  • Zombie Changes to Domain/Host Name in Mail Settings Window

For the second time since setting it up, the domain name has changed from "domain.com" to "local", and the host name has changed from "myserver.domain.com" to "myserver.local".
This tends to screw up my mail services.
I cannot determine why this would change, by itself, without any external intervention from anyone.
    Suggestions?

    Thanks for your reply!
The server is configured with static IP and running DHCP, DNS and mail, connectet to a D-Link router (the router also acting as a firewall). The DNS is configured with forwarder IP-addresses to the ISP and Google. Domain/hostname is changed from server.ljungh.net to server.local in postfix/main.cf (and other config files) and triggered if internet connection is lost by rebooting the router (or if internet connection to ISP is down for some other reason). Everything is working fine as long as the internet is up and running. The server is not acting as a firewall or multiple-network-controller.
    Output from changeip -checkhostname:
    Primary address = 192.168.0.196
    Current HostName = server.ljungh.net
    DNS HostName = server.ljungh.net
The names match. There is nothing to change.

  • Interesting Presence issue and changing the domain

I've got an interesting problem that I recently posted about in a different discussion forum.
Basically I've got a presence setup. This is federated with an OCS. The OCS domain is something like company.com This is the same as the email domain, and the SIP uri's are sip:[email protected]
The issue is that when the presence server was set up, the proxy domain was set as something like cmp.local. cmp.local is the domain for the entire internal MS infrastructure. The problem appears to be that this conflicts with the internal domain. So when looking up in the directory instead of getting the OCS domain it gets replaced with the cmp.local. Functionally this results in the jabber client being unable to add federated OCS contacts from the directory as they just get added as internal jabber contacts.
I'm thinking of changing the domain on the presence server to something like jabber-cmp.local, i.e. a domain that doesnt exist. Once we migrate to jabber we'll change the domain again back to company.local so we can federate externally properly. Does anyone have any experience of doing something similar? Any pitfalls anyone can point out?

Federation can only be setup  a few ways
    - Intra domain  (company.com   federated to im.company.com)
    - inter domain (company.com  federated to abc.com)
    - Intra domain partitioned  (Company.com federated to company.com)
You need to define this to make any of the with CUPS 8.6.4 (you should run latest and greatest).   Now, depending on which version OCS you have R1 or R2 is important as well.
Put the CUPS server in the domain you want it in.  Some of the SIP paramenters can be pushed for Jabber 4 windows XML file  IE:
    msRTCSIP-PrimaryUserAddress
      true
      sip:>

  • How do i change netbios name in windows 2012 server

    Hi,
i have create Ad on windows 2012 server and i have enter netbios name with end 0. now problem is when try to access any user it show netbios name there. is it possible that i can change netbios name or why it show netbios name.
    sunit kumar

    Hi,
We can use the active directory rename tools to rename domain NetBIOS name. But it is a complex and risky process.
For more information about how to use random.exe to rename domain name, please refer to the following article:
    Rendom
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc732097.aspx
Besides, renaming of the NetBIOS domain name is not supported in any version of Exchange Server.

  • Change host name on windows 2k3 post successful Essbase 11.1.2.1.0 install

    Hi gurus
installed Essbase 11.1.2.1.0 successfully on windows w2k3 ent srever 32 bit
can I change the host name to include domain name
    currently it is
    xxx.xx.xxx.xxx somehost
    can it be changed to
    xxx.xx.xxx.xxx somehost.local.com somehost
is hostname hardcoded anywhere in essbase (or obiee)?

Host name : would be computer name
domain name: security asigned in the network ( i hope)
so you can login via your ipadress , host name(localhost),(computername ), and assigined computername_domainname
but if u see in ur pc where C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\host...u can see the localhost information
in my case while installing , it took domain name +computername
Hyperion is such smart application it takes host name while installation and after installation even it takes name as localhost also.
Unless ur authorised to change the domain name but i dont hope ur infra team will be able to allow you it

    Hi Suzette,
I have portal 3.0.6.3.3 Beta i.e apache listener. For this i have not found domain name in registry. i made the following changes in htppd.conf file.
    ServerName 194.170.231.141
    <VirtualHost 194.170.231.141>
    DocumentRoot E:\ORAPOR\Apache\Apache\htdocs
    ServerName www.ahi-carrier.co.ae
    ServerAlias ahiweb 194.170.231.141
    </VirtualHost>
This 194.170.231.141 is my Fixed Internet IP.
my webserver machine name, where the oracle portal is installed is ahiweb(192.168.0.247).
also i have firewall before the web server.
Is these settings are OK for Portal.
I am using apache listener for my developer forms and reports, and they are working fine with these setting on the internet.
can i get white paper for these settings.

