Changing a cycle in an active maintenance plan
Hello All,
I received a request from an end user to make a change to an active maintenance plan. The plan has a 3mo cycle. The users would like to first, generate a call for March 2011 and second, to change this to a an annual cycle. I am able to use the 'Restart in Cycle' to generate a call in March, unfortunately, I am not able to figure out how to change the cycle from 3mo to 12mo. Is it possible for to change the plan cycle from 3mo to 12mo once the plan is started? The header section in IP10 is grayed out.
At the moment, it looks as though I need to create a new maintenance plan to accommodate the request.
Thanks in advance.
Anna
Mahee,
Appreciate your quick response. This was a strategy plan and I was able to make the changes as you had suggested, through the task list.
Thank you so much for your help!

Default active maintenance plan in oracle 11g ?
Hi all,
I have a question about database resource manager.
As i know Oracle11g automatically use the Default_maintenance_plan in the Scheduler window MAINTENANCE_WINDOW_GROUP. And the default CPU resource allocation for SYS account (SYS_GROUP) is 75% (level1).
I open 3 separated terminals and run the below command with from SYS account concurrently:
select count(*) from all_objects, all_objects, all_objects;
Using top (linux) command to watch the CPU and hope it will raise to 75%, but it just raise up to nearly 50% (around). WHY CPU NOT RAISE to 75% ?
in 10g, it will.
Thanks.Maximum CPU Utilization Limit
Resource Manager provides a new directive called MAX_UTILIZATION_LIMIT that allows you to place a hard limit on the amount of CPU utilized by a consumer group.
The MAX_UTILIZATION_LIMIT directive is useful for limiting the CPU utilization of low priority workloads. This directive is also useful for providing more consistent performance for the workload in a consumer group, and it helps to build systems where end users experience consistent response times for each database operation.

Change/restart start of cycle for strategy maintenance plan MPLA- STADT
Dear experts,
is it possible to change the start of cycle date in strategy maintenance plan (MPLA- STADT).
The start of cycle was entered incorrectly into the strategy maintenance plan (IP42)
Maint. plan was already started
...and called: Service orders are already created
The existing maint. plan should be used with a new cycle start date.
By using u201Crestartu201D in IP10, a new start of cycle date is entered and the orders are called correctly.
But the cycle start date is not updated in the data base: MPLA- STADT
Why?
Regards,
PhilippDear all,
I opened a OSS message. SAP replied that this is not covered by SAP standard. so system works as designed.
SAP:
The described behaviour is the SAP/R3 standard and works as designed.
IP16 only shows this field if it's updated in MPLA-STADT.
The 'Cycle start' resulting of scheduling (IP10) is kept in the table
MHIS (field STADT).
Transaction IP16 takes data from MPLA and does not read the entries
in MHIS. The only value that can therefore be shown as 'cycle start'
is the original value as recorded in MPLA.
Well, this explains why system behaves like it does.
But in my eyes this is not the correct system behavior.
If a maint. plan is restarted, future calls will be calculated based on
the new cycle date - what is ok.
But IP16 indicates the old cycle date!
In my eyes this is not correct because the list will show an incorrect
cycle date.
I was told to take a look at note 11:

Dear experts,
I face a problem that system get main work center from equipment master data as a default main work center in maintenance plan when creating maintenance plan. however, if main work center in equipment is changed later, the change will not synchronize to related maintenance plan. if work order is generated from maintenance plan, main work order in order is defaulted from maintenance plan instead of updated work center in equipment.
another problem is that, for those orders generated by maintenance plan, the work centers in operations is defaulted from task list in maintenance plan. in most case, work center in task list is dummy. Actually the work is done by work center in equipment master data.
My expectation is how to auto replace the main work center and work center of operations in work order with the one in equipment master data if order is generated by maintenance plan? is there any standard configuration or enhancement/BADi that can help with this requirement?
thanks!
WesleyWesley,
Sorry - development is the only way.
Another option is to create a batch program that runs before your IP30 run(s) and updates any maintenance items and task lists with the correct work centres.

Mass Re-start / Re-schedule of Maintenance Plan
Dear Sirs,
I have created a BDC which runs in the background at the end of every month.
This BDC creates a Strategy Maintenance Plan (IP42), the moment a new equipment is installed in the system & it automatically gets scheduled (IP10) as per the installed date.
After a while we came to know that the BDC was not taking the proper start cycle date & hence the Maintenance Plans which were created were scheduled on the wrong date. We have already solved the problem & have corrected the coding.
But we need to re-schedule all the earlier wrongly scheduled maintenance plans & delete the previous history.
When we tried to re-start the cycle manually through IP10 it was allowing us to delete the earlier records as well as to re-start the cycle.
But as there were thousands of Maintenance plan to be re-started, we planned to create a LSMW or BDC to do the same.
But while running the LSMW / BDC recording we are not able to delete the earlier records & those are showing as skipped.
We want the earlier records to be deleted & to re-start the new cycle.
Can you please tell me something that can be done through any std transaction like IP30 etc.
Regards,
YVK.

I am facing the same problem while creating recording for restarting scheduling maintenance plan in IP10 with LSMW , I am not getting the option screen as given below to delete or skip the call
as result I am not getting any field in " Maintain Field mapping and conversion rule"
Please help me for same. As I have scheduled 1000s of plan one month ago but client need to reshedule all with new start of cycle.

