Changing a 720x405 animated sequence to fit anamorphic screen

Hi to all,
I just recieved a series of jpegs for an animated pal anamorphic sequence.
They are in 720 x 405 (true pal 16/9) but should have probably been in 768 x 576 to compensate for the 0.9 pixel width.
So in my Pal seq i get either a doubly vertically squeezed image but it fits horizontaly (when i flag it as anamorphic), and when i don't flag it , i get a correct looking anamorphic image with borders on all sides.
These jpeg series can not be rerendered. Time does not permit it. So i've scaled the 3D animation to make it fit vertically, and then squeezd the aspect ratio to make it fit horizontally. The aspect is not quite correct but it fills the screen. And loses quality!
Any suggestions on how i could solve this 720 x 405 problem with minimum quality loss, and have it fit my screen?
thank you for all your help,
Tee.

Interactive PDF on a mobile device is a crapshoot. The reader apps are all
over the place as far as capability.
If you can control the app, great, but if you’re sending the PDF you’re
taking a shot that the recipient will have a reader capable of displaying
it.
You might consider creating a DPS folio and using the Adobe Content Viewer
to either share of display it. DPS is far more capable of interactivity.
We have a forum dedicated to it: https://forums.adobe.com/community/dps

  • Can I change the transition animation in Preview's full-screen mode?

When moving through a PDF file in Preview's full-screen mode, the pages slide off to the left/right when using arrow keys (up when using the space bar). I discovered that I can skip this animation by holding down the option key when I hit the arrow key, or by using a four-finger swipe.  But I'd like to use my remote to advance pages in the PDF, and I'd like to get rid of the transition animations permanently.  Is there a way to customize the transition animation preference? I don't see anything in the Preferences to do this.
    Thanks in advance.

Just as an update, Ralph explained (here) that in Snow Leopard, the iChat application no longer gets it's speed values from QuickTime.

  • Animating sequences of still images

    Dear Final Cut Pro Users,
Please forgive this totally ignorant question. I really don't know where else to turn!!!
I am interested in animating sequences of graphics images. I generate these images programatically, and they usually are of PDF or PNG format. What I would like to do is make a "super-movie" of these custom-generated movies. These little movies can be flying around on the screen, etc.
My eventual goal is to get these into Keynote for presentations. It is necessary that the movies maintain high resolution (up to the point that the computer can handle).
I called Apple, and they suggested that FCP was the program that I need. However, I also can think of Final Cut express, Flash (chokes on my files), After Effects, Motion (only comes with FCP?) etc.
Is FCP the tool to use? Is FCP "overkill" for what I am trying to do? Also, I am trying to balance capability, ease of use, price, and it's gotta run on an Intel iMac.
Unfortunately the complexity of all of these programs is so great that I would spend a year trying to figure them out from their trial versions. Would love to hear your opinions!!!
    Thanks,
    Eric
P.S. In case you are interested, I have a page posted:
    http://homepage.mac.com/eric.c.brown/alpha/
I just can't get these through Quicktime with any high-quality success, and I posted there the "primary data" -- eventually I would like to do much larger images.

Eric, I was afraid of that. Happens to me all the time. Our geospatial and chemistry crews use these HUGE applications that generate endless gigs of the coolest and totally useless images.
Highly technical animation (that they do not want altered for valid protection of the rigor) requires that I run their stuff through a compression system. They give me 800 horizontal lines and expect it look good when their WMV comes at at less than 200 lines so it can play on their laptops.
I'm going to suggest we work backwards.
    1. Tell us what your playback platform and movie formats should be to keep your boss happy.
    2. Tell us what the output of your animation programs is: Image size, resoltuion, format (QT, WMP, Real, AVI, etc.)
Then, if no one else has yet, we'll try to hook you up with a pipeline that makes sense. I'm thinking you are going to output from your applications as QT/AVI or WMP and encode/compress using Windows Media tools (free form those rats at Microsoft). You're not going to be enjoying the use of your Macintosh at all.
    bogiesan
Having said that, I have a very long pipeline. Starting with my quantum chemistry calculations (Fortran), I go to VTK for isosurfaces and meshes, then to Blender for "painting" of the meshes. Along side that, I have 2D plots in DISLIN. (All Fortran and python) But I could have gone the Povray path, another issue. From Blender and DISLIN, I need to arrange these into some kind of movie that will actually play on bosses' PC laptop and will let me make quick changes without having to re-render. Each of these programs are extremely complex. Even doing one small thing makes me wade through thousands of pages of manuals and out-of-date web pages. And, when it comes to making movies, there is so much choice!!!! Flash or Motion or After Effects or the extremely power FCP.... I guess that I have run out of gas in the exploration department. <</div>

