)goes down, With heartbeats, the AP realizes sooner that the controller has become unreachable.
also what is the purpose of AP Fail over priority under each AP.
First of all there are three types: it goes like this Cirtical...high...medium..low.
***To configure AP failover priority, we must enable AP Fallback feature globally and then individual APs with a suitable priority level.
*** When using both the local  and global backup configurations, the locally configured settings take precedence in the event of a controller failure. If an AP is not able to join any of the locally configured controllers, it then tries to join the global backup controllers.

  • Force ap to join secondary controller

    I currently have 2 2106 wlc's.
Each is licensed for 6 access points. Controller 1 is full. Controller 2 has 5/6 aps.
When I add the 12th access point it repeatedly attempts to connect to controller 1. It never tries to connect to controller 2.
In the ap config I have specified the names of the primary and secondary controllers.
    Primary - Controller_2
    Secondary - Controller_1
Shouldn't this force the ap to attempt to connect to Controller_2?

    Thanks Rob.
Turns out I had to set each controller in the same Mobility Group and add each others MAC/IP addresses into the Mobility Group Members. It now appears to use the primary controller first.

  • How do I change the secondary sorting on iTunes?

So iTunes has it's basic sorting algorithm, with various options to choose from for the primary sort.
However there are secondary, tertiary etc sorts which happen on the rest of the information - so for example, if I sort by Artist, my secondary sort will be albums, and then tertiary will be track number.
What I want to know is, can I change the default secondary sort? So that if I sort by artist, the secondary sort will be song title or something.
I know that this capability is present, as Album has various options for sorting if you click it multiple times, specifically Album by Artist and Album by Artist/Year.
If not present, this feature should be added, because added customisation would be fantastic!

What I want to know is, can I change the default secondary sort?
    Nope.

  • Changing SharePoint Domain Controller

I had an issue today where no one could log in successfully to SharePoint (SP). I figured out that the the domain controller (DC) it was communicating with had some issues talking to the parent DC.
Once the SP server was rebooted, users were able to log into SP again. I suspect that once it was rebooted, SP began talking with a different DC that was functional.
    Is there a way to:
    1) See which DC SharePoint is communicating with?
    2) Change which DC that SharePoint communicates with? Possibly dynamically where if there is an issue with the primary DC, it can go out and look for another one that is functional?
    Thanks!

    1) Generally using network monitoring software you can see which DC is actively used, or reviewing the Domain Controller's Security Event Log to see attempted/successful logins of users/computer accounts.
    2) Not really, no. You control preferred domain controller(s) via Active Directory Sites and Services. You assign a subnet (e.g. the subnet the SharePoint servers reside on) to one or more domain controllers.

  • Still having issues with AP primary/secondary controller option

Customer has two primary controllers each in HA SSO, each using v7.6.130.0, FUS 1.9.0.0; the AP population is a mixture of mostly 3502, 3602 and 1142.   Both WLC's management interfaces are in the same vlan and the mobility communication is up.  AP fallback is enabled on both WLC.
Over the weekend the upgrade to 7.6.130.0 was completed and the first AP tested with primary controller defined worked on the first attempt.  Every successive reboot of the AP always worked. This did not work previously when the WLC was on v7.6.100.0.
L2 client roaming between APs joined to different controllers also worked great.
While the roaming test was being carried out, a few APs not involved with the testing migrated over to the new controller.  This wouldn't be a problem but there are about 15 APs that must reside only one controller.  As luck would have it, 5 of the APs which migrated to the new controller are APs which must stay on the other controller.  Setting their primary controller had no affect.  Each time these 5 APs were reset they ignored the primary controller setting and joined the new controller.  These were 4 1142 and 1 3502.
What am I missing?  I have checked and double checked the configuration, read and reread the documentation.  I am working as a contractor and this is starting to look very bad for me if this problem can not be solved.
    Thank you for your assistance.

I would like to follow up and share the resolution to this problem.
After upgrading to 7.6.130.0 and finally determining that one of the test APs was actually bad, we were able to move forward.  Since removing the bad AP from the test, we now have the ability to direct APs to a specific controller at will.
In the testing, we found that using just the system name worked in all test cases. This was confusing since using the FQDN worked for some APs but not all.  This issue is why I started this discussion.  Nobody homed in on that detail, so I hope this will help someone in the future.
Both the primary controllers are in the same management vlan, we only used the system name.
    Good luck to all!

  • How to syncronize changes in secondary Master data objects with Primary?

    Hi Gurus!!
I am working on a requirement in which I have to create a custom repository for EQUIPMENT master and EXCISE master.
There are Material,Vendor,Customer,Equipment, and Excise master repositories in the server.
Excise master deals with determination of excise rates based on Material and chapter Id combination, also its required to have upto date Vendor and Customer details in the Excise master repository.
The Equipment master on the other hand requires updated Material records, which are available in separate Material repository.
    It can be done through-
    ->Multiple Main Tables
    ->API's fetching records
Please guide me how to go ahead and which is the best way?
    Thanks,
    Ravi

    Hi Ravi,
I just want to know that you have to maintain two custom repositories i.e.  EQUIPMENT master and EXCISE master.
Or is it ok with  one repository.
Why i want to know is  becuase if you create two custom repository then you have to maintain material data two places i.e. in both repositories.
If it possible that only repository can work then you can go with one repository with 5 maintables.
But every  thing has pros n cons .
    Pros:
    data storage is less
    cons:
so if you go with one repository so in this case user load only on one repository becuase if user interested in vendor or customer or material they will log in same repositories and hence there is more chances of  server downtime.
you can go with  multiple repositories  one for each .
    pros
With this no more load on one repository.
    cons
in this approach you have to do the syndication btw repositories to get upto date data  and storage needs more as some common data maintain in different repositories
    So i would suggest that
You can go with multiple maintable IF
1.1 individaul repositories donot have so many users i.e. vendor ,material and customer repositories  donot have  so many users  then  put all in one repository so that we can maintain data at one place.
Different repositories is also good option if  all three repositories have so much load and you can  get upto date data through syndication .But in this approach if you need all fields from three repositories then it would be  a waste of storage and if you need ony some information from these repositories then this is good also.
Please inform us abt what  is feasible for you so that we can make the solution more simple.
    Thanks,
    Sudhanshu