Counter based maintenance plan triggered improperly
Hi,
we have created one counter based maintenance plan with cycle unit 1000 hours offset unit 0 hours this plan was created on 21.04.2008 . But 68 orders triggered on 19.04.2011 why it was happend.
how find start of cycle reading for the Maintenance plan?
Regards
GaneshHi,
Counter based plan will work based on the Measuring point assigned to that.
In Measuring Point, you would have defined the Annual Estimate. Based on the Annual Estimate & Cycle value in Plan & Scheduling period in the plan, based on all these, call object would be generated.

Change start of cycle date in maintenance plan
Dear Experts,
We would like to change start of cycle date in maintenance plan. Iwe have rescheduled the plan but the start of cycle date remains the same.
could you please confirm, whether it can be changed. The requirement is because of some Mt plan created with future start date in production (Year-2020) and we want to correct the same.
ThanksDon,
To determine the next maintenance call date you need to tell the system when the last maintenance call occured
Example:
You want the next call date on the 1 June based on a six month cycle. Therefore the last maintenance date would have been 1 January (assuming key date scheduling).
In your case you need to RESTART your single-cycle plan on the 1 January and the system then calculates the next maintenance calls.

Change or Add Cycles in a Maintenance Plan (IP02)
good afternoon all,
we have an issue with a number of maintenance plans that were setup as 1 year cycles, and now we want to run them as monthly. Is there a way to either change the yearly cycle to monthly, or add a new monthly cycle?
SAP ECC6
Release 731 sp level 0007.
Thanks.Greetings Santosh,
You are correct, the key word here is "approximately", as the Cycle Modification Factor has only two decimals of precision, you will need to input 0,08 to reflect the appropriate factor of 1/12=0,08(3) - so that will mean your cycle is 360*0,08=28,8 and not 30 days, which is why I did not propose this route. But if it's not an issue, then yes, that's another way to do this
EDIT: Which reminds me, after switching the cycle to monthly, consider if you require Time or Key Date scheduling on the Maintenance Plan scheduling parameters, as for SAP 1 Month = 30 Days with the former, but with the latter the scheduling is always for the same day of each month. -
Maintenance Plan: Change Yearly cycle
Hello,
We created maintenance plans for an equipment that has: Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, and Yearly task.
THe date we initiated this maintenance plan was 6/1/2009. Is there a way to change the Yearly task date to 6/30/2010, but still keep the rest of the cycles the same dates?.
*Note we currently have a s'Schedule date of "0 days"
Thanks.Hi Jay,
I assume that you are using a Time Based Strategy Plan for this. I also assume that you have created Packages of Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, and Yearly in the Strategy & a Suitable Task list for it.
If you have not done my assumptions, please do them first and then carryout below steps. (Aviod weekly package if you want the date exactly on 06/30/2010, if it is compulsory then you will get approximately yearly package at that time)
After you create a Strategy plan for the Equipment and save.
Set Scheduling Indicator as Time-Key Date. (Possible only with packages in multiplications of Months)
Goto IP10 and Say Start in Cycle & give the Completion date as 6/30/2009 and in the Offset select the package as Yearly.
Now all the dates will adjust based on the requirement.

Changing Cycle Modification factor in a maintenance plan.
On the basis of MTBF of an equipment, Can i change cycle modification factor of any maintenance plan.i.e. suppose MTBF of an equipment if reaches to 3 months then cycle modification factor for all preventive plan should get multiplied by 1.5 automatically.
please suggest on this thanx
ravihi
in standard it will not automatically change ,you have to make it manually .
another workaround is create it like test equipment and follow the calibration process ,while making the usage decision you can specify the modification factor.

Table for maintenance plan and maintenance cycle and Unit
Hello,
I need to know the table where the values are stored for maintenance plan, maintenance cycle and Unit.
I know that we can get the maintenance cycle and unit from MMPT table.
Question 1
If the maintenance plan has only a single cycle then the data is stored in above table MMPT, but if a maintenance plan has mutiple cycles like 1 maintenance plan has maintenance cycle as 364 Days and 1092 days then the data is not stored in MMPt table.
Question 2
Requirement is I need to develop a report where in I need maintenance order, maintenance plan and the relevant maintenance cycle and unit. Supose an maintenance order is created for the above maintenance plan which has 2 maintenance cycle how can I identify for which maintenance cycle the order is created.

How to change maintenance Strategy in Maintenance Planning?
Hi Friends
In our maintenance plan, maintenance plan additional data, maintenance strategy is defined as 3M6M. Within this strategy, maintenance cycles are defined. Now we want it to change to the maiintenance strategy, 2M that is bi monthly. How to do it?
Do I need to chage it in the maintenance plan category? I am very new to PM. Pls explain.
Thanks
SangeetaDear,
It is not possible to change the maintenance strategy once assinged to task list, other option just try in the task list select the operation and select the maintenace package ,here delesect all the maintenance package alloted and then try to change it.
First delete all the operations in the task list ,then system wil allow you to change the maintenance strategy.
Best way is to create new maintenace plan with new strategy.
Hope clear to you.

Maintenance plan package change resulting in incorrect call dates
When we change a maintenance package on an existing maintenance plan to a package whose frequency is not an exact multiple of the previous package (for example, changing from a 6M 180-day package to a 1Y 365-day package) and then restart the plan, the call horizon of the plan seems to be ignored and the new call dates are always a day or so before the plan date regardles
Why is the call horizon being ignored in this situation?Hello
Please check the Option Start in Cycle while scheduling the Plan.
