Changing a folder name means you lose the icon?!

that's nuts.
i hate sports so i changed the 'sports and entertainment' to 'entertainment' and i lost the lil' icon on that folder. now it's an empty blank lookign folder. how annoying. did i f it up for good? any ideas on how to get it back short of pressing the 'reset all icons' or something liek that that i saw which leads me to think it will defualt the ENTIRE home screen to how it was when i frist received it?
aargh!

Hi and welcome to the forums!
Was this folder provided by the carrier or a folder you created?
If it's carrier specific changes are it will be recreated when you reregister the phone and resend service books.
Try this:
Go to options advanced options, Host Routing Tables, click to enter. DO NOT click on any listing.
Press menu key, and select register now.
You will get a verification message. Then go to email settings and send service books.
You will get an email per account. Once complete, check all folders to see if it has returned.
Personally I do not use the majority or the vendor apps. I create a folder for all the applications I do not use.
I place all the icon in it, hide the icons, and then hide the folder. This was I get a clean desktop and I don't
accidentally starts an unwanted app. I do the same with all the email icons for accounts. I just use the main message queue.
Let me know if this is what you were asking.
Thanks,

Here are the instructions from Apple on changing user short name or home directory name. I've used this on a couple of used MacBooks I've bought on eBay. And remember to go into System Preferences>Sharing and change the Computer Name in there.

