Changes to HDCP support since ATV 2.2?

Is there a verdicht on whether Apple has changed HDCP support in the latest release of Apple TV software (2.2). Before this release I could buy and play movies from iTunes as long as it was stated that the movie was available in HD on Apple TV. Since 2.2 I cannot view movies bought with that statement on my Apple TV. I get the infamous HDCP error message.
I've read a lot about HDCP issues on this and other foras. It is yet unclear to me when it works, when it doesn't, what is supported, etc. My Apple TV is connected with an HDMI to DVI cable to a Beovision 6-22 television.
Any clarification appreciated.

I am not sure this is entirely true. I can buy/rent whatever I want through iTunes. Whether it will play on Apple TV is the question. And on my Apple TV I can see a whole lot of movies but when I attempt to either rent/buy them I get the HDCP error message.
In the past I bought 'No Country For Old Men' as an HD movie and that just plays fine on my Apple TV. But after that I bought (amongst others) 'The Happening' and 'The Birds' and they don't play on my Apple TV.
What I notice when doing a Get Info on these movies from iTunes is that 'No Country for Old Men' has a FairPlay version 2 and 'The Happening' and 'The Birds' do have FairPlay version 3.
That might determining wheter I can play the movie on my (not HDCP-ready) television.
And how can I simply find movies that I can play on my Apple TV and television knowing that it is not HDCP-ready? E.g. search for SD movies for example....

Since I last updated ATV my own tv no longer supports my ATV. On my HDMI channel it is picking up different Hz levels ranging from 18 Hz to 180 Hz when ATV is plugged in. A few times some white lines have appeared on the screen as though it is trying to connect. I have tested a different HDMI chord and that didn't have any effect and I've reset my Wi-if router. My tv still supports my bluray DVD player through the HDMI port. I want to update my ATV as I think that will fix the problem, but I can't see the menu on the tv to do so. Is there any way I can do this via iTunes or iPad?

What TV are you using? Did you try switching ports?
Yes, you can connect to iTunes via micro usb. It will restore the system and install the latest firmware.

Frustrating HDMI/HDCP issues with ATV and Onkyo receiver

After two frustrating weeks of trouble shooting, I would like to share with you my situation.
Two weeks ago I upgraded our living room HT to a new Onkyo TX-SR707 receiver and a new ATV (connected by HDI). The system includes a ComcastHD DVR (connected by HDMI) and an older DVD player (connected by component). The TV is a five year old Samsung RP DLP 1080i (also connected by HDMI to the new receiver).
The connections to the DVD player and the ComcastHD DVR have been flawless. When I first connected the ATV I went to the set up menu, connected to an AE base station (g) and uploaded a few hundred pics and homemade videos, no movies or music from iTunes. Since then, the receiver seems to have a great deal of trouble switching on to the ATV. I have made the following corrections:
All HDMI cables were unplugged and re-plugged.
All HDMi cables were upgraded to the Munster Cable "top of the line"
Switched the ComcastHD DVR and the ATV to other HDMI in connections in the back of the receiver
Re-setted the ATV to factory and uploaded only pics.
Made sure that the receiver was set to "Through" on the Monitor Out connection so that it would not do any upscaling.
Made sure that the HDMI option in the ATV was at AUTO. I also tried ALL the other options under HDMI
Changed the resolution on the ATV to all of the others, with the exception of 480P, no improvement.
None of the above worked. I then took the ATV to my main home theater in the basement. It has an older Onkyo TX-SR875 with an overhead JVC RS1 projector, Oppo Blu-Ray and a ComcastHD DVR. All the components were connected with HDMI, including the ATV. Guess what happen? The ATV worked in my basement like a charm!!
The problem is that I don't want the ATV in the basement HT, but upstairs so that the family can enjoy the pics and home made movies. After the ATV test in the basement, I took it back upstairs to the Onkyo 707 receiver. Guess what? Once again it could not switch from any components to the ATV except under these two circumstances:
1. If I selected ATV on the receiver and it did not connect, after turning the receiver off for 10 seconds it connected perfectly well. If I then switched to any other compoment, I could not switch back to the ATV unless I turned the receiver off again for ten seconds.
2. I turned the resolution of the ATV to 480P and guess what? The problem is gone!
It seems that there is an HDMI handshake or HDCP problem between the Onkyo 707 and the ATV. Given that the lower resolution doesn't uses HDCP that could be the issue, but this was not a problem at all in the basement HT with the Onkyo 875 receiver.
The one big difference between these two receivers is that the video processing CPU is a Faroudja for the 707 (where I can't get the ATV to work properly) and the 875 uses the Reon-HQV.
I would greatly appreciate any comments.

I think there's a general misconception about HDMI cables, I'm not convinced it's a case that there is no difference. Quality is usually determined by the diameter or more importantly the uniformity of the diameter of the individual strands of the cable, it is also affected by the precision of the length of each strand and the purity thereof.
More expensive cables tend to be of higher quality by virtue of better quality control, needless to say there are minimum standards for such cables and in this sense, cheap or expensive, all types of cable will meet this standard.
Personally I avoid cheap cables, but I'm not convinced there's a need to spend the sort of money some cables are priced at, nor am I convinced they are proportionally higher in quality.

"The file [name of file] may have been changed by another user since you last saved it." Issue affects both network and local files.

When a certain user saves a file in Excel 2010, she gets a message: "The file <name of file> may have been changed by another user since you last saved it." She can choose to save as another file or overwrite with her changes.
This just started happening a week or so ago. She was concerned that someone else was accessing her files, but we did several tests that opened, made a change and saved in a matter of seconds, and she still gets the message. It happens on
most files, but not all – both network and local.
We already tried the QFE_Saskatchewan registry fix. I also checked the file server for Services for Macintosh.

