Changes made in Itunes not in Music Library

Hi: I have spent countless hours fixing track names, adding artwork and all the other fun stuff. None of these changes are reflected in the music library and I can't figure out how to fix that situation. I've scrolled through the forum and can't finad an answer that works. If anyone knows how to do this, I would certainly appreciate the help. Thanks.

I am not 100% sure, but that kinda sounds like a Vista permissions problem that other folks have posted.
Use these directions to take FULL control over your top-level music folder, and all subfolders.
Vista permissions are funny, sometimes read/write is not enough. You need FULL control and ownership.

  • HT1386 devices not updating after sync and changes made in itunes not happening?

Hi, I think my ITunes is corrupt and may need to be reinstalled? Changes made on the Mac in Itunes to playlist do not sync to either our 5 or 4S. other issues in Itunes I've noticed is that adding songs to playlists only works if I drag them...using the drop-down menu and 'add to' doesn't make the change occur.  Any suggestions?

How is your iPod configured to sync with your iTunes library?  Automatically or manually?  In other words, what options do you have enabled from under the iPod's Music and Summary tabs?

  • Artist name/album name changes made in itunes not showing up on my iphone4S

I added some songs to my iphone and I changed some of the songs' artist names in itunes. However, the changes that I made in itunes are not showing up on the iphone. Changes to album names are also not showing up. But album art does show up on my iphone. I've tried converting id3 tags and I've tried resetting the phone but nothing has worked. Does anybody know what is wrong and how to fix it?? Thanks.

    Haven't had the problem.
First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.

  • ITunes not seeing music library on external drive?

I recently moved my iTunes to an external hard drive. I read the instructions on the apple support site on how to do everything. It said, down at the bottom of the article, that the hard drive must be opened before you launch iTunes in order for iTunes to see the library. Although I did everything instructed my iTunes, when launched, is not seeing any of the files that are on my external hard drive. They are still on the hard drive and I am scared to do anything more without some help for fear I may lose the data on my hard drive. Help!!

If you copied the music to the external drive yourself, you did not do it correctly.
Do you see any music when you open iTunes?

  • Changes made in iTunes not syncing with iPod Touch

Anyone have suggestions on a strange issue.  When I make changes in items on iTunes (ver 11.1.3.8), itunes appears to sync with the ipod, but the changes are not reflected on the ipod.  iPod software is current.  Many thanks for your advice.

What exactly happens when you try to sync?
Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Do you have the right boxes checked to sync?

  • ITunes Library.itl not valid music library file

"iTunes Library.itl not valid music library file" I get this error almost everytime I restart my computer. When itunes makes the new ".itl" file, not all of my music is listed in the library. I have read through a large amount of the forum posts on this topic and have not found a solution that works for me yet.
How can I stop iTunes from doing this everytime I restart my computer?
Is there a way to "repair" the damaged ".itl" so that I do not have to keep remaking my playlists?
    iTunes 6.0.1.3   Windows XP

It seems like the ITL file is not being properly written after iTunes closes. Then when you re-open iTunes, it cannot load the ITL file and creates a new one. Forcing you to recreate your Library manually, again and again.
    Several things to check:
-Double check to see that the ITL file or the folder it resides in is not read-only.
-Using Windows Explorer, right-click on the file (or folder) name, go to Properties.
-If it is, then close iTunes, change it, and reopen iTunes.
See this thread to reset the iTunes preferences: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=1216090#1216090
And see this post to use TweakUI to check the location and validity of your My Music 'Special Folder': http://discussions.apple.com/click.jspa?searchID=487067&messageID=1197027
Once the main cause of the inability to save the ITL file is corrected, you'll need to recreate your Library one last time to finally save it. No way to resurrect the original one, unless you had backup copies of the ITL file.

  • How to make iTunes recognize the music library in my external hard drive after instaIling Yosemite?

How to make iTunes recognize the music library in my external hard drive after instaIling Yosemite? I tried re-setting the media folder location, but it didn't work. What else should I do?

The issue is not related to the external drive. iTunes Match has difficulties matching tracks ripped fom CDs because they may differ slightly from the versions on sale in iTunes. You can try the match again. Otherwise do a search of this forum. There are already many discussions on this subject here that may help you.

I should say that I am doing this on the iPhone4 and not a laptop.