Here's a copy and paste in case you still can get to it:
OS X: How to change user account name or home directory name
Summary Learn how to change your user account name and home directory name (which should match) by using the advanced procedure described below.
    Products Affected
    Mac OS X 10.4, Mac OS X 10.5, Mac OS X 10.6, OS X Lion, Mac OS X 10.0, Mac OS X 10.1, Mac OS X 10.2, Mac OS X 10.3, Mac OS X 10.4
    About the account name
Each user in Mac OS X has a "Full Name" (referred to as "Name" in Mac OS X v10.5.8 or earlier) and an "Account name" (referred to as "Short Name" in Mac OS X v10.5.8 or earlier) as defined in the Users & Groups pane of System Preferences (referred to as Accounts pane or Users pane in Mac OS X v10.6.8 or earlier). The account name can contain up to 255 lowercase characters with no spaces. This is the name used to create a user's home directory (also known as the user's Home or Home folder) in the Users folder. Once the user has been created, the account name (or short name) cannot be changed in the Users & Groups pane of System Preferences.
    Changing the account name
Though there are other methods by which an advanced user may change the short name and related information, the easier and safer workaround is described below.
Before following these steps, you may wish to back up your important data.
For Mac OS X v10.5 or later
    Enable the root user.
    Log in as root.
    Navigate to the /Users folder.
Select the Home folder with the short name you want to change, and rename it just like you would rename any folder. Keep in mind that the shortname must be  all lowercase, with no spaces, and only contain letters.
Use the Users & Groups pane (Accounts pane in Mac OS X v10.6.8 or earlier) in System Preferences to create a new user with the Account name or Short Name that you used in the previous step.
Click OK when "A folder in the Users folder already has the name 'account name'. Would you like to use that folder as the Home folder for this user account?" appears. Note: This will correct the ownership of all files in the Home folder, and avoid  permissions issues with the contents.
Choose Log Out from the Apple menu.
Log in as the newly created user. You should be able to access all of your original files (on the desktop, in Documents, and in the other folders of this Home).
After verifying that your data is as expected, you can delete the original user account via the Users & Groups pane (Accounts pane in Mac OS X v10.6.8 or earlier).
    Disable the root user.
For Mac OS X v10.4.11 and earlier
Optional step: As a precaution, you may disable automatic login prior to performing this procedure.  You might want to back up important data, too. In the event that you restart the computer for any reason before completing the procedure, this would prevent complications from having displaced the user selected for automatic login. (For Mac OS X v10.1.5 or earlier, automatic login is found in the Login preference pane. For Mac OS X v10.2 and v10.3, it is found in the Accounts preference pane.)
Mac OS X v10.3 or later: If FileVault is enabled, temporarily turn it off, which will log you out.
Enable the root user and log in as root.
For Mac OS X v10.2 or later: Open the Accounts pane of  System Preferences.
For Mac OS X v10.1.5 or earlier: Open the Users pane of System Preferences.
In the Name list, locate the user account with the short name that you want to replace. This will be referred to as the "original user".
Note whether or not the original user is identified as an administrator, which appears in the Kind column to the right.
Click New User. For Mac OS X v10.3 or later, this is the plus button.
Complete the Name and Short Name fields as desired. Be sure that the Short Name is exactly as you want it to appear.
For Mac OS X v10.2: Fill in the New Password and Verify fields.
For Mac OS X v10.1.5. or earlier: Click the password tab, then fill in the Password and Verify fields.
If the user you are replacing is an Admin user, then select the checkbox for "Allow user to administer this computer". For Mac OS X 10.3, click the Security tab to locate this setting.
Note: This checkbox is dimmed and already selected if there is not another Admin user. Mac OS X requires at least one Admin user.
Click Save. (Skip this step for Mac OS X v10.3.)
    Quit System Preferences.
Click the Finder icon in the Dock.
Choose Computer from the Go menu.
Open the Users folder in the Mac OS X disk.
Open the folder with the short name of the new user that you just created.
Drag the contents of this folder to the Trash.
Important: Do not empty the Trash yet. In the event that you accidentally move contents of the wrong folder, you may recover them from the Trash after discovering your mistake.
Choose New Finder Window from the File menu. Be sure to position the new window so that you can see both Finder windows.
In the new window, open the folder of the original user.
Press the Option key as you drag the contents of the original user's folder into the new user's folder (that you emptied in Step 16). This makes a copy of the contents.
Close one of the Finder windows.
Open the Terminal application (located at /Applications/Utilities/).
    Type: chown -R <new_name> /Users/<new_name>
Important: Replace "<new_name>" with the actual short name of the new user you just created. For example, if the new user had the short name "jacques", you would type:
    chown -R jacques /Users/jacques
    Press Return
    Quit Terminal.
Choose Log Out from the Apple menu.
Log in as the new user. You should be able to access all of your original files on the desktop and in the folders of the Home directory.
Important: If you do not have access to your original items, log out and log back in as root, then repeat Step 22. Also, be sure that you did not place the wrong files in the Trash in Step 16.
Choose Home from the Go menu.
Open the Library folder, then the Keychains folder inside it.
Select the keychain, which should still have the short name of the original user.
Choose Show Info from the File menu.
In the Info window that appears, choose Name & Extension from the pop-up menu.
Change the name to match the new user's short name.
    Close the Info window.
Open the Keychain Access application, located in the Utilities folder.
From the Edit menu, choose "<new_name> Settings". For the user Jacques, this would appear as: "jacques Settings".
    Click Change Passphrase.
Enter the desired password, then click OK. You may use the same password again or set it to match the login password of the new user.
Note: This step prevents you from discovering later that the keychain had retained an older password.
    Quit Keychain Access.
    Disable the root user.
If everything is working correctly, you do not need to log back in as root to empty the Trash. The folders you put there occupy a negligible amount of disk space.
Depending on what software you have installed, you may wish to rename other files and folders that may have been created under the original user short name to match the new user short name.
Once you are certain that everything is working properly, you may want to delete the Home directory (folder) of the original user, which should be empty. For instructions on how to do this, see this article.
Additional Information Note: Although you can change your Home name in Mac OS X v10.3 or later, you  usually shouldn't.

  • Active Content: cannot change Scripts folder name?

    Using DW 8.0.2.
After I accept the Active Content workaround to be applied to
my pages, I'd like to change Scripts folder name to "scripts" or
even move the scripts to my "jscript" folder, which already exists.
When I do this DW correctly asks to update the page links, but even
with the correct links the scripts does not run anymore.
It seems to be caused by some JS code included in the
scripts, which points to "Scripts" folder in site root. But I don't
know enough JS to identify and modify this. Any help will be very
    welcome.

Shouldn't happen. I have moved the AC .....js file many times
    to different
folders and if the path is correct, everything works
    properly. Can you
    please post a link.
You cannot lose until you give up !!!

