Changing a global swatch

We've purchased an eps file that claims that you can change the global swatch settings, but when I double click the swatch and change the color - it doesn't change anything. If I cursor over the entire art and double click the swatch to make the change, it changes the entire art to a single color. This art has hundreds of sections within it - with lots of various gradients in it. If I choose a single layer to change the colors in the gradient - I can't get the gradient colors to show up, nor can I even get it to change over to the standard black and white gradient. So, I don't know what to do here. Am I doing something wrong here in making the global swatch change? If I didn't know better, I'd say that the art has been completely divided.

This is from iStock and claims within a note on site that it is set up with a Global Swatch.
The blue swatch in the pic you are talking about may have been one that I adjusted in an earlier attempt to change out the swatch color, but had no effect... I'm assuming that is the case.
Otherwise, I can't even understand why the eyedropper doesn't recognize a color in the gradient...
It's looking this will have to returned.

Changing colors globally on multple layers

I have a CMYK file a co-worker did (who's not here no more) with about 10 different layers and a couple of them have the same CMYK color - some layers are boxes and some are type.
I have to change the cmyk value of one of the colors (that are on mulitple layers) to a different value.
Is there an easy way i can select that one cmyk color (instead having to click on them individually) and change the color globally throughout.
I know Indesign and Illustrator have merge swatches - does photoshop have that capability to change colors globally on different layers?

The short answer is no, you can't. You're much better off working on the individual layers according to their characteristics.
One way you could globally change the color is use the select... color range function to get a selection of the color you need to change, then create a new adjustment layer... hue/saturation using the color range selection as a mask. Tweak the HSL values to match the new color you need. Any feathered values (say, 50% of the original color) might be ignored.
Another (better) way would be to go to each layer and use the layer effects to add a color overlay effect with the new color. That's the way I'd go about it. It will work with screens. The great advantage to this method is that you can option-drag the color effect from layer to layer, so it is very quick to implement (assuming you know which layers to alter). Command-control click will help you identify which layer has the color you need to change.

I dont quite understand your question but if your variable is a reference to an object then you can certainly have a method to alter the object that the reference is pointing to and/or the reference itself..
otherwise your 'function' will have to return the same type as the variable itself in order to do the assignment as you demonstrated, regardless of wether it's C, C# or Java, AFAIK, WIRNM

Tried re-launching application, re-booting PC in case of a technical glitch. Something with graphics frames that needs to be re-stored that I am unaware of?
I also tried creating a new page, importing another image and still experiencing the issue.
How do I "re-set" my settings so it will work once again?

But that's not likely the problem. Are you sure the images are really grayscale mode? What format are they saved in? They cannot be colorized in ID if they are transarent or lack a Background layer.

Change in global structure in one query

Hi,
1. I have some five queries already developed. Here in all the five queries i am using one global structure. I have a requirement tp change the global structure, Now after i change the global structure in one query1 do i need to transport only that query1 or i have to transport all the five queries for the change to get reflected.
2. There are five workbooks also developed for the corresponding queires. After changing the queries do i need to update the output result in all the workbooks as well?
Here in the global structure the keyfigures are replaced with new keyfigures?
Little confused , need help? Please answer my two questions

If you changed the global structure then transport the structure not the query.
Go to transport connection in RSA1 choose Query elements -
>Structures.
Select your structure and transport.
That should do.As long as you use "Restore to initial query" in the dataprovider properties of the workbook it should reflect your changes else you need to change at workbook level too.

Change a Global var based on page

Can I change a global var based on what page I am on.

I do that sort of thing myself - though usually I use this as a pointer to where I need to return to when the user has finished an action on a form page (the form being accessible from multiple pages).
Create an Application Item called, say, G_RETURN_PAGE.
On pages 2 and 3, create a Computation that runs Before Header and, using a Static Assignment, sets G_RETURN_PAGE to that page number.
In my case, I use &G_RETURN_PAGE. in the Page setting on a branch, but you could use :G_RETURN_PAGE in PL/SQL etc

Illustrator CS5 - Change to global rulers - scriptable?