I believe that there is an app called MxTube that lets you download high quality youtube videos to your iPhone

  • ITunes not syncing music

    Hello,
I am having a problem with iTunes not syncing music to my iPad. I want to have my entire library on my iPad, this used to fit.
A few weeks ago I started getting an error, most of my music had vanished. I attempted to sync it back, but was told that there was not enough space on my iPad, despite no new files being added.I looked again and noticed something. I had 20GB of OTHER in iTunes, this is approximately the size of my music library.
It is fairly clear what happened, the music files were corrupted somehow, but were still there and taking up space on the iPad. So I decided to restore my iPad. First restoring and once everything had been wiped and back to factory setting, restoring from a backup.
This worked and I was left with only 1gb of other. At this point there was still no music on my device sync music was unchecked.
So once I was sure everything was up and running, I checked the sync music box... and nothing happened. It would begin synching, it would determine the tracks to sync for a moment... then it would quickly finish syncing without adding the music files.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

Have you authorized your new computer: Store>Authorize this Computer?

macbook pro not displaying music library: What do I need to do to show music files in Library? They are not showing up.

If you click View, Show Sidebar you will see the other libraries under Shared in the left hand column. Click on the Library you want and you can expand it to select Music, Movies etc. Select whatever items you want and click import if you want to move them to your Library.
You will have to have all computers authorised with the relevant Apple ID's
    Store  >  Authorise this computer...
This is separate from the Home Sharing username and password and is to allow playing of DRM Movies, TV shows etc from the other computer.
If both Computers use the same apple id this step is not required.

  • Itunes duplicates my music library

    itunes duplicates my music library

If you are on Version 11.0.1 rather than 11 Apple put it back in
    View > Show Duplicates
Option + View > Show Exact Duplicates
so if you are on 11 upgrade to 11.0.1 and you will have it

  • HT2470 Why won't Itunes store my music library in my User/Music Folder, if I select my user name as a storage location in Itunes, Itunes creates folders for artist name right in my user folder, instead of in my user/music folder

Why won't Itunes store my music library in my User/Music Folder?
If I select my user name as a storage location in Itunes, Itunes creates folders for artist name right in my user folder, instead of in my user/music folder.  This gets especially annoying because if I tell Itunes to store my "media" in my user/music folder, Itunes will then create a folder named "music" in my "music" folder and will also create additional folders in my user/music folder location to store other non-music media in as well. It is very annoying to see this lack of affinity for folders between two Apple created programs.

  • Itunes not recognizing my library

itunes not recognizing my library, everything grayed out. I have the latest itunes.

Glad to see Apple responded so quickly to this problem too...

  • Why is my latest itunes not syncing music with my music on my iphone 4s with iOS 7?

Why is my latest itunes not syncing music with my music on my iphone 4s with iOS 7?

Here's what I did. If you have an existing playlist and add a song to it, drag the whole playlist into the phone icon. It will ask if you want to Replace the playlist..YES. In my case i added one song in the playlist to test it. It synced the one song and also kept all the other songs but it didnt run through every song, so it was really fast. This is what I would do...drag and drop. Also, I shut down my phone and started it again, before I did the sync. I hope this helps

  • Changing how iTunes manages my music library

Because I didn't know any better, I originally set up iTunes to COPY files from my "My Music" folder to my "iTunesiTunes Music" folder. Obviously, this method results in two copies of my music library. I now understand this is not necessary and I would like to change it.
I understand what I should have done is to uncheck, or not to have checked in the first place, the option under the "Advanced" tab "Copy files to iTunes media folder when adding to library." Unfortunately, as outlined, the damage is already done and my music library takes up twice the amount of disc space that should be necessary to manage it.
Which brings me to my question. Can I fix this by unchecking the box in the previous paragraph then going into Windows Explorer and simply deleting the "iTunesiTunes Music" folder? By doing that, my understanding is iTunes would simply reference my "My Music" folder rather than making a copy and placing it in "iTunesiTunes Music."
    What say you experts?

You could do it the other way round and delete the content files that are not in the iTunes Music folder, that would be the normal way.
iTunes needs to have an iTunes Music folder because that is where it puts any music you purchase or rip with iTunes.
If you want to leave your music where it was, you can delete the iTunes music folder and iTunes will create a new empty one next time it opens.
If you chose that route, also delete iTunes Library.itl in the iTunes folder - this is the library database.
Then you can uncheck your copy to box in preferences and then you can add your music files again using File>>Add folder to Library. This way iTunes will use the files in their original locations.
Be aware that iTunes does not do folder watching so you mustn't move or change anything once the files are added otherwise iTunes will loose them.
Also, remember that the recycle bin is not usually big enough to hold all music file so be careful when deleting things. It is always wise to have backups in case of mistakes.
