Changing account on ipad without losing purchased apps?
I originally set up my daughters ipad under my account, so I could transfer the games I had bought her on my ipad, how do I change her ipad to her own account? Thank you in advance for your advice. She has an ipad mini. Nicky
All apps, video are tied to the Apple ID used to purchase them.
Even if you sign in under a different Apple ID, the original Apple ID password used to download the apps will need to be used for updating the apps.
To not use the password for the old Apple ID , you would have to delete the apps and redownload them under the new ID. This means any data will be gone and you have to pay for them again.
You can go under settings, itunes & app store and change the Apple ID.

I have two itune accounts, How do I close down one iTunes account and not lose purchased apps from the account closed.
You can't close or delete an account, all you can do is remove any personal info from it and stop using it - but any content that you purchased or downloaded with it will remain tied to it, so you will need to remember its id and password for re-downloading and or re-authorising.

Syncing iPad without losing purchased content already on the iPad
Rookie question probably, but I've been downloading content in different forms on my iPad for months and I finally want to sync the device with the iTunes on my MacBook Air. When I try to do this, I get a message warning me that any content on my iPad will be deleted as a result of the sync. That's when I hit "cancel". I've had iPhones for years, been syncing them and purchasing content either on the iPhone or the laptop, and this has never been an issue. I don't remember doing anything special with respect to iTunes settings in the case of my iPhone, so what do I do for the iPad? I've backed it up to the iCloud, but I can't say I understand whether iCloud backups are connected to iTunes syncing.
You need to transfer the purchase that you have been making on the iPad into iTunes before you sync. Turn off auto sync first.
iTunes>Preferences>Devices, check the box at the bottom that will prevent the iPad from auto syncing. Click OK. Quit iTunes.
Connect the iPad to the computer and launch iTunes. Right click on the iPad name on the left side under the devices heading - then select - Transfer Purchases. That will put all of the stuff that you have been downloading for months into iTunes. Right click on the iPad name again - select Backup. (More about his at the end.)
Now go into each tab in iTunes, Info, Apps, Music, Photos, Movies - whatever you want to sync. Select all of the content that you want on the iPad. Make sure that all of the headings are checked - Sync Apps, Sync Music, etc. After you have finished making your selections, click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes.
You can turn auto sync on again when you are done if that is how you want to sync.
iCloud backups are separate from iTunes backups. You can use both or either. You can make the choice to backup in iTunes in the Info Pane of iTunes when the iPad is connected to the MBA and with iTunes running and the iPad selected. I wanted you to have a backup in iTunes if you are going to sync with iTunes. -
Changing icloud account without losing data, apps etc.
My wife and I currently share an Itunes and I cloud common account on our ipads and iphone 5's. I would like to change my icloud account but continue to share the itunes store account. How can I change the icloud account on my phone and ipad without losing everything that is now stored in our common icloud account?
When you delete the account and choose Keep on My iPhone (iPad), contacts, calendars and other synced data will remain on your device. When you sign in with your new ID to create your new account and choose Merge, these will be uploaded to your new account. Synced notes and photo stream photos are exceptions to this, which is why you have to take steps to save them prior to deleting the account.
If you don't have notes turned on in Settings>iCloud, your notes aren't being synced with iCloud and will not be effected by deleting the account as they are stored locally on your device rather than in iCloud. You can confirm this by going to icloud.com and checking Notes there. If you don't see your notes, they aren't in iCloud so you don't need to email them to yourself prior to deleting the account.
Also, if you have multiple devices, you only need to migrate the data to your new account on the first device. On the second device you can just delete the existing account and choose Delete from My iPhone (iPad) rather than Keep (since your iCloud data is already in the new account). When you sign into the new account on the second device your iCloud data will download to it. -

i have in the meantim had to open www.icloud. then from there import the file that i am working on and then check on ipad if it uploaded/ yes it did.
but what a waste of time as it doesn not save any changes done automatically back in the cloud....

Just to make sure you are aware - it is REALLY important to delete the iCloud account on your devices and computers before you change your ID! As the article that picas provided, you should also sign out of Messages, Facetime, etc. but the iCloud one is the one that will cause you real grief if you don't delete it before the change.

A much simpler solution would be to go into Settings > Store and turn off Automatic Downloads

If you synced it many times, you have to have a backup. It's just a question of how old that backup is now. When did you last sync?
First of all launch iTunes on your computer and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices. Do you see any backups for you iPad in that window? If so, how new is the newest backup? That will be the backup that you will want to use. But remember that if you use that backup and it is one month old, you can only restore from that date back in time. Anything that you did on the iPad in the past month will not be in that backup.
Turn on the new iPad Minin and start activating OTA via WiFi. You will get to a certain point in the process where you will be given the choice to Set up as new, Restore from iCloud - or Restore from iTunes. You will want to select Restore from iTunes.
That is the short and sweet version. There are step by step instructions in this article. This applies to the mini as well as the iPad 4 or the iPad 3 for that matter.

To update your phone requires using the latest version of iTunes, on your computer, as well as Internet access. The update to iOS 5.0 or higher is an erase/restore deal, so you not only have to make sure all of the content, currently on your phone, is on your computer and accessible, you need to update iTunes first, have Internet access, then update your phone. There is no way around this fact. You could go to an Apple store or use another computer, but you run the risk of losing all of your data it you do that.