  • Aspect ratio for animation integrated into dv anamorphic

    Hi,
I'm working on a sequence with 23.98fps footage that was shot in miniDV with a Panasonic DVX100b, anamorphic. I'm incorporating some animation sequences into this cut and am a little unsure of what aspect ratio/resolution to advise the animator to work in (animation will be done in after effects). Final output will be for film festival screenings and possible broadcast on TV.
    My sequence/clip settings are 23.98fps, 16x9, 720x480.
    1. Is it advisable to have the animation done in a higher resolution (like HD) in case I want to upres at the end of the project (this is a film) or will that just complicate integrating the animation into the sequence of minidv footage?
    2. If I just wanted the animation to match the footage in my sequence at its current resolution and aspect ratio, what are the optimal specs?
Sorry if this seems like a basic question, any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It's actually not really a basic question at all. Just the fact that you know there are different settings for raster size and pixel aspect ratio puts you ahead of the curve around here.
The good news is that virtually anything your animator gives you can be cut into your timeline. Final Cut is remarkably adept at taking footage in other formats and making it work.
But to make the job as easy as possible, tell your animator to use the "NTSC DV anamorphic" composition preset in After Effects. I don't remember exactly how the preset name is worded; my After Effects is in my suite, and I'm at home. But it's something like that. It's 720x480, anamorphic pixels, and can be set to 23.976.
Your animator should be warned, if he doesn't already know, that After Effects does a shockingly bad job of compensating for non-square pixels on screen. If he toggles that "correct for aspect ratio" button, he'll see lots of jaggies that simply won't exist when you view the footage in Final Cut, or when you watch it on TV at the end of the day. He can get around this by using a broadcast monitor and After Effects' "video preview" feature, if he's so equipped.
Whether you'll get more aesthetically pleasing results by having him work at a higher resolution and then downsampling to DV is tough to say, because it depends on what kind of work he's producing for you. Maybe you should have him do a short shot for you in DV, then cut it in with your other footage and see how it looks. If you're happy with it, great, problem solved. If not, you can try other options. But you might be introducing complexity for no reason.

  • How to stop animation sequence at a frame number?

    Hi all
I've just recently started learning Flash (I have CS4) and I
have a small simple animated sequence at the start which then leads
    to the main home page.
now the animation part works fine but when I test it it just
runs right through - it doesn't stop at my main page which then the
viewer will click a button to go to a different part of the site
    etc.
I've tried adding a stop actionscript but I'm sure I'm not
doing it right! how do I refer the stop to the animation... do I
have to enter the frame number I want it stopped at etc?
if anyone can make any suggestions or point me in the
direction of a tutorial (or the correct wording for me to do a
search myself) then I would be very grateful!
Thank you for your time :-)

Thanks.. I manage to miss off the semi-colon and put the
double dotted one (I've just gone blank on it's name) *sigh*
I always manage to miss something 'small' off and then takes
    forever to spot it!
    thanks for your help.

  • I need to create an animation sequence in photoshop cs6 longer than 5 seconds

I need to create an animation sequence in photoshop cs6 longer than 5 seconds. please help.

What problem are you having that should be easy just create the layer to make frames with. Create a frame animation in the timeline panel. Create the frames and set their display time. Save an animated gif for the web ie "Save For Web"
Prior to CS6 Photoshop only had a Animation Palette in CS Adobe replaced the palette with the Timeline Palette that can do Frame animations and Video. You can render a fame animation as a video but video does not support transparency like and animated Gif.

  • File error importing animated sequence in fcp

hi, wondering if anyone can help, I have been sent some animated sequences and want to edit them in final cut studio.
they play in quicktime fine but if i import into fcp then i get the error : file error: 1 file(s) recognized, o access denied, 1 unknown.
I tried exporting and saving as other formats such as dv or quicktim e in quicktime pro but they all failed half way thru saving.
    any ideas?
    ade
movie info in quicktime is - animation 768x576 millions 25fps

    Hi,
I forgot why FCP gave me that message the last time around, but whenever something like this happens, FCP has problems with the file you want to import because of a codec issue for example. I find MPEG Streamclip to be very useful when this happens.
You can download and use it for free:
    http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html
Simply open your movie with Streamclip and export as QT movie (I normally use the Animation codec so I lose as little image quality as possible). Then import into FCP and it will open.
    Most of the time.
    Hope this helps,
    Colin

  • Can you make FLV type controls on a animation sequence

    Hi All,
Another newbie question. If I am making a flash animation sequence (no video) is it possible to make complex controls similar to a FLV skin. I was able to make a toggle button to pause and play timeline and sound but wanted more features; go back, start over and maybe a progress bar with timing show length or just a time counter of your swf and you current place in the timeline. I thought this would be easy but I'v been searching and can't find any answers, so is it possible? Client is  looking to replicate or something like this link or better.

  • How to get FCP to recognize an animation sequence, not individual clips ?