You may be confused by the error in Excel saying “another user”. Actually Excel cannot tell who (the real human) is editing the file. Based on my research the No.1 possibility of the error is KB2626998.

For Excel 2010, follow these steps:
a. Click Start , click Run , type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK .
b. Locate and then select the following registry subkey: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Excel\Options
c. On the Edit menu, point to New , and then click Dword Value .
d. Type NetworkAvailableTimeInSeconds , and then press Enter.
e. Right-click NetworkAvailableTimeInSeconds , and then click Modify .
f. In the Value data box, click Decimal , type a number value, and then click OK .
Note This registry subkey sets the time, in seconds, that Excel waits for the network to resume. For example, if you type 15 for the number value, Excel waits 15 seconds for the network to resume. You might have to do some tests in your own environment to
determine an appropriate value. You may have to try multiple numbers.
g. Locate and then select the following registry subkey.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\office\14.0\common\Internet
h. Repeat step 2C through step 2F again. Reuse the same value that you used previously.
i. Exit Registry Editor.

There are several possible causes for this problem.
1. Two (or more) computers on the local network have the same Bonjour name, such as "X's-MacBook-Pro.local".
2. You have two simultaneous connections to the same local network: probably Ethernet and Wi-Fi. If applicable, disconnect the Ethernet cable or turn off Wi-Fi.
3. A Mac wakes from sleep due to network traffic. This is due to a bug in OS X that may only affect some models.
4. A device that gets its network address from the router wakes from sleep, and the address it was using before has been assigned to another device.
5. A third-party wireless router has incompatible settings or firmware. In that case, refer to the manufacturer or ISP for support. Restarting the router may help, temporarily.

Turn off your printer.
Go to System Preferences > Print & Scan > Printers window and delete the printer from the list, then add it back.
Turn on your printer.

Yes, back on 2007 I chose xdcdx.

I login to Apple Support Communities (which I had not logged in to since 2007) and to my surprise I see this nickname that I almost didn't remember using here.
For me, it's irrational that I am able to change the main email address of my Apple ID (is there any piece of information more important than that?), but not this little username on this subpar forum system (subpar because of the web design/engineering, I don't mean to offend all the people here which are always quite helpful).
I upgrade to iCloud, and my email address gets hardcoded to my Apple ID. That's good, because I want this email address. In that case, they make sure to warn you that you had to chose an email address as an Apple ID for iCloud. That was not the case in this forums.

At least you do not seem to disagree with me that these forum are subpar compared to the usual Apple perfectionism level (see iCloud nice web user interface, for another fine example). This thing still looks like a forum from 2007.

I still am not convinced that it is technically that difficult. I think it just a policy on part of Apple to avoid banal username change requests.

HDCP Support?

I am trying to run a program called DirecTV2PC that allows me to watch programs recorded on my DirecTV receiver on my home workstation while I'm working. When I log in and select any show to watch, it displays a message that states:
"The video's audio is protected and requires
an audio driver with HDCP support; changing
the audio output to analog might allow audio
playback."
I am using an Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro and the sound is being output thru analog cables to my Klipsch Promedia THX speakers. As far as I know the only output I have enabled is analog. (Is there a way to double check this?)
Any suggestions on fixing this problem? Are there any plans for offering any type of HDCP support to the drivers for these products or if not does anyone have any suggestions for a work-around?

Well, I hope you managed to fix it by now, however for those that may come along with the same issue...
I installed Directv2PC on my computer and had the same issue...Nothing would play. All the recorded shows poped up the error message...

The fix was really easy, even if I dont really understand WTF is going on. LOL
First, I'll give my specs...Dell XPS 730 running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit - dual 22" monitors - Soundblaster X-fi audio card and GeForce 9800 GT video card.
What I did was go to Control Panel > Sound...On the Playback Tab there were two devices.
1. Speakers/Creative SB X-Fi/Default Device
2. SPDIF Out/Creative SB X-Fi
I'm running a Dell branded 5. Surround Sound Speakers off the audio card, nothing hooked into the SPDIF port.
I disabled SPDIF Out and poof, Directv2PC plays the shows I recorded.
Even though it was not being used, the fact that it was there (and I'm guessing not using HDCP suppored Drivers) was enough for the program to not work. There is a post on Directv's Forums where a guy used Dell's onboard audio instead of his Soundblaster Card and got Directv2PC to use SPDIF (so one could assume Dell's latest SigmaTel drivers are HDCP compliant.)? Whatever, all I know is it worked for me.

I am trying to modify the value of the field "Job Code" through API I am getting the following error.(OIM11gr2). I do not get this error when updating the other fields. QE: Yes, look out for test cases that incorrectly create a CSSStyleDeclaration with a selector AND also use StyleManager.setStyleDeclaration(). I saw one invalid usage in the mustella test file: tests/Managers/StyleManager/AdvancedCSS/mixedSelectors/AdvancedCSS_MixedSelectors, specifically the "CSSStyleDeclaration_CSSSelectorKind_Type_method" test case.
Doc: Yes, please remove any examples that showed a CSSStyleDeclaration being constructed with a "name" as that is incorrect. You only construct these instances with a selector, or nothing.

Found a note explaining the significance of these errors.
It says:
"NZE-28862: SSL connection failed
Cause: This error occurred because the peer closed the connection.
Action: Enable Oracle Net tracing on both sides and examine the trace output. Contact Oracle Customer support with the trace output."

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Assuming this is not the first time you have used your Apple TV
You might try restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Also try restarting the router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
If the problem persists, try a restore, you may want to try the previous procedures several times before doing this.
If restoring from the Apple TV doesn't help, try restoring from iTunes using a USB cable.
If this is a new Apple TV, in addition to trying the above, it may also be that your network router is not allowing access to the timeserver, check that your router allows access over port 123.
