Changes to Contribute Connections - a howto?

Hello all...
have one client who we host for that uses Contribute - and
we're about to change servers for them, but I've no idea (and they
don't either) as to "what" to do to allow them to connect to the
new server. They do have a pretty simple connection key, so what
I'd like is a how-to on how to change that for the new server.
Perhaps it's as simple as changing the IP or some such item...but
as we dont' own same I've no idea on how to accomplish this. Is
there someone here who can provide a short quick stepbystep guide
to same?
Jim

I have exactly the same problem. It seems like I can't edit
the connection
key and that I have to create the Publisher settigns all over
again.
Furthermore, after doing that (I administer the site from DW
2004), the new
role settings won't stick. They are gone the moment I close
the dialog.
What I would like to do if possible would be to:
1) Just change the connection settings to the new server in
the old
connection key.
If that's not possible, I would like to:
2) Import the old Publisher role settings. It seems however
like they are
stored on the old server to which I no longer have access,
and the domain is
moved of course, so the http address and the ftp address
don't match any
longer.

  • The contribute connection I setup for my client doesn't work for him, but it does for me

I setup a Contribute connection for a client (I have Mac OS X 10.4.11). I tested the connection in another computer (a mac on the same network) and it works just fine. However when my client launches the connection in his computer (a pc) it get this error:
"Contribute could not verify your connection key. A network connection to the server could not be establiched. Please contact your administrator for assistance".
I'm the administrator, but it's hard for me to troobleshoot him, becuase the connection works fine for me. He also got a second error message:
"Contribute could not connect because the server is down or not accepting connections. Please contact your administrator."
I told my client to wait and try again later (I have had to do that in the past when setting my own connections, sometimes it works right away, sometimes the server doesn't respond on the spot). However I would like to know if any body else have had these issues and if the problem could be a network connection, and internet connection a mac-pc incompatibility, or.. what else????
    I appreciate any advice.
    Thanks,
    Adriana

    Hi,
So this is a "real" AIM Name (Not an @mac.com or MobileMe valid AIM Name) ?
You can login on an older Mac  And presumably Here ?
If you Migrated a User to the new computer you may find you don't have permission to Write to the Keychain and that chaning the Passsowrd is not actually doing anything.
In Lion go to the Finder > GO Menu and hold th ALT key so you can select Library
    In the Library open Keychains
    Highlight the Login.keychain.
Do a Get Info (CMD (⌘) + i keys together).
At the bottom of the panel that shows should be Permissions and Ownership
Your Account's shortname should be in the list.
You should have Read and Write Permissions (you may need to click the Padlock)
With the padlock Unlocked also click the cogwheel type icon and see if you are listed as "Make (Shortname) the Owner" (it should be greyed out if you already Own the file).
In Applications/Utilities and opening Keychain Access should also list as many entries for the AIM name as you have changed the password for  (it creates a new entry rather than changing it)
Check that one of these does hold the right Password. (Delete the others if required)
I know that iCloud created @me.com names will only work in ichat 6 and the Messages Beta due to the way iChat 6 and above login to me.com and AIM so that AIM gets permission to read the password.
I have not heard of this issue the other way round.

  • Changed FTP - "contribute cannot remove the administrative settings"

We developed a major site at a temporary subdomain on our server. Then, we changed that subdomain (to replace an old version of the site with this new version).
I created a new FTP account for this new location. (The files are at the same place on the server, but under a new http:// location) This FTP account works fine with other FTP client software.
When I try to create a new Contribute connection (using CS4), it notices the site has moved and asks whether I want to remove the administrative settings. I say "yes." When I do, the error message I keep getting is "contribute cannot remove the administrative settings."
I double checked file permissions for all the files within the /_mm subdirectory. They were set at 644 (for files), so I changed them to all to 664 to include access by the new username.
Any ideas as to why Contribute can't "clear the slate?" And is there some way to force this, even erasing files manually?
    Best,
    Greg

    Hi,
Can you change the ownership of the files and folders in the _MM folder and also that of _MM folder, to the new FTP user, and then try removing the administration settings?
Also, I wanted to ask, does the new FTP user belongs to the same user group as that of the old user, if not, try adding the new FTP user to the same group and then try removing the administration.
         Hope this helps.

  • Way to change database control connection at runtime

Is there a way to change the database connection (the @jc:connection data-source-jndi-name) at runtime? I want to build only one database control and be able to use it against different connections.

    Hi,
There is no way to do this as of now.
Ejbcontrol and service control has a method setJndiName and setEndPoint(wsdl url) respectively to do so. But database control doesn't and is a good enhancement.
    Thanks a lot,

  • I have changed my internet connection to Huawei e586 modem 3g 4g wireless modem my Air Play not working any more

I have apple TV 3rd generation it use to work fine through the previous modem(THOMSON TG585 v7)
I have changed my internet connection now using Huawei e586 modem 3g 4g wireless modem
At the moment There is internet connection in the apple TV  I can manage only through the apple remote. But I can’t  AIR PLAY or mirroring from iphone
I can see the AIR Play but I can’t play any music or video in the apple TV. Also I am sure I have activated the home sharing in  I tunes/Remote app/apple TV
Personally I think because the connection setting, but I do not know how to fix it can someone advise please?

