Quit the app completely and then launch it again.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Try the app again.

  • Servermgrd[584]: FIXME: IOUnserialize has detected a string that is not valid UTF-8, "v\035\363d".

    All,
I am having a very odd problem.
I have recently setup a Mac OS X Mavericks Server for the purposes of NetRestore.
Everything setup fine, no issues whatsoever and the server has been running non-stop for the past 78 days.
I've already imaged about 100 MacBook pros off of this server without a problem.
This morning I come in, start up an MBP that needs to be imaged and it sees the netrestore volumes and attemps to boot to it
then stops and doesn't go anywhere.
I've had my NBI's on an external firewire 800 drive (1TB Lacie Rugged) and its been working fine.
I've checked my logs numerous times and the only error I can find is: servermgrd[584]: FIXME: IOUnserialize has detected a string that is not valid UTF-8, "v\035\363d".
The exact same error keeps repeating every 10 seconds or so.
I read in another forum that sometime Mavericks Server doesn't like NBI images on external volumes, so I moved them to the standard /Library/Netboot/NetBootSP0 folder on the boot volume and turned off the external drive.
I'm able to NetRestore again now, but the process is far slower then it was previsously and the error above still persists.
I've rebooted the server, stopped and restarted the services, made sure no changes have been made on the network, and fully updated the server via software update.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance.

    I post some other error.
I don't understand why some times when I reboot I don't get any errors and why some Ive this:

Only way to get iMac starting again was to re-install 10.4.4 from DVD, and then update it into 10.4.6. For a while it worked perfectly, just as before.
Then I tried to print to CD with my EPSON Stylus Photo 950 from Adobe Photoshop Elements (2.0). It didn't print anything, but printer started flashing all lights. The print job was not performed, so I did remove it from the Printer Utility. After that the iMac started "ticking" again, same noise than before, after 10.4.7 installation. I did re-boot iMac. It never started, it does stuck on gray screen (gray block running clockwise). HW test from DVD didn't find any problems (extended search looping 3 times). But Disk Utility found hard drive to have inaccurate node structure, it could not fix it.
Apple support recommended to use DiskWarrior. However, it does not support (yet) Intel Macs. I haven't got TechTool Pro 4.5.1 anywhere. iMac does start on to FireWire mode (T at boot), but I cannot see the disk from 10.2.8 iMac.
So, obvisously the problem is not 10.4.7. I believe it to be ESPON printer driver compatibility on Mac OSX. This does not suprise me, EPSON printers *****, I shall never purchase one again. However, disk catalog structure should not get messed by one faulty printer driver!

  • SleepServicesD[68]: FIXME: IOUnserialize has detected a string that is not valid UTF-8, ""

I have an iMac late 2013 which hangs after one night in sleep mode. The only way to get it back working again is to power cycle it (5 sec power button)
It is a late 2013 21'' imac with 16GB RAM, and a fusion drive, with Mavericks installed.
When I look in the console the following entries appear just before the reboot:
    10/10/14 00:45:17,000 kernel[0]: [0x2e0685000, 0x100000]
    10/10/14 00:45:17,000 kernel[0]: [0x2e07c5000, 0x80000]

    10/10/14 08:15:58,000 bootlog[0]: BOOT_TIME 1412921758 0
A lot of kernel messages, this is always the same. Just before the kernel messages appear these messages:
    10/10/14 00:44:50,000 kernel[0]: AppleThunderboltNHI::prePCIWake - power up complete - took 0 us
    10/10/14 00:44:50,000 kernel[0]: AppleThunderboltHAL::earlyWake - complete - took 0 milliseconds

    10/10/14 00:45:17,000 kernel[0]: [0x1530d2000, 0x13000]
These messages are always Thunderbold related. When I look in to the logs these events occur regularly, also when the system does not hangs over night. Today I discovered the following. Just before the crash there is an IOUnserialize error that is related to Sleep :
    10/10/14 00:44:21,874 SleepServicesD[68]: FIXME: IOUnserialize has detected a string that is not valid UTF-8, "P ".
Just after restart it generated several similar error, as:
    10/10/14 08:16:19,760 configd[18]: FIXME: IOUnserialize has detected a string that is not valid UTF-8, "P ".
I am not sure but it seems like that the crashes are more likely to occur when both me and my wife are logged in to the system. My wife is using Parallels desktop 9 with windows 8.1. And it seems that the hangs occur the night after she worked for multiple hour on the virtual machine, but I have to stress that this is just a feeling, I am not sure if that is the cause of the problems. Maybe working for extensive periods is the cause not the virtual machine.
I am wondering did anyone other experience this and what worked for you? I am tired of the hard reboots. Today even the keyboard had crashed (apple wired keyboard with numerical input) I had to unplug it for a while (several minutes) before it started working again. The USB ports were fine after reboot. I tested them with another wired keyboard, while the other one was connected and not working. Switching ports did not help, thus that problem was really keyboard related.
I hope someone has any ideas.
    Thanks in advance!