    Hello All;
Could someone tell me how to get FCP to recognize a .png animation sequence (Exported from After-Effects) ? When I place the directory or files onto the timeline, I get a project 27 minutes long, rather than 10 seconds like it should be. I know this must be easy and I'm just missing something.
    Tim

You exported a .png image sequence from After Effects?
    Three choices:
    1) In Final Cut Pro, click anywhere in the 27 minute long timeline and type Command + A to select all the clips. Once they are all selected Control Click on any one of the selected clips, and from the drop down menu choose Duration. Set the duration each clip is supposed to be ( 1 frame? 3 frames?) and click OK.
    2) In Final Cut Pro, go to the menu Final Cut Pro > User Preferences. When The User Preferences open, click on the Editing Tab. Set the Still/Freeze duration to the duration you want for each of the stills in your image sequence and click OK. You will then need to re-import the stills, and they will now each be the new duration. This does not work on the stills you have already imported- you need to import the stills again.
    3) Open Quicktime Pro (Quicktime Player 7) and go to the menu File > Open Image Sequence. . .
Navigate to the first frame of your image sequence and click Open. You will be asked to pick your frame rate. Set that and click OK.
When it opens, go to the menu File > Export and the Save Exported File As . . . window will open. Choose the codec you want for your animation (Pro Res, most likely) and, determine a location for the file and click Save. The image sequence will be exported as a Movie in the frame rate and codec you chose. Import that movie into FCP to edit or composite.

  • How do I make PDFs OPEN and fit my screen?

Every time I open a PDF, the document opens larger than my screen. How do I make the document fit the screen I have?
This is absolutely NOT a zoom problem.
I have a 15 inch laptop. It has a screen that is about 12 inches wide x 7.5 inches high.
I open a PDF, and the document opens on my screen so that the entire document is more like 13 inches wide, and 10 inches high. The top menu bar, where I would grab to move, change zoom, enlarge, or, for that matter, CLOSE the document is like 2-2.5 inches OFF the TOP of my screen.
I can change zoom - it only changes the size of the contents in the window, never the actual window size, and the problem is the window size.
So the question is, why does PDF even open a window larger than my screen supports, and how do I stop it.
This is not new - this should by now be a known serious flaw with Adobe Reader and Acrobat and regularly happens with PDFs, and has for years. If I have a second monitor, I can drag the side of the window over onto my second monitor, and then shrink it. But, if I  am traveling, so without my second monitor, it effectively means the only thing I can do with any PDF is right click on the bottom menu bar and "Close all windows"
Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8.

Try clicking the arrows top right  corner of your Safari window or Control + Command + F on your keyboard.

  • "Fit on Screen" doesn't

After upgrading to Photoshop CS5, I find that the "Fit on Screen" command doesn't fit on the visible screen any more in Full Screen Mode with Menu Bar. Instead, the image is centered on the screen, leaving a large open space on the left side and putting the right side of the image well behind palettes docked to the right side of the screen.
I tried changing the Zoom Resizes Window setting, but it has no effect on this misbehavior.
The previous version I had of Photoshop did this correctly, fitting the image so that it would be entirely visible.
    What is the fix?

Here's an example of the problem. Depending on exactly where I place the palettes on the right and whether I dock them or not, Fit on Screen will make the image larger or smaller, but it will always hide the right part of the image behind the palettes.

  • E-mail won't fit the screen, anyone help?

    Hey all-
I just "upgraded" (sorry, frustrated with this issue) my Curve to the 9350 and for every e-mail I receive I have to scroll left and right to be able to view the whole e-mail or use the zoom feature on every e-mail to make it fit the screen.
Is there a way to have the Curve do this automatically so that I don't have to scroll four directions but just up and down?  My old Curve didn't have this issue.
    Thanks a ton in advance,
    Brad

    Hi PurdueBrad,
    Welcome to the support community!
Can you please check and tell me what size the font is set to on your BlackBerry Curve 9350 smartphone? You can find this setting in Options > Display > Screen Display. Does changing the font size make any difference in the message display?
I look forward to your response.

  • How to adjust the AICC compliant CBT's to fit all screen sizes across browsers in Captivate 4

    Hi,
I have made changed my Adobe Captivate 4 files to be AICC compliant by changing the Settings in Preferences.
When I publish the files, the standard.js file no longer adjusts the CBT's to fit all screen sizes across browsers, as it was doing before by adding the below code -
    <style type="text/css"> html, body, #CaptivateContent { height:100%; }
    body { text-align:center; margin:0; padding:0; overflow:hidden; }
    </style>
Is there a way to scale Adobe Captivate AICC compliant files across different browsers?
    Thanks!

That code doesn't go in the standard.js file but goes in the head of the HTM template used for AICC output.
Look in your Captivate install directory for the Templates > Publish > AICC > Default.HTM file and add the code there.

  • Picture wont fit the screen

    All,
i am using my macbook pro on my tv it a 32 in. sony LCD and i cant get the picture to fit right, with overscan it cuts off some of the screen (the whole menu bar) and with overscan off i have a smaller screen on the tv (black around all sides). i am using a DVI to HDMI cable. any help?!!

Have you checked the resolution being output to the TV? Check the resolution of your TV, and then open System Preferences -> Displays. You can change the resolution to the TV there. It might solve the problem. It is possible, that due to resolution differences between the computer and TV, it won't fit the screen exactly.
