Changing account email address details for iCloud

I changed my email address a while ago and was able to make the change for my iTunes account, however I have not been able to access my iCloud account to make the change (it doesn't seem to have automatically changed that too). It keeps prompting me to enter the password but it will not allow me to change the email address, so the password does not work. Any ideas anyone?

If your AppleID is a .Mac or .Me account then you can't change it. But it shouldn't go away.
If it is something else you can. Just log in here (https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/) and manage your AppleID. Click edit next to the ID and you should be able to simply change it.

Did you create a NEW Apple ID or did you change the email address for your OLD Apple ID? This will affect how you update apps in the future.
Anyway, go to Settings/iTunes&App Stores, log out, then log in with the new ID.

My son's email address provider looks like it might have gone out of business (he pays £10 a year, it's due for renewal, the website perpetually shows an error and they don't answer his email)
Anyhow, he's decided to change the email he uses for his itunes account to his mobile me account.
He logs in, goes to edit his details, changes his email address and hits done. He then gets an error message saying he can't change to an existing mobile me email address and if he wants to use his mobile me account he has to log in using the mobile me account information.
He's doesn't have a mobile me address itunes account, and I tried logging in as though he did to verify he didn't and got the message that there wasn't an account for that address.
All I can think of is that it might be something to do with having a family mobile me account, however none of the rest of the family use their mobile me address with their itunes account.

If you mean your Adobe.com e-mail address, then go to www.adobe.com, sign in, click Manage account, click Account, enter a new e-mail address.

If you're running iOS 6, to change your iCloud ID go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, then sign back in with the new ID. This deletes the account and your iCloud data from your device, but not from iCloud. Provided you are signing back into the same account, your iCloud data will reappear on your device when you sign back in.
To avoid losing photo stream photos, save them to your camera roll (if not already there) before deleting the account. To do this, open your my photo stream album, tap Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, then tap Save to Camera Roll.

Mail app wont let me change the email address on my icloud accouny

I have an @mac Apple ID that I use all the time but it is not a setup email address. If you understand what i'm saying.
So I also have an @me email that Is linked to my icloud account, which i use me @mac ID to log in with.
I can access the @me email with the icould.com site, but when I use the mail app on my iphone4 running 5.1.1, It will not allow me to select the @me email as my primany email address, it is keeping my @mac id, which isn't an emailing account.
I can and do recived me emails to this account via the mail app but I can't send mail from this account because the @mac is not set up for email. can anyone help?

Read it again. It says anything stored in iCloud will be deleted FROM THE DEVICE - which makes sense if you are deleting the account from the phone. You will lose some photos ON YOUR DEVICE in shared photostreams since those are shown progressively from time of iCloud activation. They will still be available in iCloud and other other devices.
In any case, you should already be backing up those photos to a computer or some other service. If you lost or had your iPhone stolen - or even if some hardware issue occurred, you would lose them. Import them into your computer before doing anything.

If you need to change the primary email address associated with your iCloud Apple ID, see "How to change you Apple ID and primary email address" here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HE68. If you change the name of your ID you will need to go to Settings>iCloud on your phone and tap Delete Account, then sign back in with your new credentials. Deleting the account will only delete the account and your synced data from your phone, not from iCloud. Provided you are signing back into the same account and not changing accounts, you data will be synced back to your phone when you sign back in. If you have any photo stream photos on your phone that are over 30 days old, save them to the camera roll before deleting the account (open your my photo stream album, tap Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, tap Save to Camera Roll).

How do I change the email address linked to iCloud

When I open icloud on my devices using my apple ID, my ID/ email address shows as the user but the email address listed in the advanced tab is a me.com address. This would be fine but it is a mid-spelt version of my name at me.com. I can log in to the correctly spelt version of my name at me.com via apple ID but cannot use this. It seems that in the move from me.com to iCloud I have ended up with an association to mis-spelt me.com. Can I change this? If not, I am happy to set up a fresh iCloud account but I still have the issue of disassociating the mis-spelt address which seems to be something Apple do not allow. apple have told me to start from scratch - new ID, new iCloud and all linked to a new email address that I would need to set up. This seems tediculous!
Does anyone have any suggestions?

You can do it directly on your iPhone by tapping on the id in Settings > iTunes & App Store and logging into it. Or you can do it via the Store > View Account menu option on your computer's iTunes, or via http://appleid.apple.com

I don't want to change my Apple ID, I just need to change the e-mail address that is attached to my icloud account. I changed the Apple ID to my new e-mail, but icloud still has the old address.

Having trouble changing my email address used for discussions subscriptions

The address for replies to threads I've started is an old address. I can access it, but it's a lot of trouble to do so.
I've tried to change this address to another, more convenient one, but the change doesn't take. It's been a couple of hours since I first tried.
Both times I've clicked on the save changes button, but the change hasn't been made.

Try removing the Apple cookies in your browser, make the change again, hit save and see if that works.

How can I change Primary Email Address to icloud email?

I have an apple id been using for many years. I would like to change the primary email address. I would like to create a new icloud email address and use that as primary email for my apple id.
When I try to do this in the Manage Apple ID it says that I cannot pick an email address associate with apple domain.
How do I do this???
Essentially I would like to start over with an icloud email address but keep all my existing itunes purchases etc. If I create a new Apple ID with icloud email id I am hosed and cannot copy over my purchases. If I stay with existing Apple ID, I can change primary email address but I can't use icloud email.

While you can't currently change your Apple ID to a Mobile/iCloud email address, I found a solution that helps with a related problem.
Suppose you've recently got an iCloud email address, but Apple are still sending all your iTunes Store, App Store and Mac App Store receipts to your old gmail address (the one that's still your Apple ID). And suppose they're also sending all the Apple Support Communities notifcation emails to your old gmail address. How do you change it? How do you fix it?
Well the option exists, but it is hidden away in a weird place. To get Apple sending all of their receipts and notifications to your new iCloud email address...
• Go to your country's Apple Store website http://store.apple.com/
• Click on the Account button in the top-right corner
• Under Account Settings, click on Change your default shipping or billing info
• Sign in with your usual Apple ID and password
• The email address listed under Payment Information is the key
• Click on Edit next to Payment Information and change that email address to your iCloud address
That's all you have to do.