To be sure I reinstalled Mavericks again, the first night exactly the same. This morning the imac did not wake up from sleep again. I checked the logs after a hard reboot. Exactly the same issue as above
It contained multiple FIXME entries. The SleepService was the first FIXME that appeared in the log and is followed by multiple FIXMEs from various sources:
11/10/14 03:05:29,052 SleepServicesD[71]: FIXME: IOUnserialize has detected a string that is not valid UTF-8, "Q

    11/10/14 09:25:45,215 configd[17]: FIXME: IOUnserialize has detected a string that is not valid UTF-8, "1 ".

  • Photoshop has detected graphics hardware that is not officially supported for 3d

From what I've read I thought 512 MB or vRAM would work with 3d. It used to anyhow. I get the pop up that says it's not officially supported for 3d, and has temporarily disabled 3d functionality.

Anyone have any ideas, or maybe I'm missing something. Nothing like getting an update and it busting what used to work. Dang!

I can get into the 3d pref area, but not the pull down menu area at all. It's grey'd out now that I did the update.
I just find it weird that the card is on the approved list, and meets the requirments and used to work. But yeah this mac is a few years old at this point. I'm just hoping that someone at Adobe reads this and can shed some light. I'm hoping maybe there's a button I need to click on, or something cheaper then buying an entire new computer when I really don't think I need to. Photoshop has really bloated up!

  • Finder[187]: FIXME: IOUnserialize has detected a string that is not valid UTF-8, "1

    Please what this means?

    joan19,
at this point, your choices are either:
    live with this message appearing in the Console, and hope that a future Software Update fixes it;
    reïnstall Mavericks on your Mac mini, and hope that the message does not reäppear in the Console;
restore the old disk with your previous version of OS X into your Mac mini.
The “FIXME” string strongly suggests that someone at Apple did not incorporate thorough error handling into this piece of their IOUnserialize code, so Apple will need to take some action to resolve this situation in Mavericks.

  • Finder: FIXME: IOUnserialize has detected a string that is not valid UTF-8, "

See this message a week ago in the console. I've upgrade my Macbook Pro Mid 2010 the last three years vom SL to Lion, Ml and now Mavericks. After seeing this message, I decide for a clean install.
All runs fine, but the message appears in the console and commes with every click in the finder.app. What does the message say and what can I do?

I have a Macbook Pro 2008 13' unibody, currently running OS 10.7.5.  I believe this is caused by my 3rd-party battery replacement.  If you have a 3rd-party battery, try removing it and running on AC power and see if the problem remains.

Did you do it using the latest iPod updater? In fact, you may want to find a past version of the updater and not use the utility bundled in iTunes 7.0.1.

  • PDFX1a 2001  - WebNative has detected message appears?

From within indesign CS5 I have to export HIRES pdf files using the above settings. But when I go to export the pdf I have a message appear
'WebNative has detected that the Exported PDF not work with the PDF imaged Replacement worflow. Compatibility must be Acrobat 5 (PDF 1.4) or above and Stabdards Compliance must be none.'
After exporting the file I'm seeing thin lines in the pdf file. I have turned off smooth art in acrobat which looks fine, but when dragged into PS the lines are there?
Has anyone else seen this nessage before using PDFX1a 2001.
    lister

    Thanks guys,
it seems like the Machine im working on has a plugin using WebNative tool?. Unfortunately I have no admin rights to the extensions so I cant seem to turn off this feature. Is PDF/X-1a 2001(PDF 1.3) a standard Printer option these days? I suppose most printers supply their own pdf and flatterning settings.
I switched the PDF/X-1a 2001 to PDF1.4 instead of 1.3 and changed the Flatterner preset to 2540ppi and it bypassed this error. Also the lines dissapeared (Acrobat still highlighted the flatterning so I turned the pref off, rasterised the pdf in PS and the lines were gone.)
it seems to only pop up when using the PDF settings.
    Thanks

  • SMS not stored in the phone with new version of PC...

After upgrading PC Suite v6.8 rel 22 to v6.81 rel 13 my SMS messages sent from PC are not stored in the phone. With the previous version of PC Suite SMS's were stored in the phone.
Is this by-design behaviour of the new version or is it a bug?
    My configuration is:

    Windows XP Pro SP2

Tomas, I have seen the same behaviour and have been wondering that I am absolutely sure it used to work. So for me that is a bug until proven otherwise. Let's hope an update to PC Suite will fix it in the future.

  • Album Covers Not Stored in ID3?

It appears that album covers are downloaded into some funky apple/itms format (folder based in your itunes library dirs). Is that accurate? Could it be that the ID3 tags have been completely ignored, and the "Get Album Artwork" command doesn't make the artwork available to anything but iTunes?
    That'd be most unfortunate.

It's most definitely not stored in the ID3 tag. If I download album art thru iTunes to an album and then look at any song in that album in another ID3 editing program (a la Rage Media) the artwork is missing. That makes the feature virtually unusable to me.
iTunes does read the artwork from the ID3 tag if it's there, however, so coverflow will work if you use a different program to grab artwork.
Also, the download album art feature is super picky, the genre seems to be the toughest to match since I don't use standard genres.
It's too bad, it would have made a very nice feature. I can see a single justification for not storing the album art in the ID3, but it's not compelling enough for me in these days of massive storage capabilities: They might have thought they'd save the disk space of adding 300k album art to every mp3 when they could reference a single instance of the image from each file. I'll have to pull apart the metadata to figure out how they're doing it (if it's even done in the file itself...)