  • Change of domain for the cluster nodes

    Hi,
We need to change our existing domain i.e. NT domain to windows 2003 domain for the SAP production server cluster nodes.
There are 2 nodes. They are in active active mode.
Windows 2000 advanced server is installed in the nodes.
Can anybody tell us that during the change of the domain what else we need to take care or what should be correct procedure for this so that database & application does not have any impact
    Eagerly waiting for the reply
    With best regards
    Joydeep

    I would NOT do that.
What immediately comes to my mind is:
    - users need to be recreated in the new domain
    - filesystem owners and permissions of all SAP and database directories must be changed
    - permissions on registry keys must be changed
    - owner/permissions of the files in the cluster filesystem must be changed
There is no easy way of doing this. Depending on the database that is used more things are necessary. If you don't exactly know, where which application has files, it will certainly be troublesome.
The safest way would be to use a different hardware and do a homogeneous system copy by reinstalling the cluster in the new domain.

  • Compatibility Exchange Server 2003 SP2 and Domain controllers Windows Server 2008 R2

Hi all, I have this scenario:
    - Two Domain Controllers Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2
    - Two mail servers Exchange Server 2003 with the following version:
      6.5 (Build 7638.2 Service Pack 2)
I want to upgrade my domain controllers to Windows Server 2008 R2.
My question is whether exchange Server 2003 6.5 (Build 7638.2 Service Pack 2) is supported with Domain Controllers Windows Server 2008 R2.
Can you tell me some official Microsoft website where this reflected?
    regards
Microsoft Certified IT Professional Server Administrator

Exchange Server 2003 SP2 supports DCs running Windows Server 2008 R2. These DCs should be RWDCs and not RODCs:
Exchange 2003 SP2 will now be supported against writeable Windows Server 2008 R2 Active Directory Servers.  Additionally, with the General Availability of Exchange Server 2010, and those looking to standardize on Windows
Server 2008 R2 we have enhanced the supportability of forest and domain functional levels up to Windows Server 2008 R2.  This change is effective immediately on Exchange 2003 SP2.

  • How-to-tick-automatically-adjust-clock-for-daylight-saving-changes-for-domain-users

    hi
    please help me
I am using windows 2008 as a domain controller with windows XP & windows 7 as a client.
    how-to-tick-automatically-adjust-clock-for-daylight-saving-changes-for-domain-users
    Thanks in Advance
    my mail: [email protected]

Some more information would be nice (how many computers are in the domain?), but I think I have what you're looking for.
What you need to do is change a registry key in the client computers. It's located in the registry at
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\TimeZoneInformation
The string name is DynamicDaylightTimeDisabled and the value for this item is
0  (Kind of weird - by entering 0, you're saying "No, I DON'T want to DISable daylight savings time).
Of course, you'll need to deploy this registry information to the clients from the server.  There are several ways to do it, but the first one I'd try is to create a registry preference item on the server and deploy it as a GPP.
This link explains how to do this:

  • To change a domain installation to local installation

    Hi,
To give you a little background,
We currently have two instance of SAP R/3 running on a server, ECC 5.0, 6.0, Oracle, on Windows.
Our organization was recently acquired by another company, because of this we had to go for a domain change.
To change the domain, system copy is procedure used. I have used the R3load procedure to
perform an export of the existing systems.
While this was happening, I am also working on another issue, with SAP's support, for this purpose, the said server
is currently in a DMZ to be exposed to SAP's support. According to our network guys, we do not have domain controllers
in DMZ, the server has to be a workgroup(if I understand it correctly, its local authentication). To enable this I would have
to use the export I had taken to do a local installation. This is just until the issue gets resolved, once that is done, server
will be moved out of DMZ and into the domain again. At which point, I would have to redo everything back into the new
    domain.
This local installation has to be performed on the same server, by uninstalling the current SAP installation.
I have read several posts, regarding database copy, database restore. I am a little confused.
Below is a post where Markus suggests, database copy,
Re: Copying a Domain installed SAP System to Local Installed SAP System.
    My questions are,
    1. Even though I am fairly confident, the export was a success, Can I use the existing database setup, since
it is on the same server?
    2. If I have to uninstall the existing system, it is my understanding that I would install the central instance as
a local installation and restore the db, How do I restore database for Oracle? I have looked for a relevant doc,
    unsuccessfully.
    3. The issue that I am working on with SAP's support, is related to webservices, where in we are trying to call
an external webservice from SAP, I am a little skeptical, if the functionality would remain the same after a local
installation, can somebody shed some light on this as well?
    Thanks,
    Vishnu

