Changing account email name

I just changed my email address and updated with Apple Store and ICloud. But each place continuously asks for the password to my old email address even though I have suppsedly deleted it.
Please let me know what else I need to do to get the old email to go away.

I am unable to shut off my computer unless I give it my old password under my old email address.
When I go to Apple ID support, I log into the old email address, and my new address comes up once I get in, and the old email is nowhere to delete........

First you go to https://appleid.apple.com, log in, and change the email address on the account. Then on the phone go to Settings/iCloud, scroll down and delete the account. You will need to enter the password for the old email address. Then go back to Settings/iCloud and add it back using the new email address.

Can not login after changing account short name and home directory

Hi,
I did sth rather stupid while trying a get timemachine working on my iMac 10.5.5.
I changed the short name, login shell and home directory of my account. (didn't listen to the waning that I may not be able to login if I change those information Now I can not log into my account anymore. I tried to use fileVault master password to change the password of my account, but it didn't help. Can anyone tell me how do I fix this problem?

does it list sparsebundle or sparseimage?
Another thing, when I typed in the command, it didn't take the admin (root) password, but the password of the account I was logged in got me through.
that's what it has to be. it takes the password of the user (it jhas to be an admin user) which is currently logged in.
I am wondering if I can recover the problem user's files from the sparseimage file, then copied all the files to a new user.

Changing account email address details for iCloud

I changed my email address a while ago and was able to make the change for my iTunes account, however I have not been able to access my iCloud account to make the change (it doesn't seem to have automatically changed that too). It keeps prompting me to enter the password but it will not allow me to change the email address, so the password does not work. Any ideas anyone?

It is safer to create a new account as your Mac does not like its account names being changed, so it is not succumbing.

You can do that by changing the property file waveset.properties or WPMessages_en.properties (which ever is applicable) and setting the the desired value for the following property
UI_USERAPPLETTABLE_NEW_USER=New xxx User
Or you can create your own custom catalog and put same value in that.

Just wondering how to disable users from changing their AD accounts 'Full name' field in the Users & Groups preferences.
We need there mac account name it to be their actual Active Directory name but right now they can change it to anything they want, including Emoji characters which can't be read on anything else.
/private/var/db/dslocal/nodes/Default/users/username.plist
This has the key of RealName which is the name they can change from System Preferences.
Is there a way to stop them changing the name?

Changed Account 'short name' and cannot now access iPhoto pictures

I have two accounts running on my iMac. The second one I opened because Word didn't run properly on the first. I gave the second one the short name 'test'. Recently I decided that I should change the short name from 'test' to something more appropriate. I then logged out and in again. When I logged back in the short name was back to 'test' but I have lost access to some applications (had to reconnect to the web) and especially my iPhoto pictures. Can someone help?

Thank you very much for the help. I muddled through using the instructions and have managed to find my iPhoto files and some other files too. My Entourage account is still not reenabled, so I will have to set up that account again.
Will it be OK to delete the 'new shortname' as I am now operating on the original 'shortname' and I have moved most of the files away from the profile?

My son's email address provider looks like it might have gone out of business (he pays £10 a year, it's due for renewal, the website perpetually shows an error and they don't answer his email)
Anyhow, he's decided to change the email he uses for his itunes account to his mobile me account.
He logs in, goes to edit his details, changes his email address and hits done. He then gets an error message saying he can't change to an existing mobile me email address and if he wants to use his mobile me account he has to log in using the mobile me account information.
He's doesn't have a mobile me address itunes account, and I tried logging in as though he did to verify he didn't and got the message that there wasn't an account for that address.
All I can think of is that it might be something to do with having a family mobile me account, however none of the rest of the family use their mobile me address with their itunes account.

If you mean your Adobe.com e-mail address, then go to www.adobe.com, sign in, click Manage account, click Account, enter a new e-mail address.

Changing Account Holder Name

The current account is in my mothers name as its her line but I'm the person who helps solve any issues and arranges bt infinity to be installed etc.
If I go to MYBT there is a section "My Contact Details" and it lets you change the Name and Email address.
If we change this to my name, will this mean if I phone up regarding any phone/bt inifinity issues that my name will be there as the account holder?
Or is there a way to have my name added as an additional holder?

Change of email name on iCloud email

Hi
I have recently got married and so my surname has changed. I have managed to change my name in my settings but this hasn't effected the actual email address.
Can I change my actual email address to be my new surname e.g. [email protected] to [email protected]? Is this what creating an alias does? Sorry for being dumb but I don't really get how the alias works?
I am hoping I can change it easily with out having to delete my account and start from scratch

For the ones that give you an option, select the option you want (keep on the Mac or Delete). For the ones that are simply warning you, click on Delete from Mac.
They will all come back when you sign back on, since all you did was change your existing Apple ID to a new email address. It's the same iCloud account, just with a different name.
It's the only way to get your updated ID signed onto iCloud.