  • Mass changing of folder names in CRM under tcode COMMPR01

    Hi Experts,
    Good day!
I would like to ask help regarding mass changing of folder names in CRM in tcode 'COMMPR01' under documents tab. I tried to change the folder name of one material but it only updates the folder name for that specific material and not for the whole CRM box. Is there a way for me to do a mass change of name for the folders in CRM? Can this be done in customizing(SPRO)?
    Thank you,
    Christian del Rosario

    Hi Christian,
Welcome you post on the forum.
However, here is not for question of your CRM module. It is the forum for SAP Business One E-Commerce and Web CRM. If you are not using B1, close your thread.

  • How do I change desktop folder/safari pictures to registered business icons, I have tried almost every how to  on-line but none are worki?  I have treing. First how do I get the icon I need from the website and then what?

How do I change Mac desktop folder/safari pictures to registered business icons? I have tried almost everythin but none are working.  First how do I capture the business icon from the website, then what?

OK, well to start with, you must have the icon file in the correct format. You need to end up with an .icns file. One of the how-to articles should tell you how to do this - iConvert will also do it.
If it is in the correct format, when you click the icon file to highlight it, and click cmd-i, you will see the Get Info window - at the top left, you should see a mini version of the icon. If you do NOT see that icon correctly, the file is not the correct format. So this will not work for a jpg or png file, for example.
Once you have this window open, go to the thumbnail, click it to highlight it blue, and click cmd-C to copy.
Go to your Safari app from the Applications folder (not from the dock), again click cmd-i to open its Get Info window, and again click its icon to highlight it blue. Now click cmd-V to paste. You will be asked for your admin password to authenticate. The icon should now become the one you've pasted in.
You may need to log out and back in for the effect to show on the application file itself.
You might also want to look into Candybar if you plan on doing a lot of icon customization.

  • The specified file or folder name is too long, the url path for all files and folders

The specified file or folder name is too long, the url path for all files and folders must be 260 character or less
    can we increase this limit?
    MCTS,ITIL

    Hi,
As I understand, you want to increase the length of URL path in SharePoint 2010.
Per my knowledge, this limit cannot be increased. SharePoint limits URL length because all relative URL links are stored in the clear forms on the SharePoint content DB and often this links are used as primary keys to link one table with another. Fields
which are used to store these links (for instance tp_DirName from the AllUserData table) allow storing only 256 characters.
There are several ways that you can resolve or mitigate URL length problems in the SharePoint Server 2010 environment. The following list provides suggestions:
    1. Upgrade all the end-user browsers to Internet Explorer 8, which has a longer URL length limit.
    2. Use shorter names for sites, folders, and documents and control the depth of the site and folder structures to reduce the lengths of URLs.
    3. If possible or allowed, use ASCII names for sites, folders, and documents. This will avoid situations where the URL will be lengthened by being encoded.
    4. To reduce the risk that the SharePoint Server 2010 end-users will encounter problems because of URL length limitations, we recommend that you apply the following effective limits in the deployment:
256 Unicode (UTF-16) Code units - the effective file path length limitation, including a domain/server name
128 Unicode (UTF-16) Code units - the path component length limitation

how do you manage photos if you lose the computer your iphone was synced with?

Are you talking about photos that were synced to your phone? If so, the photo sync is one-way: Computer to phone. Apple makes no provision to extract these photos from your phone, you'll have to use third-party software to do so. Note: photos synced to your phone were reduced in resolution for display on your phone, there is no way to recover their full resolution.

  • I need to create buttons in which the color changes, and stays on after you release the button

I need to create buttons in which the color changes, and stays on after you release the button. The hard part is the buttons must change independently of each other.
To get an idea of some of things I’ve tried I’ve tried making the movie with two frames.
When I click the button it switched to the new frame which would show a movie clip,
Unfortunately all buttons would change color together and don’t see how to make it so that they change independently.

you must use movieclip buttons and code for their frame changes.

No, it just means that you are running Lion and do not have Java installed. The update will simply check for any previous infection and let you know if it finds anything. If it doesn't find anything it will quit without any notices. In either case, it will then delete itself and you can sleep easy until the next one comes along.