    Hi dude!
To answer to the main question here: you are right, the supported method to change a domain (and this would include a change from domain to local installation or vice-versa) is, as you already know, to perform a system copy ( homogeneous system copy if the platform remains unchanged under the conditions of [note 547314|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/547314]). You can refer to [SAP note 1233320|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1233320] to get further details.
However, let me explain that an export with R3trans is not necessary if the system copy is an homogeneous one. Using a database-specific procedure (e.g. attaching the MS SQL Server database files to another SQL Server engine) is faster by far. You can search for notes on the suitable procedure specific for your database (these will be in the component BC-DB-*, e.g. BC-DB-ORA for Oracle databases). Suggestion: look for "system copy" or "database copy" in the BC-DB-ORA component for your particular case.
In order to get further information on all this, please check [System Copy and Migration homepage on the SAP Developer Network (SDN)|System Copy and Migration]. In that page you will find also a direct link to the [Installation Guides|http://service.sap.com/instguidesnw]; the link is referred as System Copy Guides, from which you should follow your SAP release (e.g. SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (2004s)), then press the link plan and install (under the Installation section)
and finally, navigate to the section in which the PDF System Copy guides are (in this example, press 2 - Installation - SAP NetWeaver Systems to display the guides, and download e.g. the +System Copy for SAP Systems Based on NW 7.0 SR3 ABAP + Java+).
If you read the System Copy PDF document very carefully and do not dismiss to check the referred notes, this will be as easy as a pie!

  • Change internet domain name

    Good Morning,
I have a windows 2008 sbs and i had configured an internet domain name(remote.xxx.com) with wizard from sbs console and all works fine, exhange and outlook clients.
Then i changed internet domain name(remote.yyy.com) and now when i open outlook, it open an alert with a certificate error from old remote.xxx.com . if i press ok it works because exist a dns record that aim to exhange server with old name.certificate for
new internet domain name is correctly installed
why does outlook try to connect to old name yet?
    thanks

    Hi
The certificate installed for Exchange has the old name, with most 3rd party certs you can make changes to the cert and then install a new one.

  • After copying a file from NTFS to HFS volume, file size changed when viewing in Windows

    Hi guys,
I have a Mac Air running Mavericks on a HFS partition and Windows 7 on a BOOTCAMP NTFS partition. I have some files that I want to read/write from/to both systems. Since OS X can't write NTFS and Windows can't write HFS either, and I don't want to use any 3rd-party tools/drivers, I have to adopt a "stupid" way: in OS X, I copy those files from NTFS to its HFS partition, make changes, then switch to Windows and sync them back to NTFS.
The problem is, after I copied a file from NTFS to HFS in OS X, it seemed ok. But when I switched to Windows, the very copied file in HFS partition had its size changed (bigger) although I didn't make any changes to it in OS X yet. This happens to almost every file I copied, text and binary. For those text files, I tried to open it with EditPlus in Windows and EditPlus reports the correct size on the status bar.
    How could this happen?

I am not sure if this is what your seeing but...
The same unaltered file on two different volumes might use different amounts of disk space. This is because a 'disk' is divided in to 'blocks' and a block (also historically known as a 'sector') is a certain minimum size. So if disk-1 has a block size of 512 bytes and disk-2 has a block size of 1024 bytes then a file containing just 10 bytes will use up twice as much space on disk-2 as disk-1 even though it is the exact same file.
Beyond that, Macs can add additional information like Spotlight tags, labels, icons, etc. which make a file bigger. If you are modifying a file then presumably that also implies adding additional content e.g. for a Word document more text and this will make it bigger. Also depending on some programs are configured or designed 'deleting' text may only mark it as deleted and not really delete. This can apply to older versions of Word which has a 'Fast Save' feature, new versions have removed this and do a proper delete.
You would have to give more details like what you are doing to the document, what kind of document, and what the two sizes are.
Finally, there is one other potential difference, some systems and manufacturers use 1024 as a unit for measuring file and disk sizes, some use 1000. It will be the same number of bytes in each case but 1000 bytes in one case would exactly equal 1MB, and in the other it would be 0.9765MB.