I wonder if the CS5 command "Change to global rulers" is scriptable. When I try to record it as an Action script step, it is not recorded and I do not see anything in the JavaScript-ing guide on setting this programatically either.

Change Query Global Definition Menu

Hi All,
             I seem to be having trouble entering the 'change query - global definition' menu. The error message is as follows:
"This component was edited with a more recent version of the Editor.You also have to use the more recent version to Edit Further.Further processing not possible.Update your front End."I am working in BW3.5.
                      Is this issue related to any configuration problem?Please help me on this.

       If u migrate the query of the 3.5 version to 7.0 version u ca only do the edition for that query in 7.0 only,u cannot edit that one in 3.5,but only u can open

Prevent non-global swatches in Smart Objects from disappearing?

After placing an Illustrator file in Photoshop as a Smart Object, then double-clicking the object in Photoshop to edit it, the only swatches that remain in the Swatches panel are global ones. All the other swatches have been removed. (This is with the embedded file that opens; the original is unaffected.)
I assume this is by design, but has anyone figured out a way of preventing it from happening, other than tediously changing every swatch to global before doing the embedding? And yes, I can always re-load the swatches afterwards, but that's also an extra step I'd like to avoid.
This is all CS6 in Windows 8.1.

Changing all swatches to global is easy. Use shift to select the first and last swatch, double click one, and check to global.
If color type is blank as above you will need to set a common color type, for global to hold.

Is it possible to change the Global Lockout Message to include the time duration?

Hi Everyone,
Is it possible to edit the error messages that portal returns?
Are they stored in a table we can just modify? Or are they
secured?
The one specifically that a client would like to change is:

My Illustrator does not allow me to change colors using swatches panel. Help pleas.

Few days ago I started having strange problems with my Illustrator CS5 application. I am using MacBook Pro with Intel Processor. After major update on the Mac OS few days ago I noticed I can not change colors in my drawings using swatches panel. The function on my Illustrator CS5 stopped working. When I select object and try to change its fill or stroke color using fill and stroke from the options bar above work space, none of the swatches would work. The are there how ever nothing hapends when I select them, the color remains the same.The same thing happens if I try to use the swatch panel, I select the object then I try to select new color from swatch but the fill or stroke does not change. I can only change color on my drawings using the color panel but that is not useful for me since I need to get precise colors using approved color swatches ether from pantone library or approved by client.
The other strange thing is my selection tool does not deselect when I click outside on or of the artboard, the object remains selected until I reselect another object or use the keyboard short cut to deselect it.
I have tried various options to resolve the issue from deleting and reseting preference to completely uninstalling and reinstalling Illustrator CS5. I even installed back my old CS4 version because I had to complete a project and the same issue is happens there as well. I also reset the application using Time Machine from few months ago when it was working correctly. What happens when I reset or reinstall the app, it works for about 10 min correctly as it should and and then it reverts to the same problem. I am out of options and do not know what else I could do to fix this. Right now I am working on my old Mac tower G5 and CS4 where everything works as it is suppose to, but I really need to get this fixed. Can any one help or has solution for my problem? Please.

CHANGING DEFAULT CMYK SWATCHES TO RGB

I've been looking for a way to change the default CMYK swatch to RGB. I've tried everything. CMYK colors - even black ARE NOT ACCURATE. Help?

you just need to change the profile when creating new document
CMYK is Accurate, when printing CMYK!
RGB is Accurate, when displaying in RGB!
colour is a complex thing.

You may add them to your Adobe Illustrator Startup_CMYK and/or Adobe Illustrator Startup_RGB files in your Plugins folder.
What happens if you DoubleClick those swatches and Tick Global?

I was wondering if there was any way that I could either
change the little color swatch next to my username or choose which
color swatch would be used? Could there be something added to the

Hello, yes, currently the color theme avatar is the first
theme you create. Others have requested the ability to change their
avatar, but the current workaround seems to be deleting that first
theme and then it changes... sometimes. Thanks for your patience.