    MOG,
I have a similar problem with this HG8245, but I can't even see the airplay icon in my iOS devices nor my MB Pro. However, I discover by accident that it works very well if I connect the ATV through the wifi interface (tested with my iPhone 4 and iPad 3Gen both w/iOS 6.0.1, and my MB Pro w/OS X 10.8.2). But as soon as I connect the ATV through the ethernet port, it disappears from all my devices.
So my guess is that there is some issue (i.e. undocumented filtering)  between the wifi and the ethernet interfaces. I have reviewed the HG8245 configuration  but I haven't found how to solve this. Have you figured out how to solve it? I will try to use some port scanner to see if there is some difference im using the wifi and the ethernet ports and will post the findings.

  • Change Dynamic Prompt connection

    Hello,
We migrated our Crystal Reports 12.2.0.290 reports (Off SAP ECC) from dev to QA environment. After changing the datasource connection to point to QA infosets, when we refresh the report the prompt LOV still points to Dev. We know this as before prompting we get a screen to enter our Dev userid/password and we see the Dev in server name and database name.
Is there a way to change the prompt connection to QA? Or do we have to have to create new prompts in QA?
    Thanks,
    Nikhil

  • Contribute connection problems, http proxy?

I've been trying to set up a contribute connection on a client machine for a while now without any luck, Adobe support haven't been much help at all.
We're using CS4 on a vista machine, connecting to a website via normal FTP. The FTP connection itself seems fine.. and we've connected to the site from this machine with normal ftp and downloaded/uploaded without problems. Don't have any problems setting up contribute on other machines for this site either. One symptom is that contribute always has trouble determining the remote path (on this machine only).
We can connect to the website ok via Internet Explorer on the same machine. However, I noticed that IE is setup to use a proxy server for web connections.
I'm wondering whether this is the problem - can Contribute use a proxy server for the HTTP part of its operation?
    Pat.

If you have specified HTTP proxy in IE, Contribute uses it for HTTP part of the operation. If on that machine FTP is also configured to use a proxy server, in Contribute you can specify the same in the Preferences dialog of Contribute. There is FTP proxy setting in the Preferences dialog, where you can specify the address of the FTP proxy server.
    Hope this helps.

  • Contribute connection key

What and where is the Contribute connection key?

    Moved to Contribute General Discussion
From Set up site connection | Contribute
    Use a connection key
Connection keys are files created by site Administrators that sets up the site connection automatically. Connection keys have the extension STC. For example, connection1.stc. A connection key includes connection information for a site, as well as the group which a user is assigned for that connection.
Please see the above document for more information.

  • Changing ISPs, lost connection

I have gone from using a DSL connection to Cable, and though my Airport picks up the connection to the ISP (4 bars), I cannot connect to the Web at all. No matter what browser I use, I get a "Cannot find connection" message, and I am wondering how to get online. Right now, I am using a public connection (piggybacking). I have never needed a router to connect previously, and my Cable provider was not very helpful about in their tech response. We also run a PC, and that is connecting over the modem with no problem. Any thoughts? Thanks,
    Jeanlin
    iBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Many thanks...I will try this. Is a router necessary with a cable modem and Airport?
    Jeanlin
Jeanlin, Welcome to the discussion area!
Ensure that whenever you change the Ethernet
connection on the cable modem from one device (the
PC) to another (the AirPort Express [AX]) you
should power down the cable modem. This causes the
cable modem to forget the device it was talking to
and now it will start talking with a new device.
You will also need to configure the AX to connect to
the cable ISP using the same settings you use to
connect the PC to the cable ISP.

  • Steps to change universe database connection from SQL server to Oracle 10

    Hi,
we are moving from sql server to Oracle 10.Please let me know the steps and various parameters I should consider while changing universe database connection from SQL server to Oracle 10.
Following are the steps which I assumed :
    1.     create a new Oracle database connection or edit the existing connection to point to Oracle server
    2.     Need to check sql for each object, having integrity check for universe will solve the purpose of parsing each object
    3.     Exporting the universe after integrity check
    4.     Report data testing
Let me know if I miss on any steps. Also what all factors I need to consider while moving to Oracle for eg: what @ custom sql, what @ table names, what @ LOV etc.
    Kindly reply

    Thanks Abhijeet and Shreyash,
I will follow the steps you have suggested.
Actually I was searching for this on net and got to know that with Oracle database connection, theres lot of stuff needs to take care of in terms of custom sql and LOV and in our case,we have lot of custom sql for each object in the universe so just wanted to confirm.
I will do the changes and let you guys know in case theres any isuue specifically to Oracle.
